Setting control bar to resume auto-play (Captivate 6)

Hi,
I am currently using Captivate 6 to create an eLearning course. We have decided to display the bottom control bar to allow flexibility for the student to move between screens in each lesson. Currently if the student uses the progress arrow in the control bar to move forward or backward the lesson pauses and the user has to press the Play button to resume the lesson.
Does anyone know of a setting within Captivate or whether it is possible to program the control bar so that it will resume auto-play mode whenever the student uses the progress bar to move back and forth within a lesson?

I think you are talking about scrubbing the progress bar? I don't know about a way to achieve AutoPlay. Moreover, if your course is not linear, it is not a good idea to give free navigation that way at all. Same for the buttons on the normal playbars. I almost never use it for that reason. Another way to allow free navigation is the TOC (which you can have in overlay so that it can be hidden/shown by the user). In the TOC it is easier to show chapters, and if you add labels to the slides, at least user will know where he is going to.

Firefox should be able to resume an unfinished download, if the server that delivered the download supports resume. In the download window, right-click that partial file and see if the '''Resume''' menu item is available.

PC coding for auto-play after restart

Here’s the set up...
I just finished authoring a DVD and in order to get the ROM features of the DVD to work – PCs have to install DVD@ccess on them. I found a free code online that runs a little slideshow and auto-installs the program and then the user has to restart the computer.
The problem is that our client wants the DVD player to auto-open after the restart.
We are looking for a programer to do this code alteration for us within the this coming week.

Feature Request: Adobe, please make After effects CC keyboard shortcuts customizable as in Premiere

I'm making this feature requests because I've tried the only two known methods for customizing keyboard shortcuts in After Affects and neither of these work in CC:
• 2008 video tutorial on Creative Cow Forum for modifying the After Effects Keyboard shortcuts text file - unfortunately this doesn't work in AE CC
• a youtube tutorial about how to install KeyedUp for After Effects - tried this but also not able to change any shortcuts in AE CC
One of the things I love most about Premiere Pro CC is how many keyboard shortcuts you can customize. You can even do this in Adobe Audition.
So why not in After Effects?
Adobe please bring this feature to the next update of After Effects CC.

Essentially after following the tutorial video very carefully, modifying the shortcuts, making sure there are no traces of other instances of the old shortcut, I save the file then when I reopen AE, I get this window:
Then when I check the folder housing the shortcuts text file I see that my modified shortcut text file simply got renamed "old" at the end of the line:
See second line in window "Shortcuts.txt.old" -> that's the file I modified. It looks like AE simply spawned a new default shortcuts file titled "...Shortcuts.txt"

Feature Request: vpn auto-connection on WiFi-connect

Hello,
since a short time I use my iPod touch with firmware V2.2 in combination with a commercial vpn-provider.
My problem now is that the iPod doesn't automatically connect to the vpn server when it establishes a wifi-connection. But as soon as the wifi-connection has been established it automatically retrives new mails and the mail retrieval will be done using a non-secure internet connection.
This is a big security issue and I can't find a solution for it using the current firmware.
I hope that it will be considered within a following firmware release.

DMC250 Feature request: "Resume at Power-on"

I have recently purchased a KWHA400.
We use the set in the kitchen to listen to our music collection in the weekend.
In the morning we just want to switch on the unit and get our local radio station.
The unit takes a while to wake up, and requires extra interaction to select the station which is stored as a favorite.
My wish is to just wake up the unit and immediately let it start playing the internet radio station that it is usually tuned to.
One way to do this would be to have an option in the firmware : "Resume at Power on".
Another way would be to assign a favorite as startup link.
The unit could also buffer the remote's request so that the favorite can be selected as soon as the unit is switched on.
My questions are:
Is there any chance of one of these features appearing in a future firmware release?
Does anybody have an alternative solution that does not require a firmware update?
Assuming Cisco no longer improves the firmware, is there any other way/community to make changes like this?

Let me clarify what it means. Currently on the internet, all fonts rendered are limited to what is installed on the user's machine. So for example, if I wanted to display Wingdings on my website, the viewer of the website's computer will have to have Wingdings installed on their machines. If go around the web, you will notice that most websites have pretty much the same fonts: Arial, Trebuchet MS, Courier New, Times New Roman, Verdana, Georgia, etc. These are because the assumption is made that these are installed on most machines. These come default with Mac OS X, Windows, and equivalents exist for Linux. However, this becomes a huge limitation for designers, because in order to use a custom font, they have to turn it into an image, which makes the text not selectable, and removes the flexibility for the designer. Adding this feature allows for any fonts to be used and for them to be on the server, rather than depending on what the viewer has installed on their machine. It is a lot like PDF. PDF is what it is today because it embeds all the contents in the file so that no matter where you go you can see exactly what you saw on every other platform. Before PDF, especially in the print industry, it was a pain because you might be missing a file or a file would be corrupt and you would have issues.

Feature request - disabled auto-select in function editor

There are a few enhancements that could be made to improve the productivity of heavy script builders:
1) Reinstate the "Advanced Editor" button on the right side of the formula bar. It's tiring having to click the View tab, click the editor button, and then flip back to the view tab to apply and close (or use the pull-down menu on the left). Leave the View
tab as is - just put the button back as a shortcut to open the editor dialog box. Thanks!
2) When you create a custom function, the function tab appears...which means that PQ knows that it's working with a function. It would be useful if, in addition to creating the function tab, PQ unchecks the load to workbook check box. Loading a
custom function to the workbook serves no practical purpose. The problem is that I invariably forget to uncheck the box after creating a new custom function, and have to re-enter the function, uncheck the box, then delete the now useless worksheet. Phew!
3) Would be really nice if there was a window that allowed the input of test function arguments, and displayed the results of intermediate expressions calculated eagerly. Such functionality would be a huge boost for troubleshooting complex custom functions.

Prevent timeline to play again if trigger is clicked a second time

Hi. how do I prevent the timeline of a symbol from restarting when the trigger button is clicked a second time and the timeline has already run. I have a line that grows when I click the button and I want it to stay like. When I click the button again the line jumps to its original size.

Auto-run after a period of time

Hey anyone, is there any way to set up iDVD to have the disc auto play after the menu has been left on for about 30 seconds or so. I know there is the auto-play feature for when you first start up the DVD, but we are wanting the menu to run first, then if nothing gets pressed go into one of the videos.

Not with iDVD. (This can be done with Apple's 'high-end' DVD Studio Pro product.)
You could use iMovie to create one movie from the three clips and then put chapter marks at the start of each clip. This would allow you to start with the 2nd or 3rd clip. However, once you jump to a chapter mark, playback will continue to the end of the entire movie.

How would you like the feature to work?
Auto-save would work just as it does today, except it would work as a background process, as it already does in Photoshop (without the Autosave popup getting in the way of the edit).
Why is this feature important to you?
The current autosave feature is terrifice and expected in any application today, but the current autosave popup dialog is useless. It only has a "Cancel" button. What's the point? I can't imagine when I would ever want to cancel an auto-save. And let's say I *did* want to cancel. The dialog is only on screen for a second or so. That's not enough time for user interaction, but it is just enough time for my work to be interupted, and for me to potentially hit the enter key as I go to Render something at precisely the same time.

I fully agree! That's something I requested during the CS5 beta program. I requested that every time a user does a manual save, the Autosave reset its counter. So for example, if the delay is 10 minutes between auto saves, and the user does a manual save two minutes before the next scheduled autosave, the autosave counter resets to 10 more minutes. But with the better solution of the current project constantly being saved after each edit, as Jim suggested, this feature wouldn't even be needed anymore.

That would be a perfect solution IMO! And yes, retaining the 'Save As' option would be very important!
I also like the idea of automatic versioning/backups (could be renamed to 'versions' since with a constantly saved project file, automatic 'backups' would no longer be necessary.
To resume, based on what has been discussed in this thread, I believe these would be the ideal saving options in Premiere:
Autosaving of every edit in the background without slowing down editing performance (as suggested by Jim).
Ability to create a user defined number of automatic backup versions, by setting maximum number of versions and time intervals (as is currently the case with Premiere).
In other words, the current project file would constantly be updated as the user edits. The automatic backups/versions would be created at user defined intervals.
Users would retain the ability to create a copy of the current project at any moment through the 'Save As' and 'Save a Copy' commands that already exist in Premiere.
Pop-up Auto-save dialogue boxes and the 'Save' command would be a thing of the past!
IMO, this would truly give us the best of both words as MonkeyEastMonkey suggests: constant saving as per FCPX, with the comprehensive versioning options Premiere currently offers.
Anything missing?

Auto close after playing a trailer?

The title says my question: Can I set Quicktime to close automaticallyl after a trailer plays? I don't see a setting for that, so I presume not.

The QuickTime Player isn't open when you view most movies embedded in a Web page. Only the browser plug-in is in use.
If the page code is set to "target" the QuickTime Player then the file will open in QT. It is up to the authors to decide what the file does when the movie is finished.
QuickTime Pro can set some "Presentation" features that include auto close and auto quit. These properties travel with the file.
I set some of my Presentation movies to auto quit the player when the file is finished.
Doesn't Control-Q quit the open app?

Hi there.
I listened to podcast there were two things I found that helped me out. Both we're in the podcast app itself.
Firstly change the default sorting order. When looking at the list off episodes a available on your ios device tap on the description part at the top, this will bring up the settings for that podcast (subscribe mark as played etc) scroll to the Bottom and select oldest first. This will mean that if you are listening to the latest download it will stop at the end as there will be no more to play.
Secondly, and useful if listening to older podcasts in the list, you can use the timer to stop once the current episode has ended. To do this when you are in the podcast playback screen slide the "album artwork" up, revealing the playback options and nifty tape playing animation this is where you adjust playback speed and set a timer. The timer has a number of options to set playback to stop after set amount of time. However one of these options is to stop once the current episode you are listening to ends. This can also be current chapter if the podcast you are listening to supports chapters.

After Update, stacked widget won't stop auto play

Hello-
On the home page of a website I am creating, I have used a composition widget to scroll through featured youtube videos. It is designed to auto play, sliding from video to video when you land on the page (stacked option selected), and then stop the auto play when one of the thumbnails is selected.
Now that I have updated/upgraded, the autoplay will not stop! Once you select a thumbnail, the auto play just starts again. This is an issue because I need the user to be able to watch the youtube video in the "slide" they have selected.
Any way around this? or can this be resolved??

We broke it in the 2.0 update. 2.1 should go live next week. It includes a fix for this. Until then, I'm sorry but I'm not aware of a workaround.
