Feathering a layer's edge - increasing intensity closer to the edge

I am working on a project where I need to make an office chair appear to have eyes. Specifically, dog eyes.
I'm having trouble getting the edges of my eyes to look like they are part of the chair, which got me wondering. Is there a way to feather my edges with increased intensity closer to the edge? To be specific, I'd like to start the feather 100px inside the border with 60% opacity, all the way to the edge (border) with 0% opacity. I tried doing this manually a couple of ways and it just didn't look uniform. I'll post the photos I am using below, in case that might help. Please let me know if any additional information might help as well.
I have also tried with the eyes seperated (without the middle area), but I still have the same issues.
I found this image that shows what I'm trying to do.

Two eye layers - and a small piece of copied chair on a layer above the bottom one. The small blue bit is set to Hue, so it colors the bottom eye layer. Mask out all but the eyes on the top layer, and leave just enough of the bottom (blue) eye layer to give some definition.

In the inspector, on the Layout tab, there's a checkbox that reads, "Show Thumbnail Track".

Close to the Edge

I'm replicating to a DVD-9 and my final project in DVDSP is coming in at 7.6. I haven't built yet, so I don't know if that will go up even higher, but am I already too close to the edge to have my project replicated safely?
I believe there is a certain amount of headroom you have to account for but I don't know how much.
If I am too close to the limit, how much should I reduce by? I have 10 minutes of DVD extras that I could re-encode at a lower bit-rate perhaps.

If what you are going by is the size indicator on the upper right, then you should be 'OK'. That will not reflect the size of your final project as it relates to size for a particular disc size. One thing you can do to convince yourself is to just build your project to your hard drive and check the properties of the built video_ts folder for content size and I think you will find you are safely under the limit. Even if the reading is dead on, you still have some head room.

When the left margin is set to 0 in the layout for the main body of text the text starts at 1 13/16"! I have "Show Layout" on and the layout left border starts at 1 13/16". How do I get this moved closer to the left edge of the page?

Now that you've given me the template, I have been able to check.
You are right. In fact there are other odd glitches in this template. The Headers and Footers are hard left, with no adjustment possible.
It is not just this template it is most of the Letterhead templates that I have opened. On all margins. It appears Apple has done something in the xml and hasn't checked their own work, or simply is not interested. My guess is they made the error with one and used that one to make the other variations from it.
I suggest creating your own stationery template from a blank template or using one of the other templates that doesn't have the problem.

IPad 2 wifi only works close to the router?

I have the iPad 2 with ios 7. It worked perfectly fine for a long time, but two or three weeks ago, the wifi signal dropped dramatically unless I stood in the same room as the router. The router is in a central location in my house. When I walk away, I drop down to one bar, and sometimes it loses connection entirely. I have tried to use this iPad in public places like Starbucks and the apple store and it works fine there. I have dropped my iPad a few times, so could this be an antenna issue? I had a genius bar appointment, and the apple employee brought up this idea and reset my iPad completely, hoping it would help, but the reset did not help. I have tried researching many ways to resolve this wifi issue, butintone have worked. Any help?

You may have damaged an internal connection.
Some iPad users have been able to revive their dropped iPad. Turn the iPad over and give it a HARD SLAP on the back. May take several slaps.

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Some things to try first:

I was trying to update an app but now I can't close it down. I have tried most things - it keeps saying I must close down the app but it doesn't allow me to do this. I have powered off the computer but it just comes back. Any suggestions?

I had been trying to update an app on my IMac and when it came to do it, it said I must close down the app site, in this case WeatherEye. However, I could not close it down and update says it is waiting. I have tried everything I know to get rid of this but it remains even when powering off the machine. Any suggestions?

In principle, I agree with you...
But it appears that reality is not perfect. I observed on iPhone 3 that memory could be pretty clogged from time to time and I needed to restart it to free up memory and get it back to original speed again. It all depends on which apps you are running. Some appears to eat more memory than others. On iPhone 4, it appears to be less of a problem and I have seen that later iOS releases also makes this less of a problem. I only have a first generation iPad, but I have seen that later iOS releases have improved memory handling significantly there as well. However, it appears to be a good idea to reboot the device after a week or two just to flush the memory. I can't prove this theory scientifically, but I do see a difference in memory usage when doing this.
The reason I actually tried "Process Killer" was a tip that it addressed the problems many of us encountered with the first iOS 5 release: frequent crashes and slow performance. After the pretty quickly released iOS 5 update, that wes pretty much solved, but occasionally killing processes actually helped me at that point, It made both my devices more stable.
The original question was about battery performance, there I don't think that the amount of processes running is the key. A much better way of getting more out of your battery is shutting off location services in apps where they are not really needed. I would guess that turning off push notofications for as many apps as possible helps as well.
Also, turn off the Personal Hotspot on iPhone when it's not needed!

I do not use tabs... just windows... I have a mouse button programmed for that. It is really irritating to have to restart Firefox all the time and then open the history window because no warning was issued!

This is ridiculous. I've had this problems for years now and I'm finally walking away from Firefox. I use my keyboards more than my mouse, and how many times does your finger slip and hit Command Q instead of W. How come FF can't reset something as trivial as this? So many people are having problems with this?

The first tab I have never closes and when I open a second one and close that the whole browser will close. Is this a bug?

Since downloading the 4.0 beta, in both versions (4.0 and 3.6) I can't close the first tab that is opened when I start the browser. I click the red close button and nothing happens but if I open another tab and close that then it will close and the whole browser will close. I have uninstalled the beta version and the 3.6 version and reinstalled the 3.6 version but it hasn't made a difference.

Script to Close all the collapsible panels on click of one collapsible panel

Hi All,
Please help me with modifying the script or a new script to suffice the following.
I have around 5 to 6 collapsible panels in many html files. There is a huge content under each panel and thats the reason I want to collapse i.e., close all the open panels and open the panel that is clicked on.
that is initially i click on panel 1 - > Panel 1 opens and contents are displayed.
now I click on panel 2 - > panel 1 should close and panel 2 should open.
Please help me acheive this.

To close the remaining panels you can just use the onclick method and however many panels you have just add them to the list spacing them out with a " , "
