FDERecovery Agent, what is it?

Hello.  I am seeing a message in Console that is new to me (OSX 10.8.4).  I Goggled it, but it does not seem to native to Macs.  Anyone have an idea what FDERecovery Agent is?  Gave me this message:
7/25/13 4:37:19.667 PM FDERecoveryAgent[81]: No recovery record to post (this may be normal if you change keys more frequently then the recovery service can be contacted)
Thanks.

FDERecoveryAgent sends encrypted CoreStorage key recovery information to  Apple.
It is run only when "Store the recovery key with Apple" is  selected, and even then only if the information could not be transmitted  when that option was first selected.

  • Responsable agents: What's better? Role or expression (variable)

    Friends,
    I'm thinking about make things in the better way to improve the system performance.
    I have a dialog task that are sent to reponsables by a variable or expression configured in the own task. This variable is filled in a background task before this task.
    Does anybody know what is the best way to do this in about performance ? If I change this functionality by a role if it will be better to performance.

    Ok friends,
    Each sub-wf searches by actual agents...but any sub-wf can be canceled and back to its father or can terminate both workflows.
    I think the normal way is to use all the agents and a think I can (as ... had said) populate all the agents in the begin of the wf (maybe the father)...even I don't use all agent's virtual attributes/variables during the wf's... I think that searching for all the agents in a only time is best to performance.
    I'm studying about it to the things better here....I think putting it (searching for all the agents) in the beginning of wf, will help in making the sub wf's run faster and will create each sub-wf's work items faster too, because it won't this step (searching for all the agents) before each one...
    I think it solves two problems here...because here, another problem is that some times the Ztransaction trigger some terminating events for tasks that didn't had time to process and be created and standing for this terminating events...but it is another problem that I'll try to study for improve the wf design too.
    I didn't know if both of you have recognized my problem....or design....but here each sub-wf has a step before dialog task that searches agents for its next dialog step by filling a multi-line variable that represents the agents to the dialog tasks...

  • SIMBL Agent--what is it and why is its virtual memory footprint 30gb+?

    Loud fan noises. Discovered something called SIMBL Agent was using well over 30 gigabytes of virtual memory. 2nd place was Safari at only 1.5!
    So, the question of the day is
    What is SIMBL Agent?
    What is it doing?
    And should I be concerned at 30gb+ of space being consumed?
    (OK, so thats 3 questions of the day! )

    Thanks for the reply! My understanding is that virtual memory uses hard drive space... so 30 GB+ is excessive, right? Or, has "virtual memory" taken on a new meaning in Leopard, or OS X.
    Virtual Memory information is mostly meaningless, except to software developers and very few of them.
    Virtual Memory is often times filled with holes of unused address space. The application code is mapped into this space, and the disk used for this is the actual executable code.
    All the shared libraries and application frameworks that the application uses are mapped into the virtual address space, often times with empty gaps in the address space. Again the disk used are the shared library and framework files.
    If the application has loadable modules, such as browser or photoshop add-ons, then these get mapped into virtual address space. And the disk for this comes from the add-on files. Also these add-ons are most likely mapped into the virtual address space with gaps between them and other code.
    Then comes the data used by the application. This comes in different flavors. Some might be memory mapped files, where an explicit file accessed as if it is part of memory (vs doing read/write operations). If the file is huge, then the virtual address space needed to map it will be large as well. Or an application can memory map a bunch of smaller files, but if you have enough of them then that adds up to a lot of virtual address space.
    NOTE: when memory mapping a file, the application has the opiton of specifying where in the virtual address space it would like the file to be mapped. So it is very possible for an application to specify they would like to map a file at the 29GB address offset, and everything from the lower address up to the now memory mapped file at 29GB is empty address space. No RAM and no disk associated with this gap.
    So far everything I've mentioned does not need swapfile space, as real files are used for all of the above.
    The application stack is mapped into the virtual address space. Since the stack grows as the application calls subroutines, it is necessary to leave lots of unmapped addresses for the stack to grow into. Since most stacks to not grow that big, a lot of that virtual address space is never mapped to RAM nor disk.
    And there is the actual data being worked on by the application. This could be local variables used as part of the program flow control, or it could be buffers used to hold data the program is working on. This data would get allocated potential space in swapfiles (/var/vm/swapfile*), however, if the operating system does not run out of RAM, then it will not need to actually create any additional space in the swapfiles.
    Now I have no idea what your 30GB application is doing with all of its virtual address space. And it is possible that it is using all of it, and forcing RAM to /var/vm/swapfile* files. If you really want to know, you can always use the vmmap command from a terminal (man vmmap).
    However, in my experience, no one really cares. All they really want to know is whether their Mac is spending a lot of time paging. And for that I like to use Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    sar -g 50 100
    The command will display pageout information once a minute for 100 minutes (adjust values to suite your tastes).
    Now you do your normal work. When you come back an look at the sar output, if it is mostly zero or some small values, or a momentary burst, then you really do not need to worry. If you have sustained high values, or if you notice a the Mac is slow at the same time you getting high pageout numbers, then you could benefit from more memory, or running fewer apps at the same time.

  • Cisco agent desktop - issue

    hello, we have an issue with two agents.
    when they open chat, all the time "Initializing" state, every 30 seconds, so active state every 30 seconds begins from 0, and new calls arrive to this agent
    what is could be?
    thank you

    Hi,
    When using CAD Chat window, I cannot see any other agent, although some are logged.
    I tried the following "telnet" commands :
    From agent to Chat server:         telnet 59000 ===> This works fine !
    From Chat server to agent:         telnet 59020  ====> Doesn't work
    From Agent to Agent :               telnet 127.0.0.1 59020                      ====> Doesn't work
    From Agent to Agent :               telnet 59020  ====> Doesn't work
    This seems like the listening port is not configured properly, but I don't where to check/define it ?
    Do you have any idea on this ?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Get User Agent (Browser) in Webdynpro 7.01

    Hello Community,
    Some time ago, I already asked this question. Then, we were on NW04. That was the Thread: [Old Thread|Get User Agent (Browser) in Webdynpro;
    The solution to retrieve the User-Agent was:
    HttpServletRequest request =((IWebContextAdapter) WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter()).getHttpServletRequest();
    Now, "IWebContextAdapter" does not work anymore. So I'm in need of another solution. The suggestion of
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest)WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject();
    String value = request.getHeader("<Param Name>");
    in the old thread still throws a "ClassCastException".
    I have also found this Thread: [Other Thread|Get User Agent;
    But here the suggestion is
    HttpServletRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject().getProtocolRequest();
    String userAgent = request.getHeader("User-Agent");
    what doesn't work, because it seems, there is no method "getProtocolRequest()".
    I'd be glad, if anyone would suggest a working way of how to retrieve the User Agent in webdynpro NW 7.0 EHP 1 SPS 04.
    Thank you very much,
    Best regards,
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
    Can you try using this line of code. You can directly get the value of the request object using this.
    WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject().getParameter("parameter_name");
    // There is getParameterMap() method in which you can know what all parameters are available to be captured.
    Map parameterMap =   WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject().getParameterMap();
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Agent in ODI

    Hi Gurus,
    Please give me some basic idea on ODI Agent(what is it?What it does etc).
    Edited by: Anindya Chatterjee on May 2, 2012 9:25 AM

    ODI Agent is a lightweight Java process that orchestrates the execution of ODI scenarios.
    The ODI Agent can be installed to allow for lights-out processing of ODI scenarios developed with Designer :
    as a Java EE Agents in a Oracle WebLogic Server (since 11g), and automatically benefit from the clustering, load-balancing, data-sources and connection pooling features available with the application server.
    as a service (Standalone Agents) for instance in the case where the agent needs to be located close to the data, or on systems where Oracle WebLogic Server is not a viable option,
    It integrates the Scheduler to execute the interfaces according to a predefined schedule.

  • GWIA agent backup?

    I have a SLES server that hosts the GW 8 secondary domain/GWIA and Webaccess agent, what is the best way to backup this server without having to buy groupwise open agent?
    Is there a easy way that I can copy the domain files when the MTA is up to a backup folder so that I can use regular backup agent to backup the domain data files?
    For GWIA & WebAccess, if there is a problem, do I just install GWIA & WebAccess on it and it should use the GWIA / WebAccess object in eDirectory?

    Whatever method you like. THere is absolutely no need whatsoever for any
    special agent.
    > Is there a easy way that I can copy the domain files when the MTA is up
    Have you ever tried it? YOu can copy wpdomain.db whenever you like, with
    whatever tool you like. It's not locked under normal operations.

    As long as you point the install to the restored wpdomain.db, yes. Note
    that some configuration is in other files, for instance gwac.db holds
    the access control info of GWIA.

  • SNMP Agent in Oracle 11.2g

    Hello all
    I wanted to use SNMP agent in Oracle 11.2g, but I read that this agent is deprecated from the Oracle 11G. I also read in a thread that Oracle will continue the support till 2018. Which one is true??
    If I can't use SNMP agent what is your suggestion for its substitution?? Can I use Oracle Management Agent??
    My Os : Microsoft Server 2000
    Thatnk you alll

    Oracle recommends to stop using SNMP going forward. Though the extended support for SNMP will be valid until Jan 2018 (Refer Metalink 1341834.1) .
    The reason is not clearly given. They have mentioned that from oracle database 12 cloud control onwards , SNMP is completely removed. Probably that is the reason.
    It might be okay to use it, until your environment gets upgraded to oracle 12c.

  • EM Agent creation failure

    Hi,
    Im installing oracle forms 11g with weblogic on oracle linux 6.5 and configuration process stalls at creating of EM Agent. what exactly causes this and how can I solve this. Kindly assist, Ill highly appreciate

    Hi,
    This mainly happens due to timezone not properly set in the emagent properties file and the other reason could be due to IPV6 entry in the etc/hosts file.
    1. Check the /etc/hosts file and make sure it reads:
    127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain
    <ipaddress> <hostname.domain>
    2. Also comment the entries in the hosts file which start with (::)
    #::1
    3. For the timezone issue , refer to the below doc which is even applicable in case of Forms installation.

  • Agents: Method or Rule - WF more robust vs. better performance

    Hi all,
    we are in ECC 6.0 and building several workflows to cater for HR processes. These workflows will be implemented globally.
    Earlier this year, this thread talked a bit about this and I am using some of the statements from it in this post:
    Responsable agents: What's better? Role or expression (variable)
    We are writing a function module to Find Manager. What I am trying to determine is the best way to use this function module. I can either create a method to call it, or I can create a rule (called 'role' up to 4.6) to call it or I can create a virtual attribute to call it.
    This function module will be called a lot as most of the workflows will involve the employee's Manager.
    If implemented as a method, an RFC is used and I will need 2 steps in the WF - but I will be able to 'trap' any errors returned by the function module, e.g. manager not found, and use the returned exceptions within the workflow. The method can be implemented in a generic WF_UTILITY class/BOR, it doesn't need to be linked to a particular class/BOR.
    If implemented as a rule, it is 1 step instead of 2 - less logs, better performance. But if the rule fails, the workflow goes into error. I do not think there is a way to avoid the workflow going into error.
    I might be able to create a virtual attribute for it, but one of the parameters for the function module is the workflow that is calling it & it will also mean that I would have to make sure that every workflow has an instance of the object that I implement the virtual attribute.
    Is it worthy to 'trap' the errors and deal with it within the workflow? Or it is better to let the workflow go into error?
    Please let me know your thoughts on this one.
    Much thanks and regards,
    Cristiana

    I agree with Raja that you should choose the approach with rules. In your version you can also use tools to re-evaluate rules for active workflows to redetermine the agents, an option you lose if you implement it as a virtual attribute.
    Let the rule fail (flag HRS1203-ENFORCE set, the checkbox at the bottom of the rule definition screen) if no agent is found. Don't harcode sending it to anyone if no agent is found, that just gives you less flexibility. Whether the workflow administrator receives a work item in the inbox or sees it in the administrator transactions shouldn't make much difference to an administrator.
    If you want to avoid the workflow going into error (sending it to an administrator is not better than letting it go into error, it is just an error handling strategy) you must as in all programming have defined rules for handling the known problems. This could e.g. be a table which specifies who will receive the workflow (with as many parameters as you like for finding the most relevant person) if the proper agent can not be found. I have implemented solutions along those lines, but it always boils down to finding someone who will accept having responsibility for handling errors.
