FDQM-HFM-Adaptor

Hello All,
We are planning to install and configure HFM & FDQM 11.1.2.1 version in two different servers.
HFM in 64 bit Server and FDM in 32 Bit Server.
Our concern is with regard to integration of HFM with FDM when both are installed on two different servers.
Besides registering the Adapters and Machine Profile, is it necessary to install HFM Client in FDM server in order to integrate both HFM & FDM.
If it is necessary to install HFM client in FDM 32 bit server, which version of HFM client should be installed HFM 64 bit or HFM 32 bit client.
Please share your thoughts

Seems like we got the answer.
We have installed FDM on 32 bit server and HFM on 64 bit server.
Also we have installed HFM Client 32 Bit in FDM 32 Bit Server and added the Cluster (HFM 64bit) to the HFM client (in FDM Server).
Continued by registering the Adapters and configuration of Machine profile in FDM.
Once done with this we have checked the integration in FDM which is working perfectly fine.

Error 53 - File not found when registering HFM adaptor for 11.1.2.1, 64 bit

We are having trouble registering the HFM adaptor (FM11X-G5-E-1005) in version 11.1.2.1 of FDM which sits on 64 bit windows 2008 R2.
I have followed the procedure of the KM article KM 1211618.1 which essentially has you deleting the 32 bit COM+ application that 11.1.2.1 improperly installs and registering the 64 bit component. Unfortunately, the 1st part of that process is not working. After going into dcomcnfg and deleting the COM+ app the next 2 steps are:
1) RegAsm.exe /codebase "<Path to your adapters folder>\FM11x-G5-C\fdmAdapterCOMadmin\fdmAdapterCOMadmin.dll"
2) RegSvcs.exe "<Path to your adapters folder>\FM11x-G5-C\fdmFM11xG5C\fdmFM11xG5C.dll"
Step #1 is failing and yields the following error message: RegAsm : error RA0000 : Unable to locate input assembly 'E:\Oracle\Middleware\EP
MSystem11R1\products\FinancialDataQuality\SharedComponents\AdapterComponents\fdm
AdapterCOMadmin\fdmAdaptorCOMadmin.dll' or one of its dependencies.
Any suggestions to assist with this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Before you do step 1 are you doing:
cd C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727
If you are not in that directory and/or do not call it explicitly you are probably not getting the exact regasm/regsvcs you require.
I do this quite a bit on Server 2008 R2 and haven't ran into this issue.

ORA-12154 Connection error from HFM to Oracle Database

Hi,
I am trying to configure Hyperion HFM but can write to HFM database.
The implementation architecture:
Hyperion 11.1.2.2 (with all the requiered patches for HFM, FDM, Shared Services, Workspace and Oracle Application Development)
Server 1:
Windows Server 2008 x64
Installed products: Foundation (EPMA, CalcManager), BI, HFM web components and ADM driver
Configured products: Foundation(EPMA, CalcManager), BI.
Database Client: 11gR2 x64
Server 2:
Windows Server 2008 x64
Installed products: HFM, FDQM
Configured Products: FDQM, HFM
Database Client: 11gR2 x32, 11gR2 x64 (x32 version installed first)
Server 3:
Database: Oracle 11.2.0.2
All the products from server 1 are working fine, FDQM (server 2) is also working fine, but, when I try to do any action related with HFM database the system fails.
I have tested the connection is these scenarios:
1. SQLdeveloper: successfull!, I can create tables, views, etc. Double checking the user privileges it has all the required.
2. tnsping: successfull!
3. HFMApplicationCopy utility: Successfull using UDL file and writing the connection parameters.
4. EPM System Configurator: the configurator successfully validates the database connection information, but does not create the tables on the database. No errors in the configtool log.
5. EPM Diagnostic Tool: fails with this error message:

I Just delete the line "+(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+" and its corresponding closing parenthesis, I did this cause in the configuration utility log I saw this line:
+TNS parsing: Entry: DESCRIPTION_LIST [[Address: Protocol:(TCP) Host:(<server_name>) Port:(1521) SID:(<service_name>)]]+
So, if the applications were trying to connect to connection descriptor DESCRIPTION_LIST, the driver could not recognize DESCRIPTION_LIST as a valid one.
There is a lot going on behind the scenes when you work with Oracle Database as the repository, maybe there is some other way to address this issue, but it worked for me, hope it can help you too.

Sharing mappings for single dimensions between locations

Dear all,
In our application we want to load data into essbase as well as into HFM, so we are using the two different adaptors. We though about using on the one hand locations with the essbase adaptor and on the other hand locations with the HFM adaptor.
The account mapping table is the same regardless of loading into HFM or Essbase. The problem now is, that once a mapping in the account dimension is changed in an essbase location, it should also be automatically changed for the corresponding HFM location. The solution seems to be the creation of a location with a third adaptor that contains the HFM dimensions (until UD4) as well as the additional dimensions (UD5 - ...) for Essbase. This location is then the parent location for the HFM as well as for the Essbase locations. However, according to my understanding, this third adaptor can only be connected with one system (lets say Essbase). This means that once a mapping tabel for the HFM-UD3 is updated, it will result in an error, as FDQM can not find the corresponding UD3 member in Essbase.
1. Is there a solution for this problem, so that for some dimensions the mapping table refers to essbase metadata while for others the mapping table refers to HFM metadata?

2. Does anyone has a proposal for an approach to share the mapping tables of certain dimensions between different locations with different adaptors?

Hi Chris,
You put some good thoughts in here. Have you tried to use a parent location with the 3rd adapter yet? Depending on whether the adapter of the parent or the child location has priority this might work or not. Give it a try, might be a great reference for the rest of us, so thanks for sharing your results.
The only other solution I see would be to add some scripting to sync the dimensions that you need.

Hi All -
I just got vmware & want to have the latest hyperion products installed on the machine. However I'm having trouble getting all the latest products in one file from edelivery site for 2003 32 bit windows server. Could you please provide me a link so that I can directly download from there. The downloadable package must include EPMA, FDQM, HFM, Essbase, FR, Web Analysis, IR ....
Also, do we really need both IIS & Apache web servers running while working with EPMA system 11 EPMA products? If yes, why do we need both? I saw both running in my friend's VM, and was wondering why.

This is what it states in the readme documentation issued with the adapter:
The standard HFM adaptor and HFM Intercompany adaptor both use the upsFM9xG4A.dll
FM9i-G4-A.xml - Intercompany Detail adaptor
FM9x-G4-A.xml - Standard HFM adaptor
You would use FM9i when connecting to the HFM Intercompany Module.
You would use the FM9x when connecting to the standard HFM Module.

FDM - Multiload - "AftValidate" / "AftWeblinkVal" event problems

I have built a custom made intersection validation report for multiload using excel as the source file. I basically modified the HFM adaptor and used the inbuilt loop in "if strEventName = "AftWeblinkVal"" (i.e. aftvalidate) to change the POV period. This worked fine and all I need to do is readjust the output to show all reports for all period and not just for the latest. This should be easy. However, problem is that when I have a text file, the "loop"doesn't work the same way as POV period stays the same. I think this is a bit srange, but hey what can you do? I guess it is linked to that with the excel you transfer period per period and with the text file FDM creates one load file and consolidates multiple periods simultaneously.
Is it somehow easily possible to modify that the strEventName = "AftWeblinkVal"-loop changes the period also for the text file?
If not, can you somehow easily deduct how many "periods" / "records" you have looped in the strEventName = "AftWeblinkVal"? i.e. I would like to track the progress of the loop.
If not, then I have to built some fancy custom made recorder to track the progress, but I wouldn't want to go done on the that road if not neccessary and I would prefer to use the text file.
I'm using FDM 11.1.1.1.0 currently...

Sorry for the confusion but when I was talking about putting the count in an FDM variable I was in fact referring to one of the FDM API global variables i.e. PvarTempNC1 which can be accessed via the API --> API.DataWindow.Reports.PvarTempNC1.
Store your count in this variable and increment as appropriate. The reason your count only ever shows as one is because the multiload action is executed every for every period in the multiload file for the multiload AftValidate event so even if you put it outside your IF satement capturing the event it will still be reset to 0 and in any case the declared count variable will only ever be local to each execution of the multiload action.
Your code needs to be something like:

Can HFM & FDQM run on Oracle Database 10.2.0.2 based on a 64bit server?

To enhance performances of HFM and FDQM, my customer would like to upgrade the Oracle DB server (10.2.0.2) that runs on Windows Server 2003, from 32Bit to 64Bit, that supports larger number of connections.
The HFM and FDQM are installed on Windows Server 2003 32Bit and will not move to the new 64Bit server so only the Oracle DB will be installed on the new 64Bit server.
Is it possible? Is there any document that explain it?

I am facing another related problem. I have installed HFM 9.3.1.1 along with Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 in Windows server 2003 SP2. When I try to create udl by choosing Oracle Provider for OLE DB, the test connection succeed. but giving unknown error at the time of Application server configuration indicating to apply working udl file.
When I check the HFM installation guide, it tells to download and install the 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' file from Oracle.com (as per page 21 of the installation doc).But the problem is that the 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' file is not available for the aforesaid Oracle 10g version.
Can anybody guide me in the aforesaid problem? Please sent the link from where I can get the file for installation purposes.

FDQM Sample data load file for HFM

I have just started working on FDQM 11.1.1.3. I had done integration of HFM application with FDQM. I required to load data to HFM application i don't have any gl file or csv file with hfm dimension . so any one can help me get this file.......

i just want to know what is the basic steps i need to perform to load data to HFM application after creating fdm application and integrating with hfm application.

After creating fdm application and integrating with hfm application also includes the Target Application name setting in FDM
Now the FDM application is ready with its target set to HFM application
1. You can create an Import format as below for the application using only Custom1 and Custom2 dimensions from 4 available Custom dimensions(you can modify according to your dimensions):
Use '|'(Pipe as delimeter)
Account|Account Desription|Entity|C1|C2|Amount
2. You can create a text file with data like mentioned below by making a combination of members from each dimension specified in import format:
11001|Capex|111|000|000|500000
11002|b-Capex|111|000|000|600000
Note: these dimension memers should be mapped in 'Mappings' section; use the members specified in file as source and select any target member of HFM for them
3. Then tag this import format with any location
4. Import the text file using 'Browse' option
5. Validate the data loaded
Note: If mapping is done for all dimension members used in file, then validation will be successful
6. Export the data
Now you can export and hence load the data to HFM application using Replace/Merge option.
Here you are with the basic steps to load the data from FDM to HFM.

Using Planning with FDQM, where are the essbase adaptors?

I have EPM system version 11 installed, and have been working with Planning. I do not know much about Financial Data Quality Management, but would like to explore its capabilities and use it with Planning. I have created a new FDM application following John Goodwin's blog [http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2008/07/planning-v11-drill-back.html].
In the Oracle documentation it talks about adaptors, and the blog explains that the essbase adaptor must be imported, which "consists of an executable (upsES9XG4B.exe) and an xml file (ES9x-G4-B.xml)". I am not able to locate these files in the Hyperion directory. Does anyone know where they might be? Could I have failed to get them with my installation, or could they be called something else? Any insight into using FDM with Planning would be appreciated, including pointing to specific areas in the documentation I may have overlooked. Thanks.

I believe Essbase client is installed on the machine, in the Hyperion folder structure on the server (which contains all EPM system including FDM) there is a folder C:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin, I assume that is where the adaptor must be placed? I guess my question is, in your blog, you placed it in the Shared Components folder of FDM, was it also in the Essbase client bin folder?
If I am totally off here, please correct me, I am new to this system and might be making incorrect assumptions. Detailed, beginner explanations work best, thanks for all your help John!

Error while installing FDQM

Suggest you review the fdm_config.pdf document which you should be able to find in the documentation available at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/epm.html
After you register and import the appropriate FDM adaptor you open that up and right click on Machine Profiles and add a machine profile. There are source/target machines. The source machine will be your FDM machine and the target machine will be the machine (or cluster) which contains product you are integrating FDM with.
There are quite a few other configuration settings such as setting the application name and ensuring the dimensions are setup properly too.

What's the right way to run a consolidation in HFM from FDM?

New to FDM. Things are working ok, but wondering what's the best way to run a consolidation in HFM after loading.

You need to create a validation entity.
On the validation entity, make sure you click the Consolidate check box. Then in integration settings, click Enable Consolidation. You need to also turn on the Force Calculate option. If this is a multicurrency app and you want translation to run, also enable the Force Translate option of the adaptor.

Installing HFM in hyperion 9.3.1

Hello gurus,
I am new to hyperion system 9.3.1 and I have issue in installation configuration in HFM 9.3.1,
I have installed following components on Windows server 2003 SP1 x86, and I have used SQL server 2005 SP1.
1. Shared service
2. Reporting and analysis (Workspace, FR)
3. HDM
4. FDQM
I did following installation steps,
1. Installed and configured Shared service.
2. Installed HFM component (ADM Client), for Financial Management as a data source.
3. Installed and configured Reporting and Analysis.
4. Installed and configured HFM. Enable DCOM using user "Administrator".
5. Configured EPMA.
6. Configured Web server.
Did I missed some thing or did any wrong method?
I got following errors:
1. HFM is not get listed in workspace "Help>About>Show Details" list. only EPMA and FR is there.
2.After opening Application library, there is no option of create new application under File menu.
3.During logging in FDM Workbench getting error "[10061] Connection refused - 25062".
I don't know how to solve these issues what should I do?

After Installing and configuring hyperion 9.3.1, I did in-place Upgrade of HSS, HFM, FDM, EPMA, Reporting and Analysis all installation and Configuration went well but I don't know what is the post procedure on updating to 9.3.3.

:- We need to just Enable Following *"Web Service Extensions"* properties in IIS Console,
a)Active Server Pages
b)FrontPage Server Extensions
c)Server Side Includes

:- Its due to insufficient privileges given to user. Give Create application privilege to user.

Issue with HFM installation

Hi friends,
I am using iss 6.0 for web server and tomcat as application server during installation.WE are using 2 systems
t1-windows xp
t2- windows 2003 server
I am aware that iis5.1 in windows xp is not suppoted as per the support matrix.Initially i installed everthing i.e.
shared services, BI client and services,UI,HFM,EPM,tomcat ,iis(ap server,web server repectively)
In this scenario everthing was working fine except one problem
I was able to create an application using HFM win32 client and load data on it.But when i open the same application in workspace it gives me "appcontainer not found" error. I think that was because iis5.1 was unable to host 2 sites - HFM and EPM simultaneously
Second step:
To get rid of this issue i took t2 system and installed only HFM and EPM webserver part only and HFM win32 client.
HFM virtual directory doen't appear on iss6.0 so I manually created the one giving it the path of my "WEB" Folder created inside Financial management.I accessd it from other system and i was getting the default page printing "HFM"
Third step:
Nw i configured Financial management in t1 system.In product instance config i gave it the path of t2
as webserver location and it is scucceded . Then during financial management config., i got 5-6 tabs to be configured
like appserver,server-cluster registration,web server etc. I am just trying to reconfigure web server tab. I am trying to give UNC path for the HFM web folder installed in t2 server.But it is giving me "an unknown error occurred"
More questions:
1) is tomcat supported as app server in windows xp???
2) I saw iis, Apache HTTP server(web servers for HFM) ,and tomcat(appserver for HFM And EPM) and mod jk module
I am unable to understand the process flow of HFM.And how all these are used in the entire process of client request and server response.
3) How these app and web servers can be distributed to different systems
4)What should be the ideal configuration if we want to install all the above modules + FDQM in multiple systems

If it says the host doesn't have enough memory, then you have too little memory available for vbox to use. How much RAM does your host have? I'm currently testing in vbox as well on Debian, I gave it 1GB of RAM and it's more than usable in cli, a little slow once you have a desktop environment up but it works. If you have less than 2GB of ram try giving it 512MB or more. Remember to close anything that you don't need to free used memory.
Since you haven't installed the base system, just make a new machine and pay attention to the initial settings.
Also, check your email.
