Feature Request: vpn auto-connection on WiFi-connect

Hello,
since a short time I use my iPod touch with firmware V2.2 in combination with a commercial vpn-provider.
My problem now is that the iPod doesn't automatically connect to the vpn server when it establishes a wifi-connection. But as soon as the wifi-connection has been established it automatically retrives new mails and the mail retrieval will be done using a non-secure internet connection.
This is a big security issue and I can't find a solution for it using the current firmware.
I hope that it will be considered within a following firmware release.
Best regards,
Marcell

You might want to try resetting your router and your modem - just unplug the cords, leave them unplugged for about 3-5 minutes and then replug the modem and then the router in that order.
This may or may not correct your problem - call back if it doesn't.

My current situation: I have soooo many texts on my iphone and I haven't deleted many because I need the information contained in them for future reference and for legal purposes.  I would really like to find a means and way to save them other than on the phone itself. I've done searches for various apps yet I'm not finding what I think I would need.  It appears Apple does not sync the texts between the iphone and my MacBook Pro.
Try the computer apps PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac & PC):

  • Feature Request: VPN Portal with ability to download vpn client

Hi i have an feature request to improve the ISA experience.
Can you provide an vpn user login portal. When the user login he/she will be able to download the anyconnect directly from the firewall.
The same function is found on the Cisco ASA devices, even the RV series installs and SSL VPN client from a portal. I would not expect it to have a deep customization as the asa series but more the ability to let mobile users be able to connect using a regular browser and download the client them self if they don't have it.

    Hi Alex,
Thank you for your feedback.  I will pass this along.

  • Access Connections showing wifi connection as greyed out.

Under the tab called "Connect to Internet", the only radio button that shows ungreyed out is Other Connections. In other words, it doesn't allow me to even choose Wifi connections.
Nevertheless, Windows is connecting me to my wifi network.
Is there some kind of conflict between Access Connections and Windows and if so, how to set Access Connections to be the main wifi connector?
Actually, just went into FN F5, and it doesn't even give me the option to turn on the wifi radio. it see the bluetooth, but not wifi. Any idea what might be going on? I definitely have a working wifi, and up until updating Access Connections this morning, everything was working.
    thanks

Hi - thanks for your suggestion. I posted this a while back, and everything is pretty ok now. The key issues remain are as follows:
    1) Sometimes the green bars show, but there is an "x" over the wifi symbol next to the green bars. I have no idea what that means, especially since I have a good connection even when the "x" shows.
    2) When I attempt to use a new wifi connection outside of my home, Access Connection consistently hangs. What I have discovered is that if I turn off wifi, then go into Access Connections, the program does not hang. I then turn on my wifi, (once I am in Access Connections), and do a search and establish a connection. Shouldn't have to go through all that. Sure seems like Access Connections remains very unstable.

  • IOS7 wifi connections, IOS7 wifi connections

After uploading IOS7, I lost wifi connectivity to my home network.  The password is correctly input; the message  is "unable to join the network  "ATT0943"

    Hey Kudzu2ms,
I know this just started when you updated, but the standard troubleshooting doc should still help you out. I'd go through the steps in here:

  • Can't figure this out- cable connection vs wifi connection

Can't figure this out: when my 13" MBP is connected wirelessly to my Airport base station, my iPad can see it. When I connect the MBP to the base station via ethernet cable (for faster connection), the iPad can no longer see it.
Note: my airport is not connected to the internet. I'm simply wanting to setup a closed network for the iPad to connect to the MBP. There's nothing else on the network. The app on the iPad is locating the MBP by ip address so it must be a permanently assigned number.

    Am having the same problem.
Everything was working fine until yesterday.
Now if I connect my iMac to the Extreme with Ethernet the Airport is not visible and I can't connect to the internet.
iPods and iPhones can still use the wifi to get on the internet.
If I switch the iMac to Airport it works, but, will not work with the Ethernet cable connected.
Have tried changing ethernet cables and still no go.
    Can't figure this out.

  • I was using a neighbor's wifi temporarily.  Now that I have my permanent DSL connection, my wifi connects automatically to my neighbor's  wifi.  How can I change it to access my new DSL connection?

I was using a neighbor's wifi temporarily.  Now that I have my own wifi, my Macbook continues to hook up with my neighbor's.  How can I change it so that it automatically hooks up with my wifi?  I have no problem with the connection.  It is just a pain to continually change to my wifi.

You need to go into the Preferences for the your WiFi and remove your neighbors from the list or move it below yours so that it will connect to yours first.  System Preferences (Accessed through the Apple in the Upper Left Hand Corner) > Network.  Then click on WiFi in the list on the Left hand side of the window and then click on Advanced button in the lower right hand corner.  You will then get the list of all the wireless networks that have been joined and in the order they were joined from oldest to newest.  Find the one in the list and either drag it below your network, or click on it and then press the "-" button to remove it from the list totally and then from that point on it should start connecting to your WiFi first automatically.

  • MacBook will not connect to wifi connections.

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that suddenly stopped connecting to any sort of wifi. Even on windows side, wifi is t working. No setting have been changed. No updates have recently occurred. I feel there is a hardware issue with the network card.
I have tried to connect to home wifi, mobile hotspot, as well as a friends wifi.
I am able to connect to Internet via Bluetooth network sharing only.
I receive a "Network timeout" message.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Cannot connect to WIFI - 'connection time out occured' but also says 'no ip address'

    Hi,
I've searched the web and found endless issues with the wifi router / etc of the Imac Lion system. On the same wifi network we have a mac book (leopard I think), a pc laptop (which I am using now) and 2 phones + my brand new Imac with Lion osx. The first 4 items all connect with no problems.
I tried some of the sollutions here but it even made it worse as I now not have any connection at all!
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
When I try to connect trhough systems preferences/network I get the message that my password is incorrect and that there is no IP address. Password is definitely correct. When I try to connect from the symbol in the right top corner - I get the message 'connection time out occured'
I am a bit of a Mac dummy ... any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Billie

    Hi BDAqua,
Thanks a lot for getting back to me.
Not so sure what your first questions means - or how to check this?
I tried joining other Wi-Fi network:
If I choose security 'WPA Personal' i get the message: connection time out
If I choose security 'WPA2 Personal' or 'WEP'  i get the message@ no network found
hmmmm any suggestions? Thanks so much
    Billie

  • Can't connect to wifi connection

I'm looking in the DHCP settings and I've got the IP address and subnet mask showing but the rest are blank.
I know it's not a problem with my phone since it works fine on other wifi networks.

I want to note that the reason I need wifi is to finish some over 20MB app downloads.
