Feature Request: Brush Size/Feather Control Like CS5

CS5 introduced a brilliant way to adjust brush size and feathering on the fly with a couple of spring-loaded keystrokes.  I plugged those into my Wacom pen and while holding the button simple drag left/right to change size and up/down for opacity.  Works brilliantly.  Would love the same functionality in LR4.

Well welcome aboard then.
This forum's primarily focused on the new features and bugs that are in this beta.  Your request is great, but as it may not make the final release, and we wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, might I suggest adding it as a suggestion on the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked?  If you post the link to your request here, others can also vote on your request.  In fact, if you search over there, you may find others with the same idea, so you can add your vote.

  • Rotate canvis unintuitive, hot key limitations, new adjustment layer features? Brush size slider bad

I've been using photoshop for a while, as well as a number of 3D  applications. Speed and efficiency have always been very important, and I  usually customize my software a lot to make it work for me. These are  some of the things photoshop could do better in comparison to the user  interfaces in some 3D programs.
    Rotate canvas unintuitive:
While having a center pivot seems more intuitive at first, it actually  causes me nothing but trouble having to always figure out where the  center is, and then deciding how close i am (which will change speed of  rotation). I would like at least an option to simply drag left and drag  right for clockwise and counterclockwise at a specific speed.
    Hot Key Limitations:
alt R and control R and shift R cannot be assigned to different things. I would prefer it if i could customize all of these.
    new adjustment layer features:
often when painting in photoshop, i create an adjustment layer over all  the layers. If i like how it looks, and want to continue painting, i  have to either turn it off while i work and switch it on at the end  again, flatten the entire painting loosing the layer separations, or  duplicate the adjustment layer and setting it next to each pre-existing  layer and then merging each set of 2 layers(the original + the  duplicated adjustment layer).
It would be really wonderful if the process of duplicating the  adjustment layers and flattening each set of 2 could be automated. a  sort of Flatten to all individually button.
    Brush Size Slider:
Zbrush has a very wonderful brush size change. I never appreciated it  until trying photoshops. (previously to this i used another piece of  hardware with a scroll wheel to change brush size. and still do. why the  heck is the first brush size jump 10 units!?! simply a linear brush  size change would have been awesome. although including a brush size  slider is already pretty awesome
These things have been bothering me for a long time, and i always assume  these problems that are obvious to me are probably obvious to everybody  else and therefore will be fixed without my small intervention, but i  figure this cant hurt. Thanks for all the hard work and the wonderful  product!

This is a poorly explained reason about why is so important having a loupe in Photoshop. I've not also, used the best example, but I will. This belongs to the ADDITIONAL FEATURES: Loupe/Magnificator View:. Also, I will try to make my english clrearer, but here it goes:

  • Bigger brush sizes in Adobe Flash CS5.5

So what my problem is with Adobe Flash CS5.5 is that it only goes up to a certain brush size. I want an even bigger brush sizes. I wish there was an option where you could pick a number and thats how big your brush size would go up to. But it only gives you a limited amount of options. Is there ANY way AT ALL for me to get a lot bigger and/or smaller brush sizes? Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem here. I'm trying to do a stick animation on cs6, but to be more precise, i need to actually draw with a larger brush size. I suggest using the pen tool with the smooth option on. You can't see exactly where the stroke will be, but its better than nothing, and it more or less acts like the brush anyway.

  • Feature Request - Enable z-index control

I am surprised that such a simple feature like z-index control is not natively available in Edge Animate.
Just think of a simple animation of some cards overlapping each other and you want to bring one of the cards in front when hovering.
So please add this feature as a keyframe able value on the panel or at least as an action.
    THX

    THX,
yes I do know how to do this with css, but than I have to switch to
    scripting insted of using keyframes.

  • Feature request: Support for Multiple Libraries (like in iMovie)

From the threads, I can tell this topic was raised by many for many years. I would like to propose support for multiple iPhoto libraries -- or more specifically, the ability to distribute media across different storage devices.
There is a huge gap between my spacially limited MBP 250 GB SSD and my external 4 TB HDD. I am aware that I can juggle two separate libraries in iPhoto but it's just not practical and the moving of media between the libraries is not a simple drag and drop effort but involves exporting and importing with me having to clean up on one side or the other.
iMovie has had support for several libraries for a long time presumably because the sheer size of media in the video realm gave the iMovie team little choice.
I can't be the only one having this itch, right?

Again, you need to clarify your terms
Aperture can move master photos files around. With Aperture you can write additional metadata to the original file.
You don't need multiple libraries to thematically arrange photos, though. A simple keywordign system will do that.
So in Aperture I don't have to restart into different libraries?
You can have all your photos in a sinble library with the master files stored off-disk easily. You can relocate them from disk to disk too. However, if you;re doing presentations that is probably not necessary if you generate good quality previews. I'd ask about these things on the Aperture forum for more.

  • EPub feature request: image size relative to margins

In the epub export dialog, we're given the option of exporting images
"relative to page". Meaning (as far as I can tell) that if, in the
layout, the image is 20% away from the left edge and 20% away from the
right edge of the page, then in the ePub it will also be 20% away from
the left edge of the viewing area, and 20% from the right edge.
I think it's important to have an additional option: "relative to margin".
The fact is that in book design, margins play a much more important role
than in ePubs, where viewing area is at a premium. In much good book
design you will find that an image extends only to the margins of the
text area and not beyond (unless of course it's a full-bleed image,
etc.) In ePubs, though, the effective text area is normally the edge of
the device screen (minus a few pixels, perhaps). Thus the edge of the
ePub viewing area is essentially analogous to the text-area margins of
the printed page -- much more so than to the edge of the printed page.
So I, as a book designer, would want an option that says that whenever
an image extends all the way to the text-area margins, it should fill
    the ePub screen.
I'm now working on a converting a printed layout to ePub. The images
extend in most cases only to the text-area margins, and the margins
themselves are fairly generous in the printed edition, and this means
that when the images are exported to ePub, they are taking up far too
little screen area, since the only option is to calculate their size as
a percentage of the entire page area ("relative to page").
The workaround is to go through the book enlarging the images so that
they extend to the page edges rather than to the text area margins and
then exporting. But this book has many images.
This superfluous extra effort could be avoided if the ePub export dialog
simply gave the option to export images "relative to margins."
    Hope that makes sense!
    Thanks for reading,
    Ariel

Not a bad idea, though really what would be even better is if other 3rd parties would embrace the PSB format so we could just use PSB for everything and leave PSD behind.  There's almost no difference in size.  Here's the same file saved in both formats:
    C:\TEMP>dir egb.ps*
    Volume in drive C is C - NoelC4 SSD
    Volume Serial Number is 00ED-C11E
    Directory of C:\TEMP
    06/30/2012  01:04 PM         1,411,420 EGB.psb
    06/30/2012  12:14 AM         1,397,248 EGB.psd
In my case, I don't send PSDs to anyone, they just represent archives of my master work, and I will always have a modern version of Photoshop to read them with.  So if I could I would just use PSB for all master files.  Problem is, two 3rd party tools I like to use don't currently handle it:
    IrfanView
    FastPictureViewer Codec Pack
Probably some day in the future they'll work.  I encourage you to write to the people whose tools you'd like to see be able to read PSB to implement support.

  • Help regarding brushes, sizes and such like...

    Hi...
Am trying to create some art for some large posters...
    I. Brushes:
    1. Have created several brushes... apply them along a path... not possible to change the colour of fill or stroke... Have to Expand Appearance and the fills become a problem. So what does one do? Set colour in the master and keep saving the brushes as brush-red, brush-green, etc.?
    2. Gather Brushes are not vector...? To manipulate them – distort, warp, etc., – one has to first Expand Appearance. Question: are they still vector at that stage?
    II. Pen tool:
Find it very irritaing that every time one wants to creat an anchor point one has to revert to the Anchor point tool... and even then, clicking doesn't seem to be enough. One has to actually drag a wee bit before the anchor point gets converted. Must be a short cut or simplified workaround that i'm missing??
    III. Sizes:
227 inches; Seems to be the max width... crazy... surely it should depend on total size? Meaning w x h and the raster settngs...
    Cheers!

I presume you use the Convert Anchor Point Tool (flyout from the Pen Tool) in b.
It may be easier to answer if you show what you wish to obtain: Illy has no way of knowing how you want the wave curved unless you tell her. If you just want a rounding (of your choice) at the Anchor Points of otherwise straight segments, you may use Effect>Stylize>Round Corners, otherwise you have to establish the curving somehow.
Wouldn't it be so much easier to have the anchor point convert on the click of the convert tool... or even double click... or double click of the direct select tool (white arrow) or even have a right click fly out option to convert? Or am i missing something?
2/ Size. Yes, can draw to a suitable scale... but then how / what / who increases it to actual scale at time of printing?
This is a recurring issue. Usually the printer.
    Hi Jacob...
Yes, i meant the Convert Anchor Point Tool (CAPT)... And i'm talking generally... you know.... say you want to create a wavy line... one generally clicks a few points and then goes back to get the waviness just right... that's what i mean... the whole thing seems a bit cumbersome... go back, use (CAPT), then too one has to drag a bit.. then use the Direct Selection Tool for actually getting down to business... so much easier if a double click by the DST or the a single click by the CAPT converted the anchor point... even a right click fly out with an option... FWIW. Was just hoping there was a short cut key or something which, combined with the click of some tool, converted the anchor point.
Regarding size... if you take an ai file to the printer how does he increase it (the scale)?

  • Brush sizes off in PS CS5 Extended

This is mainly for my 1px brush. Whenever I draw something with it and compare it to other things drawn with a 1px brush, mine is quite large in comparison. Is there any way I can get it smaller?

Thank you! I will try that.

  • To devs - feature request: finer channel output control

dunno how easy it would be to implement such a thing but it would be awesome if channel output was a little more flexible
using ffdshow I downmix multitrack audio to pretty much whatever, and I use 4 channels (L,C,R,LFE) which sound waaay better than stereo
5.'s only an option for me when i'm sat directly in front of my pc, which i can't be arsed to do most of the time
being able to to do something similar with games would be pretty cool, and a nice little niche feature

I would use the OS X feedback page.

There is no hack to do this.

  • Why is Liquify Brush Size so Out of Proportion?

When I choose the Liquify option from the Filter menu, the Liquify tool opens and I have access to the custom set of Liquify tools. Unlike almost any other tool where you select a brush size, the Liquify tool requires you to modify the position of a slider rather than selecting the brush size dynamically by right-clicking.
The problem is that the brush size selector control goes from 0 to 15,000px diameter. In order to make effective use of a 15,000 pixel liquify push tool, you'd have to have a really large image. Perhaps there is a case where someone at some time used a 15,000 px diameter nudge brush in the Liquify tool, but in my nearly 20 years of using Photoshop, I have never come across the need for a brush that large.
Regardless, because the selector uses a linear scale, it is really difficult to select a small brush size (say less than 100px) without manually incrementing the slider.
I would really like to see Adobe standardize the tool size/preset selector so that it is always available via the context menu (or equivalent) and that an option exists to enable relative slider values or percentage slider values in incremental selectors like brush size. Percentages could be setup where 100% was the largest side of the current image and then brush sizes could be selected via percentage of your image (of course converting to pixels, but the scale would be percentage-based). Even an exponential scale that favored the smaller values would be helpful. Or perhaps, movable caps that would allow you to set your own Max and Min values....that would rock.
Are there are any plugins that solve this problem? Anybody have any advice on how I might be able to select more appropriately scaled brushes in the Liquify tool when I am working with images where a 15,000 pixel brush head is unreasonable.
Any input would be greatl appreciated.

    R_Kelly, thanks for the reply.
The problem isn't that there aren't enough ways to change the size fo the cursor, it's the relative scale of the cursor. I have two 37" Dell Ultra monitors on my desktop and to use the Alt-Right click method of resizing the brush (even on a 7500 pixel wide document at 300 dpi), I have to drag from one side of my dual monitor setup across 60 inches (whatever the horizontal width of a 37" monitor x2) about 50 times to get the brush to a size that I can actually see the outline of it.
Then, once I can see the outline of the Nudge Tool (in the Liquify tools), if I drag about 3 pixels, the visible outline of the brush wildly jumps from full-screen to tiny. It's because the scale of the brush size selector is a mess. 95% of the sizes in the selector are bigger than the piece that I am working on. Does that make sense? Why would you be able to select a tool size bigger than your document? Furthermore why would you want 95% of the available tool sizes to be unusable? It doesn't make any sense at all.
Thanks for the short reminder on brush size manipulation in general. I was surprised to see it work in the Liquify tool--though it didn't solve the issue.
    Best wishes,
    Jase

  • Got Feature Requests?

    Hi All,
We are getting ready to wrap up Spry 1.6 in the next couple
weeks. As we end a release cycle, we start to redirect cycles to
    thinking about the future.
So while the feature set for 1.6 is baked, I wanted to ask
our aspiring community for feature requests.
What would you like to see in a future version of Spry?
    Got widgets?
    Must-have data features?
    Enhancements?
    Tutorials or documentation? Samples?
If someone has already listed something that you want, vote
for it. It can only help.
Let us know what you want for Spry and keep your eyes open
    for 1.6 in early Oct.
    Thanks,

  • Brush Size Slider?

Is it possible to create a brush size slider, just like the one in the brush preset panel? If not in configurator in another script program perhaps?

Not in Configurator I believe but others are welcome to correct me if this is wrong.

  • Premiere Pro Feature Request forum on Reddit - Useful?

    Hello all,
I have no idea if this will be valuable to the community, but I haven't been able to find a forum thread focused exclusively on Premiere Pro feature requests, so I made a subreddit doing just that.
I'm a new user of Premiere Pro. Switched from FCP 7 which I was using exclusively for years professionally.
In my daily work I often discover simple and useful things that I utilized all the time in FCP are just not possible in Premiere Pro. I like Premiere, but there are many little things that I wish it did better.
Every time I've submitted feature requests to Adobe, they feel like a drop in the bucket.
I hope with this subreddit, we can maybe band together and be vocal about the things we really want and get noticed in the process. You can find the subreddit here:
    http://www.reddit.com/r/Premiere_Pro_Requests/

a forum thread focused exclusively on Premiere Pro feature requests
These can be discussed among users in any thread you like, preferably a different thread for each request or topic, but to make sure Adobe sees it, you have only one avenue.

  • Increase Brush size limit.

Camera sensor sizes are growing and now we have to deal with 7000+ pixel images, but the brush size doesn't go over 2500pix which makes it hard to produce smooth results when dealing with large areas. Easy to implement I guess.

i was just looking for the solution to this issue.... and came to this thread, i think there isnt any solution to it yet.
i hope Adobe will increase the brush size limit to like ..... 5000px? or 10k px would be great for working on large banners or posters.

  • Using control option to adjust brush size and feather

I saw this cool shortcut for adjusting brush size and feather by holding control option and then dragging left right or up down
to adjust the brush but in the video when he clicked and dragged to adjust the brush displayed red while being adjusted and
I can't seem to get the red rubylith to display so I can't see the brush feathering when adjusted.

And whether that works (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > GPU Settings) depends on your graphic display card (and its driver).
