FCS2: Useful Tutorials?

I finally picked up Final Cut Studio 2 yesterday and installed it this morning on my MBP. I'm impressed with the possibilities of this bundle.
I'm not starting without a knowledge of editing and sound: I have experience with a number of other NLEs. That said, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to delve much deeper into prodcution work than I have in the past. I finally have a system for myself rather than sharing a laptop or desktop system with a number of other employees.
I've been doing some additional research for training programs for the system beyond the basics. Certified training programs in the Chicagoland area are surprisingly expensive, usually around $1,100 per class with five classes designated for Final Cut Pro alone.
I'd also like to learn at my own pace, as my schedule is chaotic. I found a bundle at http://www.macprovideo.com for example. It's listed on Apple's site for support and training.
I'm looking for worthwhile suggestions anyone may have regarding tutorials. Of course, there's always the manuals bundled into FCS2, but I'm much more a "visual" learner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Windows 8.0 use tutorials do not work.

When I go to the tutorials for use of Windows 8.0 the tile shows up and I click on either the triangle in the middle of the tutorial or on the triangle at the beginning of the progress bar the selected tutorial switches back to the opening tiles screen. A few times the tutorial tries to start and freezes or tries to start and goes back to the opening tiles screen. Does the same regardless of which tutorial is chosen.

Some questions I have involve:
Having the navigation bar at the top always be present no matter where you're at on the page (I'm guessing I have to pin it there).
Are there any fundamental rules with doing a single-page design in Muse?
Like what's a typical width for pages like this?
Can I design the entire page in Photoshop and then easily output it to Muse?
That's basically it. This will be my first webpage I'm doing in Muse and so I'm just trying to start off on the right track. Any help will be much appreciated.

To create a single page side, you need to use Anchors. Depending on your site design, you may want to use scrolling feature as well.

Element 9 - problem using tutorials on Mac?

Mac OSX 10.9

Leopard harder to use than Win XP

About a year ago I switched from Win XP to an iMac running OS X v 10.5. There are a lot of features that XP has that OS X doesn't that make XP much easier to use.
Manipulating windows is much easier in XP because you can grab any corner or side of a window and resize it. What i don't like about the MAC is that I must grab the lower right hand corner of the window to resize it. And heaven forbid that corner gets hidden under the dock.... Also, in XP you can open an application in it's own window and then float documents within that window. I find that easier to work with than the way the MAC deals with it's windows. And I just hate spaces - I find them annoying.
Is there any way to get some of the XP interface features onto my MAC?

I have totally forgotten my answers for the security and when i try to reset them by using the tutorial it says there should be a reset button at the bottom but there isn't one, please help

How do you download a static file using a FileReference and URLRequest and show the progress?

   I'm trying to download static content (PDFs) off of my server using tutorials from adobe's site and some online as well and i'm having no luck showing an updated progress bar. I attached the meat of my code below. If a user clicks a hyperlink, it calls the downloadPDF method passing in a constant url defined.
When debugging, i can see that the event.bytesLoaded is incrementing on each call to the progress method, however the bytesTotal is only set to the intitial number of bytes transferred on the first pass through the method. (Ex: First time the method is called, bytesLoaded and bytesTotal will be 4,000... which i dont understand... the bytesTotal should be the total size of the file being downloaded.. definitely not the case... the next time the method is called, bytesLoaded will increases to some number while bytesTotal will remain at 4,000). This happens during the entire file transfer.
Am i missing something? Are the examples incorrect? Also to note, i'm using sdk 3.2 (Not sure if that makes a difference.)

The tick counter has a resolution of 1 ms. Resolution, accuracy, and the responsiveness of the OS are three different things. The issue is that OS latency can be 10s of milliseconds or occasionally longer. If the OS decides to index the hard drive between the time you read the tick count and send the start audio command, your tone could be quite late. Sending the TTL pulse is a third call to the OS. So you have two latency times for each trial. Unless you have a real-time operating system, this latency issue will introduce randomness into your data.
Try sending TTL pulses of 50 ms duration every 200 ms, software timed, for a few minutes and look at the variation in the edge timing. Then try it again with tones thrown into the mix and see if the variation changes.
That is where hardware timing and synchronization pays off.

I just installed the LiveType Media files, and haven't noticed any additions to the LiveType Library.
Am I missing something?

According the the specs, FCS2 uses LiveType 2, which is what FCS1 used. So there shouldn't be a difference.

File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
Then navigate to My Pictures and choose all sub-folders.

Creating dynamic sites - tutorials?

I've created many static websites, but need to QUICKLY learn
how to develop dynamic sites. I've not found many useful tutorials.
I'm also wondering if there are any useful extensions that may
streamline the process.
Here is some of what I need to do:
* Create a section that has an "Ask the expert" form w/
later-posted answers. I'd need a form and table to collect the
questions. I'd also need to be able to have the expert be able to
enter her answers and then have those questions and answers
displayed back to end users.
* Create a searchable or by-topic selection of the "ask the
expert" questions and answers.
* I need to create a back end (?) so that the "expert" can
add content, view questions, etc.
Ideas for how I can start?

Create a custom Flash Player tutorials?

Greetings,
Does anyone know of some easy to use tutorials I can use for
creating a custom Flash Player.
What I am after is a simplified player that I can embed in
projects initially created using Macromedia/Adobe Captivate. The
Player needs to be simple and can be built into the swf/fla project
(if possible, another version that would stand outside the project
and play a swf embedded on an html page).
This may fall under the heading od "skinning", but what I
want needs to be versitile and customizable.

I don't really know how to do this but I've seen some things that make me think it isn't that hard to do at all.
You should be able to install "cue points" when you encode the video in the Media Encoder.
I'm sure there's a very simple way to make links which would target those cue points.
5k is absurd.

Note! The screen prints in this article are from ECC 5.0. They may differ slightly in other versions.
Introduction:
This document details the usage of BAPI in LSMW. We have used the example of migration of the purchase order data into SAP.
Pre-requisites:
It is assumed that the reader of this article has the minimum knowledge required on the Business Object, BAPI, Message Types and IDoc Types.
Step-by-Step Procedure:
Details of the BAPI used in this scenario:
Business Object: BUS2012
Method: CreateFromData
Details of Message Type and Basic IDoc Type:
Message Type: PORDCR
Basic IDoc Type: PORDCR02
Lets have a look at the BAPI first, before proceeding to the LSMW:
1. Go to Transaction BAPI
2. Click on Search Button
3. Enter the value BUS2012 and select Obj.type(Technical Object Name
4. Press ENTER
5. Following screen appears:
6. On the left side of the screen, Expand the PurchaseOrder.
7. Select PurchaseOrder and double-click on the same for details.
Building LSMW using BAPI:
1. Go to Transaction LSMW.
2. Enter the Project, Subproject and Object information and click on CREATE.
3. Enter the descriptions for Project, Subproject and Object as prompted.
4. Now select Settings à IDoc Inbound Processing
5. IDoc Inbound Processing screen appears. Enter the required details as shown below:
6. Click on Activate IDoc Inbound Processing.
7. Click on Yes when prompted for Activate IDoc Inbound?
8. Hit on Back to return to the main screen.
9. Click on Continue (F8). Following Screen appears:
10. Select the Step 1 Maintain Object Attributes and select Execute.
11. Select the radio button Business Object Method and enter the following details:
Business Object: BUS2012
Method: CreateFromData
Hit ENTER
12. Save and click on BACK button. Following information message is displayed.
13. Now select step 2 Maintain Source Structures and click Execute.
14. In this step, we need to maintain the source structure. In our example, lets consider the example of a file with 2 structures Head and Item data as shown below:
Click on Create and name the source structure as HEADERDATA. Now select HEADERDATA and click on Create again to create the child structure. Following popup appears:
Select Lower Level and click on Continue. Enter the Item data structure name.
Click Save and hit BACK button to go to the main screen.
15. Select step 3 Maintain Source Fields and hit execute.
16. Enter the fields as shown below:
17. Click SAVE and return to main screen.
18. Select step 4 Maintain Structure Relations and click Execute.
Select E1PORDCR and click on CREATE RelationShip. Following screen appears:
Select HEADERDATA and hit ENTER
Similarly do the same for the structure E1BPEKKOA, E1BPEKPOC and E1BPPEKET.
Click Save and return to main screen.
19. Select the step Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules and click on execute. Maintain the Field Mapping as seen below:
20. Select step 7 Maintain Source Files and provide the link for the test file created. (Create a test file with the same structure as defined earlier).
Save and return to main screen.
21. Select the step Assign Files and click on Execute.
Assign the file provided to the source structure. Here the same file is provided for both the structures.
Save and return to the main screen.
22. Select the step Read Data and click on Execute.
Click on Execute.
Return to the main screen.
23. Select the step Display read data and click on execute.
Click on the structure name to get the field level values.
24. Return to main screen and now select Convert Data.
25. Return to the main screen and select Display Converted data.
26. Return to main screen and select Start IDoc generation.
27. Now select the step Start IDoc Processing on the main screen.
28. Return to main screen and click on Create IDoc overview. Here the data record and status records of the IDoc could be viewed:
