Feature request: keyword search like Google Toolbar

One of the features (well, the ONLY feature) that keeps me from using Safari as my default browser is a feature I get through Google's Toolbar.
After you type in keywords for a search in Google's toolbar. You can click on the word (in the right area) and it will automatically find the next occurrence of that word on the page. (You can alternatively clock on the "highlighter" icon and it will highlight any words in your search). You can find any individual word.
Safari's feature to do this, as far as I can tell, is far less useful. After you type in some keywords. You can click on the magnifying glass and at the bottom, it has the ability to search for the keyword OR phrase, depending on how you search.
Google's Toolbar feature is amazingly productive -- and useful. I can't figure out why none of the browsers have picked up on this feature.
(If someone knows a way to do this with Safari, I'd appreciate it).

As for this capability, there's no reason why a browser couldn't support this feature -- doesn't matter that Google did it in a toolbar. And, in fact, if you click on the magnifying glass in the search box, it does allow you to search within the current page for what you searched for (though it's limited only to the "phrase"). It's at the bottom... You have to have words in the search box to see this.
I'll make the suggestion directly to Apple.
To anyone who hasn't used this capability -- it's really powerful. That said, you need the Google Toolbar which is only supported on Firefox, not Safari (on the Mac platform).

Why are my installed extentions on FF 5.01 suddenly not showing up in the add-ons window tab (to change preferences), even though the extentions (like Google toolbar and Awesome Screenshot) are visible on the FF interface?

My Google toolbar was working fine earlier this morning. A few hours later, the search window stopped opening new tabs. I did some snooping and discovered that none of my extension add-ons were showing up in the add-ons tab. However, the appearance and plug-ins are still listed. When I click on the Extensions tab there is just a small box that says "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed." However, my Google toolbar, Add Blocker, and Awesome Screenshot etc. is still visible in the FF interface. When I try to uninstall the Google toolbar using the options button on the toolbar itself, nothing happens. What's up?

Afterwords there were some changes in Add-ons that were enabled/disabled that then had to be straightened out.
I disabled Test Pilot which was in the process of testing thinking that it might have had something to do with the problem. I have not updated to the latest version of 5.0 because one favorite Add-on [Firegestures] is supposed to be incompatible.

Feature Request: Provide search functionality to procedures, functions and keywords in code

Have been using SQL Server since 1998, and been wondering why MS cant better the GUI , in terms of ease of use, as its done in Visual Studio and other such tools, though there are some enhancements like multiple window etc, would expect few more for easy
working for developers.
1) A search text box, in the SSMS interface, for searching stored procedures, functions, tables etc would be very useful, instead of expanding the entire tree and going through a long list to find your procedure or table, especially when you have a large
list of them.
2) Also a code search tool, like to find a keyword in the entire stored procedures, triggers and functions would be useful, currently we had to generate whole script and then find the keyword, and this is cumbersome, as you have to move back and forth to
find which stored procedure or function has that keyword etc.

Feature Request: Sort/Search by TIME

I have made this request before, here's a second effort.
It would be useful to be able to search files and to create Smart Collections based on TIME.
Travel photography
Wedding photography
Event photography and
Sports photography
would all benefit from being able to create Smart Collections based on Capture Time.
Example: during a wedding the ceremony takes place between: 1pm and 2pm, the reception, from 2pm-4pm. A search by time will help, photographers find the images which represent each time-slice of an event.
Sporting Events: ie. multi-venue/team event: the US hockey team plays from 9am-11am, the women's volleyball team plays from 11;30am-1pm, etc.
I've been requesting this feature since version 2. It's time.

I concur with John - AnyFilter is a great way to find photos based on any criteria existing in Lightroom .
That said, another option is to use the Metadata Extensions plugin (it's free, and I wrote it), which includes 'Hour of Day' item for library filters or smart collections.
Which should you prefer?
* AnyFilter is faster for one-time/on-demand queries, and more powerful in general, but relies on a proprietary plugin dialog box for it's human interface.
* Metadata Extensions takes longer for a one-time initialization of the metadata in Lightroom, but then allows you to use "standard" (built-in) Lr search & filter mechanisms afterward.
So, if you frequently want to filter or smart-collect based on time (hour) of day, and/or you don't use AnyFilter often, then you might find Metadata Extension is most convenient.
If however, you use AnyFilter frequently enough that you've become accustomed to it's UI, and/or you don't filter/smart-collect on time-of-day that often anyway, AnyFilter may be preferable.
Which do I use?

PS - another option is Jeffrey Friedl's DataExplorer plugin. I don't have enough experience with it to comment, but it does support hour-of-day.

Feature request: Keyword count

I would like to be able to search and create smart collections using the number of keywords as criteria. The default smart collection titled "Without Keywords" is cute, but it doesn't help me at all. As soon as I add one keyword, the image goes away! I would like to go further than that. I would like to, for example, find all images that have a rating greater than or equal to 3 stars, and have less than or equal to 20 keywords. This would be a big help for making sure that my entire catalogue is properly keyworded.

The latest version of the Any Filter plugin lets you test the number of keywords (or collections or locations shown or ...). See the "Less than 3 explicit keywords" example filter.

Search Like Google

I want to include the search as a Google Search in my portal tool Area.
Instead of searching in Specified Path Folders(Repositories in KM Folder), i want to search all over the World.
is there any code to include the Google Search?

Feature request: option to deactivate builtin screen when monitor connected

This is a feature request for laptops, or rather for the Air specifically. To see why it might be a good thing, see this thread:

I'd like a checkbox in the display preferences to deactivate the internal monitor when an external monitor is plugged in. This would save load on the Air's GPU and reduce heat while using an external monitor.
Users of the regular Macbook might want this as well.

Apple doesn't monitor the forum for feature requests and the like. It's just for user-to-user help.
Also note that this feature already exists: all Mac laptops sold in the past few years, including the MacBook Air, can be run with only an external monitor. It's called closed-lid mode.

If you then want to open the lid to increase cooling, you can. Once the external display is attached, the internal display does not come on automatically when you open it.

Default CSS classes (feature request)

Hi, there is one feature request I would like to ask for,
When working with templates/themes. The default template is CSS based on classes. Could it be possible to have default classes defined?
It's just that when working with PL/SQL Regions and HTP/HTF packages, the output is very far from the theme default look. Which leads to alot of going into theme definitions, copying the CLASS="tXXxxxx" string and using it in the code.
But if default HTML tags would be overloaded (H1,H2... [table], TH, TD TR.. and so on. It would make the owa code much prettier right out of the box.

That is not going to happen for most themes.
What your asking is for us to arbitrarily say what a certain tag is going to look like lets take <th> for instance, but how and where you or me might use a <th> might be totally different from how someone else use's a <th>
Someone might be depending on having the default styles applied and would just have to reoverride the style. We try to be very specific with how classes are applied so as to give people the most options and control over the final look and feel.

The Google Toolbar has nothing to do with Mozilla. Mozilla is not and never was responsible in any way for the Google Toolbar.
The Google Toolbar was created by Google for other browsers. It was never added to their own Google Chrome browser, and they have indicated that they have dropped support for it in Firefox. The only browser they were really concerned with keeping it in was IE. They did however assert that it was not needed in Firefox because there were already features in Firefox -- those "features" include other extensions which are not really Mozilla either. But the Google Toolbar is something you got from Google. I think it is doubtful that it would have ever passed Mozilla testing to be included at mozilla.addons (AMO) or that Google would have provided Mozilla with the source for verifications.
Take a look at what features you use in the Google Toolbar and check out your usage to what is available to you based on what Google has mentioned and based on what some Firefox users have noted in the following article:

For what it's worth Firefox 8.0 came out today (Tue Nov 8th, 2011), I updated from Help > About Firefox at what would be 11:55 AM Pacific time (7:55 PM London). It would be rolled out to different areas at different time. The release notes did not come up, which is probably good because they mess up so many users when they do come up.

Feature Request: "Search in Google" should open new tab

Hi,
This is a request for the Safari Dev team.
Highlighting a text and right-clicking on it shows the "Search in Google" option which is VERY convenient. Currently, clicking "Search in Google" takes you to the results page of whatever you wanted google to search. That, naturally, means that I have to leave the page I'm viewing. What I'm suggesting is having the "Search in Google" option open a tab in the background and I can view it later.

I'm not on a Mac to test at present, but what happens when you hold down the command key and right-click on the text? Opening links with the cmd key held down opens them in a new tab so maybe it will do the same thing for this feature.

In Firefox Google Toolbar, when I click "Search" the webpage I'm on closes and I go to the new browser window . Can I keep the webpage I'm on and have the search page open to a new browser window?

When I click "Search" in the Firefox Google Toolbar it closes (it makes me leave) the web page I'm already on. I want to have the page I'm on and the new page available when I click "Search." Is this possible? Can I at least get a tab for the new page? thanks

LR4 Feature Request regarding Mouseover on Keyword tag

Suggestion: Mouseover on the Keyword tag should identify the keywords - Rather than saying "This photo has keywords", why not display the keywords, something like: Keywords: Family, Memorial Day, 2010

Custom Toolbar Buttons - built from my SQL - feature request

I would like to request a feature to be added to SQL Developer. I'm on EA, v 4.0.0.12. I would like to be able to create edit and add custom toolbar buttons.
I do have some of my SQL saved as Snippets. As long as I want to keep the Snippets pane open, I can create and edit snipped categories, add snippets to custom categories, and drag'n'drop a snippet from the snippet pane onto a SQL Worksheet (fills in with the SQL). This all works, although giving up "canvas workspace" for the snippets pane is a bit of an expense.
It would be cool to be able to create, edit and place and remove custom buttons on the Toolbar with SQL I like to (re)use often.

I found the Exchange and filed a request there.
For anyone wanting the URL for the Exchange feature requests, I used this:
