Feature restore request. (allow locked and grouped objects to be able to tagged.

In CS2, using the direct selection tool, I'm able to select and tag the image even if it's grouped and locked, no script needed at all, no sweat and fast!
Furthermore this XML element can also be moved freely in the structure hierarchy after tagged and remains grouped and locked.
In CS3 and CS4,
I can't do that.
It will give a warning message "Cannot modify elements that contain locked content, or are contained by locked content. Please unlock or check out the content and try again."
So need to write script to unlock the image's parent first, and then tag and locked the object back automatically.
(This script is essential so as to prevent any unintentional and accidental change on the page layout if it's done manually)
But to make matter worse, grouped objects will need to also find out all these ancestors and have them unlocked first!
It creates alot of hassle! Really being user-unfriendly in CS3/CS4 when doing such a simple xml tagging task.
PLEASE please restore the wonderful CS2 feature back in the next version of Indesign.
MILLIONS of thanks!!

I'd suggest you submit your suggestion through the iTunes application feedback page. It's more likely to be seen by the iTunes development group that way.

  • Time machine restored files are locked and can't unlock them

After upgrading to an SSD, i was having problems with restoring files from Timemachine. i fiexed that by naming my ssd drive the same as the drive that was backedup using time machine. now, i can't seem to edite any of the files restored in Documents from the backup. not can i edit or add content inside the folders withing documents. i dont know whats going on. they appear lock and there is no way to unlock them. it says i will need to duplicate the items!
i'll run a permissions verify once. in the mainwhile, if u guys know about this please let me know. thanks.

    Stay calm!
Ok- saying 'locked' besides their name when you open it is Lion-speak for the fact that it hasn't been edited in a while. It should, once you try and edit it, pop up a dialogue offering you the chance to duplicate or unlock the file. In the instance that the second option isn't available, try some or all of the following:
-As the poster above said, try doing a get-info (cmd i) on a file/folder and seeing if it's locked. Uncheck it if it is. If you find they are ALL locked, you can change it on multiple items at once by selecting them and pressing cmd alt i
-If that didn't help, try looking at the permission at the bottom of the get-info pane. Does it say you have read-write access? If it doesn't, unlock these options with the little padlock at the bottom and change it so that you do.
-You can also try going to a high-level folder (namely, one with a  lot of stuff in) and doing what I just described, then under the read-write permission hit the little cog-symbol and choose 'apply to enclosed items'. See if that helps.
-My final suggestion would be to find a free application called ACL fix. This helps repair dodgy or messed--up permissions using a simple drag and drop interface. Download that, and drag the affected folders onto it as per the instructions. Hopefully it should fix everything up.
Try all that, then let me know what's what

  • Ps CS6 Request: Allow clipping of Group to underlying layer

A non-Group layer can be clipped to an underlying Group, but I was surprised to find that the inverse relationship, i.e. a Group clipped to an underlying layer, is not possible. A workaround is to convert Group to Smart Object then clip the SO to the underlying layer.
Please enable clipping of Group to underlying layer.

I think the reality is that there needs to be way more pressure to create such a feature before it has a chance of being actioned.  A good example was a recent thread that urged that the brush panel was completely revamped.  That had a huge rush of support with dozens of people adding to the thread, and to the feature request ob Photoshop.com
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6084985
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/custom_brushes_sub_menus
I have no way of knowing, but I suspect that issue has a substantually better chance of being actioned than the one in this thread.  We have been told in the past that apparently small changes can need a huge amount of work because of the huge size and complexity of Photoshop, and that is completely believable.
So all I can suggest is that you make a feature request here:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
And post a link to it back here and hope people go and add their 'me too' to it.  Personally I find the various work arrounds easy and quick enough, so I wouldn't ne upset if it never happened.

  • All objects property node and grouped objects

    Hi
I am trying to position a the objects on my GUI in the centre of the screen using property nodes. However, I do not want to have to have a property node for every decoration, image and control. Is there a way that I can group all the objects and then use a property node to position them? I have tried using the all objects property node but none of the indexes seems to apply to my group of objects.
    Help please!
    Many thanks.
    John
p.s. i have uploaded my test vi's. The chart, decoration and exit button have been grouped. use the control on check.vi to set the object to move.

Tab pages are a nice way to group GUI objects.
    Instead of using a decoration,
    use a tab control
Remove all but the first tab
    Hide the tab
Set the proprties of the tab control and the control on that page will move, hide, show along with the tab control.
    I hope that helps,

  • I want format, restore my hard drive and then reload my LR4, will my tags / keywords be lost when I reload LR4?

    Has anybody done this before?

You don't mention whether you are using a mac or windows machine...
When you format your hard drive everything on it is totally erased.
When you restore it, you restore your operating system only (I'm assuming you are using the OS restore files not restoring from a backup because if you are restoring from a backup then there isn't much point...you will be restoring all the cruft, too). If you have a backup on an external drive, and are on a mac, if you have a time machine backup, you can restore the OS and then boot into the time machine backup and restore all of your apps and files (minus system settings) and you will be in good shape. This can take a while but it works fine.
If you are using windows, there is probably a similar procedure but you should get comfortable with it before you format (in either case).

  • Pros And Cons of Subforms and Groups?

Does anyone know of any pros and cons related to how things are grouped, either via an object group or a subform? Are there any specific reasons to use groups and not subforms - subforms and not groups?
For those who care to know a little more, not just questions...
In designing my forms I have taken this approach:
Groups (created by selecting Layout > Group) - I use groups for grouping simple objects (Text, Lines, Rectangles, etc.) which build the "static" portion of the form.
Subforms (created by drawing, or "wrapping" objects together) - I use Subforms for field objects (Text Fields, Numeric Fields, Decimal Fields, Check Boxes, Radio Buttons, Date/Time Fields, etc.) which act as the "live" or "dynamic" portion of the form.
I like this way of organizing the objects. It seems to make "sense" at least to me, and it also helps in terms of aligning objects, and so on. However, of course, it is not necessary to segregate the objects this much. So what is the preferred or recommended method? All opinions or suggestions are welcome!

Actually, there's a big difference between using groups and subforms to relate objects to each other although if you don't use any scripting and/or data binding, you probably wouldn't notice much difference.
Once you get into scripting and/or data binding, the use of groups and subforms makes a significant difference because groups (which are actually <area> XFA objects) are "invisible" when it comes to scripting and data binding.
This means that if, on a page, you had 4 text fields, each named TextField1/2/3/4, and TextField1/2 were grouped while TextField3/4 were wrapped in a subform (named "Subform") and you needed to access these text fields from the context of the page, you would do:
    TextField1 OR TextField2
because they're grouped with an <area> tag which is transparent in the Object Model. If, on the other hand, you needed to access the 3rd and 4th text field, you would do:
    Subform.TextField3 OR Subform.TextField4
because subforms are defined in the XFA Scripting Object Model.
The use of groups and subforms also affects data binding. That is, it affects the way XML data imported into your form is used to populate values of fields. For instance, if your data looked like this:
    <data>
    <TextField1>1</TextField1>
    <TextField2>2</TextField2>
    <TextField3>3</TextField3>
    <TextField4>4</TextField4>
    </data>
and your form had TextField1/2 grouped into a group named "Group", TextField3/4 wrapped into a subform named "Subform" and then another TextField3/4 which were siblings to the Subform and Group objects but placed
prior to the Subform object in the object hierarchy, importing the above data into the form would populate TextField1/2 in the Group object and TextField3/4 which are siblings to the Group and Subform objects -- not TextField3/4 which are wrapped in the Subform object.
Now let's say your data was as follows:
    <data>
    <TextField1>1</TextField1>
    <TextField2>2</TextField2>
    <Subform>
      <TextField3>3</TextField3>
      <TextField4>4</TextField4>
    </Subform>
    </data>
This would result in populating TextField1/2 in the Group and, as opposed to the first scenario, TextField3/4 which are wrapped in the Subform object.
This is a very simple example to prove a point. If you think about it a little, the implications -- especially concerning data binding -- are quite large. To help illustrate this further, I've attached a sample form with the hierarchy I described earlier as well as two data files: data1.xml is the first one I described in this post, while data2.xml is the second one. Try importing both into the form to see the differences in the results and then compare the object hierarchy in the Hierarchy palette with the nesting of the data nodes in the data files.
Finally, there's also the fact that subform instances can be created and deleted dynamically at runtime while groups cannot have instances. For dynamic forms, this is a big consideration.

  • Locking and non-persistent changes in cache

I have a question regarding Optimistic locking and modifying objects in the cache.
I have a case where one client modifies a (persistent) object, but since it is a temporary change, which should not be persisted, it is not within a UOW. However, when the next client reads the same object, it gets the modified value and not the original value, which is not correct.
For the moment, there are no locking defined for the descriptors, but would Optimistic locking help in this case? Does this not only protect when you try to write a change on a stale object to the database?
If you run the risk that someone might change an object, and consequently change the cache and how the object is seen by others, should the reads be performed in a UOW?
    Regards,
    Katarina

Yes, if you may make changes to the object you must make the changes in the unit of work, even if you do not intend to commit the changes. Reads from the session are strictly read-only.

  • Unable to create Business Partner - Organization and Group

    Hello Experts,
I am learning SAP CRM, I am working on version 5.0. I am not able to create BP in Org and Group, but I am able to create the person. I made few changes in BP role, since then I am not able to create BP in Org and Group...these both are deactivated...
    Plz help me...
All valid answers would be given points....that's sure...!!!
    Thanks all..Happy Posting...

    Hi
Check the roles that are not hidden.
Are the categories Org and Group assigned to them?
To do so, the path is IMG>Cross-Application Components> SAP Business Partner--> Business Partner > Basic Settings> Business Partner Roles-->Define BP Roles
Here choose the option BP Role categories, now double click on the role you will see if it is permitted with the categories Org and Group.
Incase you done have the Org or Group checked for your visible BP Roles, it will not permit to create Orgs and Groups. Check Org or Group category and you should be able to create BPs in these categories.
    Hope this helps

  • GOOD FEATURE ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: Locking Projects

I have an excellent Feature Enhancement request for iLife '08 & wanted to post it somewhere in hopes it gets to the hands of the right people that can make things happen so I'm not wasting 5 minutes posting.
I (like anyone) like saving my iLife Printed Books, Calendars, etc. on my MacBook so I may always order more copies if needed. However, I fear somewhere somehow someone will be playing on my Mac & will accidentally move stuff around or even delete text / words / layouts / effects from an iLife printed project of mine which I ordered & may want to reorder years down the road.
*I'd like an advanced options area with options typically displayed in any kind of publishing software. Options in mind include "Group Objects", Ungroup Objects, Lock, Unlock, etc.*
Does anyone else here agree with me??

To add to Larry's suggestion....passwords and protected accounts are always good:
    1. Put your iPhoto Library(ies) on an external drive and eject or disconnect the drive when you are not using the computer. Then, no one else can get into your projects. I have ten iPhoto Libraries on my external drive.
    2. Make an iPhoto Library just for your projects and put that one on an external drive. That way, your photos are available to whoever wants to view them, but the projects library can be left alone.
    3. Have you considered not letting others access your computer without your permission? If they are not responsible enough, setting up different user accounts would be the way to go. You can limit their access to your files.
If you want to suggest that Apple do something more global, feel free to make your suggestion here, as Larry recommended:

  • Keyboard lock and password request

    Hi,
Can anyone please help me with the following:
When taking a call my key pad is not locking and I keep putting people on hold/mute etc when talking to them. Also voice mail keeps requesting I set up voice mail when I have already done so.
    Cheers
    Jon

    Hi,
Keypad, When you put the phone to your ear, the proximity sensor detects you and kills the screen so you don't hit any keys while talking. It sounds like this is not happening in your case. When you pull the phone away from your face, do you see the screen light up or does it appear that it is already lit?
Is the phone in a cover? This may be effecting the sensor.
Reset the phone. Hold Home and Sleep buttons till you see the Apple logo and see if that resolves the issue.
If it still is not working you could try Restoring the phone, this will enable the OS to be reloaded onto the phone incase there is an issue preventing the sensor from working correctly.
Finally if that doesn't resolve it there may be a hardware issue with the sensor and the phone needs to be checked by Apple.
Voicemail, this is a carrier controlled feature. You could try calling your own voicemail and go into the setup area to make sure that it is set up correctly or you could call your carrier and have them check that the voicemail is set up correctly.
    Hope this helps

  • Bought an ipod 4g at a pawn shop, it was locked and disabled but the guy said I could restore it, it didn't work and he won't take back the ipod what do i do?

I bought an ipod 4g at a pawn shop, it was locked and disabled but the guy said I could restore it by connecting it to my computer and pressing the home and sleep buttons at the same time, it didn't work and he won't take back the ipod what do i do?
When I try connecting it to my computer itunes opens and says I cannot connect to the ipod because it is disabled, enter passcode on ipod. The ipod is locked and disabled and will not allow me to try and put in a passcode, which I wouldn't be able to do because I have no idea what it might have been.
I downloaded the newest version of Itunes, restarted computer, connected ipod, nothing, held every button down for what seems like forever, nothing. I think I have been screwed by the pawnshop. Is there anyway of restoring this thing or is now just a $60.00 paperweight?

torreto44. that does not work with a Disabled iPod. Jim's gave the correct answer for a Disabled iPod
    torreto44 wrote:
Hey man don't worry bout it ! Hold the power button and the circle button for a long time and it should reboot meaning the iPod will restart and u can set it up as yours with new apple i.d and password

  • How to transport Enqueue and Dequeue Objects / Lock Objects / R3

    Hi Gurus,
i have created two lock Objects.
I transported those objects in Q system but the table tab has no objects.
But in Dev every thing is correct.
Could you please indicate how i can get the objects correctly transported?
    Thanks

Easy and best approach is by getting them re transported by using transport of copy request (Type of request)
    1) Get the Transport of copy request created by basis team / urself under your user.
    2) Go to SE10 and highlight the request and click on include objects icon
    3) Later in the pop up window select the radio button which mentions "Include free objects"
    4) Then in the next screen mention the details based on the attributes of the Enque and deque object or else provide the package name and execute and in the next screen choose the concerned enque and deque objects and include them in the request.
    5) Transport the Transport of copy to quality.
    Also, more easiest is.
Find out the task of the request with with the enque and deque objects were created with (if more than one select all), and then include the tasks in the transport of copy and transport it to next system
If you are not able to do the above two steps then i think the object is $TMP object, kindly cross check.
    Cheers

  • Request and Response Objects

    Hi,
I was told that there is a limit for the request and response object sizes and crossing them will throw IllegalStateException. Could some one explain whether this is true and what is the maximum size of the object allowed?
    Thanks,
    Des

As far as I know no such limit is defined by the API. There will always be a limit due to implementation and underlying architecture. Which particular implementation of request/response are you concerned about?
