FCPX wont recognize Canon xh a1.. nor will imovie or iphoto
So heres the deal, for the longest time my dad had this guy doing camera and videowork for him, the guy was really serious, a professional. One day he went awol, sold one of our cameras to a pawnshop and went off the grid. He left us with a video camera, a bunch of equiptment and a 32" imac. Just now I'm becoming interested in the filming/editing deal, and so I ordered a cable RIGHT OFF THE APPLE WEBSITE and nothing will read my camera. Nothing even recognizes it. I've had some friends try multiple different computers with multiple different programs and multiple different cables and nothing will even recognize my camera.

I have a macbook with the newest version of osx and have two ipods. I have a 5th generation video and a old 10gb. I have two itunes libraries, one for each one. My computer wont recognize the old ipod, but will recognize the 5th generation. I have tried the 5 r's and all the other trouble shooting tips. Anybody know whats goin on?
I had the same problem and I found that if you make sure iTunes is off before you plug it in it will work.

IDVD wont recognize iMovie chapter markers
I have made sure the appropriate boxes are checked and unchecked in the preferences menu of iDVD, yet the iDVD project wont recognize the chapter markers created in imovie. I have made sure to save the updated iMovie after the chapters were added.
hi, how are you 'exporting' in FCE ? Exporting via Quicktime Movie is the only way to preserve the chapter markers. In other words, if you used "export using quicktime conversion" you don't get them. check out my thread here for more info:

i left a dvd in my macbook pro for a while and now my computer wont recognize that there is even a disk in there, nor will it eject it. how do i get the dvd out?
Hold down the mouse button or trackpad clicker as you start up.
If no joy, restart and hold the Option key. This brings up the Startup Manager, which will draw an Icon for each bootable Volume. When all are drawn, the Eject key is "live". -
Just popped a cd with important images into my imac. Computer wont recognize it nor will it eject it.

My ipod touch wont charge nor will the computer recognize it as an ipod
my iPod touch wont charge when connected to my lab top but it isnt the usb cord or port because it works for a different iPod and my computer wont recognize my ipod.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Since installing 10.5, Itunes will no longer open automatically when I connect my Iphone or insert a CD. Nor will it, when I insert a CD, recognize the CD unless I close Itunes and open it again. Any ideas?

hi, i have an imac which i bought second hand but but the itunes store wont load up nor will me songs ect sync with the itunes on this comp? i have had no issues with this on previous laptops.... any more of this and i may move to samsung! please help!

See if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make the iPod visible in iTunes. If it does then restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. For recovery mode see:

Why will my iPad 2 not recognize any iPod cables? I have tried two different cables in both the wall and in my laptop, but it will not register that it is receiving power, nor will the laptop recognize that they are connected.
Crizzo is right, the best way to charge is with the included power block. That said, the USB cords are interchangable as far as an of us know. (just not power bricks, iPhone and iPod bricks put out 5W of power, the iPad wants 10W and will always say 'not charging' if plugged into less power than it requires even though it will charge, just very slowly)
If you have tried to charge your iPad - with the iPad charger - with multiple cables and multiple computers and get no joy then it's time to head to the apple store and have them check it out. The 30 pin USB port can go bad - mine did - and it's a manufacturer's defect (unless there's any sort of obvious damage) and should be covered under the warranty;
