FDM Migration from v9 to v11
Hi,
We have a client requirement of migrating system 9.3.1 FDM to v11.1.2.0
As per I know v11.1.2.0 is no more supported and it is v11.1.2.1 only.
Hence I have thought of two approaches:-
1>FDM 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 and then to 11.1.2.1 (As Oracle recommended)
2>FDM 9.3.1 to 11.1.1.3 and then to 11.1.2.1
As per my understanding in both cases,we need to freshly install
and configure FDM 11.1.2.1 on new system.
Please validate above two approaches and let me know which will be best approach.
Also any data migration procedure followed could also be shared.
Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions and inputs!

Edited by: 948364 on Jul 24, 2012 5:07 AMThis is covered in the documentation pretty well I believe; however, here's the outline I followed...
- Copy FDM databases to v11 database server. (I renamed mine to follow my v11 naming scheme, but ...)
- Copy FDMApps folders over (i.e. Inbox files, scripts, etc)
- Add the applications to the new FDM. (i.e. from the login screen, pick Add Application
- Run Schema Update tool on your FDM applications
- Run User Migration Tool on your FDM applications
- Extract Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\FinancialDataQuality\SharedComponents\DBSetup.zip to /Data/Scripts/Custom folder for each FDM App
- Update Machine Profiles (Workbench) (Repeat for each application)
- Add Adapter (Repeat for each application)
- Configure Adapter (Repeat for each application)
- Fix mappings*
In v9, you don't have to map dimensions you don't use. In v11 you do.... Instead of doing it that hard way and manually updating hundreds of maps, I used SQL to do it. In my environment ICP, UD3, UD1, and UD2 generally were not mapped. You would need to update this accordingly.
NOTE : I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF THE FOLLOWING CODE BLOWS YOUR STUFF UP. IT SHOULDN'T, BUT ...........
Function : Bulk Create Import File Format field creator
Author : Charles Beyer
Date : 5/10/2012
Description : This routine will automatically create a new record for each Import File Format
Corresponding to the supplied information. This may come in handy if you find
yourself needing to map a field that you have never needed before and MOST
of the locations are not actively mapping it yet.
It will also take care of the incrementing of the ImpSeq field automatically for you
Finally, it will create a * to * mapping to serve as a generic placeholder in the location's
map
Input(s) :
@FDMField = This is the FDM field name such as UD2
@FieldValue = This is the hardcoded value to start with such as [None]

DECLARE @ImpSeq int
--Initialize Working Memory

FDM migration from 9.3.1. to 11.1.2
Hi,
can someone recommend me the steps to migrate from FDM 9.3.1 to 11.1.2 ? As per Oracle, there is no migration path. However, I am thinking about the following steps
Study existing application. Identify customizations
Install FDM 11.x as a new installation
Create application and configure adaptors
Install and configure shared services
Migrate application metadata from 9.3.1 database to 11.1.2 database. Application metadata would include - Locations, Import formats, Logic Groups, Validation entity lists, Validation rule lists, control tables (period & scenario tables)
Extract dimension mappings from 9.3.1 and import into 11.1.2
Migrate scripts – Import, event and custom
Re-implement custom reports, Re-implement custom tables and parameter files built in 9.3.1
Re-implement security set-up
Regression test all application functionality
Provision users is Shared services and FDM application
It is high level. But can someone sugest any alternate option
-ShantanuI have just tried to migrate from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1 and even though there is a lot of help from Oracle documentation
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/fdm_config_11121.pdf - outlines the upgrade steps outside of the FDM application
Doc ID 1067430.1 - Migrating an FDM Application From a System 9 Environment to a FDM version 11.1.1.0 and Higher Environment
Both of these references only take you as far as getting the application into Workbench.
You then need to reassign and synchronise the adapters.
The control tables will not migrate so they have to manually updated See Doc ID 759872.1
You need to also go through the integration settings and review all the default options.
I found the drill back option caused a lot of issues for us and once it was turned off things improved a lot !
Hope some of this helps -
Essbase Migration from 6.5.7 to 11.1.1
Hi
Please clarify me below two questions
1) we are using Essbase 6.5.7 now our customer want to move from 6.5.7 to Essbase 11.1.1 can we do migration from V6 to V11 directly or we have to go from V6.5.7 to V9.3.1 to V11.1.1. what are the precautions we need to take care while doing migration.
2) we have Essbase VBA API 6.5.7, can we move from 6.5.7 to 11.1.1 VBA API's. if it is yes then what are the precautions we need to take care while going form V6 to V11. some where i have read like performance of VBA API tools will be decreased. If yes what is the alternative.
Thanks in advance.1) As of now, there is no direct upgrade option available from version 6 to 11. It is supported only from version 9 to 11. However, if it is only an essbase you can always go a fresh installation of system 11 and migrate your essbase cubes into 11 environment using migration wizard in EAS.

FDM App Migration from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1 Error
Hi All,
We are migration a FDM App from V9.3.1 to V11.1.2.1.
1. We migrated the schema from DB of 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1.
2. Migrated the Folder structure from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1.
3.In workbench added the Application .
4.When i try to update the schema its throwing up an error "-2147467259 - Data access error".
How can we solve it???You are correct. The FDM 11.1.2.1 readme guide states that the supported upgrade path to 11.1.2.1 is from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1. If you are on 9.3.1.0, FDM should first be upgraded to 9.3.3 and the application schema updated from 9.3.1.0 to 9.3.3. The application can then be upgrated to the 11.1.2.1 schema level.

Upgrade & Migrate from V11.1.1.3 to V11.1.2.2
Hi All,
Currently we are using Hyperion Essbase Server V11.1.1.3 in Windows Server 2003 R2.
We are in a plan to Upgrade & Migrate to Essbase Server V11.1.2.2 in Windows Server 2008.
We are only using Essbase w/o Shared services.
Could you please provide me the below information:
(1) Whether LCM Utility can be used to perform this Upgrade & Migration from V11.1.1.3 to V11.1.2.2 ( not using the Shared Services)?
(2) Any documents w.r.t this Upgrade & Migration using LCM Utility?

Migration from enterprise to HFM
Hi
Can anyone help me with a migration from enterprise to HFM ?
I am looking at a complete migration.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
I would also like some proper documentation .If you do have one please forward to [email protected]
Edited by: rtk on Sep 25, 2009 4:33 AMA full migration includes a lot of steps, including redefining mapping tables for all of the entities that load data in Enterprise, if you are using ledger link you have to rebuild them in FDM, define the amount of historical data being moved over, defining Metadata structure for information that is not currently on Enterprise (What information will you carry on your Custom Dimensions. Rethink the way reports are being used and rebuild all of those that are necessary, investigate if there are any retrieve files that are necessary to convert into smartview format.
The list goes on and on. If you don't have any experience, you are better off by hiring a consulting firm. Titan Pinnacle comes to mind. :) -
Re-importing FDM application from XML not removing deleted objects/records
I migrated our FDM application from one environment to the next environment, by exporting the FDM application from the source environment to an XML file and subsequently importing the FDM application XML file in the target environment. This appeared to work fine.
After some updates were then applied to the source environment, I re-exported the FDM application to an XML file, and re-imported this in the target environment.
However, I have noticed that:
- Import Scripts that were deleted in the source application still remain in the target application.
- Mappings that were deleted in the source application still remain in the target application.
- Extra mappings that were added in the source application have been added to the target application.
So we now have duplicate mappings in several tables and scripts that should have been deleted in the target environment!
It appears that the "Import" process is more of an update, rather than a drop and replace. There is no "replace" option on the import process. Can anyone please advise how one should correctly migrate an FDM application between environments? At present, it seems to me that the whole application will need to be completely dropped/deleted (including the SQL database/Oracle schema) and re-imported all over again from scratch.
Surely there must be a better method?!!Here is Oracle's response for anyone else who requires further information on this:
"Hello,
The Import of the .xml files in terms of application creation is meant as a 'once only' event and a result is not meant as a method of post-create administration of the application. Any further imports will just add metadata to the application not replace or merge. If you wish to migrate an application via this method then you will need to get the source application into the state required for the migration then migrate this as a whole. Please note that this will only migrate the metadata of the application.
The other method of migration as you have mentioned in the SR description, is via the database which will migrate the entire application with data.
Please see KB article 806173.1 which gives instructions on the two methods, both of which are the only recommended methods. Please review the article to suit your requirements.
Thanks" -
Is it possible to migrate from Hyperion essbase ver 6 to Hyperion Ver 11?
Hi Hyperion geeks,
is it possible that Migrate from Hyperion essbase ver 6 to Hyperion Ver 11. if yes then pls let me know how we can do it????
reg,
abhishekHi,
We're finishing our migration from 6.2 to 11.1.1.3.
Of course won't recommend to migrate directly... they will recommend going through different steps (v7, V9...) => useless I think.
Here what we did :
- Installed v11 (new server)
- copied objects from v6 to v11, tested and validated objects under v11
- for .sec, recreated the app/databases first then copied the v6 .sec on v11 server. Of course your server have to be installed with native securities then you may push to shared services.
- if you don't care about changing password you could handle it with maxl extracts or secman (but I had issues with secman).
Finally it's just like any migration -
Upgradinig FDM apps from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1
Hi all,
What is the best way to upgrade an FDM 9.3.1 app (Oracle DB) to 11.1.2.1?
I find the documentation rather unclear. Would the below steps work?:
- Export the FDM schema from the source and import into target
- Copy the FDM application folder from the source to the Target and ensure the folder is shared in the target
- Open the 11.1.2.1 Workbench and select Add Application. Type in a name for the app and specify a UNC path to the folder FDM Share (e.g \\FDMSRVR\FDMData\FDMAPP). Specify the Oracle schema details
- Run the schema upgrade utility to upgrade the schema
- Configure the FDM adapters and restore scripts
Would this approach work? Am I missing any steps?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
SebAt the recent KScope event, Product Management and Development outlined the supported upgrade paths. The short answer is that to get to the latest release, you need to upgrade to the most recent patch of the current version you are on.
For example: System 9 to 11.1.2.1. You have to go to 9.3.3 first and then upgrade to 11. For 11.1.1.x, you have to go to 11.1.1.3 before going to 11.1.2.1
That being said, there is a good chance that FDM would upgrade with the schema utility without going to 9.3.3 but the risk is that you followed an unsupported migration path. -
Migration from 9.3.1 to 11.1
Hi, we uses NTLM (not externalize) in version 9.3.1 and we want to migrate to 11.1.... with MSAD. We were told to use the Wizards for Applications and groups migration but not for users. We were also told when the migration is done, to Externalize, and after that, export users from 9.3.1 and then import users into 11.1. ... My questions are, What format should be my export file (what info should be in, what format, separator ...) if possible to have a sample with Fictive userid and groups so I can easily understand what they mean. Also, is their a utility that I can use to do that export since i'm not Externalyze in 9.3.1. Next question, I have seen in multiple forum to use CSSimportexport to import users to shared services. Is it the only way to import users? and will I need to change things in my import file since 9.3.1 uses NTLM and 11.1 uses MSAD.
ThanksHi,
In 11 your options to import user provisioning is by either using the CSSImportExportUtility or using LCM (Lifecycle Management), as this is a migration from a previous release I would tend to prefer the CSSImportExportUtility.
Anyway with either method the best option would be to get onto a test V11 environment and provision some users then export their information and then you have an idea of what your import file needs to look like. The CSSImportExportUtility does have an example format but it is always easier to get it right by trying to create test examples on your own system.
Cheers

Hello,
i would like to kindly ask for a help with following issue:
Basically we are migrating from the 10.3.0 to the 10.3.5 version. We are building the domain using the template in "silent mode". And when i try to create the domain with new weblogic 10.3.5 im getting some errors.
The command to run the creation of the domain is following:
${WL_HOME}/common/bin/config.sh -mode=silent -silent_script=${SILENT_SCRIPT} -log=${WLLOGFILE} >> ${LOGFILE} 2>&1
returnCode=$?
SILENT_SCRIPT contains following commands:
read template from "/local/wg372/BM/appl/config/NEW_DOMAIN_CONFIGURED.jar";
write domain to "/local/wg372/BM/appl/BmDomain";
set OverwriteDomain "true";
close template;
When i setup new env(solaris) with weblogic 10.3.5 im getting following error when the silent_script command (*write domain to "/local/wg372/BM/appl/BmDomain";*) is executed:

I tried to google for this issue, look into the weblogic documentation but with no luck.
So i would like to kindly ask, if anyone of you perhaps could give me a hint/advise with this problem.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
thanks for the reply but im not sure if we are talking about the same thing. What i need is to upgrade the weblogic "DOMAIN" not the weblogic installation itself.
Anyway,
after some googling and testing im again stucked with another issue:
1. First i have created the old doman (10.3.0)
2. Then i have tested the domain with the new weblogic version 10.3.5 - as it should be (and is) compatible within those 2 versions
---> worked fine
3. Then via offline WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) i have managed to create new template with command writeTemplate(nameOfTemplate.jar)
4. But when i try to create the new domain with the new template via WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) im again stucked (im able to read the template in wlst but not able to writeDomain ) - error:
wls:/offline> readTemplate('/home/wg372/tmp/new_template.jar')
wls:/offline/BmDomain>writeDomain('/home/wg372/tmp/new_domain')

Any ideas?

Removing Public Folders after migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
Recently we migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We did not migrate Public Folders and are retiring them from Exchange altogether. I shut Exchange 2007 off for a couple of weeks to ensure 2013 functions properly and it does so we're
ready to decommission Exchange 2007. I was able to remove all the mailbox databases without a glitch. Using the EMC I click to remove the Public Folder database from Exchange 2007 and get the following message:
Error: The public folder database "server\storage group - Public Folders\ Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database.
Any help appreciated.Hi Terry,
If you run the following command does it come back with any public folders?
Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server "SERVERNAME" | fl
If nothing comes back you can follow this guide to manually remove the public folder database (at your own risk) http://haythamalex.wordpress.com/2011/11/24/how-to-force-exchange-server-public-folder-removal/
Cheers,
Jack
I get alot of output from that command.

ActiveSync stops working after migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
We have started the migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We've followed best practices and everything is working great except ActiveSync. I've performed Exchange migrations in the past so this is nothing new for me. I've also been referring to
a great guide which has been a big help,
http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2013/migration-deployment/planning-and-migrating-small-organization-exchange-2007-2013-part1.html.
Once a user is migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013, ActiveSync stops working properly. Email can be pulled to the device (Nokia Lumia 625 running Windows Phone 8) by performing a manual sync. But DirectPush is not working. The strange part is it's not affecting
everyone who's been migrated. Anyone who is still on Exchange 2007 is not affected.
At first I thought it was our wildcard certificate. 99% of our users are running Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 or higher but we do have a few terminal servers still running Outlook 2010. Outlook 2010 was giving us certificate errors. I realized it was the wildcard
certificate. Rather than making changes to the OutlookProvider I simply obtained a new SAN certificate. Although that resolved the issues for Outlook 2010 users, ActiveSync was still a problem.
Rebooting the phones and removing the email account from the user's device and re-adding it didn't resolve the issue either.
Then I performed an iisreset on the CAS server. This didn't help either. I didn't know it at the time, but I was getting closer...
I tried using the cmdlet Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity but it gave me the following error:
WARNING: Test user 'extest_0d9a45b025374' isn't accessible, so this cmdlet won't be able to test Client Access server
connectivity.
Could not find or sign in with user DOMAIN.com\extest_0d9a45b025374. If this task is being run without
credentials, sign in as a Domain Administrator, and then run Scripts\new-TestCasConnectivityUser.ps1 to verify that
the user exists on Mailbox server EX02.DOMAIN.COM
I started reviewing how Exchange 2013 proxied information from the CAS to the mailbox server and realized the issue may in fact be on the mailbox server.
I performed an iisreset on the mailbox server and all of a sudden ActiveSync started working again. Awesome!
I can't explain why. The only thing I can assume is when some users were migrated from 2007 to 2013 something wasn't being triggered on the Exchange 2013 side. Resetting IIS resolved the issue. I guess I'll have to do an IIS reset after I perform a batch
of migrations. Disabling ActiveSync and re-enabling it for the affected users didn't help - only the IISRESET resolved the issue.
If anyone has any information as to why this happens, please chime in. Also, if anyone knows why I can't run the Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity cmdlet, I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks.Hi,
In Exchange 2013, the Public Folder is changed to Public Folder mailbox instead of Public Folder in Exchange 2007 database.
Due to the changes in how public folders are stored, legacy Exchange mailboxes are unable to access the public folder hierarchy on Exchange 2013 servers. However, user mailboxes on Exchange 2013 servers or Exchange Online can connect to legacy
public folders. Exchange 2013 public folders and legacy public folders can’t exist in your Exchange organization simultaneously. This effectively means that
there’s no coexistence between versions.
For this reason, it’s recommended that prior to migrating your public folders, you should
first migrate your all legacy mailboxes to Exchange 2013. For more information about migrating public folder from previous versions, please refer to:

Cross Forest Migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
Hi
Could anybody advice me the steps also the pros and cons for below mentioned environment if we are going for the cross forest migration.
Source
Domain - test.local
Active Directory - Windows 2003
Exchange Server - 2007
Target
Domain - test.net
Active Directory - Windows 2012
Exchange Server - 2013
Also if it is possible ,
How could I remove the source environment including the exchange servers. after the migration ?
Regards
MuraleeHi Oliver ,
Please suggest us.
In my environment we are in a plan to migrate from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 (cross forest migration).
Source : Exchange 2007 with sp3 ru 10
Target : Exchange 2013 with cu2 ( new environment yet to be created).
Trust : Forest trust in place (two way )
Domain and forest functional level : 2003 in both target and source
Migration Steps :
Step1 :
We are in a plan to execute 'preparemoverequest.ps1' first in the target forest ,so that we will get the disable MEU
in the target forest.
Step2:
Then we are going to use ADMT to migrate users SID'S and password .
Step3:
Then we are going to move the mailboxes with New-moverequest
Please have a look in to our steps and suggest us ,whether we are going to proceed the migration in a right way or not
.Is anything needs to be changed please intimate me .
Thanks
S.Nithyanandham
Hey there,
Sorry for taking a little while to get back to you, i've been busy working on Hosted Lync deployments!
Use ADMT first, then when using preparemoverequest.ps1 script using the -uselocalobject cmdlet. This will then tie it up to the ADMT migrated account.
