Features not Exporting in InDesign CS6?

Hello, all!
I am relatively new to InDesign, but I'm trying to create an interactive PDF for my job where, when image A is rolled over, Image B appears (and then disappears when the curser is rolled off).  I've done a few tutorials and read up, as well as played around with the program itself, so I was pretty confidant.
My problem: Image A has a drop shadow, and is set to trigger Image B to appear and reappear on rollover/off, not click.  When I view the SWF preview, or export to SWF, everything looks and functions as expected.  However, when I try to export to an Interactive PDF (on my mac), Image A loses its drop shadow, and no longer works as rollover, so Image B never appears.
Oddly enough, Image A almost acts as if it's a click button, where a hidden transparent square appears around it when clicked on--but nothing happens.
Below is the intended appearance when the curser is rolled over Image A (which is the M!), with Image B as the text box/container:
Then the following two pictures are of the exported Interactive PDF file; Image A (M!) has no drop shadow, and in the first picture there is no rollover effect, and in the second picture, when Image A is clicked on (which was not the intended action) the box appears.
What's going on?  I've found that even in exporting, for example, a tutorial file from a lynda.com training exercise, once again, click actions work, but rollover never do, whether as a reveal or an image change, etc.
Thank you!

Agenda Light
I can see Agenda Light, but not Agenda Light Italic, which is included in the font family (if I'm saying that right).

  • Why won't Acrobat X Pro honor the margin (art box) from PDF's exported from InDesign CS6?

    Why won't Acrobat X Pro honor the margin (art box) from PDF's exported from InDesign CS6?
    When I export a PDF from InDesign CS6 with specific margins, Acrobat does not recognize the Art box. (I have PitStop Pro 11 for page box view)

    Thanks Steve,
    We are exporting PDF's as you indicate. I see the same thing. The boxes are all the size of the original InDesign document. The PDF art box should be predicated by the margins in InDesign. When we had CS3, this worked great. Now, it seems that there is a disconnect between the two Adobe products honoring the page box size. I have contacted the Adobe techs via chat, and they had no clue what I was referring to. I find it mystifying that Acrobat can not interpret the art box set in InDesign as margins.

  • Linotype Decoration Pi will not work with InDesign CS6

    Linotype Decoration Pi Font will not work with InDesign CS6. If I buy a new version from the Sdobr store, will it work?

    Has the font ever worked in CS6? If not, did it work in a previous version? Did it ever work in any version of ID using your current OS version? I ask the last question because I helped someone on another forum today that had a font that did not survive migration on their Mac. In their case, the font was selectable but the application would crash exporting to PDF or printing.
    I'm using a PC. It works here.
    It is listed along with the fonts that start with D here.

  • Fonts not showing in InDesign CS6

    Hi there,
    I've seen a similar question to this before through a Google search and I tried the advice listed such as placing the affected fonts in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\InDesign CS6\Fonts; as well as searching for fonts with a **after its name.  Doesn't work.  The files originated in CS5 and pops up saying there are two missing links (fonts) which are Avenir Book and Avenir Black.  I've done the "Find Font" and the only one that shows is Avenir Book.  Avenir Black isn't even there, even after re-installing and relocating to the new folder.  Secondly, even after I save the file after "finding" Avenir Book, upon re-opening it still says it's missing.  Is there anything else I can try-short of uninstalling InDesign CS6 (I still have CS5 installed)?  Also, I'm not that familiar with InDesign, it isn't a program I use much.
    Thanks!

    Is this the same computer where the files started out in CS5?
    There are probably quite a few different cuts of Avenir (certainly over the years it has been available as TT and T1 in both Windows and Mac formats, and I have an OpenType version here from Linotype). Some possibilities for why CS6 might not see a font are that you have installed a different version, you have more than one version installed or it is installed in more than one location, or that it is looking at a different internal name in CS6. Typically, if the fonts are showing as missing, but are, in fact installed, using Find Font and substituting the same font will solve the problem.

  • Data Export From InDesign CS6 to Excel Please Help

    Hi!
    I need to export text from a 416 page catalog into an excel document. The text is formatted with paragraph and character style sheets, but the text frames do not link together. Or is there a way to export the text from InDesign with the page number into a text file, then the text file into an Excel document. Thank you so much for your help!

    That is not possible. You're going from a "smart" layout application to a dumb one.
    I don't think you could even place it as a PDF file of the text into Word and have it work.

  • Blurry Interactive PDF when exporting from InDesign CS6

    Hi there, wondering if anyone can help me out with this question,
    I've created a new document in InDesign, with intent set to 'web'. I have set the page size to exactly the correct pixels that I need. I've inserted my image, which is 72dpi and the exact pixel size I need. Everything looks good, and seems to be correct.
    Problem occurs when I go to export.
    I'm exporting the PDF as 'Interactive', but no matter what setting I put it at, the finished PDF seems to push the final view by about 30%? and therefor makes the PDF blurry.
    It seems a little crazy to me, as everything seems in place and correct?
    Any suggestions?

    Acrobat views files at 96 ppi.
    You can see this in Edit>Preferences and go to Page Display.
    Solution - I'd use 96 ppi images.

  • Any ideas on how to get Acrobat X Pro (ver. 10.1.12) to recognize/create form checkboxes after exporting an InDesign CS6 file to PDF?

    I have tried everything I can think of to try to get it to work (which it did until recently when I had Acrobat reinstalled). OS is Windows 7.

    Are you sure you're exporting interactive PDF?

  • Auto-generated links exported from InDesign do not work in tablet apps

    Hyperlinks automatically detected and exported from InDesign CS6 8.0.1 as a PDF work fine on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader. However, on the iPad version of Adobe Reader as well as iBooks and GoodReader, these links are completely ignored, meaning they are just text.
    On the other hand, if I was to manually set the hyperlink in InDesign or Acrobat, the link works fine.
    It would be extremely tedious and time consuming to manually reset hundreds of hyperlinks in my documents since InDesign use to handle this correctly.
    Is this a bug? If so, it's pretty serious and should be Adobe's priority to fix since millions of people read documents on tablet devices.

    No, it's a Feature of Acrobat and reader that they attempt to create links from anything that "looks like" a URL. Other readers lack the feature.
    It's not good practice to depend on this in any case as it's hardly foolproof even in Acrobat. Links that break across lines, for example, will not be properly recognized.

  • Colour change in identically exported PDFs: InDesign CS5 to CS6

    Artwork turns out with a greener hue in a PDF Print document exported using InDesign CS6 trial software that has ruined a whole print run.
    This catalogue has been printed in past years using CS4 and CS5 software, each time the colours in the exported PDF proof, PDF Print file and InDesign files being accurate and matching perfectly.
    This time I used a trial of InDesign CS6 - Importing the same mother file as previous years and working on the document. When exporting the document however, despite using identical settings to export PDF files in the past, the exported PDFs turn out with a greener hue than the previous CS5 PDFs. I trialed a few different kinds of colour conversions in the PDF export window (i.e. 'no conversion' to 'convert to destination - RGB') just to see what happened -  and all turned out with the same result. The colour change is small but this was exxaggerated at print and as a result the colours
    looked drastically different from the catalogue the year before. Printing aside, (as it's a whole other ballgame), it came down to this slight PDF colour change.
    I'm wondering if anyone can help explain this - does CS6 handle colour exporting differently to CS5?

    Hi Eugene,
    Looking up the settings, they say the following:
    InDesign CS5: Unsynchronised "settings are not synchronised for consistent colour"  (odd; CS5 version is where the file exported with accurate colours)
    InDesign CS6: Synchronised "using the same colour settings for consistent colour management"   (CS6 version exported with a colour change)
    Another thing I've realised that might be an issue:
    The product images are still in RGB format (supplied by the photographer), where everything else in the artwork is in CMYK format. I've run a test export where I've converted everything to CMYK and exported it to a PDF.
    The results:
    InDesign CS5: Same colours consistently on both PDFs with RGB images and with all CMYK images.
    InDesign CS6: Green hue across PDF with RGB images in it, Correct colours in PDF with all CMYK images.
    So is this where the problem lies? The CS6 software having Synchronised colour settings shows a colour change when RGB photos are exported to PDF?
    Let me know your thoughts...

  • Table of Contents bookmarks not exporting to PDF (CS5)

    I have a 200 page book made up of 15 documents.  I've created a table of contents based on paragraph styles and the TOC generates and formats correctly.  When I create the TOC, the Create PDF Bookmarks box is checked.  When I export the whole book I've tried it with Create Tagged PDF checked and unchecked.
    After I export to PDF from the Book palette, the TOC items are links (at least they give me the pointer-hand icon) but they don't go anywhere.  The only one that does is the one in the same document as the TOC.  (I have tried the TOC both within a chapter and also in it's own document with no other links in it).  The behavior is the same in the Bookmarks pane - all are shown but only one works.  I've looked at several of the bookmarks' Properties > Actions.  It says its "Going to a page in another document" > (document-name-of-the-correct-chapter-but-with-pdf-instead-of-indd.pdf) > Page 1 (this is correct) > Zoom level: actual size.
    This isn't right - it's pointing to an imaginary pdf that doesn't exist.  It should be pointing to page X in the current document.
    Here's what I've tried:
    * restarting InDesign
    * restarting my machine
    * deleting the TOC and regenerating it
    * generating the book with all documents open or all documents closed
    * moving the TOC to its own document
    * probably some other things I've forgotten in the struggle
    All of the links and references in the individual documents are good.
    I've looked around these forums and this seems to be an ongoing and unsolved issue for other folks using older versions.  This is the closest I came to finding an answer but ended up with an Adobe employee logging it as a bug in 2009.  Bookmarks not exporting from InDesign to PDF in CS4                     By (c_goates)
    So here's hoping there is some new information.  I've been trying to get this to work for far too long and don't relish drawing bookmark boxes around all 55 of my text links.
    Specs: Max OS 10.6.6, CS5 (Version 7.0)
    Sorry this is so long, but details help, usually.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

    There are some known problems with bookmarks and CS5 as well. As far as I know, the 7.0.3 update won't fix them, but it does solve some other problems, so you should install it.

  • Strange behaviour of a panel in InDesign CS6

    I am currently developing a panel running on InDesign CS5, CS5.5 and CS6. For some internal specific reason, the panel (of type csxs:CSXSWindowedApplication) has its visible property set to false; in its "Lifecycle", the autovisible is unselected and the panel starts on event "applicationActivate".
    This way the panel works as I am expecting, at least on CS5 and CS5.5; unfortunately this is not happening under InDesign CS6. The best way to explain what I am obtaining (expected or not) is by running a ExtensionBuilder 2.0 existing demo project. The example I am talking about is the "CSXSWindowedAppDemo" project. After having imported it, the visible property of the CSXSWindowedApplication must be added and set to false on the "main.mxml" file.
    Then, some adjustment must be done by ctrl-clicking the project and selecting the "CS Extension Builder > Bundle Manifest Editor" menu. First of all, the "Max. Target Version" on the Bundle tab panel must be set to "empty" (to be sure the panel could be run on CS5.5 and CS6); then, after having clicked on the "Extension" tab panel, the "AutoVisible" property must be unchecked and the "applicationActivate" event must be added to the "Start on event(s)" list.
    If the panel is executed on CS5 and CS5.5 the behaviour is the expected one and could be reproduced this way:
    Launching the panel by clicking on the "Extensions > CSXSWindowedAppDemo" menu;
    Clicking on the second tab panel ("Status Bar");
    Closing the panel;
    Opening the panel again with its menu (see point 1).
    As expected, the panel should open by presenting the "Status Bar" tab panel.
    Now on InDesign CS6:
    Launching the panel by clicking on the "Extensions > CSXSWindowedAppDemo" menu;
    Clicking on the second tab panel ("Status Bar");
    Closing the panel;
    Opening the panel again with its menu (see point 1).
    Action #4 doesn't open the panel, nothing happens and re-opening it by clicking on its menu again will cause the panel to be "re-executed" from the scratch by presenting the first tab panel again (as it was executed the first time). Then, the other steps:
    selecting the second tab panel ("Status Bar");
    closing the the panel;
    opening the panel again.
    Now, the panel is shown as expected and the "Status Bar" tab panel is shown.
    I tried to figured out a solution for this, but I don't actually understand what's happening on CS6.
    Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Luca

    Hi VG,
    I am surprised to know that you are not facing against this behaviour on CC too (because I had on CC as well); when I asked to the Adobe Developer Support I was told to create a separate project for CS6 and CC and effectively this solved the issue. Unfortunately this way, I had to manage two different projects instead of one.
    Hope this could help
    Best,
