Feature request: View layer comps in both Comments and Extract

Good day,
I'd like to see the layer comps dropdown duplicated and applied to the Comments panel of Extract, in hopes that when viewing layer comps over the web, there's better, faster performance when reviewing comps. Extract is wonderful, but not everyone on my team needs the tools it offers (just developers, really). Everyone on my team does need to view the layer comps, making the comments section an appropriate home for it.
Note: I'm not suggesting moving layer comps from Extract to Comments. Please make layer comps available to both.
Thanks for reading,
-Brent

Hi John,
I visit there for other product feature requests quite often. It unfortunately does not offer Creative Cloud as an option from it's dropdown.
Perhaps I should request that feature?

  • Feature Request: View exported PDF when packaging

Part of my workflow on job completion / sign-off is to package my InDesign document [File > Package]
I use this feature to ensure I have fonts, links, IDML and Print-ready PDF for archiving purposes and saw that CC greatly improved the packaging feature by adding IDML and PDF options. What I would like to suggest/see is that the PDF option comes with a "View PDF File" when packaging to ensure it has saved correctly / without error. (Indesigns uses the last settings to determine bleed etc. irrelevant to which preset you have selected). It would just save a few more nav clicks along the way.

There are a couple of ways you can view the mp3 path. (1) Right click on the track, and select "Show Song File." (2) Right click on the track, select "Get Info" and look on the Summary tab.

  • Feature Request:  Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request.  I've wanted to see this one for a while.  If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse.  I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation.  A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
    Moust Back Button = "BACK"
ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
    ENTER opens a folder.
ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
    F2 Renames a folder
ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
    ESC cancels the renaming operation.
Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context.  (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor.  ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor.  ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers.  When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect.  It's muscle memory, if not intuitive.  I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence).  And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
    Preference:
checkbox:  Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
checkbox:  Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin.  Of course that doesn't work.  And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too.  I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER.  Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr.  However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.

  • Feature Request // Book Module: Export as indd file and management

Book Module: Export as indd file and management
I would like to request a feature to export a book module as indd file.
I like PDF's but .indd is nice also so we are able to to more in depth layouts.
Having Lightoom being able to manage all your pictures and book layouts would be nice, alot of things can be done in one application.
Another Feature:  Using Lightoom as book layout management.
Being able to send a page(s) of the book from lightroom into InDesign to do indepth layout and editing, then being able to send it back into lightroom
Almost similar to how you can send a photo from LR in Photoshop to do indepth editing and then send it back into lightroom.
This could and will ease the workflow of book management and layout design.  So lightroom will not only be able to manage photos, but also indesign and book layouts.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4238530#4238530

Why do repeat it here, as you have already filed a feature request for it?
BTW AFAIK this is already implemented: you can use Adobe Illustrator or InDesign or Opensource Scribus to edit layouts.
They are just not ready to publish how - another sign of the quality processes at Adobe.
But you do not send from the book module.
You create upfront layout templates, which you can import for use inside LR book module.
    This is a one-way street.
The book module designers did not acknowledge a use case where you might want to fiddle the exact placement of really chosen images.
It is always you first design a template, then use it.
Love it or leave it - *change it* is not an option that Adobe seems to give to their beta testers.

  • Feature Request: "View States" (layer visibility state)

    Hi all,
I've been using Illustrator now for many years.  A large majority of the graphics I create are used in Flash for many of the games I develop.  Some of the graphics are exported from Illustrator as vector art, some are output as raster.
There is a game that we've been working on recently that demonstrated a large need for a feature I came up with known as "View States."
Why this is important to me:
When you have an Illustrator file that contains many graphical elements, no matter how they are arranged in Illustrator using multiple layers or not, it is very, VERY challenging to be able to remember which layers and/or graphical elements should be kept visible, and which shouldn't be kept visible when you are outputing graphics in various ways.
Going back to the game that my co-worker and I were working on, we have an Illustrator file that has 4 layers at the root level, in those layers, many more graphical elements and sub-layers each containing many, MANY more elements and sub-layers.  The game we are working is designed such that the background of the game is raster art; however, other foreground elements are output as vector art.  Anytime a change needs to be made to the artwork, I have to remember which layers I should hide and which should be kept visible in order to output the necessary graphics in whatever format I need to.
The first question you may ask is, "Why not simply create a layer structure that allows you to simply hide the foreground or background elements so that you can output exactly what you need?"  That is a very good approach at producing the artwork.  And I'm completely open to changing the way I work being that is the only way I've been able to grow as a digital artist. However, I feel that this feature has merit in providing a simpler way for designers to work if they are unwilling or don't care to change the way they work.  In addition, some of the graphics we developed are grouped in such a way that splitting them could make it more challenging to find pieces of art in a file that has many many layers.
    How this feature may work:
Basically a new panel titled "View States" would be in the interface.  This panel would allow you to create "view state" instances.  In each instance you provide a name for it to make it easier for you to remember what it is for.
Each view state, when selected, would hide or show the layers you've set to be visible or not visible for that particular view state, thereby making it easier for the designer to know which graphics need to be output for a particular element of their artwork.  If you want to change the visible properties of a layer for a particular view state, simply select the view state and then alter the visibility property of that layer and it will remember that information for that particular view state.
There are many other options that could be added for this feature, but I just wanted to get the feature information out there to see what you guys think.

  • Feature Request : viewing options of hyperlink in MSO

In v18 it is now possible to have hyperlinks in MSOs.
    What I miss is
    - I click on the URL
    - The built in Web viewer opens up within the Folio
    - Here I see that the Web site is not fit in the window, scrolling left/right is necessary.
Possible to request that when the URL is clicked the web site fits in the window of the built in Web viewier in the Folio?
It is possible for Web Content.
    Thank you.

  • Feature Request: allow Layer sort options + math in layer search fields

First off, thank you so much for implementing layer sorting! I have one suggestion, and that would be to add a sort option by most recently edited or most recently created.
That and the ability to do math in fields would be sublime.

  • Feature Request: Provide search functionality to procedures, functions and keywords in code

Have been using SQL Server since 1998, and been wondering why MS cant better the GUI , in terms of ease of use, as its done in Visual Studio and other such tools, though there are some enhancements like multiple window etc, would expect few more for easy
    working for developers.
    1) A search text box, in the SSMS interface, for searching stored procedures, functions, tables etc would be very useful, instead of expanding the entire tree and going through a long list to find your procedure or table, especially when you have a large
    list of them.
    2) Also a code search tool, like to find a keyword in the entire stored procedures, triggers and functions would be useful, currently we had to generate whole script and then find the keyword, and this is cumbersome, as you have to move back and forth to
find which stored procedure or function has that keyword etc.
    Thanks.

    1. You already have feature in SQL management studio to search for objects using full names or patterns through object explorer
    See
    http://visakhm.blogspot.in/2013/02/object-filtering-using-ssms-object.html
    2. For this you can use the catalog view sys.sql_modules and fire a query on it

  • I have a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks and safari consistently freezes. It takes several 'return/enter' presses to get to the page I requested. I have seen other comments and replies on how to fix (clear cache, clear extensions/plug-ins), to no avail.

I have a new macbook pro running mavericks and only using Safari as my browser.  75% of my url requests are 'hung up' and freeze.  I have seen other posts and have tried to clear cache, reset safari, remove extensions, but to no avail.
    Any recommendations?

If it works in a new user account, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Feature Request: Scan attached drives to automatically find and reconnect "missing" images

This is the kind of thing that computers are good for. I'm surprised that we've made it all the way to version 5 without this feature being added.  It would be relatively easy.
Scan the catalog to make an internal list of all images that are "missing" (the raw file is not found where the catalog says it should be).
Scan the attached hard drives and make an internal list of all images on the system.
Compare the file names, sizes and dates of all of the found images and match them up.
You could provide a UI to confirm the reconnected images, or simply do it automatically.  If desired, you could use EXIF data in the images to help confirm that the proper images are being connected.  In fact, this step could be used as an "advanced" option to find images where the filename has changed.
    Thanks for your consideration!
    David Terry
(an original Raw Shooter and RawShooter/Pro user - which Adobe purchased and turned into Lightroom 1.0 - it's been a wonderful ride so far!)

Eliminating step 2 eliminates the security of an immediate backup.  I don't want to ever tell a customer that I lost their images.  The backup is done just as soon as possible.
Doing the processing on the SSD while having backed up to storage lets me get through thousands of images on a weekly basis (all things related to weddings as well as family portraits, seniors and the like).
The syncing process is automated (in fact, most of my processes are).  It keeps *me* fast and efficient.
So why argue against a tool that can benefit not only me but others that have lost their images (for reasons having nothing to do with me or my workflow)?  I am involved in many forums and have frequently helped people to find their lost images.  I love that Lightroom easily reconnects the images.  The only hard part is finding what happened to them (often they did a bonehead drag and drop of a folder and moved the images somewhere they didn't expect, sometimes they changed drive letters, sometimes they purposely move files and just don't realize the repercussions).
ALL of these people would benefit from adding this feature.
Why try to argue against it?  I don't need a solution to my workflow.  I love my workflow.  I just think this feature would be beneficial to me and lots of other people.
    Thanks for understanding.

  • FEATURE REQUEST: illuminate keyboard on wake from sleep and passwd required

I've had my MBA for about a week and a half now. Slick little machine. Love it. There's one thing it doesn't do that's driving me crazy. Well, not literally crazy, but it is annoying. To reproduce:
    1. System Preferences -> Security -> check "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver." Quit System Preferences.
    2. Press F6 enough times to make sure the keys are illuminated.
    3. Close the display and wait for the computer to go to sleep.
    4. Open the display and wait for the computer to wake.
    5. The screen will turn on and the password prompt will appear. However, the keys are not illuminted! If you're in the dark, you have to hunt for the right keys to enter your password.
    6. After you enter your password, you are brought back to whatever you were doing when you closed the display in step 3, and the keys light up.
The keys should light up when you open the display, not once you've unlocked the machine!
    Bug!

It's best you send this directly to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback
    Have a nice day.

  • Nested layers and Layer comps

A couple of things I would like to see is better layer control.
At the moment, I use nested layers the same as I use layer groups in Photoshop. ie I put all the element for the front of a label in a layer called 'Front label'. And this works great, however when I reopen the document, the layer palette looks like a mess because Illustrator has expanded all the layers!!
I would be really useful if the Illustrator could remember the layer state of the layer view.
Since we work in the packaging design industry for a brand which operates in a number of countries. We have the same pack but with different language clusters. It would be great to have a layer comp feature which works like layer comps in Photoshop. And to be able to export the different layer comps as separate files.

  • Layer Comp

I like the idea using Adobe Bridge also as a font management software. Good. I'd also like to have Bridge be able to view Photoshop Layer Comps directly. I love using Layer Comps and would also like to see the feature in Illustrator. But there's no image viewer software that can view layer comps directly now, and I'd like to see them in Bridge.

    > But there's no image viewer software that can view layer comps directly now, and I'd like to see them in Bridge.
And as long as they're adding a viewer, allow it to read PS assests like patterns and brushes so you can manage your collections.

  • ITunes Feature Request: Shared Library Enhancements

I didn't see a section of the forum specific to feature requests so I'll just post here and see what kind of feedback pops up.
I use iTunes to manage the music library for my home network, then share the library to each system on the network. The only gripe I have is that I can not make my local systems load the artwork from music in the shared library. I am also a bit dissapointed that the "jukebox" view doesn't work for shared libraries, and that you can't make a playlist containing songs on a shared library.
I'm assuming these features were left out to conserve network bandwidth, which makes sense, however I think it should be an optional feature that that can be enabled for people with the hardware to support it. If you're running a gigabit home network then there is certainly enough bandwidth to spare to support this.
I'm a windows user and will always be, however I'm very impressed with iTunes and how efficiently it operates and handles tagging and other features. I just think that the shared library capabilities should be expanded. It'd even be nice if you could grant permission to a specific computer name or IP range giving systems permission to edit the library. Remote Desktop/VNC solutions work well for this, but it'd be nice to have an internal feature to support it.
