Federated  Portal - ESS/MSS remote content copy / remote delta link mode

Hello,
We have established an Federated Portal Network between two Enterprise Portal systems.
The Consumer System is an Netweaver Enterprise Portal, the Producer also an Enterprise Portal installation + XSS.
We use remote role assignment and remote delta link functionality between this two systems.
We have an request to enable BI JAVA Iviews on the consumer and as transitive content sharing is not provided, we would like to copy the ESS/MSS roles as remote content copy/remote delta links from the producer XSS system to the consumer system.
When we try to copy the ESS or MSS roles the copy process end with the following error message :
"Due to an unexpected error the action will be canceled"
The remote content copy/remote delta link usage mode is working correct on other roles
Is this a restiction that ESS/MSS roles can not be used in remote delta link mode ?
Is there an workaround for such usage type ?
Thank you

  • MSS Appraisal Use Copy or Delta-linked copy of iView

We are using EP 7.01 on ECC 6 EHp4 and in the process of implementing MSS 1.41.
In order to use position to position in the appraisal process we need to make a Z copy of the application HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI_MSS.  and then make an iView with the Z application.
We need to know which is best to use - a copy of the appraisal iview or a delta linked copy of the appraisal iview.
    Thanks,

These links are very useful and helpful.
The question is If we delta link a copy of the iView and change the Applicaiton property, will that show the Z copy of the application?  and when SAP updates the original iView will that erase the changed property in the delta linked copy.
If we only make a copy then for every SP or EHp we will have to check the copy of the iview with the original iview.

  • Address and Personal Data is not coming up on Portal ( ESS MSS )

    Folks,
I am not able to see the Address and Personal Data is not coming up on Portal ( ESS MSS ) . when I click those links just the roadmap with exit button.
    Thanks

    Hi Manish,
Check with your system patch level both from ABAP and JAVA in the same Service Pack levels. if they are different then only we will get this type of errors. Even we i have faced the same problem, but solved with the basis help.
Have you gone through PA30, there Empl data has to be maintained. Then we can get the Data.

  • Basic Question on Copy and Delta link which one to use when?

    Hi
    Its basic question
My understanding about copy and Delta link is
Copy doesnot ahve direct relationship with source object (but it acts as a sibling) any changes done to spurce object does not affect target object.
Where as Delta link will have a parent child relation ship between source object bacially its a copy of source and inherits id properties. in case if i change source object does this affect target object, we can delete, add content to delta link target object.
let's say if i want to use standard quickpoll iView do i need to use copy or delta link similarly for other iviews, worksets, roles which one will be better.
    Regards,
    Murali

    Murali,
    Yes, your understanding is right.
    Case 1 : Copy
    A- Object
    B- Copy of A
Both of them are independent.Any changes in A are not dependent on B and vice versa.
    Case 2 : Delta Link
    A - Object
B - Copy of A (via Delta link)
Any changes to A are reflected in B, as A is a parent and B a child.
But B would be an independent entity.Any changes to B would not effect A.
When you use either of them, depends on your need. When you are working with standard iviews or roles or workset, you can do a copy of the original, because in most cases we would not make changes to the standard roles or worksets or iviews. There by eliminating the process of making a delta copy.
But, if you are dealing with the roles that you have created and want to make a copy of it, you can use a delta link, because, even if you want to add more iviews and worksets to that role, they would get reflected when you make a delta copy.
    Hope that helps.

  • Federated Portal Language change not visible on remote role

    Hi,
Remote role assigment is done on consumer portal. This remote portal role comes from a BI Producer portal.
This roles has worksets and iviews attached to it like km navigation iview etc.
User on consumer portal has options to change his language to french from default english.
Here the issue is, this language change does not reflect or apply to the remote role and its iviews or contents.(It continues to show in english) . But it works without problem o n local roles or ivews as expected.
Any idea on how this language change can be effected on the remote role and its contentc will be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ashok D

    Hello Ashok,
You must remember that because this is RRA the content will actually run on the producer (unless this is an AI iView).
This means that the language will be determine according to the user's language defined on the producer itself, therefor you have to change the language of that specific user on the producer portal.
If this does not help it might be that the iView is forcing the language, then we'll have to try somehthing else.
Update me with the results of the first triage,
Also have a look at SAP Note # 1295703 under the Language category, it explains the algorithem of determining the language.
    Best Regards,
    Nadav.

  • Federated Portal Content Copy

    Hi guys,
I implemented an FPN scenario and it kind of worked. I can browse content stored on the producer but content copy, from the producer to the consumer, hangs indefinitely and never stops (either in IE or in Firefox).
    Any clue?
    Cheers,
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
Check this what SAP says about content copy:
    Remote Content Copy  Solved restrictions:
IMPORTANT: The architecture supporting the 'remote copy content' usage mode has been modified in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 10. It now supports delta link relationships between the copied objects (for more information about the new functionality support, see 'Remote Delta Link' below). This modification resolves many of the restrictions and limitations related to this content usage mode. We recommend not implementing the 'remote copy content' usage mode if you are running SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 09 and earlier. The reason being that any content using the old architecture will not be functional after the change. It is recommended to use Remote Role Assignments until SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 09.
Some of the restrictions that are related to content usage mode Remote Content Copy are:
o This mode not supported as of SAP NetWeaver SPS 10 - you cannot use Remote Content Copy objects as of SPS 10 (no migration is available).
o Only WSRP-compliant content is supported with this content sharing mode. This means for example that only iViews can be copied. Web Dynpro iViews, PRT server-side events between iViews and Object-Based Navigation (OBN) are not supported.
o Producer and Consumer must be of the same version and SPS.
o Changing an object name after copy is not reflected in PCD.
o Objects containing URL iViews have to be executed on the producer before copying them (execution will fail otherwise).
o In case copy process fails or is cancelled: objects might remain locked in producer. The producer administrator has to release these objects manually.
o Browsing through remote Portal Catalog fails when many folders are extracted at the same time - cache needs to be cleared.
    reward points if this helps.
    regards
    -Kedar Kulkarni

  • Assign remote roles with Federated portals

    Hello all,
We're trying to implement a federated Portal network using the <i>"Implementing a Federated Portal Network" in Detail</i> document.
The steps that we have follow successfully are:
    1. Connect to the user repository (Producer and Consumer).
    2. Configure system settings (Producer and Consumer).
    3. Define and Configure producers (consumer).
    4. Set permisions (producer).
Now we want to assign remote roles to local users in <i>User Administration -> Proxy-to-remote Roles option.</i> But <i>Proxy-to-remote Roles</i> tab doesn't appear in the second level navigation...
We are working with EP7 SP10.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance

Maybe a clue: According to the Remote Role assigment question, We have a similar problem using the Remote content copy option.
In the consumer EP, Content Administration -> Portal Content, the Netweaver Content Producers contains the producer connection icon but it's empty. So, the content share can't be done...
    Now... Any idea?
    Thanks!

  • Federated portal network to set a chat between different portals

    Hi,
We need to set a chat between <b>two different portals</b> (each portal is placed in a different geographical location). Our doubt is if it's possible create the chat using a federated portal network.
We think if we create the chat in the producer portal (enabling collaboration launch pad, instant messaging, etc. etc.) and after we use <b>remote content copy</b>, a user from the consumer portal can access to chat configured in the producer using producer's iViews and collaboration services.
Is this scenario possible? Do we have to use remote role assigment instead of remote content copy?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

There are two discussions going on same topic, we are heading nowhere, please take a part.

  • Federated Portal Remove Delta Links

I have two portals running Netweaver 04S running SP10.   I have them up as a federated portal.  I cannot however copy items as remote delta links in the Portal Content Catalog.   I can do a regular copy but not the delta link.  What am I missing?   I am at SP 10.  Thanks

    Lee,
Do you mean that you used "Copy" from the producer portal's PCD and "Paste as Local Content" on the consumer portal's PCD? That's what I do, but I'm receiving a "string out of bounds: 7" error on all URL iViews copied this way. The iView previews just fine on the producer, but gives this error when previewed on the consumer.

  • Federated Portals Error:

    Hi All,
I am working on Federated Portals. My producer is a CE7.1 portal and consumer is a EP 7.0 portal.
I have done all the steps like setting of trust, adding the producer etc. I am also getting the producer content in the consumer portal in the 'Netweaver Content Producers' folder. However when I try to copy it locally it gives me the following error:
    Could not paste objects
Could not create remote delta link to object'pcd:portal_content/other_vendors/every_user/com.bcone.GoogleRole' Could not connect to producer portal. Please check that the producer portal is running, there are no network problems, and your consumer settings for the producer are configured properly.
I have tested connection to the producer and that is successful. I think there s aproblem with the permissions I have assigned.
Can anyone tell me what permissions exactly do I have to assign to the consumer portal objects? Because I am not very sure of that part.
    Thanks,
    Malita

    Hi Anagha,
I have solved that error.I was using wrong ports when creating the Netweaver content producer i.e. I was not using the P4 port for the P4 connection step.
I referred to this link and got it solved:

However, when i access the content from my user I get the follwoing error in my iview:

  • ESS/MSS for International Country grouping

    Hi all,
Scenario: We are implementing Portal ESS/MSS on ECC6 and have loaded the Best Practices with the below components.
SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 SP12 with the following additional software components
         BP ERP05 Common Parts 1.0 SP08 (BP_ERP5COM)
         BP ERP05 ESS 1.0 SP08 (BP_ERP5ESS))
         BP ERP05 MSS 1.0 SP08 (BP_ERP5MSS)
         SAP ESS 600 SP08 (SAP_ESS)
         SAP MSS 600 SP08 (SAP_MSS)
         SAP PCUI_GP 600 SP08 (SAPPCUI_GP)
Now, the ESS and MSS is to be implemented for a Country Grouping 99 - International and not any specific country.
Problem: The iViews are not loading for International, when the R/3 config setting is for 99. While it seems to be calling the right iViews for 10 - USA or 12 - Belgium.
Can you please assist on how to link up the Users to the roles and correct iViews.
    Thank you.
    Sandeep

    Hi Anil,
    Steps in brief:
    0. Once you have implemented the Busin. Packages from SAP you will get all the Portal Content which is country specific. This is the same content being called from R/3 using country specific resources.
    1. Go to R/3 -> Pers Admin -> ESS -> General Settings -> Home Page for SS -> Services -> Define Country Srvcs.
Go into Define Country specific srvcs and you will see the view V_T7XSSSERSRVCG
    2. This table contains all the country specific implementations offerred by SAP. You can use some of these and copy/create for CGrpng 99 as below. This should be based on what services you want to use on ESS.
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_ADDRESS         99    EMPLOYEE_ADDRESS_BE_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_ADDRESS05       99    EMPLOYEE_ADDRESS_BE_SERVICE05
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_BANK            99    EMPLOYEE_BANK_BE_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_BANK05          99    EMPLOYEE_BANK_BE_SERVICE05
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_FAMMEMBER       99    EMPLOYEE_FAMMEMBER_BE_SERVICE
    EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_FAMMEMBER05     99    EMPLOYEE_FAMMEMBER_BE_SERVICE05
    3. Also make sure your CGrpng in Pers Area/ PSA is set to 99, basically Employee shold belong to 99.
Hope this helps in figuring out a few more things !!
    Good luck
    ~ Sandeep

  • Deploying ESS/MSS

    Hi,
We are having some issues with regards to Self Services. We have done a EP7.01 deployment and updated the J2EE Core components. We also installed the XSS Business Packages. All this was done using JSPM and is visible under deployed components.
Now the issue arose when a apps consultant noticed an error:
com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: Failed in WD JNDI lookup. javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No child found in WebDynproContext with name essuspdata
I have had a look at these forums to prevent wasting people's valuable time
    Re: ESS IVIEW not working
Re: PortalRuntimeException: Failed in WD JNDI lookup
Re: Error in the Standard MSS iview?
Now it seems that if the XSS services were deployed then they would be visible in Visual Administrator under the "deploy" service ->webdynpro along with the big list there is already. Now i cannot find this "essuspdata" or any other ESS/MSS service there, which suggests that it may not be installed or deployed or started. Now correct me if i am wrong, all deployment should be done via JSPM not SDM? I had a look in SDM for curious reasons and saw ESS/MSS and other Business Packages there in the list under SDM repository but it does not say if it is deployed/installed/started.
Can someone please guide me where i have gone wrong, as i am new to Enterprise Portal?
    thanks in advance!
    Mani

    thanks for your reply.
he has said there is nothing he hasn't forgot to look into and tried.
I had a look into the SAP logviewer and saw some errors come up at the time i tried to start the essuspdata
the application that is causing this is: Application : sap.com/tcwddispwda
i am not sure if this is dependant on other applications/services that are supposed to be started
(sorry for the huge dump of information and badly formatted reply)

not sure why it is giving this error, as it seems like a general issue but i can't put my finger on it.
I had a check for other errors which i have rectified myself and its looking slightly cleaner than before.
again i have looked all over google, SDN, OSS notes and nothing. Not sure if this is a new problem or am i missing some config somewhere. did find one note which said to apply the latest java component patches which i have but its not sorted anything. My only concern is why i can't see essuspdata or any other ess/mss under  Content Administration -> Webdynpro -> under deployed content -> sap.com which only indicates its not deployed but from here onwards i am truly lost as to why
    Any ideas,

  • Federated Portal Network FPN: exception Remote Delta Links rdl

    Consumer Portal version: 7.01 SP2
    Producer Portal version: 7.00 SP15
I always receive an exception when i try to preview a remote delta link.
I think I've setted up correctly the trust relationship between my portals. Because when I log on to my consumer portal and I open the producer portal in the same browser I don't need to give my user credentials. This is a simple test to see if the the trust relationship is working...
In the portal content studio I'm able to see my portal producers and their content. There is also no problem to copy for eg. an url iView from my producer to the portel content of my consumer portal as local content. when I try to preview my iView I receive a runtime error!
Anyone who'd like to share some ideas? Known issues?
    Thanks

I've posted my solution in this thread:
Re: Federated Portal Network FPN: exception Remote Delta Links rdl
    My problem is already solved!

    Hi all,
I am trying to implement Federated Portal Network. Content Usage mode as 'Remote Delta link' but getting runtime exception at Consumer Portal side while navigating through following path:
Ideally it should display login page asking for user credentials to connect to remote producer portal
Path at Consumer Portal side: Personalize -> User Mapping (Remote iViews) -> select remote producer portal alias from Remote Content Provider dropdown
    Consumer portal : EP1 SPS 12
    Producer portal: EP4 SPS 11
    Exception as below:
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
      com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.PermissionControlException: Access denied (Object(s): portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.portal.portal_personalization/com.sap.portal.umeEnduserRemoteUserMappingWD/com.sap.portal.umeEnduserRemoteUserMappingWD)
