FDM reporting component manual

Hi all I have FDQM v.11.1.2.1.
Currently I'm trying to create some custom reports for a SOX requirement from our client. I was checking the FDM admin manual looking for a reference but all I could find was and I quote "You can also use Design Report to create reports. For modifying or creating reports, advanced knowledge of FDM reporting components is required."
I've been looking for that manual with no results so far, also I'm looking for a document with the description of the existing reports within the adapter I'm using (FM11X-G5-E) more exactly the System Report -> System Activity Log Flor Key (Trans Key) and the description of every key you could choose in that report.
Any help would be highly appreciated

There is not any documentation on the report designer. It uses the Active Reports Engine, you can search the web for documentation on Active Reports for information on the designer.

SQL version could not be verified error while installing the SCOM 2012 R2 reporting component

I have the below SCOM server roles in my SCOM 2012 R2 set up
1) All servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, MS - SCOM1, DB & DW - DB1, Reporting Server - DB2
2) All the DB servers with SQL 2012 SP1
3) Windows firewall is turned off on all the servers.
4) Success fully installed all the components except SCOM reporting.
While installing the SCOM 2012 R2 reporting component on DB2 ( Iam running this set up on the server where I instllaed the SQL DB engine and reportin services in Native mode. Configured the SQL reporting database and reporting URLs successfully in SQL reporting
configuration manager) getting the below error in the Rporting server instance page. Kindly advise.
I ran mofcomp.exe and there is no firewall restrictions. My account also has DB owner & sysadmin permissions.
Also tried re installing the SQL on Reporting server.
"The installed version of SQL Server could not be verified or is not supported. Verify that the computer and the installed version of SQL Server meet the minimum requirements for installation, and that the firewall settings are correct. See the Supported

Hi,
As far as I know, after installing SSRS, we don't need to configure the database and reporting URLs manully. When we install the reporting service for SCOM, it will configure those automatically.
If possible, you may re-install SSRS and then install SCOM reporting service.

How can I stop a report service manually ?

How can I stop a report service manually in DOS command?
I only know start a report service manually in DOS command.For example:rwserver service=repljbass

My start/stop scripts for Solaris looks like this.
Start:
rwserver.sh server=reportserver batch=yes
Note: batch=yes means that the extra control window doesn't start (at least on Unix)
Stop:
rwserver.sh server=reportserver shutdown=immediate authid=repadmin/reports
Just remove the .sh and it'll work on your PC.
PS. The complete Solaris start command I use is:
exec nohup rwserver.sh server=reportserver batch=yes &

Passing Parameters to a Report Component

How can I prompt for From and To dates and pass these parameters to a report component to limit the number of detail set records retrieved

I have the same problem. How do I dynamically allocate the default value for a bind variable? I'm making a drill down report in which I want to restrict the query based on the unique key of the selected link.

The reason why you might not find the guide is as of Crystal Reports 2008 the JRC was integrated into the Crystal Reports for Ecplise package and is not availble separately anymore. See also the What' new-guide of Crystal Reports 2008 here:

FDM Report Engine - MS Office

I need to publish FDM report in default view - MS Excel Office in Web on the Check step (4th fish).
I changed in Workbench Report Properties parameter "Report Engine" from Active to MS Office i have an error while launching a report.
Maybe there are some extra settings or extra xml scripts which i need to do for success display reports with parameter in Report Engine - MS Office?

The report engine must be set to "Active" for all of the reports to run successfully, this cannot be changed.
The report default publish type Can be changed in the "Web Settings"
Choose Administraiton > Web Settings
Set the Default Report Publish Type to WORD from the default setting of PDF and save.
If you would like users to change this in their settings check the "Enable Default Report Type Override" and then user can change this in user settings if they do not want it to be Word.

Error while installing SCOM 2012 reporting component.

Hello Experts,
I had to recently tired installing SCOM 2012 reporting server role on one of the SSRS instances and got the below error.
The SQL team created a dedicated SSRS instance for SCOM(SSRS_SCOM2012) on a SQL instance which hostes other SSRS instances for other applications like SCCM 2007, FEP2010 and FIM2010. I understand the SSRS is are individual components and should not have
dependency with other SSRS instance on the same SQL instance.
A few weeks back i successfully installed the reporting service on another SSRS isntance on a SQL isntance which hosts no other SSRS instances on it for creating a dev SCOM for our enviornment.
The SSRS configuration has been done correctly with service accounts, execution account, database created etc configured for production.
No SSL nor any proxy set for the SQL Report server.
One option i am left with now is running resetSRS.exe to reset the SSRS. But before doing this i would like to take advice from you all as i need to run this on production which hosts other prod SSRS instance on the same SQL instance as well :(

Q1:Is the SQL version same as of what you are using for the Database engine services as well ?
A1: Yes, its SQL 2008 R2.
Q2: Are the SQL URL's Working as expected ?
A2: Yes, both the Report URL and Report Manager URL are working even though there is no content in it as
SCOM Reporting component is yet to be installed successfully.
Q3: Is
the Scale of deployment joined ?
A3 : No, its Native.
Q4 : Also you can Run resetSRS.exe
So it will just reset the Reporting and will not affect any other component.
A4 : For say my SQL cluster name is ABC which is on a
4 node cluster and we have created SSRS(SSRS_SCOM2012) on one of the node(Server1) of that 4 node cluster. SCOM installer discovers SSRS instance name as Server1\SSRS_SCOM2012. so do it have the run the command as "resetsrs.exe Server1\SSRS_SCOM2012"
or "resetsrs.exe ABC"?

It is used to monitor site components, if you choose to log the status, it would be written to event log.

Printing from a application report component

Hello friends,
Anyone knows how could i make a portlet for allowing the user to print its content ?
I would like a user to be able to print a report which is rendered using a report component.

Separating out logical code from display code is nothing to be ashamed of, but there are better ways of doing it... Remember, you are in an OOP environment, so you can organise things to share functionality across a wide range of things without getting tied up in global function hell.
For example, I could do this:

I can then add custom properties to that class, or create subclasses of that class, or quite a lot of other things. I can implement interfaces and I can use static properties to provide global links between every instance and so on and so forth.
And, from a design perspective, in my display code, I still end up with the very simple and familiar:

That doesn't stop you from separating out purely abstract code into purely abstract classes - for example, I have a singleton pattern OrientationManager class that provides me with full control over stage rotation etc for anything that cares to use it in just a couple of lines - but it does mean that you can leverage the full might of Flex IVisualElement and IUIComponent power without tieing yourself up in knots.

What does the field "Version of the Reporting Component" in the table RSZC

Hi Experts,
Was wondering if any of you have the answer to the following:
The table RSZCOMPDIR stores details of the queries.
Now the field "Version of the Reporting Component" in this table contains many different values viz. 0, 11, 13, 15, 100, 101, 102 etc.)
However, am not sure if this field denotes the object type....for e.g. bot calculated & restricted key figues may have version 15 etc.
So, in a nutshell, what does the field "Version of the Reporting Component" in the table RSZCOMPDIR signify?

I have not seen this done for CVI but I believe for all Microsoft functions such as this you would use ActiveX to call the Word, Excel, and possibly powerpoint ActiveX classes.

Outputing report component to excel

Hi,
I have a report component and display 20 rows per page, basically I want to output the report to excel but when I choose output of excel type through the custom screen - only the first page is written to an excel file.
Is it possible to output the whole of the report to one excel file ?

I want to use the Java reporting component (JRC) in crystal report, could you please tell me which version of CR will support this feture. i am presently using crystal report 12 version and i am not seeing any related info regarding this.
my actual requirement is i want to use the reports to be hosted in UNIX,or Solaries env. i dont no how can i use the JRC for this perpose.
can you let me know how can use the JRC and how to host it on unix boxes.

FDM Report Changes

Is it possible to change FDM reports via the Workbench? I haven't checked yet and thought I'd post here first.
I want to add parameters in such as a date range. I don't have any experience in changing the reports so I'm hoping this wont need any coding change and will be a simple drag and drop. Wishful thinking?!

FDM Reports are written with an engine called Active. It is similar to creating forms inside of Microsoft Access.
It does require knownledge of VBScript and the Active Engine.

Fusion Reports & Forms Clustering - Fail recognize Oracle Report Component

Hello All,
Forgive me if I have the wrong forum.
I installed weblogic 10.3.6.0 + Fusion Reports Reports & Forms (11.1.1.1.6) on windows platform.
Yet when I try to extend the cluster when creating an instance I do not see the Oracle Report component, only Oracle Forms.
Did I miss a step? I used the base Fusion installation:
MH_HOME = D:\Oracle\Middleware
INSTANCE_HOME=D:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1
ORACLE_HOME=D:\Oracle\Middleware\as_1

FDM Reports publishing empty contents

Hi All,
We upgraded FDM from 9 to 11.1.2.1 approximately two years back.
The testing was not conducted as the hole and later the issues are raising, Now the problem is No Reports are publishing with contents. Means report window opens with empty content. An additional information that I am able to see the RPX files in the report folder in the installed path. So they migrated the report artifacts also.
Please suggest me how to debug this issue.

First of all, if they are all doing it, I'd be suspect that some type of configuration item is to blame. What happens if you make a new report?
To help narrow this down, here's what I'd do...
#1 - Go to Server and open Workbench client
#2 - Login / Open App
#3 - In the window pane on the left that Shows Adapters, Scripts, and Reports, click on Reports.
#4 - Find one of the reports in question
#5 - Double click on report which should open the Report Properties window
#6 - Click on the SQL Statement tab
#7 - Click on the Zoom button
#8 - Click on the Preview Data button
If no data here, there is EITHER some form of a communication issue between FDM/Reports and database. or there's no data....
Then I'd .....
#1 - Copy the SQL Statement
#2 - Connect to SQL Server and execute query against database to see if data is returned.
If data is found, there is a communication issue (physical or user access to tables) between FDM and your database, review database settings to confirm that settings look correct on FDM And confirm in the database that the user being used has access to the tables
being referenced...
If you did get data from the query, then I'd look more carefully at the report itself.
#1 - In reports panel on the left, right click on the report you are investigating and Design Report
#2 - Verify the report open in the designer correctly.
#3 - At the top of the report area are two tabs, Design and Preview. Click on Preview and it will then generate a report. Verify if this is working.
Depending on how that turns out, you might get more clues as to where to look next.
