FDM with Hyperion Planning

Hi,
We are new to FDM. Apologies in advance if the questions below are not appropriate for this forum.
Environment: Oracle eBS, Hyperion Planning. Currently have a bespoke system for world wide finance consolidation - data from Oracle eBS (both Actuals / Budgets) are pumped into Finance consolidation system through CSV files generated in Oracle eBS. Not using HFM.
Questions:
1) Can Hyperion Planning data be pumped into FDM? How?
2) Can FDM be used for performing validation on Planning data? (e.g. some dimension combination not valid etc)?
3) How common is FDM in Planning environment? Are there many customers using FDM with Hyperion Planning?
4) Is there any customer live with FDM Adapter for Oracle eBS?

Sorry if I am causing confusion here but allow me to clarify:
1) HFM is not in use. Global consolidation engine is outside regional system - data needs to be sent to Global consolidation engine which is a non-HFM target.
2) Before sending the data, validation needs to be performed on both Actual as well as Budget if data combination is valid.
3) Oracle eBS does the validation for Acutals - so we are fine there.
4) How do we ensure that Budget data (captured in Planning) is also valid before uploading to global consolidation engine?
If Planning can not be a source to FDM, I can not perform validation on Budget data using FDM, right?
So - what alternative do we have to perform validation on Budget data before it gets transmitted to global consolidation engine (non-HFM and outside our control)?
Goal is - prior to transmitting data (both budget and actual), validation should be performed locally and only clean data should be transmitted for global consolidation engine.

FDM and Hyperion Planning Mapping options

My team has an implementation of FDM and Hyperion Planning ver 11.1.2. We are basically using FMD because we need a place to maintain (user friendly) different mapping tables for the accounts dimensions, to be able to load data.
My questions are; when loading data, do we need to always map all the dimensions? Is there a way to avoid it?
For example in the model we have 300 accounts, 20 entities and 400 products. We need to map the accounts since they are different for all the entities (in the source data), however not the products. Therefore I want to avoid mapping the products (and maintaining this mapping) when loading the data. Is this feasible? Any ideas?

Any dimension you have active in FDM i.e. constitutes part of the target reference for data you want to load has to be mapped. If your products don't need any transformation during the mapping process i.e. they are one to one simply use a 'pass-thru map' i.e a wildcard Like map with * as the source and * as the target.

Issue with Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 EPM

Hi All,
I am facing an issue with Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 which was working till yesterday. When i login into the and go to navigate --> Administor --> Dimension Library i am getting an error which iam not able to understand. kindly help me out. i checked all my EPM services and they are up and working and also i have restarted them but no use. Can someone help me out what should i do. I have also logged in http://<machine name>:19091/awb but getting the same below error.

Hi,
First question, has anything changed since it worked like admin accounts.
Reboot the machine.
Next, just start the "Hyperion Foundation Shared Services - Web Application" service
Can you log into Shared Services ?
If you can, then start "Hyperion EPM Architect - Web Application" service
Go to http://localhost:19091/awb/ Does the web page display ?
If not then you it looks like EPMA needs reconfiguring.
Next start "Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager" service, make sure the service starts and it should start another 4 services.
Next refresh http://localhost:19091/awb/ and try and login.

Oracle GL Integration with Hyperion Planning

Dear All,
I need to integrate Oracle GL with Hyperion Planning.
My Question are:
1) Without any adapters, we can do this integration(Using PL/SQL). It is Possible?
2) Any document is available for intergration using the adapters(DIM/ODI).
ODI - Using ODI, one way of integration is possible(Oracle GL to Planning)
DIM - Using DIM, two way of integration is possible(Oracle GL to Planning & Planning to Oracle GL)
can u guide me in this situtation.

I am using Hyperion 9.3.1 with Oracle 10g. This is the first time, i am trying to do the integration with Oracle GL. My client dont have licenses for DIM, they are not ready to buy the licenses.
There is anyway to load the essbase cubes through Oracle tables.
John, This is my idea(Can u please suggest me on this). I am doing this in a test environment.
1) From Oralce GL server, I am taking the Trial Balance values into flat files
2) I am creating one Oracle table for TB_ORAGL(In Planning Server)
3) In Planning server, i am importing the flat files(TB_ORAGL) to the Oracle
4) From oracle table(TB_ORAGL), i am trying importing the data to essbase cubes using data load.
Vice versa steps for Hyperion Planning to Oracle GL.
can u guide me in this situtation.

Unable to drill back to the FDM from Hyperion Planning

We are using FDM version 11.1.2.2.00 for integration with Oracle E-Business Suite. We have configured FDM to load the data in three cubes in Hyperion Planning i.e. Opex, Capex and Manpower. When we drill back to the source system after loading the data, The drill through to the source system sucessfully runs for opex and capex. But when we click on 'Drill to the Source' from web form in Hyperion planning, it gives below error.
Error: No Locations were found matching the passed intersection values. Please verify:
1) that the target system (originating the drillback) is properly configured;
2) that the FDM POVs have not been retroactively modified or compromised.

Hi,
In that case can you pls confirm the location is correct or not. Try to check the location from where it is drilling back the data. Compare the location with Opex/Capex scenario. It is not an integration issue, something you are missing, otherwise you will face issues with Opex & Capex also.

ODI with Hyperion Planning.

I have a problem. I need to connect to Hyperion Planning with ODI. I am following this documnet: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15985_01/doc.10136/user/DIHPU.pdf
When I configure phisiscal architecture I put following values:
Name: Planning
Server (Data server): erp-app-srv2:11333
User: Admin
Password: ***
After that I try to Insert Phisiscal Schem but in Application (Catalogue) I see only Undefined.
Is there anything I need to do to see my applications here?

EPM 11.1.1.3 Drill back with Hyperion Planning and Financial Reporting

Hi,
I'm trying to drill back data with Planning thanks to FDM but it doesn't work.
In fact Planning server and FDM server are not installed on the same machine. My user is both admin on Planning application and FDM one.
When I drill back my data the url provided is the planning one and not FDM server one. I've set up application properties on Planning Application such as FDM_BASE_URL with
"http://servername/HyperionFDM/AuthorizedPages/IntersectionSummaryByLocation.aspx", and the restated my webserver, but it doesn't work.
I've the following errors :
Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

When you say drill back, are you saying you want to drill through to the source database or whatever it was you loaded the data from?
If so, my question is was this data loaded using FDM ?
Also I would run the validation tool in EPM Diagnostics and make sure everything is ok on the web end.
Not knowing exactly what your setup looks like, this is all I can suggest for now.

Help Needed in resolving problems with Hyperion Planning Web Forms

Hi,Can anyone help me with this problem?Problem:We are running Planning 2.3.1 I have created Webform & security(application owner has the ownership).Somehow Iam getting only 7 dimensions into webform & 1 dimension is missing in that. But whereas 8 dimensions are there in Essbase.Hsp_Rates dimension is available in essbase outline but Iam unable to see that dimension in the webform selection.And using the webform Iam unable to load any data ...the form is graded/protected.Is this happening because i dont have the requirement of 1 member from each Dimension?Please someone let me know why this is happening what might be the reason.ThanksUser

Hi,The dimension Hsp_Rates is a hide dimension used by Planning to store the exchange rates for the differentes exchanges.All the standard information is stored on HSP_InputValue member (in this dimension).When you create a web form, Planning automatically asign this member (but don't show it).Probably you can't load data because you are selected on Version dimension a Standard Botton Up version, and you only can load data on level 0 members in this type of version.If you want to load data on upper level members, then you need to create a Standard Target version (in the Version dimension) and select it in the form.Please, advice if this solve your problemClaudioBPD Solutions

Help! Hyperion Planning Dimension formula no longer works after name change

Hi,
I am having an issue with Hyperion Planning. I recently changed an account's dimension name from ASales & Property Taxes (D) to AProperty Taxes (D). However, the original name was used in a formula of another account. When I ran my refresh I got the following error:
Error [1200354] detected in member formula for member "AFacilities Costs as a % of Revenue".
So I went into planning and went to the referenced account and looked at the formula. The formula still had the old member name ASales & Property Taxes (D) so I changed the formula to the new name AProperty Taxes (D). However, when I went to validate the formula I got the following error message:
Error compiling formula for [] (line 1): expected type [NUMBER] found [STRING] (["ASales & Property Taxes (D)"]) in function []
However, my formula has the new name not the old name. Here is my formula:

Hi,
What happens if you try and refresh with updating the formula to reference the correct name?
You won't be able to validate the formula because the member does not yet exist in essbase until the refresh has completed.
If you have problems you could always, remove the formula and store it, refresh so the new member gets created, then put the formula back and refresh again.

Best Practice for Hyperion Planning : Essbase or Dataform for Adhoc Analysi

with Hyperion Planning, you are able to start an Adhoc Analysis from an Hyperion Planning Dataform or from an Essbase cube?
What is the best way / pro / contra ? thanks in advance
.... I 've juste notice that when you delete the dataform the Retrieve doesn't work anymore :-( .... and with Essbase you get some "un-useful" dimension as HSP_Value

A couple of other things that go with Planning as the data source:
1) You have access to all of the non-Essbase data -- think SmartLists, text (okay, it's there now in Essbase, but not from Planning applications) fields, supporting detail, etc. If you want users to see that relationally stored data, the only other way to get it in Excel is to run a Financial Reports report into Excel (or hack the tables and write SQL to pull the stuff -- did that pre 11x and it's too much work).
2) There's a performance hit when going against Planning, just like there is when Planning is the data source in Financial Reports.
Using a form to limit dimensionality - isn't that what SmartSlices are for? I guess it's another way to get to the same place. Although you have to administer the SmartSlices, I would imagine they would break less often than a form might. Having said that, once built, how often do you delete a form?
It's really nice that ad-hoc analysis from forms are now possible, but I've always thought of it as nice feature to have alongside data entry, never as the primary path into Essbase analysis.

Hi,Iam new to Hyperon Planning Implementation. My Company is going for implementation. We already have Essbase cubes. I wanted to know how exactly Hyperion Planning is related to hyperion Essbase. How does Planning Relate to Essbase!Planning is a tool for creating and amending Applications and Databases within Essbase. It also provides a method of accessing the data via webbrowsers and controls the edit and view access to Planning Units (Budget, Version, Year combinations as a simplistic view). The full detail can be seen on their website if you look for the Demos (www.hyperion.com).Planning uses a RDBMS to store structures, security information and other data about the Essbase application which is then used to create or amend the Essbase Application / Database. All measures are held in Essbase.You can create dataloads and outline loads (as you can in Essbase) by using Hyperion Application Link (HAL). Amending the Essbase Application directly will not feed back into Hyperion Planning but HAL looks easy enough.I think the question "how long to implement" is a bit like how long is a piece of string! ODI and Hyperion Planning help

Hi,
I have 2 Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 servers setup for Finance and HR applications. I want to copy data from the HR application to the finance one.
I have ODI 10.3.5 setup on a separate machine with Hyperion Planning adapter installed. In the topology manager when I try to create a new data server under Hyperion Planning, I don't see the Application (catalog) and Application (work catalog) drop downs filled.
I have checked the RMI registry service running on the hyperion server and port 11333 is also free.
I am new to ODI and I'm trying to configure it using Oracle's guides.

Hyperion Planning is an older technology that is being replaced with Oracle Pillar. Planning was an event based calendar system that allowed you coordinate schedules kinda like Outlook calendar, but on a bigger scale. Pillar will allow that to be done in a more distributed environment
