Featured News counter & description location

Can the location of the description and counter/arrows be changed for each image in featured news composition widget? For example, I'd like the description to be aligned with the left side of each image and below it. If the images are different sizes, each description would be in a different place. It seems that the descriptions and arrows are stuck in one place for the set of images. Thank you!

Thank you Aish. Sorry, I meant slideshow. I understand how to move the description and counters but I want them to be in a different location for each separate image. When I move them, they stay in that same place no matter which image is up - they may something different for each image, but their location is the same. So let's say for (square) Image 1, I want the left side of the description to line up with the left side of the image. Then for (vertical rectangle) ) Image 2, the left side of it is further to the right, the description is in the same place as it was for Image 1, too far to the left. If i move it so that it is right for Image 2, then it is in the wrong location for Image 1.

X Series is here – New Counter Features!

The new X Series Multifunction DAQ devices have been announced – check them out here.
I’m posting here because I think X Series has several new counter features that many on this forum have been looking for. The user manual
will have all of these details and more with timing diagrams but I
thought I’d summarize a few of the sexier features and open it up for
comments/feedback.
First off – what stayed the same between
M Series/TIO counters and X series counters? The pinouts between M and
X series are the same so the PFI lines and default counter pinouts are
the same. The DAQmx programming is the same (you’ll need DAQmx 9.0, it
should be up this afternoon) and all the functionality that was
supported by M Series is supported by X Series, though a few behaviors
may have changed. Counters are still 32 bit.
Now on to
the fun stuff – the big one that I tend to overlook: X Series has 4
counters per board! They all have the same features and Freq Out is
still there too (with an additional 20MHz timebase).
Timebases:
X Series devices have 100MHz, 20MHz and 100kHz timebases. Note the
difference between 80MHz on M series and 100MHz on X series. DAQmx will
take care of the difference for you, unless you were programming in
terms of ticks and hardcoded in numbers based off of a 80MHz clock.
Counter
FIFOs: X Series has a 127 sample FIFO per counter. When combined with
PCIe/PXIe, our benchmarked buffered counter rates went from ~350k on M series
(with a 2 sample FIFO) with a single counter to 10MHz on all four
counters (160MB/s streaming rate). The FIFO also allows us to implement…
Buffered Counter Output: Probably my favorite new feature. You can
now use a multi point write on counters and write out a buffer of pulse
values. There are two timing modes for this: implicit and sample
clocked. With implicit timing, every idle/active pair you write is
generated as a pulse. You can vary the idle/active time for every pulse
in your pulse train. Check out the "Gen Dig Pulse
Train-Buff-Implicit-Cont.vi" shipping example. With sample clock
timing, the idle/active time are updated every time a sample clock is
received. Check out the "Gen Dig Pulse Train-Buff-Ext Clk-Cont.vi"
shipping example. These modes give you much more control over your
waveform – now everything about it can be hardware timed. Also, I’ve
benchmarked the output rates at 10MHz on all four counters at the same
time.
Finite pulse train with one counter: Each X Series
counter has an Embedded counter paired with it. The embedded counter
isn’t directly programmable, but it does allow you to do counter
operations on one counter that used to take two. A finite pulse train
used to take two counters – one to generate the pulse train and one to
gate it. Now a counter generates the pulse train, and its embedded
counter counts the TCs and disables the counter when it reaches the
number of pulses to generate.
More sample clocked
measurement modes: Edge counting and encoder measurements always
supported sample clocks, all other counter measurements were implicitly
(timed by the measurement waveform) timed. With the addition of the
sample clock terminal to the counters now all counter measurements
(except for semi-period) support sample clock timing. You can now get
the pulse width of the pulse just before the sample clock rather than
getting all the pulse widths and figuring out where they happened in
time. Why not semi period? We added a new “pulse” measurement instead
that returns a sample that contains the high and low time (or high and
low ticks, or frequency and duty cycle) so for each sample clock edge
you get a full pulse spec. Semi period still supports the same
measurements it used to, just not sample clocked. Speaking of sample
clocked…
Sample clocked frequency/period measurement
with averaging: X Series still supports the three frequency modes: Low
frequency 1 counter, 2 counter High Frequency and 2 counter Large
Range. In addition it supports sample clocked averaging. This is
essentially a method that is high accuracy method based on the sample
clock rate. With the same measurement time it has the same accuracy as
the Large range mode but it doesn’t take two counters. Note, counters
do not have their own internal sample clock so you have to provide them
with an external signal.

Hi guys,
I drew up a schematic of one of the applications I need to get running in our lab. To recap:
1)      We have several piezo controllers for nanopositioning of samples under a microscope, some of them driven by a digital circuit that handles coordinate programming and trigger line programming (for syncing detectors to the piezo motion), other controllers are analog and need to be driven by voltages.
2)      We would like to emulate the behavior of the digital controller using the analog HW (we have much more analog controllers than digital ones).
3)      The basic implementation is like this (see also slide one in the attached pdf file) and runs perfectly:
a.       A global pulsetrain ticks with a certain frequency
b.      At each tick a voltage is written on an AO line and this tick is also sent to an RTSI line to sync multiple detectors
4)      To fully emulate the digital controller we also need to implement 4 trigger lines that exist on the digital controller. These trigger lines allow for fully programmable pulsetrain output that is in sync with the movement of the piezo. Slide two in the attached pdf illustrates what is needed. These trigger lines allow for much more intricate syncing of our detectors (only measure during certain parts of the motion instead of all the time).
After a lot of thinking and experimenting with the existing M series boards back here I came to the conclusion that the desired behavior is not possible with an M series board since they only allow for the output of “simple” pulsetrains with a given frequency.
Looking at this webpage (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/9384#toc3) however, I think that the X series board would offer exactly what we need since it allows for buffered counter output that enables definition of very complex pulstrain “shapes”.
Looking at the schemes I provided, could someone confirm that the X-series covers our needs? If this is the case, we would be interested in purchasing these kinds of boards.

Got an Error Message using the Featured News Composition Widget regarding the locations are too large to rasterize. Cannot Preview page.

I keep getting an Error Message when Previewing a page that has the Feature News Composition Widget. The Message says that the locations are too large to Rasterize and I need to make it smaller in size. I tried all of this burt nothing worked.

Many thanks for your 'correct' and prompt answer. I tried to make it CORRECT on the Forum, but after clicking the link, did not know where to go since this is my first time using this forum.
As it turned out, I was indeed using the font (Georgia) but did not realize that this particular font can also be used as a System font as well. So I chose the wrong Georgia font which was the System font. I corrected this issue throughout and made doubly sure that I used the Web Font Georgia.

Link not working in Featured News Composition

All of the links in this news panel (in the bottom half of the page) work apart from the Barbie one at the bottom:

Any idea why it's not working, whilst all the others are?

Hello,
I checked your site and found that there is some component that is overlapping the featured news section (for the link that says "life size barbie dreamhouses to open..."), and hence you are not able to click on the link. This component may be an empty textframe, rectangle etc. or the frame for another component being too large.
Please go to the design mode in Muse for this page and locate this component, and remove or resize it accordingly, after which the link would become clickable.
You may open the page in design mode and "select all" for ease of locating it.

Bevel effect moves Featured News buttons down and right after update

After I applied the update today, all of the Featured News buttons with the Bevel Effect have been moved down and right about 1/4" and I cannot seem to fix. I used the Bevel feature for all buttons in the Rollover, Mouse Down, and Active states. Before I applied the update, the bevel feature worked great, but now, as you can see from the image, the buttons have now moved down and to the right. I've even tried deleting the entire widget and starting over, but no fix.
The attached image shows the Featured News buttons. The top button is in ACTIVE state with the Bevel effect activated. The "Step 3" button shows the Rollover state with the Bevel effect activated. All other buttons show the NORMAL state - NO BEVEL. Before the update was applied, the buttons would appear in the same location as the NORMAL state, but now the buttons appear lower and to the right as you can see.

I'm having similar problems - and now I cannot remove the bevel from my buttons and they are shifting all over the place!

Count and location of user sessions

Good Morning,
We are trying to revamp several front ends and wish to identify which ones are being consistently used and the others that are not. In our mind the front end that is being used quite often is an indication that only some tweeking would be necessary while the others that are ignored or worked around need a total revamping or rebuild. I am the first to admit that I am not very fluent in writing a script such as this and am requesting some help in this matter.
I was looking at the v$session with the userid and such and my guess is that is where I should start in the analysis or does someone out there have a better idea to attack this problem? This is a production environment and would like to get a count and location of each that is/ was being used when the query is run.
Your help / suggestions in this matter would be much appreciated.

This was a general statement to start a discussion. What type of information would I need to enable this query to be written? Another thought I am not looking for specific components of an application but just the totals of each being used throughout the system. I am almost positive we are using an application server here. I am new here so I have to look into that. When you say what type of front-end app do you mean the name of the software such as visual basic etc or is it something else you are looking for?

Windows 8 installation error: "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files."

I recently tried testing Server 2012 for installation and I had a major issue. Windows 8 also uses the same method for installation so this should also apply to Windows 8. I thought this might be helpful for other people who have the same
problem. My setup is a 1U server with no DVD drive, no hard drives, and only USB. I have a new hard drive that I wanted to install Server onto, so I put it in and ran the installer off a thumb drive. I kept receiving the following error when
I tried to format the hard drive and proceed with the installation:
"We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files."
After hours of troubleshooting, I determined my problem was I was using a thumb drive to install it, and Windows didn't like it. Some people had similar issues when similar devices were plugged in (i.e. external hard drives, SD cards, CF cards, etc).
In my case, it was the installation drive itself was a thumb drive. I ended up digging up an external DVD drive and placed the installation onto a DVD. Worked flawlessly. Now I am up and running.
I tried
the steps here to no avail.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problems.

How to change the order of the tabs in featured news?

Hi,
I use the 'Featured News' widget on my company website and it has 10 tabs. The newest item is at the top but when I add a new tab it goes to the bottom and I can find no way of changing the order of the tabs so that everytime I add new news I have to copy each tab and it's content down one place in order to get an empty tab at the top to put the new news item in. This takes an unneccesssarily long period of time. Can someone please let me know if there is an easy way to change the order of the tabs?

Just click on the title tab until it is isolated (one click before the text is highlighted) and move the tab to the position you want.

I've done this in the past but found that the position of the tab in terms of it's place in the hierachy doesn't change so if I move the top tab down one, the way you've described and then upload the page I find that the second tab down (which was the first previously) displays first. How can I change the 'position of the tabs interms of their hierachy in the widget?

Featured news composition widget causing crash?

It seems there is a problem with the featured news widget. Actually several... First, you are unable to replace the photos by clicking on a folder icon at the top like you can do with slideshows. To get around this, I just deleted the stock images and filled the frame with a new image, so that’s not too big a problem, it just seems you should be able to somehow change the existing picture rather than deleting and adding a whole new image.
The next issue I encountered is that I can’t edit the bars to the left together. I am having to go to each individual “bar” and change all the states. Also, when I clicked the plus button to add new “bars” it would add only blank bars and a blank frame to the right, so I would have to copy the text box from the bars above and paste them to the new bars, plus also copy the stock image and text from one of the first three boxes to the right and paste that as well to each new box. It seems that when you click the plus button it should fill in the same contents as the “bar” above it, right?
Then, the major issue: once I changed all the states and had it all set up, I tried to save the site and it gave me an error message and didn't save any of the changes I had just made. I know a lot of other people have had this happen. Luckily this is pretty much the only change I made to the site since the last time I saved it, so it makes me think that somehow the widget is the problem and reason for the crash.

How to use new feature "New Picture"?

SDDM 4.1.0.866 has a new feature ("New Picture"), icon to the right of "New Note" icon. Using this icon, I can insert an external image in a relational diagram, but when I go through the same motions on a logical diagram, the image does not show up. Am I not using the new feature correctly, or does it apply only to relational diagrams? Thanks.

it should be possible to add image to diagrams in all models. It appears there is a problem for diagrams in logical model.

Just to add on to the inputs....
Ensure that the USERTEMP1 buffer is cleared before a value is entered. We faced this issue wherein the previous S.Loc value was left as it is in the USERTEMP1, resulting in an incorrect assignment.
I also suspect that you might need to run the process of identifying the enhancement point and populating the S.Loc value into the memory and then to USERTEMP1 for different transactions separately. Not sure if this is the standard process, but atleast we did it that way.
For eg, we faced issues during Goods Issue from MIGO, as also during 301, 309 and 311 movement types. So execute these transactions too once the development is done and if the USERTEMP1 field isnt getting populated..
FMDERIVE TRACE was the most important tool during our tryst with S.Loc mapping into USERTEMP1....Ensure that you set it everytime during testing for this S.Loc, post development

I have tried to use this feature.
Three boxes appear to add titles. So I deleted one, now I have two, but one has fill the other remains white, when I click to the other one that goes back to white and the other is filled.
I want any other colour but white, is that possible?

the color of the bkg you place the widget does not effect the content area of the featured news, unless of course you decide to make the bkg of the featured news content area transparent. So, be sure you are working in the content area of the featured news box you have open and check the "states" panel on the right. Choose your colors for each state (there are 4 of course) and you should have no problems.
