[FEATREQ] New 'Live Updating' option: realtime, every x hours, every day...

I just posted this as feedback to Apple, but I would like to hear your opinions on this as well.
The problem is that my iTunes and computer are stuttering at the beginning of every song, because all my smart playlists have to be updated with the new information that the previous song has been played. This causes iTunes to freeze up for about 20 to 25 seconds at the start of every new song, despite having quite a fast computer with plenty of RAM.
The culprit of course is that I have a large library (13k songs), as well as dozens of smart playlists depending on each other. However, the question is whether I should be punished for this? After all, you want to fill up that 80GB iPod, no? Anyways, I'm suggesting an extra option that would get rid of these issues no matter how big your library is or how many smart playlists you've got.
The feature I'm suggesting that would get rid of this issue is the following: instead of updating all smart playlists 'realtime', give the user the option of doing this live updating real time, every x hours, every day or only at startup. You could give the user this option either for every playlist independently, or globally in the settings for iTunes. With this extra option, I would configure iTunes to update my playlists every 4 hours or something like that, and I would get the stuttering only every 4 hours instead of every 4 minutes, as it's right now.
Are there any other people who would like this option?
What do you think? Useful? Rubbish?

Are you sure that this is the problem? I have a 300 gig library with numerous interdependent smart playlists. I also mostly play iTunes over Airtunes. I don't have this problem. I do see some slowness in launching iTunes as a result of the smart playlists but once it's open, I don't have a problem. I'm guessing you turned live updating off on all the playlists to see if that solved the problem as I don't know how else you would have come to this conclusion.
The only short term fix I can see is to turn off live updating on at least some of the playlists and then turn it back on periodically.

Has anyone tried the installation with the New Software Updates Option?
I will install 11gR2 RAC Grid and I plan to do the following steps:
1) Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patchset 11.2.0.2
2) Do all the configuration with OUI
3) Create ASM disks
4) Install Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 Software Only
5) Apply Oracle Recommended Patches 11.2.0.2.2 (12311357) and 12431716. (ref. MOS doc [ID 756671.1])
6) Create RAC Database (advanced option) with DBCA
With these steps:
Grid and ASM disks would be configured without the recommended patches, but the database will be created with the patches applied.
I would not like to do a "Software only" install of GI and then apply the patches because later I would have to manually do all the configuration steps.
If I use the OUI Software Updates Option to apply the patches, will OUI do all the patching and then let me configure GRID with OUI ?

Why does new Safari screen appear almost every day?

Almost every day, I get a screen welcoming me to Safari, as if I had never used Safari before. This has been going on for about a week. In each case, I reset the settings, but the next day a new "Welcome" screen appears.

This happened to me, and I started paying really close attention to what I was doing . . .. I found that, being used to a wired Apple mouse, I got into the habit of tapping on the top of the mouse while waiting for the page to change. This sets off Zoom on the Magic Mouse.
So see if that's what's happening with you. I have to really watch it. I've gotten much better at not subconsciously tapping on the top, but it still happens every once in a great while. Otherwise, I love the Magic Mouse.
EDIT: If this is what's happening with you, you can undo it by tapping again on the top of the mouse. It's like a toggle.

Having the update options reset every time

Hi.
Looking for some information regarding how not to get my settings regarding background updates changed every time I install an update. It is very pushy, not ethical and not professional to change my update settings every time. I want to install the updates manually. Full stop.
If you keep pushing people to do the same thing again and again (personal Mac, personal Windows, business Mac and business Windows!), it is a ridiculous policy.
I know you are ADOBE but please remember that I am an end-user!
I am very much looking forward to have the HTML5 all around. Because of the mentioned reason and policies, it will be a pleasure to click the uninstall button.

I agree with the fact that the settings "should stick". However, they do not.
I have clearly stated that this happens on multiple operating systems and multiple location I use them.
No, I don't alter Windows systems' registries. No, I don't hack into my Mac systems inner things.
I am an end user and I, as it is my right to do so, want to take advantage of the convenience tools that Adobe provides. In this case, it is the "one click update" which, unfortunately, expects me to make my statement on that I don't want automatic updates EVERY TIME.
Suggesting not to use an update tool that one company provides is like selling a passenger plane without seats.

How do you update smart playlists with live update turned off?

If I create a smart playlist in itunes and deselect live updating then how exactly does the smart playlist load up?
The reason I ask is that started setting up Smart Playlists for all of the artists on my computer and they're all set to live update which is consequently slowing down my itunes. I realize that I may not necessarily need that. My question is though...how exactly would I go about manually updating a smart playlist that has live updating turned off?

Well, the problem is that I have smart playlists for every artist in my library (which is literally hundreds). With every live update turned on, every time I edit tags for a new single or something it'll scan all the smart playlists for matches. The reason I'd like to have smart playlists instead of regular playlists is that I tend to add a lot of singles, and, especially in the hip hop genre, they tend to have a lot of guest appearances so I'd like the smart playlists to do tehir job.....I'd just prefer to not have it set to live update so I can avoid delays during tagging.
Apparently this is a known side efffect of having many smart playlists in your itunes. I realize my way of working with them might be slightly unconventional in comparison to how they are typically used but it's great for me. If I could leave live update on without any performance degregation then I would but it seems I have to pick.
I read somewhere that if you shut down itunes and restart that it'll refresh all your smart playlists (if live update is turned off).

Apple removed blood glucose until further notice. The reason behind this is that it gave a distorted picture in countries where the medical world used other measuring units. I suspect it will be available again in a future update.

I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw. However, it will not download from the "Update" option in CS6.

What OS do you have? You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here. If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system. There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).

What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately. Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version. The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:

I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
1. Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
2. Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
Download CS6 products
3. Update the application using its own Help - Updates process. That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work. If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

New VIA Drivers and Live-Update

I noticed the latest VIA drivers are not yet available for download using MSI's Live Update prgram. Is it ok to download them seperately from the official VIA site? Or should I just wait for the Live Updater to get them?

I only used Live Update for a limited time ... mostly because there was too much time between launching an new driver and the driver becoming available through Live Update. The VIA drivers are available for more than a week, I think.

Quite honestly, you should consider using the 32-bit release version rather than the "cutting edge" Night 64-bit version, which isn't currently being developed or supported.

This was NOT an update, rather a downgrade... the font size in text messages is now smaller and difficult to read. I have tried changing font size in settings and it does not apply to text messages. The lock/unlock screen pattern now reminds me of drawing a stick figure. My vehicle is now having problems with Bluetooth importation of my phone book--I keep receiving an on screen error message as it tries to continuously reattempt to import... Can't install MSI Live Update for new bios

Hi all,
sad to say, I too have the problem of MSI Live not installing.
Just bought a GTX 970 Gaming 4G and the Live update says "this platform is not supported". I tried the version from the disc and the version offered by the MSI support site. Both led to the same experience.
Would be great if you could help me out checking my bios and providing me with the newest one if needed.
(Instructions would be great though too )
