FCPX very slow- looking for solution

I bought a Mac Book Pro last year.
I recorded a ton of footage at 60FPS in MXP. My Canon camcorder saves it as an MTS file, so I use Clipwrap to convert it to MOV so FCPX can use it.
FCPX is running at a snails pace- the video lags and I cant even edit it.
Is there a solution to this?

What type of RAM and how much depends on the specific model. The models introduced in 2011 can go up to 16GB. You really should know what you have. Also it is hard to give advice without more specific information.
No, I put the files on my HD. Now it bogs. It didnt do that with lower end video.
That is not surprising. Using the internal HD is ok for small projects, but as this HD is also accessed by the system all the time, it is not recommended that you use it for substantial video projects.
If you are in a situation where you really have to make do with limited ram and the internal drive, then use proxy media. This uses much less space and is easier for your mac and drive to work on. This should alleviate most of your troubles. Transcode your media to proxy and switch the playback preferences.
Don't worry that the video quality will be lower. After you finish editing, you just switch back to high quality and export.
How you work and how much you can get are things that depend a lot on the hardware that you have, so you should really get to know what you have!

Hi,
Having problems with very slow broadband for the past 2 months. I'm supposed to be getting 7.5 Mb download speeds but its nowhere near at the moment. More like 0.3 Mb download 0.6 Mb upload. Just installed brand new homehub a few days ago...but no change.

With your line attenuation you should be getting a sync speed of 16000 kbps and a profile of about 14 Meg, however it looks like you line has been capped at 1/2 a Meg, that is why your noise margin is so high ( should be around 6dB ) now this could be due to a line fault ( loss of framing/signal ) or a problem with your internal wiring.
However since you have has this problem for so long your best bet is to ring BT India on 0800 111 4567 and try and get a SFI fault raised so an Openreach broadband engineer can come and see if they can sort the problem out.

thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.

Very slow bootup for windows 7 home premium on x200

hi i had recently bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade for my x200 with ocz vertex ssd. x200 model : 7459 p57. since i have install the os, i got a very slow bootup at the welcome page. anyone facing the issue or any solution? previously using the windows 7 rc edition with the ssd, there's no issue. can anyone help me?

You can probably simply download all the Windows 7 versions from the Lenovo Web site. Win 7 by itself will install enough to get you running for the most part.

Very Slow Speed for OS X Updates

Hey Everyone
I have been attempting to download updates through the Mac App Store recently on my mid-2013 MacBook Air, currently running OS X 10.10.2.
It seems as though a download of 40 MB is going to take around 2 hours... very weird because my connection is extremely fast. For example, I can download about 4 GB in about half an hour.
Is anyone else experiencing OS X updates downloading very slow through the MAS. It seems as though it doesn't affect any app downloads though.

I'm facing same issue with same modem.. esp when I use wifi. However, if I connect to ether port its much better.. Please let me know if you found a solution..

IPhoto '08 very slow upload for calendar / books?

I'm having a LOT of problems with uploading my 2008 Calendar projects. I've created a Calendar in iPhoto. The total size is 22 MB. When I click "Buy Now", it goes through the process of assembling the calendar, and then starts uploading the files to Apple. But the upload process is VERY SLOW.... it uploads maybe a hundred KB a minute or so, then usually stalls out and I get an error message saying "There was an error sending your files to Apple. Retry?"
-I've tried this at least 40-50 times over the past week (yes, these are Christmas presents for the grandparents!).
-At first I figured it was bandwidth at the Apple side, so I've tried it at all hours of the day and night, with no effect.
-I've tried it on wireless network at home, as well as plugged directly into network at both home and work.
-I have been able to get 2 orders to go through, the rest have all failed. I've actually received one of the orders, and the calendars look great!
-My broadband connection is fine... I'm able to upload pictures to Shutterfly, Flickr, and via FTP with NO problems at all and very rapid throughput. Speedtest.net shows my upload and download speeds are fine.
The odd thing is... When I watch the Activity Monitor, during assembly of the calendar I see high CPU utilization and very little network utilization from iPhoto (as I would expect). But once the files start uploading, I see a few spikes in outgoing network traffic, then erratic spikes of outbound data (nothing sustained). When I send large batches of files through FTP, or other upload I get sustained outbound network traffic. After a few minutes... I hear the fan on my MacBook cranking up, even though the CPU activity is idle on the activity monitor.
My theory: this is a software problem in iPhoto, NOT a network problem. Possibly from one of the recent iPhoto or security updates? I suppose this could be a corrupted preferences file, but don't know which ones I can safely delete. My iPhoto library is working fine, no errors in that.
Any suggestions? Santa will bring you good karma if you can help me get these calendars to the grandparents soon!

There were a couple of cases of this reported after v7 was launched.
Some things to try:
1. Make sure you're up-to-date - iPhoto is up to 7.1.1 now.
2. Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. Try delete the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder

What functionality exactly are you looking for, and at the end of the day how much time are you willing to develop your own customized microsoft access reporting function?

HTML5 not working on iPad, multitude of issues, looking for solutions

I'm trying to test the possibility of publishing trainings to HTML5 for use on iPad or iPhone. In our first test, we put the HTML5 publish up on an LMS and accessed it through an iPad and iPhone. Via the iPad we used Safari. This is what happened:
First three slides did not appear (first has a single image, second has an f4v video, third has an f4v video).
We had narration throughout which did not play at all. Audio files are in WAV format.
Overall very slow
Crashed on one slide
Slow navigation on the Table of Contents.
Any suggestions about why we may be having these problems? Should we be using a different browser? Conver the F4V videos to something like MPEG or AVI? Anything helps, thanks.

What config are you using for the H.264 Conversion? Here's some info that an Adobe Engineer posted a few months ago for me on another forum...even if it doesn't help for this scenario, it is definitely great reference material:

Teacher looking for solution to generating a document linked to class roster.

I'm looking for an electronic version of the label.
I want to create a document (like a worksheet) that has fields for Name, Hour, Date at the top. Then, I'd like the PDF to generate a worksheet per student on my roster, automatically filling in the fields with their roster info.
When printed, every student would get a worksheet with their own name on it.
Any thoughts?

UNION making query very slow... solution?

I want to get the records of two tables in one view. Option available in oracle is UNION.
I have used UNION between two select statement. There are above 15,000 records in one table and around 200 in the other one.
But after using this UNION between the select statements my view have become very slow.
Can i use a order by command in the following view, I have tried but it gives error. What is the alternate of a UNION.
Please help. All of our reports depend on this view and its very slow.

use UNION ALL instead of UNION.
If you still feel slow then generate the trace and see what is the bottle neck.

use tkprof to format the trace file generated by the event, you can find trace in your udump directory. And see what are the waiting events.

MacBook Pro 2010 Very Slow Startup for computer and Programs

My MacBook Pro is very slow start up and sometimes fails to. also when using Safari computer will freeze. when opening and closing programs it can take up to 15 min. this all started in the last two weeks. I have also had to update Yosemiti a lot in the last couple weeks. Is there issues with the updates or is there something more going on?

Post an etrecheck report back here, which may give us some clues.
