Features Mirrored upon Import into Acrobat 3D

In order to bring SolidWorks 2007 assemblies into A3D, I have been doing a screen capture using the SolidWorks eDrawing viewer (unfortunately, no SW2007 support yet in opening files directly in Toolkit, even after installing the update - Hopefully version 8 will resolve).
The parts in the assembly have extruded text molded in, which identifies the part. They look fine in eDrawings, but when brought into A3D, the extruded text comes through as mirrored. Not sure if other features are mirrored too, due to a symetrical part configuration, but the text definitely is.
Any idea what is causing this and ,more mportant, is there a fix?
This problem may be similar to the 30May2006 posting (How to mirror objects in A3D Toolkit), but didn't see any responses.

Index links do not import into Acrobat 5.0

I created a long indexed document in InDesign CS2, the entries appear in the index, and there is a ^ where each entry is marked as being in the index. I generated the index with the book (405 pages).
When I export the document to .pdf using Acrobat 5.0 the Table of Contents works fine and when selected takes me to the correct area. When I select an entry from the index, I am taken to the 1st page of the Main Table of Contents (the first page of the document).
I took the document into my personal copy of InDesign CS3 and import it into Acrobat 8.0. I experience the same problem but the TOC also does not link.
Any Suggestions.

Application ID reserved error upon import into workspace

I have two workspaces, development and production, in one APEX (3.0.1) environment on 11.1.0.6.
I have two applications, one 1 page long and one 33 pages long. The 1 page application is an anonymous login with a jump button to the login page of the 33 page application.
I normally export from development and import into production to make an upgrade of the applications. I can do this successfully with the longer application, upon import I ask to replace the target workspace application ID. When I try this with the 1 page application, I get an error about the application ID being reserved.
The application IDs are normal numbers.
33 pages - development workspace/appl id 107 ==> production workspace/appl id 111 - Works
1 page - development workspace/appl id 119 ==> production workspace/appl id 121 - Fails
Luckily the problem is on the 1 page application. I just redo the edits from development in production.
Any suggestions how to resolve the error so I don't have to re-edit? I'm fearful that it may start happening on the bigger application. That will not be an easy one to re-edit each time I have a release.

I solved this but I don't know how I caused it.
In the export repository in the target workspace, the Application Exists column had a check. I deleted the row from the repository, and I was able to import into the workspace and change the application number to the one which matched the Application Exists number.
How I got that check mark to show up is a different story. I can't remember doing anything to cause that. Maybe it was the initial import of the application to that then unused number? At least I know how to fix it now.

"Manually" creating U3D files to import into Acrobat XI

Has anyone here ever successfully tried to "manually" create a U3D file and open it in a Acrobat XI to save it as a PDF file?
I am currently coding an U3D export filter for our self-developed CAD application. The resulting files (containing simple polygon meshes) can be opened and displayed by a commercial U3D viewer (SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer 7.0), but Acrobat X and Acrobat XI cannot open them. They only display useless standard "Unable to open" message.
Sample U3D files from the web open correctly in Acrobat XI although I fail to see any relevant difference when comparing them to the files my filter creates.
Our U3D files only feature a default view and a few, simple polygon meshes created using CLOD Mesh Declaration and CLOS Base Mesh Continuation. Everything is correctly contained in modifier chains. The file does not use compression.
I checked the "U3D Supported Elements" documents from Adobe and I'm sure to have met all conditions therein.
Any help or tip would be very much appreciated because I am out of ideas what to try...

This file opens correctly in SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer 7.0, but not in Acrobat XI Pro. A similiar file destilled from a sample file found on the web, however, works:

The only difference I can see is that is uses compression and a CLOD Progressive Mesh Continuation instead of a CLOD Base Mesh Continuation. But according to the latest version of "U3D Supported Elements", this should not make any difference.
Any idea why Merge1.u3d does not open? Please?!

Having trouble creating a PDF to import into Acrobat from Livecycle.

My Livecycle document saved as a pdf can't be read by Acrobat. I need to add text to a pdf that can't be read by Acrobat, but can be read by Livecycle. I would like to import to Livecycle and save as a pdf that can be read and modified by Acrobat. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Once you have the WORD file in a PDF as you have done, try the Forms>Start Form Wizard (assuming you have this on the MAC). As I understand it, you can not create a PDF from DOC within Acrobat on the MAC since it requires PDF Maker that is not part of the MAC Acrobat system. Some MAC users should be by eventually to clarify or correct my comments.

General error upon import into fcp

I can import video into my existing timelines with no problem... when i create a new sequence i can drag the clip into the timeline, but I get a general error message and a red screen that reads " display unavailable. close and reopen window to restore." tried closing and reopening a dozen times to no avail.

Is your drive formatted macosextended? Can you edit bars and tone into a new sequence? What happens if you duplicate an existing sequence, select all and delete? Can you then edit into this sequence?
Have you tried deleting your fcp preferences? Get preference manager from www.digitalrebellion.com to do this.
Have you installed or updated any new software or hardware on your system recently?

Field dominance upon import into fcp problem

having changed the project setttings in livetype to comply to pal video with lower field dominance so that i can use it in my dv-based projects, i've tried both to open the livetype project directly into final cut pro and also to render the movie in livetype and import that into final cut pro.
in both cases, fcp sets field dominace to upper field.
on the cinema display lcd screen that doesn't seem to make any difference, but surprises lurke when outputting to dvd ....
in an attempt to bypass the problem i've changed project settings to 'none' and rendered the movie again.
in this case too, fcp insists the imported movie is upper field dominant...
is this an annomality in fcp's import routines and does it assume that all pal video that is not dv is upperfield dominant or is there a setting in eithere program that can fix this problem?

Live Type fonts break up upon import into NLE

So I create a title in Live Type - Preset: CCIR 601 NTSC sq. 4:3, Field Dom: Lower, with alpha channel - nothing major, just a little effect on a white font. I render it out and look at it in the preview window - perfect, crystal clear! However, when I import it into whatever NLE I am using, the import becomes jagged, like a field order problem. I use AVID MC 2.6 and Final Cut Pro 5. Regardless in both they do the same.
I have a sony trintron monitor and turned it on after reading a similar post. Same thing. Any ideas?

The AVID editors I work with use the Live Type graphics I create all the time. These LT graphics incorporate movement, effects, textures and they all work in AVID.
The AVID used here is the Symphony Version #5.
To match the AVID Import Settings we have here just click options. [It's in the lower left hand of the box]
Then set as follows:
1. Aspect + Ratio Pixel Aspect>select 601 non-square
2. Color Levels > select 601
3. File Field Order > select Even (Lower Field)
4. Alpha > select Invent Existing
One more suggestion is to change your deck preferences to drop frame and use the default settings in LT.
Please report back whether this works for you or not.

Lumix GH4 - AVCHD clips 16.5 hours in the past upon import.

I have a Panasonic Lumix GH4 (firmware V2.0). I just discovered that all my clips shot in AVCHD have an incorrect creation date upon import into FCPX (10.1.4). All files have a creation time/date exactly 16 hours and 30 minutes behind the actual recording time.
The clock on my camera is correct time. The date shows as being correct when I review the clips on the GH4. But when importing to FCPX, the date in the media import window shows the creation date as exactly 16.5 hrs in the past. I have tried this on my Macbook Pro, iMac and just returned from the local Apple store where I tried it on their Mac Pro, with a Genius observing the process. Exact same result.
This ONLY occurs when the clips are AVCHD format. The GH4 offers AVCHD, MP4, MOV. All clips shot in mp4 or mov show the correct creation date. It is only the AVCHD clips that have this issue.
For example, if is shoot short 3 clips at exactly noon (12:00pm) today. Quickly switching the format between the clips. Upon import to FCPX the mov and the mp4 show a 12:00pm January 26 creation date. The avchd clip show 5:30pm, January 25 date.
This makes a total organizational mess when I have dozens of multi cam clips from other cameras that do sort properly by date.
Has anyone else seen this ?

Would someone mind just shooting a few seconds of video in AVCHD, pop out the SD card, and import media into FCPX and check the Creation date please. Any results would be appreciated. (BTW: This has to be v2.0 of the GH4 firmware).

Can't import another file into Acrobat

When I have opened an PDF into Acrobat (11.0.0 ; Mac OS 10.10.2) and I want to add another file in the PDF, Acrobat Chrashes.
So I choose Add page and choose the Finder to select my file,
I get an spinning wheel, I don't see any file on my finder
and had to force quit Acrobat.
Does anybody has a solution for this problem?

Please check for updates from the Help menu to run the latest patch of Acrobat XI i.e. 11.0.10
Then, try importing files and check.

Importing Existing Stamps into Acrobat 9

Does anyone know how to load up an existing list of stamps into Acrobat 9? I know how to create and edit stamps. What I am trying to achieve is to simply cut and paste an esiting folder containing custom stamps into a new installation of acrobat 9. Previous versions of acrobat allowed you to do this by pasting your folder into the ENU/Stamps folder but this does not seem to be the same with Acrobat 9.

Thanks for your prompt response. I have not yet tried to paste anything into Acrobat 9. I am in the process of changing a user across from their old machine that uses Acrobat 7 to a new machine using Acrobat 9 and thought there must be a way to get their existing Acrobat 7 stamps transferred without having to re-create each one in Acrobat 9.

Hang upon importing footage into premiere cs4 using iMac

hello,
Ive been trying to import some footage into adobe premiere cs4 on the iMac. This is the first time I've ever used adobe premiere on the imac. When i try to import anything (ie: import an avi file, sequence, or old adobe premiere project) the program just hangs for hours.
I had been working on a project in adobe premiere on the windows. Then i took that project and transferred it over to the mac by copying and pasting the files through a server. When i try to import anything at all, again, it hangs.

AVCHD UpShift is a Windows-based conversion utility from NewBlueFX that allows batch coversion of AVCHD originated footage into high bitrate MPEG .m2t files for editing any HD / MPEG2 capable NLE.
FFDshow is a free, Open Source collection of codecs, including AVCHD.[28]
Another product is CoreAVC, a reasonably cheap and quick h.264 decoder for Windows, which can decode AVCHD as well as a variety of other h.264 formats.
Nero Vision can convert AVCHD files to other formats such as MPEG-2 or AVI and can import them for use in video editing projects. Nero Vision can also export Sony's M2TS format to MPEG-4 files that can be viewed by Quicktime 7.

No video upon importing movies into iMovie?

I have had my MacBook less than a month and am still getting familiar with it. I took several video clips of my son on his skateboard this weekend with a Casio digital camera. It has an SD card. I imported the video using a USB adapter with the SD card. When I try to play back, I can hear the audio, but am seeing a blank white screen.

A white screen usually means no video codec is available for playback. Most Casio cameras use an AVI file container with M-JPEG video and either DVI ADPCM or Unsigned Integer audio. If you imported these into iPhoto, then I would expect both the m-JPEG/DVI ADPCM and M-JPEG/Unsigned Integer content to play back in the QT Player but only the M-JPEG/Unsigned Integer files to import into iMovie '08. The only question in my mind is whether you are saying your imported via USB directly to iPhoto or that an SD Card reader allowed you to import directly to iMovie '08. If the former, do you have Perian installed? If the latter, you need to check the imported file to see if iMovie attempted to perform some sort of a conversion during the camcorder import process in which case the regular QT components may or may not have been accessed.

Best export format for importing into After Effects or even back into Premiere

The opening, featuring a ribbon of videos, was created in After Effects, using Digieffects Freeform.
The issue is the poor quality of the videos that are featured in the opening -- compared to the high quality of videos from the original Premiere project., which you can see at the end of the clip.
To create the After Effects project, I exported a series of video clips from Premiere to mp4.
Then I imported them into AfterEffects.
The bottom line, and the purpose of this question, is I am thinking that MP4 was not the best choice for the Adobe Premiere export.
What is the best format to export video from in Premiere Pro CS5 to import into after effects, or to import into any other editing program, incuding importing right back into Adobe Premiere, if that is eever needed.

MP4
And any other settings that will result with the highest qualiity videos for importing.

Okay, here's where I stand at this point regarding exporting and/or dynamic linking between AfterEffects and Premiere.
I'm in After Effects. I create a composition I like. So I first tried the old fashioned way. I exported it into a MOV file with the animation preset. Millions of colors. Same frame rate as my Premiere project, which also uses MOV files with no problem.
Howver when I import the MOV file created by After effects, the NEW MOV file section of the premier project plays sluggish. And it also causes the videos that follow to play sluggish. And they are all MOV files at the same frame rate.
The same thing happens when I do a dynamic link between the two projects. A sluggish response starting with the After Effects dynamic link and affecting the MOV video files that follow.
It's a very short After Effects composition. About 3 second slong.
I have a very powerful computer built especially for CS5 and premiere --so that should not be an issue -- recently was in the top ten of the benchmark list.
Up to this point my video files have played perfectly layer upon layer with no problems.
Is there something I am not considering?
