  • How do you reconnect a wireless mouse when you can't use it to click options

reconnecting the wireless mouse when not able to click on options

Firstly, if you have open windows open, quit everything (⌘ Q simultaneously), once you're back to seeing "Finder" at the top of your desktop screen press ⇧⌘U simultaneously.  Navigate to Terminal, and press ⌘ O to open Terminal.  Type/Paste
    "open /System/Library/CoreServices/Bluetooth\ Setup\ Assistant.app"
    and then hit enter.
This will open the bluetooth setup assistant, if your mouse is turned on it should find it.

  • My Apple TV will not update to the latest software, dose anyone know what the problem is, I've reset, tried to do it wirelessly as well as while connected via Ethernet cable.. Both have resulted in the same message!!

My Apple TV will not update to the latest software, dose anyone know what the problem is, I've reset, tried to do it wirelessly as well as while connected via Ethernet cable.. Both have resulted in the same message!! Update unsuccessful, current software version is 5.1 (5201) . I've rented a movie recently and does not appear in my movie list, but I have been charged for this movie, can someone help me out with these issues.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.
If when you choose restore you get a message that the device cannot be found, download the file below
Apple TV Software Restore 5.1.1 (2nd generation)
Apple TV Software Restore 5.1.1 (3rd generation)
Then hold down the option key while choosing restore and select the downloaded file when prompted.

There actually is a type of "pointer" native to iOS. it's part of the AssistiveTouch feature,  used to replicate multitouch gestures with one finger. You just can't control it with a mouse.
Anyway, as far as I can discern the iPad does not use nanotechnology in any part of its construction.

  • I have 74k  photo's in my iPhoto trash and crashes when emptying. I have tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist but still won't empty.

Hi! I have 74k photo's in my iPhoto trash and it crashes when trying to empty. Clearly it's too much for the system to handle so after researching I downloaded 'Trashit!' which didn't help even if I selected one photo and dragged it to the trashit icon, not a single photo will delete from the iPhoto trash.
I've tried creating a new album but the photo's won't drag. I have tried deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist and done several timely rebuilds but I still can't find a way to empty the trash.  I hope there's something really simple I'm missing here, any help appreciated

iiPhoto is known to lock up if you try to delete a large number of photos at a time. Here are a couple of ways to get out of the predicament you're in:
1 -  go into iPhoto's General preference pane and uncheck the Show item counts checkbox:
and then try emptying the iPhoto Trash bin again. It's iffy however.
2 - If that fails and you don't use the Rating stars you can do the following: select all of the photos in the trash and Control-click to bringup the contextual menu.  There will be the 5 stars for the ratings.  Select either 5 or 1 to apply that rating to the photos.
Next create a smart album with the criteria:
selecting the number of start you applied to those in the Trash bin.
Move the photos from the Trash bin to the Library and the Smart Album will immediately be populated with those photos.
You can now select about 100 photos or so at a time and use the Command+Option+Delete key combination to move them back to the Trash bin and empty it.  Repeat with groups of about 100 or so photos till they are all deleted. Then delete the Trash bin in the Dock to completely remove them from your hard drive.

  • My bluetooth is off on my mac so my wireless mouse does not work how do I turn it on --i have no corded mouse, my bluetooth is off on my mac so my wireless mouse does not work how do I turn it on --i have no corded mouse

my bluetooth is off and I have a wireless mouse- i have turned mac off and disconnected all usb and then turn back on but wireless wont come on so how do I turn it back on (have no idea how it got turned off) without a wired mouse???

    Hello:
According to Apple's documentation, you cannot turn Bluetooth off unless there is a USB device connected.
Do you have a wired keyboard?  If so, you could try resetting the PRAM and SMC - although I do not think that would help.

  • ....any help out there? trying to reconnect to wireless to no avail...

....had to disconnect verizon service box a couple of days ago and have since had problems getting wireless service on one of the two macbooks. We have two macbooks in the residence and the other is viable.....

If you haven't done it this way, see if it works for you: turn off all anti-virus software, and firewalls, restart the PC, login as admin, go to the Apple iTunes download site and download the iTunes file.  Quit the browser, go to your downloads folder and click on the iTunes file and install from that file...will reconnect and get more material.
After iTunes has installed, connect your iPhone and let iTunes download and install the iOS update before you restart anti-virus software.

  • Trying to delete Office for Mac and getting this message: The operation can't be completed because the item "com.microsoft.DocumentConnection.plist" is in use.

I am trying to remove Office for Mac from my Macbook Air. I've deleted the files and moved to Trash, but can not empty Trash. This message continues to display when I attempt to empty Trash and thereby delete all Microsoft plist files...

You can't delete Office simply by throwing the app in the trash.
Here are the instructions for removing it, follow them exactly.

  • Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Install Problem

I am trying to install my wireless keyboard and mouse onto my Mac OS X 10.3.9. My dad had this computer before me and had the mouse and keyboard paired and working. After it was shipped to me, I attempted to pair these again with no luck. THe bluetooth won't recognize either and if i try and run the KeyboardandMouse.pkg as instructed, the icon simply isn't there when I insert the disk. I've attempted to pair using the system preferences, but it cannot locate either the keyboard and mouse. Yes, I do have new batteries installed and the lights do blink when switched on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello again:
Try trashing the BT preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restarting.
If that does not work (although it will take you a bit of time), I think I would try an archive and install:

  • Wireless mouse with a wired keyboard

I have the original iMac G5 running OS10.4. Originally the computer had both the wireless mouse and keyboard. When the keyboard died after 2 years I switched to a wired keyboard. Upon booting the machine constantly wants to search for the keyboard (the mouse is recognized just fine) until I unplug the wired keyboard and re-plug it in at which point the computer displays a window saying that a keyboard has been recognized. The wired keyboard isn't functional until I have gone through this work around. How do I make it stop searching (ever) for a wireless keyboard but still be able to use the wireless mouse?
BTW the mouse is the only bluetooth devices listed in the bluetooth preferences.
    Thanks in advance!
    Paul

Don't know if this will help your particular situation, but in my case it did with my bluetooth connection to my mighty mouse.
Remove the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from the Preference folder (Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist). When you removed that file to the trash, erase the trash file, shutdown the computer and then start it again, it immediately recognized the mouse and asked to confirm the pairing.

  • 10.6.4 Macbook Pro will no longer connect to Apple bluetooth keyboard/mouse

I installed the 10.6.4 update and my MacBook Pro 17" froze after a while. I rebooted and now the bluetooth will not connect or my Apple wireless keyboard or Mighty Mouse. I can also no longer turn the bluetooth off.
    Anyone else having problems?

Same thing happened to me. I had the same problem updating from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 also.
I was able to fix it again (in the update from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4) using the same approach:
Look in both /Library/Preferences (the library folder at the root level of your hard drive) and ~/Library/Preferences (the library folder inside your user folder). Delete the file com.apple.Bluetooth.plist from both locations then shut down the computer fully before restarting.
It is important to click shut down (and not just restart). I don't know why, but it won't work if you just click restart.

  • HT3887 i am unable to get my numerical wireless keyboard to find bluetooth after 10 months of using it.. I have reset and it only worked for a day. I have deleted it from my bluetooth list and it wont even find it . New batteries what is next?

I have had a numerical keyboard for 10mth or so and has always worked . Now for some reason it has lost its ability to connect to bluetooth..I have reset it by pressing the button in the back I have obviously changed the batteries and I have deleted and tried to reinstall it to my bluetooth menu(to no avail it cant find ti)
    What next...

    Open System Preferences > Bluetooth
Select:  Show Bluetooth in menu bar
Try deleting the associated Bluetooth preference file, then try re pairing the keyboard. Preference files can become corrupted.
Open a Finder window. From the menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
    /Libray/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac. Try pairing the keyboard.

  • Apple Wireless Mouse - Can't Get It To Work...

I just bought a new Apple Wireless Mouse and installed the software, followed the directions word for word and when I do the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and it searches for my mouse... it tells me that no mouse is found and to make sure my mouse is "discoverable".
Running latest OS. Software update is up to date. I've checked my Bluetooth settings and "discoverable" is clicked. Batteries are in right. Light blinks when I turn it on... now I'm just kinda confused.
    Am I missing a step?
Any help or insight sure would be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!!

I've tried taking the batteries out and re-installing them a few times. They're definitely in there correctly. I also tried the on / off switch like you said and the red flashing is no different than what I had previously. Solid for a few seconds at first, then it flashes about three times - pause - three times again - pause and so on.
The Bluetooth Setup Assistant just keeps looking for the device but keeps coming back with no devices found and says to make sure mouse is discoverable.
No, no keyboard... just the mouse.
    Thanks for the input!
