Federating CE 7.1 portal(xMII) into EP 7.01SP06

Hi guys ,
I am trying to federate a portal in composite environment 7.1 (xMII 12.1) into NW EP 7.01 SP06 portal . While defining the object in the consumer portal (the netweaver enterprise portal) under manage my producers the default u201Cpath to WSDL definition fileu201D contains an "irj" component . CE7.1 I believe does not have EP usage type installed so no "irj" component and thus this would not be a valid URI which in turn would not form a valid URL with the server name and the port supplied for the producer portal .I save the object definition and I get an error message as soon as I select the option for "producer registration" saying ...
" The producer URL you specied is invalid or the remote server is not responding"
I did the connection test for the producer object defined and it fails with the following error message...
"Could not retrieve the WSDL file ; the handshake URL may not exist or may not be valid"
I am not sure how to go about it . The literature on SDN tells me that the federation is possible but noone has talked about how .
Can anyone please help ?

Please note that my CE7.1 portal is the producer portal and NW Enterprise portal is the consumer.

Problem while uploading Portal Theme into R/3 System?

I am trying to upload Portal Theme into R/3 system.
We have a program which will upload to a given path.
T.Code SE38 Program name BSP_update_mimerepos.
When I upload the theme using the program I get some folders,
like Common, r, UR
when cross checked with the standard I see css files are missing when uploading.
please help me on resolving this.

solved went with WD_THEMES report to upload the theme to R/3 system.
search in forum to find out the solution.

Installation of xMII into a virtual server environment

Can we deploy xMII into a Virtual Server environment? If so, are there any downside issues we need to be aware of before considering such an option?

Can you please qualify what you meant by "typically". Is there any benchmark study on performance in production that you are basing on? Otherwise, what else could be the reason you do not advise in production?
We are currently installing xMII in Dev VMWare environment. Our company is seriously advising only VMWARE for Dev and test. If you have any benchmarks, that will help.

You need to give the URL for the application with pcd of iview.
Please ask you portal or webdynpro consultant he might help you in that.

JCO Proxy Error while connecting xMII into SAP R/3 Server

Hi All
When we try connect out SAP xMII server to the SAP R/3 Server using JCo (JCO Interface), we are getting an error
"Fatal Error: JCOProxy Error:Name or Password is incorrect, please re-enter"
We have checked the userID and password for logging into the SAP R/3 System and it is all correct and we are also able to login with the same userID/password using SAPGui. All the other details like SAP Server, Client Instance is all correct.
appreciate if someone can help resolving this.

Hi Biju,
I have also experienced this error. We are using xMII 12.0.1 with SAP R/3 4.6B. Please make sure that your password is in lowercase without special characters. Also check the xMII-logs if there is some more information about the error.
If nothing helps, delete the SAP server entry in Data Services and re-enter it. Maybe this makes it work. I found that either the password was different or the new entry helped.

Conserving filename with upload via portal form into blob type

I have a little question. Is there any chance to conserve a filename, which was uploaded into blob column via portal form and then create link for this file with the same name?

You certanly can save the original filename in your form, to do that you will need to add a FILENAME varchar2 column to your table and write a simple Javascript (search this forum for examples) to copy the fileselect value with onChange event. So, when you submit the form with your file the original name will be stored in you table.

How to import existing WLS Portal App into Workshop?

I have searched and searched, and tried every different combination of imports, with no success.
I have an existing EAR file, with a Portal Application, created for WebLogic. I am able to deploy it to my server, and it works fine. I would like to import into Workshop (either into a new project, or into an existing project - I've tried both ways), so I can manipulate it (basically, I need to enhance this existing Portal, and I want to use it as a starting point).
I don't have the complete Portal Workshop directory (I would expect a .work file, and other files related to Workshop), just a deployable EAR (probably generated with Workshop).
Anyone know how to bring the Portal into Workshop so I can work with it. The only way I can get close to it now, is to create a similar page layout, and import each component singularly then place it in the appropriate location (ie. import a jsp, and put it on the proper page, basically rebuild the app by hand). There has to be a better way - especially since this app has been developed on BEA Platform from the start.
Any help is mucho appreciated, I am up against a big deadline, and have been pulling my hair out over this.

How to fetch all the portal groups into dropdown through webdynpro Java App

Hello All,
I have a requirement where I have to fetch all the groups available in user administrator in portal into a dropdown, so that the admin can select the group from the dropdown and after that when he executes a button u201CGet Detailsu201D he must be able to get the list of users who has been assigned that group .
I need to achieve this through WebDynpro Java.
Any pointers or documents on this is very very helpful.

Portal export into Excel---V HIGH IMP please

Dear All,
Very urgent probelm reagdring the portal report.
Once the report is executed into the portal and then while exporting that report into excel i am getting the report is very nice in producation..
One of my clinet also doing the same at his end,But while exporting the report into excel is getting problem.No allignments taken place there!!!
But we are using differnet verions of excel from quite long time and we are getting the reports very fine from couple of months..So version doesn't a matter....even though just we are exporting into excel,so that old veriosn also not a problem for uS...
Please suggest me how can i solve this issue?

Finally i got few interesting points in the enduser reports and my report
My Report:
Inside the excel it shows sheet1 is as SAP_DOWNLOAD
My Sheet inside excel is : SAP_DOWNLOAD
Enduser Report:
Inside the excel sheet name is differnt....and the first line in the report is some code which includes the my excel sheet1 name same SAP_Download
Their Sheet inside excel is : .xls]SAP4IHV6PV4AXREVZ888UCSR2H83[1]
So My sheet name looks like in the below text which is the first line in the excel report of enduser's

I WANT TO OPEN A PORTAL PAGE INTO A PORTAL REGION

I have two pages published as portlets(P1,P2). P1 have a portal link to P2 and
it works perfectly. My problem occurs when:
1) I create a new group of pages.
2) In this group, i create a new Portal page(P3).
3) In a region of P3 I load p1 as a portlet.
When I click in the link of P1, P2 is loaded in a complete window. I want to
load P2 in the region that contains P1, no in a new window. I want to keep the
other P3 content when i click in this link.

guess the only way to do so is to create a HTML Portlet which has an iframe that displays your P2.

How to configure KM in federated portal network

Dear Friends,
Can anyone help me in configuring KM in federated portal network. If KM is configured in producer portal how to make use of that KM content in consumer portal.
Is it possible to directly configure KM in consumer portal?

Hi Sireesha,
1) In order to use all capabilities provided by Knowledge Management, the
recommended solution would be to use KM only on one portal in the federation.
This could be the central consumer portal or alternatively one of the producer
portals. Then all features, like versioning, taxonomies, approval workflows,
subscriptions, template-based publishing will be available in this portal.
2) In case KM has to be federated to different producer portals, KM iViews (e.g.
Document iViews, Navigation iViews) could be integrated with the content sharing
modes provided by FPN. However, this is not a deep integration, because only a
redirect to the remotely located iViews is performed. The services themselves, like
taxonomies, will not be available in the consumer portal.
The recommended approach is to Configure KM on Consumer Portal only or Producer portal only.

In a FPN scenario, is it possible to use the Navigation Tag Library in the consumer portal for the top level navigation? I have developed a custom top level navigation based on the navigation tag library, but when navigating to the role of the producer and back again I can no longer view the roles in the consumer portal.

I know this was posted a long time ago, but I'm currently experiencing a similar issue in the TLN between a federated CE and EP portal. Did you manage to resolve your problem? In my case it looks like when you access the CE content from EP it cannot find its way back to EP when clicking on another link on the EP side. Looking at the logs it seems as if it's looking for the content on the CE system even though it's obviously not there.
