Feature query/request:Home button functionality (triple & quadruple clicks)

Hi all,
I severely lack the ability to bind the triple-click on the home button on my iPhone 3GS to something useful. For me, that would be to access the "add new inbox item" in Omnifocus. For others, it could be opening the voice memos app and starting to record audio. Is it possible to enable this functionality (accessing app specific functionality, with bonus points for doing this when the iPhone is locked) without resorting to jailbreak? Is this functionality something anyone else would find welcome?
Oh, and in the perfect world, a quadruple click would start a recording of audio, inside a new inbox item within Omnifocus. This is an accessibility settings that would make my iPhone and its workflow more accessible to me.

  • Home Button Functions

Before the iOS4 Update, I could press the home button twice to bring up my iTunes.
Now when you push the home button twice (after updating to iOS4) it brings up the multitask bar.
How do I switch my song without opening the iPod app??
btw...can you back up two iphones on one comp?

It would be helpful if Apple were to allow for customization of the home button. The double press for multi-tasking, and triple-press for accessibility are fine, but how about a quadruple-click to lock the phone rather than having to wait for the phone to auto-lock after a minute? How about simply allowing an option for customization of the home button in Settings? That would be very helpful and true to the old Apple concept of user control over the Mac! Customization has always been one of the attractive features of Macs, and the iPhone operating systems are no different.

  • How do I delete the download button which is next to my home button? I keep clicking it when I want home and it is annoying.

How do I delete the download button which is next to my home button?

You can use the Customize feature to move it to a less irritating location. I suggest the Add-on bar if you keep that displayed.
Start customizing with either of these, then drag the arrow to a new location, or into the dialog to remove from all bars:
    * right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Customize
    * tap the Alt key > View menu > Toolbars > Customize
You will notice that some of the combined controls split apart in the customize view. If you put anything between them, they won't be able to recombine. (For example, if you separate stop and reload, or put something between back/forward and the URL box.)

  • IPhone 6 Plus: home button sticking and making clicking noise

    Hello everyone,
I bought an iPhone 6 plus 64GB Space Grey. I bought it about 2 months ago. Day by day the home button start to become noisy and sticky. Everytime I press the home button everyone in the room hear the sound very clear.
I brought it to an Apple Third Party store in my country. but the staff there seem not really care about my issue. They said unless the home button is completely broken. How could I do?
Day by day the sound become louder and louder. I really feel uncomfortable about this. And I just feel that my iPhone is going to be broken soon.
Note: my phone has official warranty from Apple.
    Any Idea? Thanks in advance.

I also have the 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus Space Grey and after two display (includes Home Button) replacments and 1 full device replacement and I end up with this issue. My home button is LOUD and CLICKY every time I press to the point it feels plasticky...I will probably go into the Apple Store and demand a perfect (or at least close to perfect) full device replacement and inspect in front of the Genius to try to pinpoint any issues. If they do not comply, I'll just call Apple Care and set up an Express or Standard Replacement.
However, I do not suggest you do that. Last time I rubbed alcohol on my iPad mini 2's home button, it messed up the software and I got a replacement.
I'll tell y'all how it goes!

  • 10g Feature Query/Request

Is it possible to set the tab size to different amounts for different file types? For instance, I like my Java source code to have a relatively large indentation, as I believe this enhances readability. However, XML files tend to have much deeper nesting, and therefore a large tab size quickly results in having to scroll the document to the right to see the innermost content. Anything nested this deeply in source code is probably bad code and should be refactored, but this happens all the time in UIX, for example, since almost every tag needs an additional 'contents' tag.
I can only find one global tab size setting in the 'Code Editor' properties. If there isn't currently any way to set this size differently for individual file types, please consider this feature for future releases.

  • Why does the HOME button Not act on clicking?

You have to press harder to get action, so why have a misleading Click ?

Usually in this type of switch, the click occurs FROM the contact itself...
In this case, no. Trying to click softly results in about one in five clicks causing an action.  In normal use (like my Mac mouse or other buttons in pressure) results in about half of audible clicks
    resulting in actions.
It's a minor annoyance, but still annoying to hear-feel the click yet still have to do it again

  • Is it possible and legal  to disable home button and the screenshot feature in an ipad app?

I am being asked to develop an iPad app that can't be closed until some actions are done, also it must prevent the use of screenshot feature and the home button. Is this possible? Is this legal? In case of this not being legal what would happen (in legal terms) if I do develop it?

It's impossible to develop an iPad app that can't be closed until some actions are done.  The iPad programmer cannot override what happens when the user presses the 'Home' button.  The 'Home' button will always tell the front application to go to the background, and if that application doesn't cooperate within a reasonable time it will be terminated.
Bear in mind that an iPad is an overgrown iPhone.  It's always possible that someone will phone you up when you're running an app, and the app must release control and let you answer that phonecall.
I suggest you discuss the design philosophy with whoever wants the application, remembering that computers are meant to help us do what we want to do, not boss us about.

  • HT2188 How can I fix the home button on my iPod touch?

I have a 4th generation iPod touch that is about almost 2 years old. I've never dropped it on a hard surface like concrete or hardwood floors, just a few times on my carpet. It's never been scratched, never had water damage or anything like that. It's in pretty good condition, and runs pretty smoothly, except my home button doesn't work!
I know several people with the same iPod who have similar problems - their home button doesn't work. When I'm in an app, like the Music app, and I hit the home button to get back to my home screen, it doesn't work.
I've looked it up on the internet - I've seen several videos on YouTube (like turning the iPod off, entering an original app like Weather or Notes and then holding the lock button down until the "slide to power off" button came up, and then holding the home button down until it went away to 'calibrate' the home button, and locking my iPod and then clicking the lock screen and home button at the same time - which worked for me a few times, but after like a day or two, the button stopped working) and I've also Googled it and heard that rubbing alcohol on a q-tip would clean any gunk out from underneath the home button. I've never tried the alcohol one out of fear that I'd really ruin the button.
I've also read that there might be dust under there or gunk that should be cleaned by a professional...
But my dad says that it's too tight of an area around the button for anything to get lodged under there. I am currently updating the iPod to iO5 or whatever the new update is to see if it makes any difference.
I'm just trying this forum as a last result to see if there is anyone out there with a similar problem that has fixed it themselves to quell the problem permanently. If not, then I suppose I'll be forced to take it to the Apple Store and see if they can fix it.
I did have the 1 year warranty, but alas, I did not start having these problems until recently.

  • Can you disable the home button?

My Ipod will close apps and go to the home screen for no reason.  Can you disable the home button/function to prevent this from happening?

    http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Recalibrate-Unresponsive-iPhone-Home-Button
Step 1: Open a stock iPhone app. e.g. Apples Stocks, Weather, SMS, Email etc.
Step 2: Press and hold the power button until the swipe to power off screen appears.
Step 3: Let go of the iPhone's power button
Step 4: Press and hold the iPhone's home button. Do not let go until the power off screen disappears.
And that's it, your home button is recalibrated and should hopefully now be more responsive.
This seemed to make it better, but not fixed.

  • IOS 8 versus the Home Button

Starting day one using IOS8, I have had issues with the home button.  Whenever I click "once" it pops up the app switcher.  It is random, and frequent and annoying.  After reboot it is "ok", but after use of the phone over a few hours, the apps begin to not close when the home button is clicked.  The problem is progressive in nature and the phone becomes difficult to operate when the only option is to switch apps or scrolls left to the home screen and select an app.
    Phone Info:
    IPhone 5, purchased 2012
Upgraded to IOS 8 on go live day (dont yell at me....)
Have taken all updates and currently on version 8.0.2.
Have taken care of the phone very well, without any functional issues since purchase.
What I have done to "fix" the problem:
    1. Soft-shutdown-reboot normally
Result:  Fixes the problem for a few app openings.  After use for a few hours, the problem occurs again.
    2. Hard-shutdown-reboot
Result: Longer period of time before the issue returns.  After apps are used throughout the day, will eventually become more frequent.
    3. "Reset Trick" = (Open native ios app and hold home button until app crashes)
Result: Small fix time.  Returns within an hour of use.
    4. Set accessibility>home button click speed to slow or slowest
         Result:  No change
    Other symptoms:
    1. Apps are sluggish to open.  Clicking home button does not bring up the lock screen quickly.  Slow to load once issue has begun.
    2. Banners are slow to go away or stick until acted upon.
    3. IOS apps (native and otherwise) are slow to open in comparison to IOS7.
    Possible causes:
    1. Memory Leak of one or more apps
    2. App switching not allowing for graceful memory allocation of apps
    3. Sensitivity of button press set too high.
    4. Other??
    Any other ideas are welcome.
    TIA
    Jennifer

  • HT1688 iPhone 4 home button problem

    Good afternoon,
I have an iPhone 4 and it still in good condition but sometimes, the Home button doesn't respond quickly or doesn't respond at all. What to do?

I seem to have fixed my iPhone 4 home button problems.
    1. Sync phone and back up.
    2. Go back and resync phone but uncheck all the apps you have purchased/downloaded so that your iphone will have no additional apps on it.
    3. Now reset your phone as a NEW PHONE.
    4. When reset as NEW, unplug it and try home button functions. I'll bet they work just fine, like mine did.
    5. Now that you are satisfied you can resync your apps, but be choosey. Re-install only a couple at a time, and test your home button each time. You'll soon find out which of your apps is causing the problem. It's time consuming and irritating, but it certainly works.
So far - no problems with my selected re-installed apps. My home button works fine.
However, I recently purchased several photography apps and an emoticon app and that was when the problems appeared to have started.
So I've been very selective in putting only the apps I want back on ... for now.
    Hope this helps.
I will report back to tell you if this complicated but effective solution has worked for me.

  • Home Button Anomaly when the glass base becomes hot !

    Dear Forum
I have noticed an anomaly when the iPhone4 is placed ontop of a macbook pro side of the hard disk in the sense that after using the MacBook pro for an hour or so, it begins to heat up and as a consequence, heats the glass base of the iPhone4 with dramatic loss of the home button functionality ...
It takes a few minutes to cool down and return to functionality but the iphone4 needs to be closed down and restarted.
I have not used the iphone4 in direct sunlight such as being in a hot environment like on the beach and I am not sure if the same effect can be replicated but it's really alarming that you loose the home button control and you need to reset the phone to be able to use the phone with normal functionality once the iphone4 has cooled down.
Has anyone experienced the same or is it a known issue ?
    Thanks
    Joey

Not at all. I use my iphone 4 outside in the sun with temps over 95 degrees, and it has been working fine.

  • Home button does not respond

I have changed my homepage by going into options and by dragging to the home button. When I click on my "home" button (the little house under the word "bookmarks", nothing happens. It just started doing this recently.

Sounds hardware-related. A restore would confirm it.
