FCutExpress HD 3.5, HOw do I Treat an Image Sequence as a Video clip?

And edit it as if it was a video clip
My images are an animation i exported from a 3d program, but i exported as IMage sequence using PNG format.
I know how to import into Final cut,, but I'm not sure how to edit them as a BLOCK, and drag them to the viewer so i can workr with them as if it was a video clip.( I tried selecting them all in the timeline and dragging to the viewer and it seemed to work but in the viewer it was only one image(one frame ) )
Then also how would i add video transitions and effects as if the image sequence was actually a video clip?

Hi -
You can use Quicktime Pro to make the clip, if your images are sequentially numbered. Open Quicktime, choose File>Open Image Sequence, and select the first frame of your images. Quicktime will ask what your frame rate you want and then create the movie.
Once it is done, go File>Export and choose Movie to Quicktime Movie. Then select Options, and select the codec etc, that you want to edit with (DV, HDV, Animation, etc.) and then export the file and save the exported file.
Import that file into FCE and you should be ready to go, it will behave like any other movie clip.
Hope this helps.

In  Imovie '11, how can I drag more than one set of video clips into my project.  I know how to highlight in yellow and drag the set, but can I drag a group of sets?  Thanks

To select multiple clips, hold down the command key as you click multiple clips. Then you can drag them all at once.
To drag all clips at once, select one, then Edit/Select All. Then drag them all.

  • How do I display the complete time sequence for a video clip in iMovie?

How do I display the time complete time sequence for a video clip in iMovie?
I'm trying to create a movie for someone where they provided me the video clips and what time sequences they want extracted.  For example:  Video footage from time 5m22s to 9m:18s and 11m17s to 15m31s from the imported video clip.  I know you can select video but I cannot figure out how to select from those requested time markers.
    Any help would be apreciated.

Open the file using QuickTime Player and then open the Movie Inspector window.

  • How can I export a still picture from a video clip?

How can I export a still picture from a video clip?

I'm able to export stills from iMovie without anything extra. I create a new project - call it Exports say. Now, in your event clip with the frames you want as stills, select a single frame and drag it into your project. Repeat for other stills you want to export. Then choose Share -> Export Using QuickTime.
In the pop-up, choose Movie to Image Sequence. Click Options and choose the image format you want. Playing with the number of stills lets you pick how many stills you want from each second of video. Hit OK and the stills will be generated in the directory you choose.
I've only done this with HD video. Don't know how well it works with lower res, interlaced vid.

  • How do I apply a filter to an entire video clip?

I'm trying to find out how to apply a filter, e.g. Oil Painting, to an entire video clip and not just one frame.
Been trying to work with keyframes but it wont happen - all I get when applying a filter from the Filter Gallery
is a filter applied to just one frame (not even a second of the video clip i.e.).
So, the question is: is it even possible to apply a filter from the gallery to an antire video clip? If so, how?
    Thank you very much!

Tried it, works like a charm!
    Thank you!

  • How can I highlight a particular person in a video clip?

I'm working on a project in iMovie that involves video clips of baseball games. There's a particular player that I'd like to highlight somehow; like place an arrow to point him out, or place a circle around him, etc. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I couldn't find anything in the tutorials or iMovie help. Thanks!

  • How to add a rectangle color frame for the video clips ?

    Hi there,
I have shrink the 3 video clips small enough to fit all 3 of them into 1 screen.
And now I want tomake a border rectangle color frame for these 3 video clips.
Any tips on how I shall start ?
    Thanks & regards
    Cheers

I have a feeling it can't be done because the border will probably go round the original full size video.
A workaround would be to use the Custom generator to make a rectangle which you resize and put above the background.
Then put your video you want framed on top of the lot and resize it so that a bit of the coloured Custom generator is showing all the way round.
It's gonna be fiddly but simple enough in theory!
Thanks Ian, that was a good idea.
But my cropped video clip is a video clip being color-keyed (ie my video clip has alpha channel & the background is transparent). So putting a colour image behind the clip does not work because it will be seen through the alpha channel.
    Any tips ?
    Thanks

  • How can I make the wireframe identical for various video clips?

    Hello,
For the end credits on a small movie, I would like the video clips to be much smaller, and the background to be black. I know how to make the clips smaller on the screen, and this is done by adjusting the wireframe.
I am trying to have the wireframe remain in its identical size and location across various clips but cannot figure how to do this other than change the wireframe independently for each single video clip, making it an approximate job.
Is there a way to ensure that the properties of the wireframe (size, position) remain constant for a series of clips? I have tried to find some properties settings for the wireframe which I could replicate for all clips but this search has proved unsuccessful.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Use the Paste Attributes command as detailed in this link:

Instead of checking the Filters box, check the Basic Motion box.

  • How to add audio to image sequence?

I've imported a Photoshop image sequence into FCP X 10.1.1.  Dropped it on the timeline, created a compound clip.  So far I can't figure out how to add audio of any kind.  I've tried starting over, making sure properties had audio setting enabled.  No change though.  No matter what I try, no audio tab in the inspector.  What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Michael

Are you importing an audio file that is seperate? Otherwise it is attached to your video. in the timeline, choose expand audio & video. You can import almost any format. Import it into the same event that you are in - a song from your desktop or from your folder where you copied all your contents from your camera card or music from ITunes (in which case you use the audio tab on the far right of the timeline UNDER THE INSPECTOR).
How did you import your media?:

  • How do you know the bit rate of a video clip?

I have video clips from my video camera recorded in MPEG 2, PAL standard definition 720x576. 2 questions:
    1. How can I find out what bit rate the video is recorded at?
    2. Knowing this, can I in PProCS4 encode this for DVD without any transcoding (assuming, of course, no effects or fades etc have been added)?
I like to keep the coding the same, to avoid the quality loss of transcoding to a different bit rate.
I use 256 kb/s audio in MPEG 1 layer 2 (pretty much standard DVD format).
    Any info appreciated.

In Ulead Mediastudio Pro, you can see the data rate of the video, and also in DVD Movie Factory select "do not convert..." etc, where un-edited clips are not transcoded, to give maximum picture quality. I dropped MSP, as Corel (having taken over Ulead) has, sadly' dropped the product, so I bought PProCS4 hoping it would be at least as capable. Alas. Having said that, in most respects PPro is as good or better than MSP, and runs fine on Vista and Win7 beta (which I am using now), so I am still happy I get PPro.

  • How does FCP Pro X handle mixed frame rate video clips?

My camcorders are by Canon and both can shoot 50i or 25p. Normally I shoot 25p to avoid interlace artefacts. As I understand it, FCP Pro X conforms the clips to match the initial clip in the storyline. But what would be the outcome if I included clips from another camcorder that only offered 30p? Would those clips be converted to 25p if the initial clip was 25p. Or, would the 25p clips be converted to 30p if the initial clip was 30p?
Assuming I made a movie entirely out 30p footage, would that be uploaded to You-Tube at that frame rate?  If my movie is 25p is that converted to 30p for You-Tube upload? Could I otherwise export a QT movie to my desktop at 30 fps or any other frame rate?
It seems that the 25p setting on my camcorders still means that the recording is made as 50i but repackaged somehow. Can anyone explain please?
Yes, I am in the UK in a PAL environment.
    AW.

Subsequent clips will be converted to match the project settings created by the first clip into the timeline. I don't know how well FCP does this timebase conversion from NTSC to PAL frame rates or vice versa. Compressor would probably do a better job. There is also Standard Conversion software from Graeme Nattress that will do an excellent job.
YouTube will take either. You would need to use Compressor to change the frame rate on export, though you don't want to do that unless you absolutely have to.
Most consumer cameras do not actually shoot 25 separate frames when they're set to 25p. They shoot what's called segmented frames, two fields just as the 50i setting, only the two fields are supposed to be identical. That's the theory; in practice some cameras do this better than others.

  • How do I edit out the middle of a video clip?

I am used to shortening a movie clip on either end, but don't know how to cut out a portion in the middle. Please help me. Thank you.

  • How to fade background music out and fade in video clip audio Final Cut Pro X

I am putting together videos and photos made during one of the trips, and I have background music running throughout the whole movie, but I want to fade this music during some parts of the video to hear the original speech/sounds of it, and then increase the volume of background music again. I know that in iMovie it is done in a few simple steps, and it almost automatically fades the music in/out. But I cannot find any similar options in Final Cut Pro X, how do you do it there? (I have 10.1.2 version)

This is very easy to do.
Press the letter R to switch to the Range tool. Drag the appropriate range in the audio clip. Press A to go back to the normal arrow tool. Drag the volume down. (Alternatively, instead of pressing R and then A, you can just hold down the letter R while you drag; then release and you are still using the arrow tool)

  • How can i grabb some image using an usb video grabber in Labview 7?

How can i make a list with all video and audio devices?
How to use DirectShow functions in Labview 7?

    Hi,
I can help you out with the audio part of your question: the Windows API has a set of functions called waveOutGetNumDevs and waveInGetNumDevs that give you the number of available devices for input or output. Then you can use waveInGetDevCaps and waveOutGetDevCaps to get more information on each device; with some work you could get the manufacturer and formats supported.
I have very limited knowledge on DirectShow; however it is based on COM so you shold be able to access it with LabVIEW's ActiveX capabilities.
    I hope this helps.
