FDM and FDM workbench

Hi,
Please tell me what is difference between FDM and FDM workbench.
Thanks in advance :)

The FDM web is the main interface for FDm when the Import of source data is performed, Mapping is Created, Locations are Built, etc.
The Workbench is strictly a Windows CLient tool for FDM administrators where the Adapters are imported and maintained for the target and source (if using ERPi).
The workbench is also used to import the reports for FDM and you can maintain scripts within the workbench (you can also maintain scripts from the web as well).

  • Constantly getting error 503 on FDM and HFM

    Hi,
We are new user, using version 11.2.2.3. Every time there are major processes that required a lot of resources (e.g consolidation, multiple load, multiple processes), our FDM/HFM server
server will spit out 503 error. It will lock the user and eventually kick them out of the system. We suspect there are something in the setting/configuration so that we can maximize the parallel processes better. We are not sure if this is the real issue. Our server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.

I would recommend going through the logs as a starting point. Check the Windows Event logs, HFM event log, ODL logs, etc. You could also fire up performance monitor to monitor key activity (memory utilization, CPU, locks, etc.)
HTTP 503 I believe is 'Internal Server Error' which would be a server error encountered executing the web application code. Is 'everything' breaking or only specific pieces of functionality? You mentioned HFM and FDM; however, is workspace and shared services broken as well? The 503 error implies the web side of things is down; however, what happens when you use the HFM client program or FDM Workspace client?
Without knowing a lot more about your environment, it would be very difficult to effectively troubleshoot this. Initial thought is that the server(s) you are using do not meet the minimum requirements for the application/users you have.
If you go to the document repository for 11.2.2 documentation library, you can find a lot of information in regards to deployment and troubleshooting. (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/nav/portal_1.htm)
If this is a critical, time-sensitive issue, you may need to reach out to Oracle or one of the 3rd party consulting companies to get this resolved. Trying to figure this out over forum posts may not be the most effective way to fix this.

  • HFM and FDM on Windows server 2008 - 64  bit

    Hi All,
We are installing HFM and FDM on Windows server 2008 - 64 bit.
For FDM we installed 32 bit oracle client and for HFM 64 bit client.
When trying to Configure HFM the database Configuration is failing.
    Appreciate all your support.

I was not able to get both HFM and FDM to work on the same node due to differences in the 32/64 bit Oracle Client requirements. I suggest moving FDM to another node where you can install the 32 bit client without effecting HFM.

  • Is this script still valid for setting up Drill through between HFM and FDM

Guys hoping some one can shed a light.
I am running hfm and fdm realese 11.1.1.3.000
I am having issues setting up the SSO authentication (all the other steps have been done, and HFM is aware that I have uploaded information that can drill back). I am using an SSO script that was part of an Oracle presentation, but don't know if that script is still relevant.
Here is a copy of the script (Visual Basic Script SSO Authentication) :
    Function AuthenticateSSO(token, applicationName)
' Place your single sign-on authentication script here
' To signify an authentication failure, you should
' raise an error by calling the following method:
' Err.Raise [error number over 1000], [source], [description]
' Applicationname = FDMApplication in URL
    Const strProcSig = "AuthenticateSSO"
    Dim strUsername
    Dim strDomain
    Dim objHFMSSO
Dim strClusterName ' HFM cluster name
Dim strAppName ' HFM application name
    Set objHFMSSO = CreateObject("upsIntBlockFM40C.clsHypeWindowFM")
If Not objHFMSSO Is Nothing Then
    strClustername = "<xxxxxxxx>"
    Select Case ApplicationName
    Case "<xxxxxxxx>"
    strAppName = "<xxxxxxxx>"
    End Select
    strUsername = objHFMSSO.Connection.GetUsernameFromToken(CStr(Token), strClustername, strAppName)
    If Trim(strUsername & "") = "" Then
' Blank user name means the token is invalid.
    Set objHFMSSO = Nothing
Err.Raise 2655, strProcSig, "The Single Sign-on token is invalid."
    Else
' Return the user name from the authenticated token.
    AuthenticateSSO = strUsername
    End If
    End If
    Set objHFMSSO = Nothing
    End Function
After I input all the information requested, I always get the error Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
    Requested URL: /HyperionFDM/AuthorizedPages/IntersectionSummaryByLocation.aspx
I did saw a note about this error that suggested that I needed to re-register and deploy again FDM. Did, but still have the same issue. So the only thing that I don't control is the script and that is why I am asking if this script is still active and usable?

I have done all of that but I still get an error when trying to drill back. I am using the Admin ID which exist on both FDM and HFM but I am always getting the
    Server Error in '/' Application.
    The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
    Requested URL: /HyperionFDM/AuthorizedPages/IntersectionSummaryByLocation.aspx
So the only thing that I hadn't tried at the time was the SSO script. Which was what I did.

  • ERP INTEGRATOR and FDM

    Hi All
We have new  requirement our Source is PeopleSoft from that we want to load data to essbase and planning  using ERP Integrator
Previously we use to get text files from Peoplesoft and we use to load it FDM  to Planing & Essbase
What are prerequisites  to connect to Peoplesoft -> ERP Integrator -> FDM
Do we require ODI to connect to Peoplesoft ?
Can anyone explain  me the flow
    Thanks,

    Hi Tom
    We are using
    1. Hyperion 11.1.2.2  Essbase ,Planning and FDM
    2.ODI 11g
3.Now we want to Connect to Peoplesoft using ODI -> ERPi -> FDM ->Essbase and Planning
One is connecting ERPi & FDM through the use of the appropriate adapter, and additional metadata information.
If possible can u explain the above clearly
    Thanks

  • FDM and Hyperion Planning Mapping options

    Hi, Good Day
My team has an implementation of FDM and Hyperion Planning ver 11.1.2. We are basically using FMD because we need a place to maintain (user friendly) different mapping tables for the accounts dimensions, to be able to load data.
My questions are; when loading data, do we need to always map all the dimensions? Is there a way to avoid it?
For example in the model we have 300 accounts, 20 entities and 400 products. We need to map the accounts since they are different for all the entities (in the source data), however not the products. Therefore I want to avoid mapping the products (and maintaining this mapping) when loading the data. Is this feasible? Any ideas?
    Kind Regars

Any dimension you have active in FDM i.e. constitutes part of the target reference for data you want to load has to be mapped. If your products don't need any transformation during the mapping process i.e. they are one to one simply use a 'pass-thru map' i.e a wildcard Like map with * as the source and * as the target.

  • Whats the difference between FDM and ODI and DIM

    Hi Everyone,
Can Anyone explain the diff between FDM,ODI and DIM
    Thanks!
    Vaneet

FDM is purpose-built for--though not strictly limited to--loading financial data from external sources into Hyperion financial performance management applications, such as HFM, Planning, Essbase, etc. It it commonly used in financial consolidation/closing process, and it has many native features expected and required to support that type of activity. FDM is very well-suited to its intended purpose in serving the finance community of an enterprise. FDM is not so well-suited as a more generalized ETL tool, nor as a tool for maintaining application metadata.
ODI and DIM, on the other hand, are both general-purpose, enterprise-class ETL tools. Unlike FDM, they can be used to maintain application metadata, although they aren't necessarily the best tools to use for that purpose in every situation. Both tools are much more IT-centric than FDM.
DIM is actually Informatica PowerCenter bundled with some pre-build adapters for Hyperion products. In ODI vs. DIM, ODI is clearly Oracle's strategic product going forward.
A restricuted-use ODI license is now included with several Hyperion products (e.g., Planning), whereas FDM and DIM licenses are not. But if one of your main requirements is to transfer financial data in a consolidation process, FDM is hard to beat.

  • Whats the difference between ODI and FDM

    Hi Everyone,
Can Anyone explain the diff between FDM and ODI ?
    Thanks!
    Vaneet

ODI - Full extract, load and transform tool for moving data from heterogenous data sources to hetergenous targets.
FDM - A workflow based tool for users to import data from a file or database, create mappings, validate the mappings and then move the data in Hyperion EPM targets.
Where FDM is a predominantly user based interface that allows users to monitor and audit the progress of data (especially things like GL data), ODI is a significantly more technical tool and would - in all likelehood - be automated and potentially managed and monitored by the IT department.

  • ERPi and FDM for 11.1.2.2 - Source adapter?

    Hi, all
Could you please help on the following questions about ERPi and FDM for 11.1.2.2
    1. In general, what is a source adapter used for?
    2. In the FDM installation package, there is an adapter (ERPI-FIN-E) for ERP integrator.
I would like clarify if my understanding below is correct or not.
My understanding is that this adapter allows automation on execution of ERPi data load rules in the FDM application, which means we can kick start the data load rule of ERPi by scheduled FDM jobs.
Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi,
    1. Classic FDM source adapters are used to import data from native supported source system (EBS, SAP, ERPI) instead of files or databases. Let´s say that in some how the extract process is already packaged so you can extract from source system what the adapter does
    2. You are right, as ERPI is a transition product between Classic FDM and FDMEE (11.1.2.3), there were some FDM functionality missing in ERPI. Therefore you had to use a mix of ERPI and FDM in order to get the full functionality. You use ERPI to extract data and FDM to process it (scripting, intersection validation report, etc.)
In 11.1.2.3, this gap is even smaller as now we have scripting, intersection validation report, and other functionality within FDMEE 11.1.2.3 (re-branded ERPI). The source adapter for Classic FDM still exists.
In 11.1.2.4, as classic FDM will not be available anymore -> no more source adapter :-)
    Hope that helps

  • FDM and HFR for Essbase ??

    Guys,
We have a requirement to report chart of accounts, etc through Essbase from Oracle ERP and I want to validate the following
    1) Can we use FDM/ODI and connect to Essbase from ERP for building cubes and loading data?
    2) Can we use HFR to connect to Essbase cubes for reports?

For question 1 it may be worth having a read of the ERPi doc to see what it is capable of - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/erpi_admin/launch.html
Depending on your system ERPi may be able to do what you are looking for -
"ERP Integrator supports loading data into EPM applications from general ledger source systems and also writing back budget data from target EPM Planning applications to general ledger source systems.
    • Loading data from the General Ledger Source System - ERP Integrator supports loading data from general ledger source systems. ERP Integrator can load both metadata (dimension members and hierarchies) from the ERP source system as well as the related data."
There are other possibilities like loading data into FDM and pushing into essbase or not even using FDM, metadata would have to be built another way e.g. load rules, ODI.
Second question the answer is Yes.
    Cheers

  • FDQM and FDM

    Hi all,
Can you tell me the difference between FDM and FDQM?
    Thanking you.

There is not FDQM. The acronym for Fiancial Data Quality Management is FDM.
Sometimes people throw the Q in there, but for all product/marketing purposes it is FDM

  • Change Management and Test Workbench for documentation

    Hi,
I would like some clarification on the association between change requests and test workbench.
I'm going through scenarios such as creating a maintenance project, creating a task list and service message and then creating a transport request.
During these steps, I want to document the test results prior to migrating these transports into the production system.
My questions are - how do you link the maintenance project and also urgent corrections to a test procedure and documentation. It appears that by using solar01/solar02 and stwb_2/stwb_work, these tests are linked to a project and not necessarily a "change request"
I greatly appreciate if you can elaborate the association between the various areas a bit clearer for me.
    Thanks!!!

You need to look for information on usage type "DI", "Development Infrastructure" or "NWDI" (all common abbreviations for the same thing).  There were some very good presentations on NWDI at TechEd this year.

  • New install of mariadb and mysql-workbench - some questions

So I've installed mariadb along with mysql-workbench.  These were fresh installs on a system which has never had mariadb/mysql installed previously.  Per the Wiki, I installed mariadb and mysql-workbench, started and enabled the service, and ran the mysql_secure_installation script.  I then added a non-root user and even imported a database into it.  Everything seems fine, though I have never used either MySQL, mariadb, or mysql-workbench before.
I have a  couple of questions:
    Question 1:
When I run mysql-workbench, I have to run it with the command “gksudo mysql-workbench” or it comes up in a locked form that doesn't give me (user) access.  I am presuming that this is simply because my user account is not a member of the mysql group and that if I changed that, I'd be able to run it with a simple “mysql-workbench” command.
The question is: Should I do that, or is there a good security reason to not have the user be a member of the mysql group?  (Would the current setup (having to run “gksudo” be a problem if I installed the mariadb on my server (rather than locally) and mysql-workbench locally?)
The Wiki doesn't say anything about adding the user to the mysql group, so I don't know if that's just an implied standard practice, or if there is good reason not to do so.
    Question 2:
When I try to connect to the database with mysql-workbench, it presents me with a password prompt, as expected, then I get a message box that says:
Incompatible/nonstandard server version or connection protocol detected (10.0.17).
A connection to this database can be established but some MySQL Workbench
features may not work properly since the database is not fully compatible
with the supported versions of MySQL.
MySQL Workbench is developed and tested for MySQL Server versions 5.1, 5.5, 5.6 and 5.7
Clicking “Continue Anyway” lets me in and connects everything up and seems to work fine.  However, the tab at the top says “Local Instance 33061 - Warning - not supported”.
I presume this has something to do with the fact that I am running mysql-workbench as the front end not to MySQL, but mariadb - and functionality that I've tried seems to work fine.
So my question is: Is there more to this warning (should I be changing some default setting to make everything play nice), or is this just one of those warnings that mean nothing really, and everything IS playing nice already?
    Thanks,
    Andre

presume this has something to do with the fact that I am running mysql-workbench as the front end not to MySQL, but mariadb - and functionality that I've tried seems to work fine.
I think its probably as you say.
If everything is working fine don't worry.
I'm using php admin to control mariadb but i think there is not much difference between maradb and MySQL.
If problems appear you can always change to MySQL.

  • Hyperion FDM and ERPi 11.1.2.2: ORA-12504 on Import with ERPI-FIN-E

    Hi everyone,
We are implementing Hyperion 11.1.2.2 FDM with HFM (Target Adapter = FM11X-G6-A) and ERPi (Source Adapter = ERPI-FIN-E) running on ODI 11.1.1.6. Backend databases are all Oracle DBs. We have been able to successfully configure ERPi and ODI & successfully run a Data Load Rule with all green checks in ODI Operator. We have also successfully tested the full FDM workflow with load to HFM using the traditional flat file method.
We have also setup an FDM Location and Import Format (File Type = Adapter; Adapter = ERPI-FIN-E) for use with the ERPI Source Adapter. When kicking off an Import either manually via FDM Web or via Batch Loader, we are getting a grey fish, Information Bar with "Error: Import failed. Invalid Data or Empty content", and pop-up error dialog displaying "ORA-12504: TNS: Listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA.
While previous versions of ERPi Source Adapter have the "ERPi Database Server/Service" option, ERPI-FIN-E does not have this option. Additionally, we have tested the TNSNames.ora files SID's with SQL Developer and SQL Plus and they all seem to be working.
Has the "ERPi Database Server/Service" option moved somewhere behind the scenes? Another options or DBLink that needs to be setup somewhere else? Any thoughts or assistance would help.
    Thank you.
