Feature Request:   Preset Preview on Second Monitor

Currently, when you have monitor 2 set on "Loupe" mode and it is set for a "Live" view, and then scroll across the filmstrip on monitor 1, you can see the images change on the second monitor.
I would like to have the ability to set monitor 2 on "Loupe" mode with a "Preset" view, so you can see the effects a preset will have in the larger view, as you scroll over the presets you have created on monitor 1.
The ability to see what effects a preset will have on an image is a great tool. The only issue I have with it in its current condition is the size of the preview window. IMHO, being able to see how the image would be effected full-screen before having to actually apply a preset would take this feature to another level.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Preset Preview on Second Monitor

I would like to take this opportunity to submit a feature request that would make it possible to preview how a preset would look like on a second monitor. As it currently stands you can preview the effect in the small image above the preset list. Unfortunately it can be difficult to judge the effect a preset will have on the image because of the relatively small image your previewing it on.
It would be sooo nice to be able to see the preview on a second monitor, and will cut down on the number of times a preset is applied and then removed because I didn't like how it looked when seen on the larger image.
BTW, thanks for making it possible in LR3 to filter and/or create smart folders based on Focal Length. It is greatly appreciated!

  • AE CC 2014 mercury preview on second monitor suddenly lost

    Hi
First mercury preview was working fine on my second system monitor and through blackmagic (beside the lack of scaling the image through BM)-
Then because AE suddenly had a problem with initialising Media Core I un-installed AE and re-installed again.
Now I don't have the mercury preview on my second monitor anymore! (I need it because only this way I can monitor scope format)
The preview of standard HD works fine through Blackmagic instead!
Anyone knows how to solve this (urgent)
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Uli

    Hi Tim
Thanks for getting back to me about this issue.
Actually this is a minor problem, or none at all.
What is a bit frustrating that Blackmagic won't do any scaling. Aja does a pretty niche job.
This is mentioned in the AE_video_preview document as well.
The point is that it is possible because Davinci Resolve does it with the same card.
    Best regards,
    Uli

  • Slow preview on second monitor

    Hello
I'm using two monitors with LR5, and the second monitor is the preview screen.
I find the preview on the second monitor to be painfully slow in both the Library and Develop modules:
    1) If I am the Develop module, and I move to the next photo, and zoom the preview to 100% (or if it is already at 100%), it take a minute, literally, for the preview to display correctly.
    2) In the Develop module, sometimes the display does not update correctly at all. If I adjust a slider on the Details tab, however slightly, the preview then updates almost immediately.
    3) In the Library module, if I switch the main window to single photo view, and view 100%, then, as I browse the photos, the main window updates very quickly, but the preview window lags behind.
I'm working with Fuji X-Trans RAF files, and this maybe this si the issue? JPGs update almost immediately in the preview window in both modules.
Does anyone have a similar experience?
    Mike

    Sounds like this problem:

  • Video preview through second monitor

I'm running PPro CS5 on a mid 2010 Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card.  The card can feed up to 3 monitors - of which I have two connected right now.  In Encore I can choose to preview from either monitor, but in PPro I seem to get only two options - 'None' and 'DV'. In CS3 (on a PC) I used to be to enable this with the Desktop setting.
How please do I set things up to find my second monitor?  I have updated my Mac's software (which should pick up the latest approved graphics drivers), so I don't think it's an ATI problem.
    Thanks very much
    Julian

Here you go Jim.  A little cramped for me having the main Premiere interface on one screen, but it will do for now.  If I can get the third screen running, I wn't really need my MX02 Mini - which doesn't yet work properly on the Mac anyway...
Good luck with making your system work this way.  Let me know if I can help further.

  • Previewing with second monitor

all I want to do is burn video to dvd. I want to make sure that the media is within the title action safe area. I made a video for my girl and it looked fine in the safe area on my lcd monitor but when I played in on my HD tv it was beyond the safe area. I've been looking at Blackmagic Intensity Pro
HDMI Capture Card and DeckLink SDI but am at a loss when it comes to the second monitor.
    my questions are:
what would be the most budget minded setup to do this?
can I hook up a regular hd tv in order to preview?
using after effects for the edits

  • Feature Request: support previews for png files

    hello,
i like to see previews supported for png files.  This is a common file type and should be supported  Especially since it is one of the options supported for export to creative cloud from photoshop touch.  It would make a lot more sense.
    Thanks.

  • How do you move Mail, Preview to second monitor?

This is probably a dumb question... I have a second monitor connected to my Macbook Pro. I can move Chrome and other programs to second monitor by dragging them there. I'm unable to drag Mail, Preview to the second monitor.....
    What am I doing wrong?

    Do you mean ---
To a second monitor, or to a third, "grade" monitor?
How "most" people are doing it... among the now 1.4 million licensees of FCP, I can't really comment. I don't think there are that many grade monitors in use, fewer users of even external monitors. For two-monitor setups, the use of a 2xDVI GPU is the way to go, but the video is NOT conditioned for broadcast display, at least up to this version, and not likely to change until Snow Leopard, when the 1.8/2.2 issue is rumoured to be addressed.
The preferred method that was envisioned by the engineering team was to use an AJA or Blackmagic AV-SDI interface, so that all the up/down/cross gamma and colourspace and framerate and resolution issues could be taken care of by somebody else.
There is a landslide of opposition to this because "proper monitors and video interfaces are too expensive". So "many" people gaff-tape and Rube-Goldberg "less expensive" solutions using computer graphics displays. They run into a lot of problems, not restricted to, for examples, an inappropriate contrast ratio, non-standard spectral response, and incompatible third-party color profiling which completely garbles the output.
It is an extremely complex problem. At the moment only SDI is supported, FireWire will likely never happen as it doesn't have the bandwidth to be useful.

  • Second monitor request for lr3

The ability to uses brushes on the second monitor would be very useful
    Thanks

The image on the second monitor is only for preview purposes and as such there is virtually no chance of local adjustment tools support.
BTW: This forum area is intended for the shipping product (i.e. Lr versions 1.0 through 2.x). If you have an issue or feature request associated with the Lr3 beta then I recommend that you raise it on the forum provided for the purpose http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/lightroom3/

  • How do I get photos to preview in a second monitor on Bridge CC?

This question must have been asked here before but I wasn't able to find the answer. Sorry if this is a repeat question...
How do I get photos to preview in a second monitor on Bridge CC? It's harder to find the answer this than I expected it to be.
    Thanks.
    Windows 7, i7, Nvidia Quadro 4000

Thanks, Curt. I wondered if that was it.
In other CC applications I can detatch the tab and drag it over. I guess it's not that bad to do the stretch, though.
    Thanks again.

  • Feature request: option to deactivate builtin screen when monitor connected

This is a feature request for laptops, or rather for the Air specifically. To see why it might be a good thing, see this thread:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=449778
I'd like a checkbox in the display preferences to deactivate the internal monitor when an external monitor is plugged in. This would save load on the Air's GPU and reduce heat while using an external monitor.
Users of the regular Macbook might want this as well.

Apple doesn't monitor the forum for feature requests and the like. It's just for user-to-user help.
Also note that this feature already exists: all Mac laptops sold in the past few years, including the MacBook Air, can be run with only an external monitor. It's called closed-lid mode.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307315
If you then want to open the lid to increase cooling, you can. Once the external display is attached, the internal display does not come on automatically when you open it.

  • Preview highlight and shadow clipping mask in second monitor

Hi, I'm new in the forum and just starting with the new LR3. I have a question about to preview highlight and shadow clipping in the second monitor, becouse I can't check the mask clipping in my second monitor as in the LR2... Is there a possibility to change it to preview the mask in the second monitor?
    Thanks and regards
    Daniel

Yeah, thanks.... but I mean that when you are in develop mode and you try to see the highlight or black clipping mask, red or blue, now in LR3 only appears in the main monitor, not in the second monitor as well like in LR2... Maybe I'm not explaining very well the difference...

  • Feature request: Monitor, manage IE - CPU usage

I was wondering if this is the right place to make a feature request. As it happens when surfing with IE, having many tabs open, pretty quickly CPU usage can reach 100% even on multi core system. Presumably some website manage to run out-of-control scripts
    in the background.
The real problem is now that I cannot tell which tabs produces which CPU load. All that task manager shows is the IE process with the tabs and the overall CPU usage for the process.
Regarding monitoring it would help to identify the tabs (website) which cause the heavy load. This could be added to task manager.
Further, to manage the tabs it should be possible to either start each tab in its own process
or perhaps better, have the ability to put unused tabs in 'hibernation' causing all scripts to pause there.

    Hi,
you can post 'feature' requests to the IETeam at
    http://connect.microsoft.com/ie
Task Manager in current windows versions lists all IE Tab processes.... Sort the process list by cpu usage to identify hungry tabs.
Typically high cpu usage is caused by
Web browser addons, incorrect browser settings (use gpu instead of hardware rendering) and flash or poorly designed websites or missing updates to your windows or third-party software. You may like to try running your browser in noAddons mode to see if that
makes a difference in cpu usage.... and also ensuring that you have enabled Windows Updates and that your computer has the latest updates from MS, Adobe etc.
MS has no control over what addons a user has or installs on their machines.
Post consumer questions about IE or windows to
http://answers.microsoft.com (Help>Online Support menu). Include with your questions the full links to any websites that you are having issues with....
Always... the first step in troubleshooting web browser issues is to test in no addons mode.

  • Second monitor canvas preview

I have a Sony TV that has HDMI in and I would like to use this as a preview monitor. Can I just run a DVI/HDMI cable from the tower to the tv? Or is there another way?

but you can use a dvi-hdmi cabel to use the TV as second monitor
All this does is create a second computer desktop hanging off of the computer graphics card, is this what the OP wants?

  • Feature request: Support for more than 2 monitors

I currently use an external monitor for my critical editing/evaluation as my iMac display doesn't reproduce reds very well. I understand newer iMacs can support 2 external displays, obviously desktop machines can support as many displays as there are open slots for video cards.
While editing a photo shot in portrait on a monitor set for landscape is not a problem, it would <really> be cool to have two external color-accurate monitors for developing/loupe views, one oriented in portrait, one in landscape, with the third (iMac in this case) showing the develop controls. Even if the two external monitors showed the same image, one would always be fullscreen in the correct orientation.
MacOS and Windows both give the user control over all the displays connected to a given system, so driving a portrait and a landscape monitor simultaneously shouldn't be a problem from an OS/hardware standpoint.
Is this something that can be rolled into LR4?
    Respectfully,
    Andre

I use 3 or 4 monitors too, so that's one I'd like to see too.  We wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, so might I suggest adding the request to the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked?  If you post the link to your request here, others can also vote on your request.
