FCS2 Update dilemma

I want to update using the update method mentioned when you have ozone problems. In a previous post there are steps to remedy this by installing the 2007 updates in order before installing all other FCS apps. I've just been on the update page and the earliest update is Pro App 2008 - 01
Whats the best option of what to do because I want it right this time. BTW I'm very tempted to stay on Motion 3.0 because I haven't had a single crash on that version BUT all my FCP projects are 6.0.6 so they won't open so I need to update that but I can't without the pro app updates.

Not sure what the fix to your problem is.
Odd thing I notice in your description is that you assume the latest iTunes version is 10.5.3.
It isn't, that's quite an old version number: iTunes 11 was just released. (many issues with it according to the forum activity, but that aside)
How exactly did you perform the update?
Did you use "software-update" in the apple menu?
Or did you download it (as a .dmg file) from the Apple website and install it from there?
Is it possible that the older version of iTunes you have, was moved earlier in the past, to another location, (not it's default location in the application folder), so the update failed to remove the older version, so your iTunes icon in the dock still points to that, resulting in this errror message?
When you go to the application folder, and select iTunes, press command+I (get info), what version number do you see there? If it says version 11, then try to launch it from there, and see if you still get this error message.
Don't know if that's technically possible, just thinking what might have happened. I find it strange that you think 10.5.3 is the latest version...
