FCPX wont't allow me to leave media in place

I already have a folder of media on the same drive. When I go to import the files, FCPX has add to library selected and won't let me select "leave in place". Is there a preference or setting somewhere that will let me reference the files?

The media (file downloaded from the camera cards via Red Giant Bulletproof) is located in a folder on the same external Thunderbolt drive as the newly created FCPX library. The library is not in the same folder. Should I have created a new event? The dated event was the default created with the new library.

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

It worked two days ago fine, for two years, until I installed this newest iTunes update, then for one day it kept on freezing and going to apple logo screen mode, then today it only goes to that screen and wont start up at all.
I've tried the hold down two buttons hard reset, that doesn't help. I've tried disc mode... but iTunes doesn't "see" it even if the computer does.
This is a pristine ipod, never exposed to adverse conditions, never dropped, never wet, and it worked perfectly two days ago.
Can I factory reset it somehow? (considering itunes can't "see" it)

Renaming , adding all the music on it, but it will work again, finally. "
I had to do it twice, because my mac froze the first time, but its recognized it now and is downloading the software as we speak...
Now I've clicked the restore button and it's restoring... I'll post again if its a success, otherwise assume failure.

Why wont iTunes allow me to copy/sync a song from my iPod? I have a song on my iPod that i want on my laptop to add to my iPhone, but i can't sync it. I did not purchase it via iTunes.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The ONLY exception is itunes purchases.
As the song came from your computer in the first place, it should still be there and be included in your regular backup of your computer.
The ipod is not a storage/backup device.

Is there any way to import from other drives where you can leave your media in place?
Whenever I've imported clips from another drive I had to copy them to the library, while clips on the same drive as the library I could leave in place. Besides getting a bit tired of FCP treating like a kid with Alzheimer's, what would one do, say, when a drive gets full? I could see big projects needing more than a single drive.

LIke Russ said, the copy of the entire folder structure is similar to creating a camera archive. This copy or archive is treated just as if it were a camera card - in particular, "leave in place" is not available, and you have the option go import just parts of clips if you want.
so technicay even though they reside in a hard drive this is like importing from camera, as opposed to "import from file".
I Will try to describe how I handle my media. I hope this will help clarify things a bit. I am not saying thus is the way to do things, but it is my way.
I keep archives of the camera cards, which I then erase and reuse.
I import clips from my camera archives which I store as external media (copying to a folder of my choosing instead of into the library). These movie files, plus other files that I get from other sources, can be later imported and used in other libraries using "leave in place".
And all of this of course needs to be regularly backed up.

PSE 12 Organizer Problem with , Media, People, Places, on top of Screen

Thanks for your help. On the top of the Organizer in 12, it has tabs for Media, People, Places, Events. They all have stacks sorted by name. However only in the Events tab, does it show the photo of the first picture in the stack. The other Tabs don't show a photo of the first picture in the stack. How can this be corrected?

Please double click a people stack and move the switcher "Faces|Photos" to Faces side. This switcher appears on the left corner just above the media grid.
Here if you can see some marked faces, right click >Assign an profile picture.
If generic faces are shown, you need to see individual images and name face rectangles in them as explained here-http://helpx.adobe.com/elements-organizer/using/adding-people.html

Well it just keep telling me my accounts been disable every since I had fraudulent charges made 2 my account by my ex wife... But since then I've changed my password and account card number but still getting these same pop ups every time I try 2 update my apps... And yes I'm sure it was made from my account... I see a lot of ppl having this problem

FCPX 10.1.1 crashed and managed media lost...

Have a 1.6 TB library on a loaded imac running on a 10 TB RAID. Plenty of file storage space and RAM memory.
Yesterday my producer (I'm managing the project remotely) started importing (copy into library as managed media; no transcoding) clips via the import window. MFX clips.
All seemed good in the morning, background tasks had finished. All clips appeared to be active and living in the library (so I was told).
My producer did receive a notice from FCPX that it was unable to backup when she first opening up FCPX. Something about access to the drive and permissions. She ignored this message ;((((
A half hour later FCPX froze. After a reboot, most of the imported clips are now unlinked. And when she looks inside the library, the media is not showing up in the Original Media folder, where it should live if it HAD imported it properly.
It appears that being unable to backup, FCPX just quit and didn't even save the library and reverted to an earlier state prior to the import.
Does this make sense?
Disturbing it it's true. (I instructed her to change the location of the backups to another drive/folder)
Would opening up an earlier version of the library from the backup be a possible fix?

Imported as managed media via import window from dumps of canon c300 mxf files with assistance of the Canon plug in for FCP X.

Yes SOME of the imports are there as managed media in the Orig Media folder.

I am very new to iweb but on my last blog[non iweb] when a person left a comment they also could leave their email and web address. I found this very handy for answeriing questions or responding to comments. I also enjoyed visiting my reader's sites. Does iweb allow this? If so I haven't figured out how to set it up and would appreciate any help....

Ah I see that now on the web site itself but not from iweb~ my last blog I could see comments and their name was hyperlinked to website and also I could reply to them directly from comment on my template. Now I can link to their websites from mine[not iweb itself] and there is no email them back function... unless I am missing something?

My FCPX 10.0.3 won't export media. Help??

Working on a short film and all of a sudden, clicking export media does nothing. I don't know what to do or how this happened. I did update my macbook pro to 10.9.4 recently, could that have anything to do with it? They say I might have to reinstall the program but I 'm afraid of losing my project file. LOg in to App Store with your ID that you used to buy FCPX and click on update. If you can not see it in updates, move your current copy to the trash and check for purchases and click on install.

FCPX wont export? Error message within

So I'm trying to export a video using FCPX version 10.0 and when I try to export it nothing happens at all. No window comes up, nothing, no response. When I try to upload to Youtube or export to Apple devices it says 'The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)'
What does that mean?
I'm using an iMac OSX 10.9.

10.0 will not run on Mavericks. You must update to 10.1..3. Why have you not updated for more than 3 years. You did buy from App Store, yes ?
