Feature in Audition in STP?

In Adobe Audition you can play a CD and record it in realtime as it is playing. Can you do this in Soundtrack Pro? I am not talking about a digital conversion.
G5

I don't know why you would want to do that because all you have to do is open the CD in the STP browser and drag the desired file on an audio track but no, you can't do what you want.

  • Missing features in Audition CS5.5

Ok, I have been playing around intensively with Audition CS5.5 for a few weeks now. Aside from the thing that SES to SESX import did not work natively (thanks Todd, for giving me the link, although I do think that it should have been included in the software in the first place), there are some other things that bug me.
Here's my top 4 (in order of personal importance):
    1. GROUP CLIPS
This feature is missing. If you're working on a mix, you need to be able to move parts quickly, not risking screwing up parts that are OK. Manually selecting all clips and then moving them is timewise not very efficient. IMHO, we really shouldn't have to wait until CS6 for this feature to return...
    2. LAYOUT
I keep hitting the vertical zoom sign whenever I want to zoom in horizontally. I use horizontal zooming much more than vertical. Of course you can use the + or - signs on the keyboard, but I find myself hitting the on-screen button time and again. In Au 3 they were in the "correct" position. And there's no way of adjusting the workspace so that I can place the buttons where I like them to be. I am so used to this on-screen layout, that I think it will take a long time to adjust to this.
    3. CLIP TIME STRETCH
You can't drag clips to stretch them to a desired length. You do have an improved dialog for Strecth and Pitch (which I like), but you can't do it visually on the timeline.
    4. PRE-LISTEN TRACKS
I Au 3 you could quickly sort through multiple effect tracks by pre-listening them using Auto-play in the import dialog to find that right type of swoosh you need from your sound collection. Now you can't, or you have to rely on Adobe Bridge.
I know that the Adobe Bug Report / Feature Request form is the best way to submit these (and I frequently use that), but I'm also curious if other sound editors deal with the same problems.

I believe no one has responded to the original post because all of these topics have been discussed in other threads since Audition CS 5.5 was released.  We absolutely appreciate knowing which missing features are most important to our users so that we can place priority toward implementing them.  While I can't divulge what features will be in Audition CS 6 at this time, I think it's safe to say that most of these requests will be satisfied.
Regarding the layout of the Zoom buttons, it is possible to display these buttons both within the standard Editor panel (the default view) and as a separate panel which can be positioned as you like.  Click Window > Zoom in the menu bar to open this panel.

  • Is there a feature in Audition CS6 similar to Soundtrack Pro's Conform Projects

    Hi All,
I'm new to the forums so I applogize if this is a repeat question, I could not find it during my searchs.  I have a video project that I sent from Premiere to Audition, did my sound mix and sent back to Premiere.  There was then a requested change to change the timing of the video, causing sound timing to change as well.  In Soundtrack I would send the updated sequence to soundtrack, conform projects, and then my filters, effects, and other modifications would be all back in place.  Is there a similar feature or way to accomplish this in the Premiere/Audition workflow?
    Thanks!
    Mark

Nothing in Acrobat, as emailed forms simply arrive in your regular mail client.
You could create a dedicated mailbox for the form, and set an auto-responder on your mail server - but that's all.

  • Feature Question - Audit Logging

Hello forum. Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this topic, but I was wondering if audit logging is a Standard Edition feature or if it's Enterprise only.
I can't find anything specifically saying that it is or isn't, and it's not enabled on my database so other than trying to enabling it and getting an error message (or not) I can't find an answer.
Sorry if this is a noob question, but I couldn't find anything about whether RMAN backup encryption was a Standard or Enterprise feature either, and it bit me in the ass when I found out it was Enterprise only.
    Thanks in advance...

My apologies if you think I wasn't thorough enough in my own research before asking the question. I did do my own research using oracle's docs and google, and my final resource was the 10g Oracle Database Security Guide, which mentioned nothing about which versions supported which features.
I did post my original question yesterday morning and received no response. As you said, this is a volunteer forum, and I'm grateful for the assistance, but as sad as you think it is that I asked for an answer within a time frame, I was left with no choice. The question was posed to me yesterday morning and I needed to return an answer this afternoon.
In any event, thank you for the information.

  • Feature Request:  Audition

How about making the wave form view on the same screen as the multi track view.  This, so you can select and drag events or regions from the waveform view window directly into a track on multi-track.  Sony Vegas has had this for years with their "trimmer" on the same screen as the multi track.  I've never understood the split personality of the multi track view-waveform view.  I've been working with digital audio since the SAW pro days.  Make it an option - for those who are accustomed to the status quo.  I still prefer using Vegas for building radio spots for that reason.  Thanks

Honestly, I feel like feature requests get ignored, unless they have more than one person's support behind them.
Not sure about that. We get Features that no one ever mentioned, discussed or asked for.
Its called 'Feature Creep' and I think there is one from last update being discussed in a Forum near you... right now.

  • Feature request FCP-7...To view 2 tracks without using multicam ?

Many of us work with 2 video tracks one above the other, sometimes I do not want to set up multicam to see both tracks simultaniously but how difficult can it be when looking at 2 video tracks would it be to allow us to view the footage underneeth track 2. Workarround is tedious, lowering oppacity of T2 or making box wipes in the motion tabs etc, this is fine till you are editing HD. So there it is...a way to view 2 tracks simultaniously without invoking multicam.

a way to view 2 tracks simultaneously without invoking multicam
For now, the Playhead Synchronisation mode Gang will get you halfway there ...
Place the playhead where you want to see both clips and then double click the lower (hidden) clip, Then choose View menu *> Playhead Sync > Gang*
Now, as you move the playhead in the canvas/timeline the image in the Viewer will be updated to show the equivalent frame from the ganged clip.
... but this only works at a clip level and not at a track level. If you are working with multiple short clips then consider nesting the track and then ganging to the nest.
(Note to Apple Developers: It ought to be easy to extend the Gang to work at a track level ie add a Gang Track mode, by exactly the method above whereby the track could be treated as a virtual nested clip)
Another way to quickly view the clips on a lower track is just to toggle clip or track visibility of the upper clip/track. Ctrl B is the shortcut for toggling a clips visibility. If toggling track visibility beware losing all your renders ... use Ctrl Z (undo) to toggle the tracks visibility back on as this will also bring back any lost render links.
As to a formal implementation of a new feature to view all tracks given the existing GUI, heres what I'd be thinking:
Similar to the common DAW function of stacking takes and auditioning them (STP can do it) I would imagine that being able to stack video clips and then view them all simultaneously (without having to set them up as a Multclip) ought to be a worthwile feature.
I'd see it working using a simple toggle key to open and close a QuickTake window or some such which would display all the clips at the playhead position similar to a MultiClip view. Similar to the Multiclip functionality, in the QuickTake window, clicking on the clip you want, or using a keyboard shortcut to switch, would make the chosen clip the active one (setting the Clip Enable/Disable Status accordingly for clips). Clips on tracks not targeted by Auto Select would not be referenced and/or affected by this mode.
Personally, in the For What It's Worth category, I think EDIUS's implementation of the Multicam workflow is amongst the best I've seen. You stack your clips on the timeline and then switch to Multicam mode (F5) ... no convoluted setup process, just instant Multicam functionality with whatever is on the timeline. Another key press to toggle it back to the normal edit mode.

  • How to install Audition 1.0 on Windows 7

    Hello
I am attempting to install Adobe Audition 1.0 on a Dell inspiron 1520 with the Windows 7 operating system. The software is loaded and accessible. However, it does not seem to be working as it should.
Can anyone advise me of the procedure to install version 1.0 on Windows 7?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Henry
Thank you for your helpful note. Can you explain more fully how you managed to get Audiiton 1.0 to work on Windows 7 64 bit operating system? I am not very computer literate. Do all of the features of Audition 1.0 work on your Windows 7 64 bit system?
    I really appreciate your reply.

  • How do you save µ-law in Audition CS6?  It's listed in the CS6 brochure.

I've been waiting for Audition CS6 to show up so I didn't have to choose between the new features of Audition CS5.5 and then switch back to Audition CS3 to save to µ-law, but I can't find it in the save options.
How do you save in the µ-law format?
    Thanks,
    phil

    Hi Phil,
When you select File > Save As... set the Format: dropdown to libsndfile.  Click the Change... button for Format Settings: and you'll be able to select a file format that supports μ-law compression.
As far as I am aware, the formats that support μ-law compression are:
    Waveform Audio
    Audio Interchange File Format
    Sun/NeXT AU format
    Raw Data
    Sphere NIST Format
    Creative Voice
    Berkeley/IRCAM/CARL
    Sonic Foundry/Sony Wave 64
    Microsoft WAVEFORMATEX
    Core Audio File Format

  • New features on ver. 5.5 with update or ver. 6

Sorry to ask (maybe someone just did it). But I would like to see all features on Audition 6 before to buy the update. I mean just to see all voices on menu. In particular I need the mastering tool, the scientific filter and the possibility to group files into multitrack. Thanks for answering.

Audition CS6 will give you everything you specifically asked for, except for the scientific filters.

  • Audition 5.5 is a fake

    Hi all,
Please forgive me if i'm wrong but I think Adobe is trying to pull a fast one on us.
If you're an Audition 3.0 user, like me you will soon find out that Audition 5.5 is simply Sound booth with a few audition filters included.
    It's as simple as that.
    Here are some examples:
1.Selecting left or right channels in audition would be:
Highlighting the left or right channel
In the Fake one, you must check the button on the right to deactivate left from right.
Hmm? didn't sound booth have that?
    2.
The ability to have all of your effects exposed in a collumn has been removed & replaced with an Effect rack.
Wait, didn't soundbooth have that too?
    3.Stereo Imagery:
All 8  effects are missing including CHANNEL MIXER
Aren't you suppose to "add" effects in newer versions not "remove" them
Hmm? soundbooth never had them either.
    4. Uhh..Interface.. duh Soundbooth
I will stop here because I think i'm making my point
Sorry for the sarcasm, but i HATE when the manager says "Yeah your room has a view" and when you get into it & open the window, you see a brick wall with a mural of an ocean painted on it.
That's exactly what adobe did with Audition.
I've been waiting YEARS for an upgrade. But all they did was keep pushing soundbooth down your throat.
So they added a few filters to soundbooth and called it AUDTION 5.5 !
So if any abobe members are out there, please let the the big boys know ...
"I want everyone to open their windows and yell out...we are not going to take it anymore!!!!"
(Ok, so the line was from a movie, it still sounded good.)

Yeah charles, if yor editing a 6 channel file, it wouldn't make sense.
But when you get files with a boom
on the right and a lav on the left, then a channel mixer is
    sweet.
As for 3.0 with cs5,  all is well. Simply right click in premiere, and bam, you're in Audition.
As for my comments, I might have jumped to conclusion too fast.
It does have most of the features from Audition. They're just moved around
Although I will ALWAYS stand by that it is a Soundbooth interface with a Audtion Engine, it still has Audition's great editing tools.
I will ALWAYS use it over pro tools(but thats another forum)
For me I always hated soundbooth's feel & interface. The only thing I Loved about soundbooth was you could Listen to an Isolated wav section.
    In Audition 3.0, you can't.
So when I heard Audition 5.5   I was so happy.  I figured wow  a 2011 version! But then:
I was like an 8 year old kid on Christmas morning opening a HUGE box only to find socks & T-shirts in it.
I said" Soundbooth?! What are you doing here? Audition my As_  , this is soundbooth
In any event, It's still is a great program. I'm sure "you" won't have any issues with it.

  • I do a radio show, when I pre-record i get a very low end hiss, almost sounds like gain is too high, but its not. If Im live to the station its fine. It only happens when I record. Is there a way to set audition NOT to record that low end sound?

I use an Allen & Heath broadcast board. When I record to my computer for later broadcast there is a low end hiss/hum barely noticeable when im speaking BUT very prominent when there is a quiet moment.
Sounds like gain may be tooo high, BUT its not.  When I do a LIVE broadcast using same equipment all is fine!
    Thoughts

    Well, several thoughts here...
First, what are you using to get from the A&H mixer into your computer and is it in the chain when you broadcast live?  I ask because a lot of built in sound cards are pretty noisy and that could be the source of the problem, fixable with even a very cheap external USB interface
Second, if the hiss actually starts at the mic/mixer, I know the A&H XB series has a high pass filter on every mic channel.  Have you engaged that?
That said, it's pretty rare for hiss to be such a low frequency that the high pass filter will kill it.  You may get on better with the Noise Reduction feature in Audition, applied after the recording.
Anyhow, to repeat how I started, what's your signal chain when recording and how does it differ from when you go live?

  • Audition VS. Soundbooth

    Hello,
I just discovered this site..I've been writing in the beta forum so far. So I'll share want I said so far here:
There are a lot of features in Audition that would be very useful in Soundbooth, simple things like running multiple instances of Soundbooth at the same time, e.g. applying an effect on one file and editing another.
Also, making tracks for a CD, in Soundbooth you have to make loops...in Audition you can make markers that have length (distance) and batch process them.
Also when positioning the cursor to put the marker it snaps to the exact spot whereas in Soundbooth it's not exact.
In Soundbooth the cursor is not in sync with audio waveform, makes editing difficult. [Cursor drags behind waveform.]
These are some things to consider for future updating of Soundbooth...
or else making Audition available for Mac's.
    But Audition needs features that are in Soundbooth;
Like, Audition doesn't a have history panel, Soundbooth does. Audition doesn't have preview of entire file above view area. Audition doesn't have spectral and waveform views @ the same time, you must toggle. Although adaptive noise reduction in Audition is impressive....
I noticed another flaw in Soundbooth: when applying time stretching and noise reduction, you can't apply it to a selected area like you can in applying effects. Making you have to save the selected area as a different file then making the change, then copying it back into the previous file.
I'm trying to find an audio effect that works for cleaning up old recordings, I'm having no luck...any suggestions?
    user@mac

Okay, I tried it. You are right. The button just doesn't change to saying "apply to selection" like it does in audio effects. Audio effects works better for me anyways, since I'm focusing on background hiss, and the noise reduction is nothing in comparison to effects. Noise reduction tends to distort the sound. That's where Audition came in handy, it had that adaptive noise reduction that avoided that problem.

  • Audition CC - No more cycle recording?

    Hello there !
In Audition 3.0 I could easily define a certain area of a backing track, then press recording with the CYCLE option, and then the recording starts over and over again automatically in that certain area of the track. So I can record many takes without pressing RECORD again and again. I use this for complicated solos that i play with my guitar.
I miss this feature in Audition CC.
    Can anybody please help?!
Is there a way to do this in C?
The punching in function just starts, and then ends, but it does it just ONE time, not over and over.
    Thank you very much!

You haven't said what the interface is, but has the phantom power got switched off? That would stop it working whilst it still appeared as a legitimate source...

  • Audition CC Apply update to template and apply to existing files

Help! Can't find input anywhere on this!
I've created several podcast episodes, but have a global volume change and effect I need to apply to several files that are assigned to a certain template (affecting 16 episodes).
If I make the change to the template and track, will it make the change across the board on my raw (unprocessed) Audition files ?
Please - can someone address this ASAP?  I know Templates are new to the latest Audition CC version released.

I believe that Templates only apply to opening a brand new session in Audition. I don't think that you can retrospectively apply Template changes to a ready saved session. You can however either apply volume changes and some effects using the Batch Process feature of Audition to adjust already saved files. Alternatively you can add your additional effects/level change into the Effects Rack and save as a preset that you could add your previous sessions and re mix the audio.
