FEB 5 2011 ITUNES 10.1.2 UPGRADE PROBLEM
I WAS PROMPTED TO UPGRADE TO ITUNES VERSION 10.1.2 AND DID SO. AT THE LAST STEP WHERE IT ASKS YOU TO REBOOT, MY SYSTEM LOCKED UP AND I HAD NO MOUSE OR KEYBOARD SO I HAD TO CTRL/ALT/DELETE. UPON RESTARTING MY PC I WENT TO OPEN ITUNES BUT IT WAS NO LONGER THERE AND NEITHER WAS MY MUSIC LIBRARY. I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS LATEST UPGRADE SO I CHOSE TO RELOAD INTUNES VERSION 10.1.1 FROM DEC 15, 2010. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY LIBRARY BACK AND IN WORKING ORDER BUT WHEN I WENT TO SYNC MY IPOD CLASSIC 120GB I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING IT WAS NOT RECOGNIZED OR COULD NOT BE READ BY ITUNES AND THAT I NEEDED TO RESET IT TO IT'S FACTORY SETTINGS. WHICH I DID. IT THEN RECOGNIZED THE IPOD BUT NOW ITUNES WON'T LOAD ANY MUSIC TO IT. THOUGH ITUNES INDICATES IT IS SYNCING MY IPOD, AND I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS -- NO MUSIC ACTUALLY LOADS TO IT NOW! I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING MY IPOD MAY HAVE BEEN CORRUPTED???? I FIND THIS VERY FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST, WHEN ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS TO UPGRADE ITUNES THINKING IT WOULD IMPROVE IT'S PERFORMANCE AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN GET MUSIC ONTO MY IPOD!! CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM PLEASE??
Thanks for the link. I noticed that "Swut" from Orange County, Ca (see the post below) had a reply in the link you gave me referring to "Vipre" , which is an Anti-Virus program that I also use, like "Swut".
I will investigate this further. In defense of Apple, there is no way that they can test against every bit of software that we run on these PCs. I would hope that if we find out that there is some problem with the Vipre interface, both Apple and the Vipre people will be made aware of the problem.
Before I try the iTunes 10.2.1 upgrade again, I'll contact Sunbelt Software- the people who make Vipre and see if they have heard of this problem. I'll let all of you know what the results are.

I didn't have to go all the way through with TRG10987s solution. When I got to step 4 I noticed that VIPRE had installed multiple virtual network adapters on to of the network adapters. I uninstalled VIPRE thereby deleting the virtual adapters ran the upgrade, and reinstalled VIPRE. Everything works fine now.

ITunes 6.0.4 upgrading problems!
After recently upgrading to 6.0.4, iTunes will not open on my computer. When I try to open it, I recieve the following message:
"Quicktime version 7.0.d installed, iTunes requires Quicktime version 7.0.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have reinstalled iTunes several times over, as well as reinstalling the lastest version of Quicktime twice. Neither has helped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Solved the problem. I downloaded the Quicktime standalone installer that I had found in another thread.

Itunes 10.6.3 upgrade problems on macbook pro
I have updated itunes to 10.6.3 and it works okay until i try to go to Itunes store. It crashes. Also since I installed it everytime i try to use safari it also crashes. Any suggestions
Not to sound alarmist, but rather, cautious. Be sure that those who respond to this thread have your computer configuration before you take their experiences to heart. I cannot comment specifically regarding your machine since I do not have a mac with your configuration.
A bad sign is that the actual configurations are starting to mean something as opposed to Macs of yore when it wasn't much of an issue which model mac one owned because the software "just worked." -
My Snow Leopard 10.6.3 has Safari 4.0.4 but this cannot be used for the new features of iTunes. I tried upgrading to Safari 5.1.7 but it needs Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Where can I get a version of Safari 5.1 that is compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.3?

Not possible. You need to update to v10.6.8
Click your Apple menu > Software Update
Or update using the this download > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Then restart your Mac. -
I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.1.5 and now my iPod Nano is not recognized in iTunes. I also upgraded my iPhone 5s to iOS 7.1. i Tunes on my computer does recognize my iPhone. What is the problem with my iPod Nano not being recognized?
I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple. -
I downloaded a film from ITunes in HD and had problems, I upgraded to the latest version of ITunes and have then downloaded the film again in SD on my Windows 7 computer, but I still can't get the film to play, any idea's what to do next?
I've been working at the same problem for hours now and it's really driving me crazy so any help would be greatly appreciated.It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

iTunes 11.1.4 "upgrade" is broken. It ruins existing installations. Others have this problem. Please withdraw this release ASAP, and please fix whatever is broken. Thank you for an otherwise excellent product.

If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process. -
IPod Songs Don't Show Up in iTunes After iTunes 6.0.2 "Upgrade"
After installing iLife '06, and the iTunes 6.0.2 "upgrade" that came with it, the contents of my 4th Gen. 40 Gb iPod don't show up in iTunes. The iPod mounts on the Desktop OK, and even shows up in the Source list in iTunes 6.0.2. And I can unmount the iPod by clicking on the little up arrow icon in iTunes. But iTunes reports only 919.2 Mb used and 36.33 Gb free in the iPod.
I tried copying a song from my iTunes Library to the iPod, and it showed up in iTunes. But when I unmounted, then remounted, the iPod, it no longer showed in iTunes. It was on the iPod, however.
I tried upgrading to the latest iPod software (iPod Updater 2006-01-10) but that didn't help.
I ran Software Update and it didn't find any software that needed updating.
I repaired disk permissions and Shutdown, then powered back up and restarted. Nada.
The iPod mounts fine on my G4 AlBook running iTunes 4.9, and the contents of the iPod are also visible in iTunes 4.9, so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem on the iPod.
Don't know if it matters, but all of the music on my Mac and on the iPod was ripped by iTunes from CDs (that I own).
Anybody else seeing this?
Is there a fix?

We're trying to force iTunes to rebuild properly.
With iTunes not running. Make a copy of the library database file (iTunes Library).
Try deleting the iTunes Library file. Start iTunes. Does this then show the missing tracks? To get the original playlists back you can import from the original xml file that you saved.
If you need to get back to the start point just delete the newly created database and .xml files and go back to the originals.

ITunes 10.1.2 upgrade on Win XP Pro SP3 Kills Internet access
The latest iTunes 10.1.2 install on my Win XP Pro SP3 system kills my Internet access. Internet status shows that I'm connected but Internet Explorer and Firefox can't connect to the server. Running Win XP Pro SP3 with all MS updates applied on a Dual-Core Intel 6600 chip, 4 gig of memory and a couple of terabytes of hard drive. When I do a restore from my backup hard drive to the prior OS and iTunes version, everything is back to normal. I didn't receive any error notifications both times from the install. I first did the install from the Apple website directly (and lost Internet access), then restored my backup system and downloaded the update separately and then installed and lost Internet access again. Am now back up using iTunes 10.1.1.4. Is this update from Egypt? (supposed to be funny).

I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?) touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

After itunes and q/time upgrade I get an error #63440
after the itunes and q/time upgrade whenever I try to acsess anything via q/time i get an error #63440 quick time was not found even though it is on my machine and I have removed and re-installed.
OK, here's something else to try (with thanks to B Noir and Mark Stejskal for the suggestion):
It's possible that the problem is due to an error in permission in the Windows Registry. To check (and correct) that issue, you'll need to run the Registry Editor (Start -> Run -> regedit). Look for the HKEYLOCALMACHINE section and find SOFTWARE -> Apple Computer, Inc -> Quicktime. Click on the QuickTime folder to highlight it, select Permissions under the Edit menu (or right-click on the folder and select Permissions), and make sure that your user is listed and that you have full permission. If not, correct that and see if the problem is then fixed. You may also need to check the subfolders/keys.
If you're uncomfortable working the registry permissions, you may be able to achieve the same result by uninstalling QuickTime, going into the Registry, and deleting the entire QuickTime folder (again, in HKEYLOCALMACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Apple Computer, Inc. and then reinstalling QuickTime.

Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

If your phone isn't being recognized by your computer, you need to follow the steps in this article to resolve that
Also, some basic isolation needs to be done. Does it show up in itunes on any other computers? do you have other cords you can test with to see if it might be the cord? if the phone doesn't show up on any computers, it's likely your phone has a hardware issue
