FDQM and FDM
Hi all,
Can you tell me the difference between FDM and FDQM?
Thanking you.
There is not FDQM. The acronym for Fiancial Data Quality Management is FDM.
Sometimes people throw the Q in there, but for all product/marketing purposes it is FDM

I DID SEARCH A LOT i just want to know when to use odi with fdqm and when to just use fdqm alone and why ? and can i configure source adapter into fdqm and how ? and does fdqm support importing flat files as source and if yes what its adapter ? i would appreciate if any one help me on that i searched a lot but looks like fdqm informations few on the net
Hi ,
I could see the excruciating pain ,which you have been undergoing. Let me try to address few of the question ( out of many).
1. ODI and FDQM , ODI can be assumed as a traditional ETL tool ( infact it is ELT), whereas FDQM is not, its more to do to uphold the sanctity of financial data. FOr more ODI information, John's blog is the best resource undoubtedly.
2. "Just using FDQm", let me expalin this way - there is an HFM application and data needs to be loaded from 3 different georgraphies of their respective TB's ( Trial balances). These 3 different geographies have 3 different formats of TB's but nevertheless it needs to go into one single HFM application. Then , you would use FDQM to load the data into HFM application. This also answers your question that yes, flat files can be loaded . In our case, TB's might be in flat files as well.
3. Adapters, if we intent to load data into Planning applicatino, we have seperate adapters, if we intent to load into HFM, then we have HFM adapters available. You can find this information in the 'readme ' docs of FDM
4. As said earlier, FDM is not an ETL, its responsibility is to check the quality of financial data. Hence, the name ' Financial Data qualtiy management'. Now, the typical scenario in many of the implementations is that data if loaded directly from Oracle Apps or EBS ( in short ERP systems) into Hyperion applications. IN this case, we use FDM along with adapter called ERPi.
Now, if a finanial analyst looks at a number in one of the HFM data forms and realises that it cannot be true and doubts the quality of this financial data. Then, he can drill back from the very data form to the source EBS system with the help of FDM. This is one of the major advantages.
HOpe I have answered few of the questions.

HFM and FDM on Windows server 2008 - 64 bit
Hi All,
We are installing HFM and FDM on Windows server 2008 - 64 bit.
For FDM we installed 32 bit oracle client and for HFM 64 bit client.
When trying to Configure HFM the database Configuration is failing.
Appreciate all your support.I was not able to get both HFM and FDM to work on the same node due to differences in the 32/64 bit Oracle Client requirements. I suggest moving FDM to another node where you can install the 32 bit client without effecting HFM.

Is this script still valid for setting up Drill through between HFM and FDM
Guys hoping some one can shed a light.
I am running hfm and fdm realese 11.1.1.3.000
I am having issues setting up the SSO authentication (all the other steps have been done, and HFM is aware that I have uploaded information that can drill back). I am using an SSO script that was part of an Oracle presentation, but don't know if that script is still relevant.
Here is a copy of the script (Visual Basic Script SSO Authentication) :
Function AuthenticateSSO(token, applicationName)
' Place your single sign-on authentication script here
' To signify an authentication failure, you should
' raise an error by calling the following method:
' Err.Raise [error number over 1000], [source], [description]
' Applicationname = FDMApplication in URL
Const strProcSig = "AuthenticateSSO"
Dim strUsername
Dim strDomain
Dim objHFMSSO
Dim strClusterName ' HFM cluster name
Dim strAppName ' HFM application name
Set objHFMSSO = CreateObject("upsIntBlockFM40C.clsHypeWindowFM")
If Not objHFMSSO Is Nothing Then
strClustername = "<xxxxxxxx>"
Select Case ApplicationName
Case "<xxxxxxxx>"
strAppName = "<xxxxxxxx>"
End Select
strUsername = objHFMSSO.Connection.GetUsernameFromToken(CStr(Token), strClustername, strAppName)
If Trim(strUsername & "") = "" Then
' Blank user name means the token is invalid.
Set objHFMSSO = Nothing
Err.Raise 2655, strProcSig, "The Single Sign-on token is invalid."
Else
' Return the user name from the authenticated token.
AuthenticateSSO = strUsername
End If
End If
Set objHFMSSO = Nothing
End Function
After I input all the information requested, I always get the error Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /HyperionFDM/AuthorizedPages/IntersectionSummaryByLocation.aspx
I did saw a note about this error that suggested that I needed to re-register and deploy again FDM. Did, but still have the same issue. So the only thing that I don't control is the script and that is why I am asking if this script is still active and usable?I have done all of that but I still get an error when trying to drill back. I am using the Admin ID which exist on both FDM and HFM but I am always getting the
Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.

So the only thing that I hadn't tried at the time was the SSO script. Which was what I did. -
Hi All
We have new requirement our Source is PeopleSoft from that we want to load data to essbase and planning using ERP Integrator
Previously we use to get text files from Peoplesoft and we use to load it FDM to Planing & Essbase
What are prerequisites to connect to Peoplesoft -> ERP Integrator -> FDM
Do we require ODI to connect to Peoplesoft ?
Can anyone explain me the flow
Thanks,Hi Tom
We are using
1. Hyperion 11.1.2.2 Essbase ,Planning and FDM
2.ODI 11g
3.Now we want to Connect to Peoplesoft using ODI -> ERPi -> FDM ->Essbase and Planning
One is connecting ERPi & FDM through the use of the appropriate adapter, and additional metadata information.
If possible can u explain the above clearly
Thanks -
Hi,
I need to install EPM 11.1.2.2 that includes FDQM and ERPi.
Can FDQM and ERPi web app be installed on two different windows based server? or do they have to be on the same server.?
It will be convenient to have them on the same server but I have a distributed environment.
Foundation services and weblogic is on the server where I have ERpi webapp. Correct me if I 'm wrong but this way Erpi can use weblogic and can be access from workspace.
Just wondering if I can install FDQM on another server where ODI is installed. Will FDQM will be able to communicate with Erpi if I do this?
Thank you!!Hi,
One more question please.
So can ERPi be on a different server than Foundation and weblogic.
To simplify, I want to have FDQM+ERPi +ODI on server.
Weblogic + Foundation + Planning +all other web applications on another server.
In this case will I be able to deploy ERPi on the same weblogic (used for other web applications) and access ERPi from Workspace.
Thanks for your help. -
Hi,
Please tell me what is difference between FDM and FDM workbench.
Thanks in advance :)The FDM web is the main interface for FDm when the Import of source data is performed, Mapping is Created, Locations are Built, etc.
The Workbench is strictly a Windows CLient tool for FDM administrators where the Adapters are imported and maintained for the target and source (if using ERPi).
The workbench is also used to import the reports for FDM and you can maintain scripts within the workbench (you can also maintain scripts from the web as well). -
ERPi and FDM for 11.1.2.2 - Source adapter?
Hi, all
Could you please help on the following questions about ERPi and FDM for 11.1.2.2
1. In general, what is a source adapter used for?
2. In the FDM installation package, there is an adapter (ERPI-FIN-E) for ERP integrator.
I would like clarify if my understanding below is correct or not.
My understanding is that this adapter allows automation on execution of ERPi data load rules in the FDM application, which means we can kick start the data load rule of ERPi by scheduled FDM jobs.
Thanks so much for your help.Hi,
1. Classic FDM source adapters are used to import data from native supported source system (EBS, SAP, ERPI) instead of files or databases. Let´s say that in some how the extract process is already packaged so you can extract from source system what the adapter does
2. You are right, as ERPI is a transition product between Classic FDM and FDMEE (11.1.2.3), there were some FDM functionality missing in ERPI. Therefore you had to use a mix of ERPI and FDM in order to get the full functionality. You use ERPI to extract data and FDM to process it (scripting, intersection validation report, etc.)
In 11.1.2.3, this gap is even smaller as now we have scripting, intersection validation report, and other functionality within FDMEE 11.1.2.3 (re-branded ERPI). The source adapter for Classic FDM still exists.
In 11.1.2.4, as classic FDM will not be available anymore -> no more source adapter :-)
Hope that helps

Hi,
I am currently loading data to the planning application via interface tables. Would it be useful(more efficient.....) to use FDM?
From my point of view it looks like FDM is more aimed at financial management.
Thank you
lubosHi,
I wouldn't say it would be more efficient and you probably don't need to change your method, if you wanted more control around the data being loaded by users then I would say it is useful.
Cheers

ERPi and FDM with concatenation
Hi folk. I'm using EBS/ERPI/FDM/Planning 11.1.1.3 and I've concatenated 2 GL segments in 1 dimension entity. In the metadata rule I used this option plus a prefix E, but in FDM, after import I've had E1111_222222, instead of E1111222222. How to disapear with the underscore characater in order to pass thru FDM Validation?
Thanks in advance
Luiz MenegocciAre both segments contained in the source file that is generated by ERPi? Rather than concatenating in ERPi, you many want to have the import define both fields in the source file as the entity dimension and in your import format use both fields for entity and the two fields will be concatenated, just like a standard source file file would be.
Just a thought.
Other than that, I could only see this being done with an import script assigned to the entity field. -
Hi,
Does FDQM requires a 32 bit MS office 2010. Or can it work with a 64 bit MS office as well?
Any pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance!!It is only excel that is required for FDM not office, it used to be 32bit only but now I believe it can be 32 or 64.
Cheers

Whats the difference between ODI and FDM
Hi Everyone,
Can Anyone explain the diff between FDM and ODI ?
Thanks!
VaneetODI - Full extract, load and transform tool for moving data from heterogenous data sources to hetergenous targets.
FDM - A workflow based tool for users to import data from a file or database, create mappings, validate the mappings and then move the data in Hyperion EPM targets.
Where FDM is a predominantly user based interface that allows users to monitor and audit the progress of data (especially things like GL data), ODI is a significantly more technical tool and would - in all likelehood - be automated and potentially managed and monitored by the IT department.

Hi All,
My team is trying to load data into essbase cube but not able to succeed. I need information if FDQM is compatible with essbase cubes
RajaThanks Raja,
As per my knowledge goes, FDQM does not work with ASO Cube. Some one can pitch in and correct it . It works with BSO for sure.

Problem with Batch Loader and FDM user regional settings
Hi
I am using FDM 11.1.2.1.
When I use the English regional settings for my FDM user account, I can do Export Excel from FDM, but Batch Loader doesn't work (Error : "one or more parallel processes failed to start).
When I use the French regional settings for my FDM user account, Export to Excel doesn't work anymore (Error: Conversion from string "12.0" to type 'Long' is not valid. Detail: InnerException1: Input string was not in a correct format.), but the Batch loader is ok.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance for your help
FannyHi Mittal,
By default, formats for date is determined by the report server language at run time. The report server language is the language of the operating system on which the report server is installed. So the formats for date is determined by the language of the
operating system on which the report server is installed.
When you deploy the report to SharePoint site that the regional setting is set to English (Australia), please also set the report language to ‘en-AU’. Then the date format can be also changes to English (Australia).
If the issue is still exited, could you please tell us the date format of date parameters and the field? If possible, please post the screenshot about this, then we can make further analysis.
