Feature Request - Way to organise connections

My job requires that I connect to a large number of user/instance combinations spread accross dev/test/prod environments. It would be really nice if I could organize my database connections into a hierarchy of sorts. One way might be the ability to create folders within the connection tab. It would work similar to organizing "favorites" or "bookmarks" in a web browser.
Kudos on the tool - feedback from people at our site is very positive.

Time Machine is preparing for backups *all week long* for backups that will ALWAYS FAIL because I am not at home connected to my home network where my backup drive is.
The calculating that goes along with preparing for a backup slows my machine down very noticeably.
This is very frustrating as I must turn Time Machine off, and then hope i remember to turn it back on each night when I return home from work.

Feature Request or another way of setting an Affiliate up or External Affiliate Software

One of the biggest problems with the Affiliate module, is its persistence
Feature Request -
Using Affiliates to market products and services is a huge business, but the BC system only caters for affiliates providing a link to a specific product (or possible the shop) and it only works if they follow that link and buy right there and then.
Even if the customers buys something under the affiliate link, if the customer returns to the shop a second time, without using the link, then any affiliate reference is lost. There is no persistence nor any link stored between the affiliate and customer.
Therefore the affiliate program does not work for any business that may use affiliates but does not use a Shopping cart. For example I am working on a Property site where professionals may refer clients to buy property, and receive a referral/affiliate fee. We need to track which customers are linked to a referrer/affiliate but there is no shop involved, although we would like to put the commission through as a manual order and track commission payments.
Suggestion: When a Customers uses an affiliate link to enter their details (or buy something from a shop for that matter), then the affiliate is stored permanently on the customer’s record, and can be used for subsequent purchases/orders.
This means that if the customer returns to the shop directly and buys something, then the system can use the stored affiliate link to make sure the affiliate gets paid.
Secondly other business can now add an Order Manually for the client, and the affiliate will get paid. This will open up BC to other businesses that use affiliate systems without a shopping cart. Especially useful for the Services industry.
I also think by doing this BC can remove the problem of requiring a seamless gateway.
Another Way?
Any feature request like this may take time to be set up, if it is set up at all.
Can anyone advise if they have managed to get around the problem and how. Thanks

That is correct: SLBL only works on SMTP addresses.
If I understand correctly, the user wants to prune thier Block List by removing addresses that are not actively sending spam. This is not easy, but it is something that the user can do themselves:
The user can log directly into the Spam Quarantine to see what mail has been stopped on thier behalf recently. They would then access their SLBL through the Spam Quarntine to see what addresses they have configured for Blocking. For each address listed, they would Search their Spam Quarntine for emails from that address. They would then review the content of those emails to determine if they stilll want to block the specific address or not.

Feature Request: Open Connection Indicator

Hello,
I have about 50+ connections, and it would be nice if the icon on the Connections tab changed slightly to indicate that the connection is open. Currently, the only way I can tell if a connection is open is by right clicking the connection entry and noticing if "Disconnect" is greyed out or not.
Perhaps the little database can "light up" or "turn on" indicating it is plugged in when the connection is open.

Feature Request: vpn auto-connection on WiFi-connect

Hello,
since a short time I use my iPod touch with firmware V2.2 in combination with a commercial vpn-provider.
My problem now is that the iPod doesn't automatically connect to the vpn server when it establishes a wifi-connection. But as soon as the wifi-connection has been established it automatically retrives new mails and the mail retrieval will be done using a non-secure internet connection.
This is a big security issue and I can't find a solution for it using the current firmware.
I hope that it will be considered within a following firmware release.

Feature request: Connect a clip in between other clips shortcut

One of the things that slows me down the most when editing in FCPX is the ability to connect a clip and have it go where I want it vertically in the timeline (above or below other connected clips in the timeline). It would be GREAT to be able to just hover the mouse pointer in the space in between two clips in the timeline and then hit a shortcut key (similar to Q) a "Connect Between Clips" shortcut key to connect a clip and have it go into that space.

Feature request: option to deactivate builtin screen when monitor connected

This is a feature request for laptops, or rather for the Air specifically. To see why it might be a good thing, see this thread:

I'd like a checkbox in the display preferences to deactivate the internal monitor when an external monitor is plugged in. This would save load on the Air's GPU and reduce heat while using an external monitor.
Users of the regular Macbook might want this as well.

Apple doesn't monitor the forum for feature requests and the like. It's just for user-to-user help.
Also note that this feature already exists: all Mac laptops sold in the past few years, including the MacBook Air, can be run with only an external monitor. It's called closed-lid mode.

If you then want to open the lid to increase cooling, you can. Once the external display is attached, the internal display does not come on automatically when you open it.

Make it easier to order world clocks, instead of the order they are added.

Easier way to get to the bottom of e-mails (I think it scrolls pretty fast, I think poster wants "B" shortcut)

In Playbook we can have a single character password, why not on BB10? "too short" well it is my decision, isn't it?
There is no way to go next/previous while reading an e-mail. Please add these functions.
Add to the e-mail client, Next Unread / Previous Unread.
E-mail or Hub should have more buttons at the bottom in landscape mode. Why keep only three (or four in e-mail view) buttons when you have the real estate. It would be extremely handy if you allowed users to edit which buttons should go at the bottom. Next Previous is really needed while reading an e-mail. For example I would love to add "File" button at the bottom as a shortcut instead of forward, I rarely forward, but I file all the time. Maybe allow users to have two row of keys, add next/previous/unread. Or it could be done with a gesture. How about swiping the account name (top blue bar while reading e-mail) left and right?
When you create a new contact in BlackBerry, it gets synced to all accounts on the Hub. There is no way to limit the new contact to a specific account.
Sometimes when you file an e-mail to a folder, it stops and waits few seconds with no message. Even when it files immediately, there is a confirmation message that takes time to appear and disappear, and the folder list does not disappear automatically.
Messages filed automatically by server using server side filter rules are still showing up on Blackberry hub/inbox. In older BB versions the filtered messages did not show up in the list, filed messages still did.
When you filter your e-mails using Filter / Unread function, new unread e-mails do not show up until you close the filter and re-open. It won't just keep refreshing your screen with unread e-mails. Can BB add a button to the hub "Unread Hub" so when hub shows 8 or 2, you can actually see unread items easily without having to through so many taps.
Native BB QR scanner (Smart Tags) does not work with barcodes (it only scans with no way to use the information). There is Open In function but it doesn't work properly.
We need to add more customs search providers, and be able to add custom search strings/wildcards. For example currently there is Google, Bing, Yahoo, Foursquare, etc..
I hope BB introduces the ability include more standard & custom searches, IMDB, PriceGrabber, Ebay, Youtube, XYZ Forums, ABC Newspaper, 123 Database, Etc.. Most sites nowadays provide search string in their URL Search=?* etc...
None of the Battery apps can access system settings to add a battery icon to the top. I wish battery percentage was there.
There is no way to check carrier/mobile signal strength.
Blackberry, please add the date and carrier / SSID info to the top. Sometimes we just want to glance at the top to see the date without having to swipe.
Please bring back keyboard shortcuts. Since we can easily swipe up to bring the keyboard, just add keyboard shortcuts in e-mail, phone (true speed dialing, dialing by word?), and browser, etc.. if possible. I could always call 1800SOMETHING# now I have to look up the number or use dial pad.. Please bring it back.
Camera zoom function needs to be fixed, also please include option of fixed focus by tapping on the screen to focus. The auto focus in video is focusing in and out to various objects all the time. Stabilization feature also causes tearing/ripples, I guess it is good if you are stationary. Or use Volume Keys to Zoom.
Please allow more than 12 icons in an icon group/folder, I hated Apple for limiting apps per folder, please fix it.
Auto ON/OFF feature is not there anymore. BB should consider Auto DND (DoNotDisturb) or Auto Silent/Airplane modes instead.
Please find a way to stop the music app from automatically starting up every time it connects to bluetooth like car audio. This is very annoying.
No Panaroma mode in Camera app, why not? It is very easy to incorporate. This could be a nice addition to next release, and easy.
The text selection grips needs to be a little bigger, sometimes I cannot see where I am moving them, they work better in Playbook, nice big tabs.
Call Functions, before answering a phone add sideways gesture functions, like swiping right will forward the call, swiping left will answer with a test message, etc..
Or there should be a way to reject the call without sending it to voice mail, phones had this function a decade ago, I don't know what happened to it.
We used to be able to see the "History" without having to save the contact. Now I don't see any way to "View History" of a certain phone number, it just keeps adding
them as individual entries to the log. Now I can't see when was the last time they called me, how many times we spoke which day, etc... I loved this feature in BB5.
Where is BB Traffic? Where is BB Weather, without having to run an active frame? It will eventually disappear if you run too many apps. I liked a little Icon that shows me what the temp is, instead of running a whole app.
There is no Skype. This day and age with all other platforms having it, please either get skype (Microsoft) to cooperate, or open up BBM to other platforms. If necessary, pay Skype to develop the app, then charge BB users for the app. Most will gladly pay.
Can we tap and hold on an active frame to pin it, or can we pin two favorite apps between Call and Search & Search and Camera buttons in the bottom bar? How about Close All running Active Frames app to quickly free up ram?
I hope next generation devices have two speakers or speaker that is facing forward. When playing games or watching videos in landscape mode, I find my palm muting the speaker. I have to hold it gently with fingers to have a gap in between, something I don't want to do when I am on the subway or bus.
Blackberry Maps should have a Zoom In/Zoom Out buttons, sometimes using it with one hand, it is impossible to zoom in and out. (Zoom in is OK but we can't zoom back out)

Lost & Found iPhone with Find My iPhone - Feature Request

Yes I found the lost phone and I'm very very grateful for the existing feature which works flawlessly once you get a hold of it but from a real life use case, there are things that can be improved that will make it more efficient and effective. This is a summary of feature requests that I figure from the real-life use case of Find My iPhone.
Earlier this week my friend dropped his iPhone on a cab and realize at the end of the day (he initially thought he left it at home) that it must have fell off his pocket in the cab where he can hardly remember the color of the cab let alone the license plate. Having said that I asked him if he had iCloud turned on (basically Find My iPhone in recent iOS) and so we checked. So here is where all the difficulties begin and please keep in mind that in a situation like this we're always in a hurry if not panicking.....
1. You typically have more than 1 mobile phones:
a.) Where its most likely different brand, model, or OS (you don't buy two identical phones) so in this case he has a Samsung Android where iCloud page can not be rendered - it throws an error. So this didn't work
b.) You need to borrow your friend's "iPhone" to find it and not many people find it obvious that you need to download the Find my iPhone app in addition to just activating iCloud to track a phone. Thats another long step considering in some countries u have a really crappy 3G or sometimes on Edge
c.) If you are lucky your friend have an iPhone or an iPad, you go to www.icloud.com it doesn't do anything except tell you "how to turn on icloud", download Find my Friends, and Find my iPhone.....you need a laptop browser to be able to use the tracking feature....why????? I understand that it won't work with other brands of mobile phones but these are both Apple's!!!
2. When you realize that you have lost your phone, you don't always have your laptop or an iPad - but you always have mobile phones let it be your secondary one or your friend's. Moreover, your laptop rarely have cellular connection so even if you have it, aside from the fact that it takes you 15 minutes to boot up your laptop, you also have to find yet ANOTHER phone to tether or find a 3G card to plug in to it so it can use cellular as oppose to just wifi, and then walk around with a laptop looking for the lost phone. And laptop don't have GPS, you don't know where you are relative to your lost phone.
3. You are trying to look for your iPhone from another iPhone (the most convenient way) but you only see ONE dot that shows your lost iPhone but not "you" who are walking around looking for it so you have to:
1.) Open the Find My Iphone app and then see where your phone is located
2.) Open up Google Map (sad but true, Google map is currently the preferable map) to find where you are. Why Google map? In a less developed country, google maps works a lot better in detail.
3.) Try to find where you are relative to where the lost phone is across 2 maps and 2 different apps. But even if it was Apple map, its still 2 different apps switching back and forth.
Yes, the idealistic case which would disregard all this is that you have 2 Apple devices logged on to the same iCloud account then you can see 2 dots but not everyone have enough of that to make it useful :-)
4. You use to have a send message button, lock the phone, make noise, and erase the phone. Now you need to first lock the phone before you can send a message. Understand that you should always lock the phone first but when you're panicking, making the feature obvious would help
5. Would be nice to know the "percentage" of the battery and being able to shut down all the apps, dim the screen, and etc. to maximize the battery time before the phone goes dead might be helpful.
It was almost a miracle to get the phone back in a place like this where people tend to immediately shut down your phone and throw away the sim card once they get a hold of it. My friend was very lucky that the phone was in silent and fell into the crack of the backseat and the cab was parked outside the garage so the GPS location was absolutely precise.
Having mentioned that, iOS7 new security feature that requires your Apple login credentials to erase or turn off Find my iPhone. My question here being it says, find my iphone can continue to display message even after erased - if that is the case will I still be able to track it as well? What if I'm the person who erased it remotely, will I still be able to display message as well as track it?

We also can't speculate on what exactly iOS 7's new security features will actually do, all that's available is what has been said so far by Apple, anyone using a developer version is forbidden to discuss it anywhere but in the developers community.

SSLSocket to support NIO - feature request voting

I know there were many discussions here regarding this subject.
I've seen the SSLEngine solution for the problem... But I didn't like it since it is too complicated.
For my understanding SSLSocket inherits Socket so an application that can handle Sockets should be able to handle SSLSocket without writing a specific code besides the factory.
NIO allows Socket to be none blocking... So why SSLSocket which is a Socket does not?
If I write a Web server in Java, why should I deal with none SSL and SSL connections in a different way?
I recently wrote one threaded NIO server and was amazed that I could not use SSL with the same implementation.
I've opened a feature request for Java, but they told me to gain support for this subject here before they will consider it...
As I understand I can re-implement SSLSocket to use SSLEngine and support NIO with blocking and none blocking support... But I think Sun should do it.
One caveat is to make sure that the SSLSocket HandshakeCompletedListener should be called by a daemon thread, so that it will not block other sockets while certificate verification occur.
Of course when I refer to SSLSocket I also refer to SSLServerSocket.
Can you please comment regarding this issue... Every comment will be welcomed!

nah, I am very glad they released an engine separate from transport allowing encryption on any transport.
I am also working on an abstraction of nio that you may be interested in if you don't want to do the security yourself......it is here...

Right now, it only contains the api, but there are 3 implementations behind it right now with 3 to be added.
1. Basic implementation that does just nio
2. Secure implementation that implements same api and uses implementation 1
3. Packettizer implementation which puts things in payloads with headers and footers
4. (to be added) Threadpool implementation allowing a threadpool to be inserted in the stack somewhere
5. (to be added) TestProxy implementation allowing exxceptions to be thrown on purpopse to test a system on a bad network....can test failure on bind, connect, read, write, etc....everything.
6. denial of service layer.
7. Exception catch layer to protect #1 and #4 mainly from bad clients that throw exceptions back to the channelmanager.
Each one of these layers (2 - 4) implements the same api and uses the same api so 2 -4 are all proxies. You can reorganize the proxies as you want.
The secure one is almost done. Any comments on the api will be welcome.

Multiple Imperative Feature Requests

I am a MN Photographer and have been using PS Lightroom through 2 betas and 2 release versions. I have been amazed at the improvements Adobe has added, but from my point of view, they need to add a few more features to make LR more robust and efficient!
I love the way LR makes terrific web galleries!
I am running LR from a Seagate Barracuda 300 External Hard Drive with Firewire connection. I am using a Mac Powerbook (1GHz Processor) with 60GB HD and 55% free, w/ 2GB DRAM, and an Apple Cinema Display. I can't complain about slow downs, but keep my permissions tuned once a week, both on the Mac PB and all EHDs.
LIGHTROOM FEATURE REQUESTS
1. From the Web module, there is only one option for adding Copyright Info to images in the Web Galleries, either ON or OFF. It would be a great addition to have this option variable by type size, type placement on images, and opacity. I last generated a web gallery and some of the images said, "2007 Alex Bachnick All Rights Reserved," but many of the images said, "Alex Bachnick All Rights Reserved," without a year. A few images said, "Copyright 2007 Alex Bachnick All Rights Reserved," like it is supposed to! The LR application has been inconsistent so far in this area. By adding a line of copy that can be saved, and by varying the opacity and placement on images would be a huge step forward!
2. It is IMPERATIVE that you embed metadata into the Web gallery images. This is primarily for adding keywords and copyright information, but LR is inconsistent so far. Sometimes metadata is preserved, but it doesn't always get embedded when exporting images.
3. When I generated a Flash Web Gallery, some of the color was good, some of it was terrible. I have suggested before that you write into the action that takes the original image, reduces it in size, then convert to profile from Prophoto to sRGB. I suspect that you have a script in there "Save for Web". This script is denigrating the color when Convert to Profile would preserve the color. Admittedly Safari is the primary web browser I use, and it's color-centric, whereas most of the others IE, Netscape, and Mozilla, aren't.
4. When I use HTML for the web galleries, the color is spot on, but a young friend told me it would be better to hit one button to go through the images as in a rapidly advancing slide show, rather than hitting each image, and then wait for it to enlarge. This could be another marked improvement, if you made the output a slideshow from the Web Module.
5. I tried generating a slideshow from the Lightroom menu, and had about 200 images in a collection. The application went through the motions, but I tried opening the slideshow but it didn't work. I tried it in PDF format and it output a 135MB file that ADobe Acrobat couldn't open. It is still not working. I have also used a third party application Photo to Movie (www.LQGraphics.com). This is a $50 application that you can add music to and vary the zooms and dissolves and this works incredibly well!!!
6. One of my biggest problems so far is the sort mechanism. I have about 9500 images in my library, and about 5% of those were made from about 2004 and on. My images are sorted by "capture time," but the images shot back in CY 2004--2005 are mixed in somewhere way down in the pile. There are some bugs in the program for reading the capture time, and so far this is not working accurately!
7. From the Lightroom Library module, several times I have exported images for 3rd party needs and the application puts out varying results. In March I output some images for Communication Arts magazine. They specified file size and format, and it took me several times to export the images to their specifications. I recently exported some images for submission to a UK based stock photography agent. The images came from 5 different cameras~~Hasselblad w/ Imacon Digital Back, Kodak DCS-14, Canon 1ds MkII, and Canon D-20. There were 10 images that needed to be output as JPEGs (

1. LR uses what was written in the copyright field so it's your data entry that is inconsistent.
2. Are you 100% certain this is not working reliably under 1.1? It definitely wasn't working at all under 1.0 and Adobe responded to complaints. Since 1.1, I've taken large numbers of Web-generated pictures into iView and not found any cases where the metadata was missing. "Sometimes" is too vague. How exactly can you prove it? What programs prove it?
3. Not sure, but isn't this a problem because of Flash? Also the browser you use is not important - it's the browser that your visitor uses that you need to focus on.
4. Realistically, Flash is better for this. You can always get someone to write/modify HTML templates to do such a slideshow, but the built-in templates are already very complex and this suggestion would add another layer of browser incompatibility.
7. This isn't a feature request. Raise this in the main forum - and be specific (your post was also too long and got truncated). How can anyone help you if you say "varying results"? It's unlikely that any variation is random.

Working collection, not necessarilly pinned - New feature request

Do you think this is a useful feature?
Currently when you are working with objects the only way to keep "non-editing" windows is to pin them.
Can this behaviour be extended as a new node that allows you keep a "working collection" of different object types. The method of user operation that I can see is have a context menu on each object in the node, do a right click "Add to working list".
* Having the ability to add objects maybe from a different schema to the list could be nice. That way the "working collection" is not limited to a connection.
* If this list of objects can be saved for later reuse, it could make it even more functional.
Is it possible to do this as a customisation/extension?

Have you created an feature request for this on the Exchange? Or identified any existing request that is equivalent? Sounds worthwhile.No I haven't. I was hoping for some community response. It seemed like something some would have requested.
I like your idea of a restore. A ability to restore via a session manager even more powerful (As long as dead/obselete objects and broken connections are managed well).
My suggestion was more inclined towards the "project based working" mentioned by Jim.

Where can I request better iBook organisation in iTunes?

I'm sure there used to be a discussion group for feature requests.
I'm sure that proper organisation of books and documents from within iTunes is on the way, but I'd just like to add my +1 to the folks who are desperate for it. I use smart folders and playlists to organise a sprawling music collection and my books and docs collection is growing at a rate that will soon rival it.
Just in case these features aren't being implemented because "our data shows that most people don't actually have that many items in iBooks" - that's because we're all using Goodreader until you guys get your act together!!

I'm more a business type of user - and I want to share my main problems/bug with this community in the hope that the WebOS developers read this...These bugs are so obvious and I am really wondering why these haven't been fixed immediately... BUGS: 1. Email: Delete of IMAP emails doesn't work: Each time I wipe out an email in an IMAP folder, it immediately comes back with the next email sync (which is pre-set "when new email arrives" - which happens in the day time every couple of minutes. PLEASE handle this like all the general behaviour: when wiping out then ask delete or cancel. And after deleting, move to the deleted folder. I am using the German no. 1 IMAP email service GMX (it's free), but I'm sure this happens with other email services as well. 2. PDF reader: delete of PDF files doesn't work: It was working in Version 1.3.1 - but since then it's not working anymore. I use the PDF reader, so I want to delete files from the file list by wiping out! FEATURE REQUESTS: 1. Sync of Memo with Exchange: we are waiting! Calendar, addresses and tasks are working - only missing part is memos! Do it! 2. handling address categories: I work for years with categories (no other way with over 1000 addresses) - so I need to handle categories. Just put this (Exchange-synced) field into the address and introduce a view filter in the menu. Then I can easily find addresses, like 'NYC restaurants' 3. Full text search in addresses and calendar entries: I have to search in the memo/notice field of calendar entries and addresses. This search may take longer of course, but no problem. I created a GMX account myself, to see if the issue could be with your provider specifically. Used automatic setup for the email address, and the Pre automatically recognized as IMAP. I then sent several test messages to the new gmx account from my gmail account, and after each one arrived I deleted it by swiping off from the inbox. When the new email arrived, the old previously deleted email was not in the inbox, but still in the deleted items folder where it should be.
However on the web portal for the GMX account, I saw the "original" unread email in the trash, along with a "copy" in the inbox. This seems to be a design setting for the provider, but it did not mean I kept getting deleted emails back in my inbox. Have you checked the account settings on your Pre to make sure the account is set as IMAP and not POP? If the email was set as POP by accident, that could explain why your email folders are not synchronizing.
For the PDF viewer, you are correct that you cannot delete PDF files from the view list, and unfortunately I don't have access to a 1.3.1 device to see if it was possible then. At this time, managing PDF files is best done by connecting your Pre via USB to a computer and manually deleting files there.
