Federation in the CMC

Hello *,
in the "BusinessObjects Enterprise Administrator's Guide" for BOXI R 3.1 (which we are using) I found a lot of information regarding a new functionality called "Federation". To create a remote connection for example, the Admin Guide explains that I have to "Go to The Federation area of the CMC".
My problem is that I can't find this area inside the CMC! I am able to create replication lists and add replication objects to the list; but an area "Federation" seems to be missing...
Hopefully someone can help.
Kind regards, Marc.

I found the solution myself!
The problem was that I was using a german locale of the CMC. Both the german and the english version of the administrator guide mention an area called "Federation" in the CMC. Unfortunately, the german translation used in the CMC  was not "Fededartion" but "Bündelung", that is why I didn't find it..  There was mistake in german administrator guide..
Regards, Marc.

  • Schedule a Webi report from the CMC

    Hi, ALL
    Is there a way to schedule a Webi report from the CMC without using an email account in the
    'from' box? There are other placeholders that can be used but I don't know how
    to use them please advise.
    Thanks.

    Hermant,
          You need to make sure you configure the proper email server.   Go to the CMC - Server > AdaptiveJobServer>Destination>Email.  You may need to enable Email as one of the Destinations.
    You must configure all the HIGHLIGHTED options.

  • Error when scheduling a cmd file (program object) via the cmc

    Hi,
    I have added a program object which is a cmd file in the BO repository.
    When I try to schedule it through the cmc, I'm receiving the following error message:
    "Could not capture output for the program". The credentials to execute this program object are correct.
    I'm using SAP BI 4.1 SP4
    Does anyone has any clue to solve this problem?
    Thanks

    We are on SAP BI 4.1 SP3 patch3 (not sp4 as mentioned above)
    Yes I did enter the user name and password to run the program object.
    It has never worked before on SAP BI 4.1 but the same program object works well on BOXI 3.1 SP3.
    If I try with an other program object, it's also failing.
    I checked the sap notes and I did some adjustments.The domain user account has now all the requested rights.
    But I still have the same error message when I try to schedule a program object

  • Where is the Manage Object function in Crystal Reports 2013 for the CMC?

    I recently upgraded to Crystal Reports 2013 after upgrading our Crystal Reports server to SAP Business Objects Platform 4.1. Before the upgrade, I could publish reports from Crystal Reports XI to the CMC then right-click on the report title in the Repository Explorer (in Crystal Reports) and I had the option to select Manage Object where I could set the default settings for the CMC. I am not seeing this option in the new version of Crystal Reports. Is there something I need to do to see this option or has this option been removed from Crystal Reports 2013?

    Hi Kelley,
    You're right, the option doesn't exist in CR XI R2 and above.
    All the options now need to be set in CMC.

  • Error: No universe found for this document in the CMC

    Hi,
    We have a universe which drives around 45 Web Intelligence reports in Business Objects XI R2.
    Recently, when I made changes in the universe and tried to export it, the Designer interface hung and further it was found that the universe file got corrupted for some reason.
    Now, the administrator deleted the universe from the CMC and exported a copy of the same universe that I had saved on my local machine before exporting. He was successful in doing so. However, when the associated Webi reports are accessed, an error message " Some objects are no longer available in the universe. Error 10001 Error INF" is displayed.
    In the CMC, FOLDERS> Report Properties > Universe: shows - " No document found for this document"
    I know we are missing out on something simple. Any pointers will be extremely helpful.
    Many thanks!!

    I beleve there was a unique identifier for the old universe.  You could probably restore from an old cms database backup and filestore backup to get it back that way.  The other (probably better option) would be to go into the webi documents themselves and specify the universe there.  I believe XIR2 had this functionality although I don't recall for sure when it was introduced (may have been 3.x).  There may be some other alternatives, these are the few that came to mind initially.  Good luck!

  • Publisher Permissions on the CMC in XI 3.1 SP2

    We have a Developers group (with a Developers custom access list) within the CMC.  Aside from universe and report development, we would also like to have the developers create publications.  The permissions have been set so a developer can create a publication, however, they cannot see any users or groups in the Enterprise Recipients list.  I've tried updating the settings through the CMC to allow for this, but haven't been able to find the right combination.  The Administrator, of course, has no issue seeing the Enterprise Recipients list.  Does anybody know what settings should be used to bring this list back?
    We are using XI 3.1 with SP2 on a Windows 2008 server.  The 3.1 Publisher Guide hasn't been all that helpful.  It gives the generic "View right on users and groups intended as recipients" rights that are required.  I have tried updating settings in Users and Groups, Publications, Profiles, General, etc.
    Any help would be much appreciated!

    The client would like to send content (PDF mostly) to users outside of the BusinessObjects environment.  As an FYI, we are using Active Directory authentication.
    I tried a couple of things.  The first was including the Enterprise Recipients and then adding additional users in the Destinations section by appending additional email addresses after the %SI_EMAIL_ADDRESS% parameter in the To: text field.  This resulted in the non BusinessObjects users receiving emails multiple times (the number of Enterprise Recipients).  As a workaround, we added these two additional users to the Active Directory group so we could include them in Enterprise Recipients.
    My test with the Dynamic Recipients included creating a WebI report that included a Project ID, Full Name, and Email and using that report as my source for Dynamic Recipients.  I continued getting the following error, which I sent to SAP Support:
    ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-96] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_27585 - [Publication ID # 27585] - Scheduling document job "Materialized View Freshness Report" (ID: 27,592) failed: An internal error occured while calling 'submitReport' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270) (FBE60502) [3 recipients processed.]
    Both WebI reports refresh correctly through InfoView - the dynamic recipient source document and the source document specified for refresh.

  • How to show the "SIA name" in the CMC screen(s) for administration ( BI 4.1 SP5)

    When logging on to "BI4" (cmc) we have several options.
    First option: the web page for the login.
    Our system has 3 SIA's ( DEV , TEST , PROD ), three Tomcat "web app servers" with respective urls
    DEV is a simple one: everything on one machine.
    (exceptions: databases in Oracle, IFRS / OFRS are NAS mapped to D:/something on the BI4-DEV server)
    TEST is separated:
    tomcat on an application server (url:bi4-web-test) ,
    one "management server" BI4-MAN-TEST for SIA,
    a "processing server" BI4-PRO-TEST for the processing services.
    PROD is much like test, only more processing servers on extra machines
    BUT
    logging on to CMC, at either one of these 3 URLs : http:/<siaservername>/BOE/CMC/ ,
    I still have the option: "Server:" ( BI4-DEV , BI4MAN-TEST, BI4MAN-PROD : three different "manager" or SIA names)
    So starting from BI4-DEV, I can log on to BI4-PROD
    My problem: the URL shown in the browser navbar now does NOT tell me any more at which server I am working. The url only shows where I logged in.
    Is it possible to SHOW the ACTUAL SERVER somewhere - say next to the logged-in user name ?
    Instead having a page header showing:
    ... <preferences> ... Welcome, Administrator
    I imagine it showing:
    ... <preferences> ... Welcome, Administrator ON <SIA>
    Is this at all possible ?
    In Boxi 3.1 we could modify the "header layout" for InfoView. Users would see our company logo, their login name ... but we never did that for boxi 3.1 "CMC"
    Now in BI4.1 , with the much more complicated setup, we want to do that.
    I did not find it in the "Administrators' Guide" .... yet.
    Hans Rens,
    Brussels

    ( long reply)
    Thank you for this First step.
    Though reading through your reply, I understand that my question was not clear.
    On the (Launchpad) LOGIN page, I see the company name. That page thus was “customized”
    On the CMC login page, we didn’t customize it. We judged that “Administrators know what they are doing”
    and that “ICT personnel can live with reading the SAP logo instead of company logo/name/colours”
    BUT
    Once logged in to the CMC, every “internal page” (the menu, the Universes page, the Applications page, the Users and Groups – page … ) have a uniform header saying :
    Welcome: HANREN | Preferences | | Log Off
    (yes, HANREN is the name of the BI User logged on)
    I would like to make it something like :
    Welcome: HANREN | BI4MAN-PROD | Preferences | | Log Off
    Where the red name is “the name of the SIA, a.k.a. “manager server” for the (prod) cluster. (or test cluster – and when nothing is showing, we will know “this is DEV” because we “did not customize that one” )
    WHY ?
    At login, everybody KNOWS where he is logging in to, because you need to supply the SERVER NAME
    But further on, working in two (or more) browser windows / tabs, one needs a way to find “where I am”.
    This goes fine, when logging in to DEV on the DEV URL, then opening a second window and logging in to the TEST URL and on the test sia.
    But SWITCHING from one window to another tab … a small indicator would be very helpful.
    Lucky escape ?
    We did have a problem recently, were two admins were loggin on / off to the different systems, looking for differences to correct something … but nobody wanted to “correct” a system that was working well.
    It was quite frustrating to find out that it was “very easy” to think I was working on system1 (in the url) while actually connected to the system3(sia)
    OK, we saw that in time, before the problem from system3 had been “implemented” on system1, instead of applying the solution (settings of working system1) to the faulty system3.
    But the stress of the error found, the search for solutions “asap” … has to be counted in. If there is a simple way to “know” where one is working, instead of having to “guess” , human mistakes can be brought to a minimum.
    This morning I tested again: it is perfectly possible, to open 3 browser windows on exactlu the same URL, then open 3 DIFFERENT CMS logins : one on prod, another on test, a third one with my colleagues login also on test … and the navigation bar will NOT show who is adding user groups in which system.
    Thank you for the first step hint, though. I’ll add it to our documentation.
    It is a little different in BI 4.x than in our boxi-3.x setup )

    To change the default session timeout value  for the CMC perform the following steps:
    To modify the default session timeout value in the CMC, search for web.config in the
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11\Web Content folder.
    Open web.config in a text editor like Notepad and search for the following 'sessionState' section.
    <sessionState
    mode="InProc"
    stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424"
    sqlConnectionString="data source=127.0.0.1;user id=sa;password="
    cookieless="false"
    timeout="20"
    />
    3. Change the 'timeout' attribute to set a new default session timeout value (in minutes).
    Upon completing these steps, the default session timeout value in the CMC  is updated.

  • The page for License Keys in the CMC is blank

    After I had installed XI 3.1 inkluding some desktop tools, I had to uninstall Xcelsius. The result was that the License Keys page in the CMC turned blank. I am not able to add/change or even see my license keys anymore.
    How to get this back?

    Hi,
    Please refer to this link for better understanding of CIN
    [CIN|http://www.docstoc.com/docs/8264622/CIN]

  • Xcelsius server is mising in the  server section of the CMC

    Hello friends
    I have installed the Xcelsius Server in my BO server.  But I can't see it in the Category service at the Severs section of the CMC.
    I think this happens because the Xcelsius software was installed after the BO Server. Maybe is needed  a script to tell the BO server than the xcelsius is able to work.
    Reading this link, activate the xcelsius server should be easy but it does not show up:
    Link: [ How to enable Xcelsius servers on BOE XI 3.1 SP3  |http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/HowtoenableXcelsiusserversonBOEXI3.1+SP3]
    I see in the WebApplicationContainerServer/config.xml file that this service is not loading:
    <module load="false" name="businessobjects/XcelsiusService/1/war" />
    And the XcelsiusService is  in the server already.
    WebApplicationContainerServer\businessobjects\Xcelsius\12\Xcelsius-12.war
    What do I have to do in order to see the XcelsiusService loaded? Am I in the right direction to solve this issue?
    Thanks!

    just copy the text from the web page you mentioned for your reference:
    Once the installation is completed, 3 steps are required for a patch install scenario, and only 2 steps for a full install.
       1. (skip if you ran a full install) run the following command line on each machine that may host an Xcelsius server to activate the new server types
          "INSTALLDIR\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\scripts\AddNode.bat" -name NODENAME -update -cms cmsName:cmsPort
          -user Administrator -password Password123
          NODENAME is the name of the Server Intelligence Agent (can be obtained from the Central Configuration Manager)
          Run it with administrative privileges on Windows Vista, 2008 or 7
          INSTALLDIR/....bobje/AddNode.sh -name NODENAME -update -cms cmsName:cmsPort -user Administrator -password Password123
       2. add the new Xcelsius servers from the Central Management Console (CMC)
       3. configure the Query As A Web Service end point within the dswsbobje web application
          open DSWSBOBJE_INSTALLDIR/WEB-INF/web.xml file and add these lines
          <filter>
               <filter-name>XcelsiusQaawsAccelerator</filter-name>
                  <description>Qaaws Runtime Query Accelerator</description>
                  <filter-class>com.sap.xcelsius.server.QaawsRuntimeRequestFilter</filter-class>
          </filter>
          <filter-mapping>
                  <filter-name>XcelsiusQaawsAccelerator</filter-name>
                  <url-pattern>/qaawsservices/*</url-pattern>
          </filter-mapping>
    After a restart of the dswsbobje web application and a start up of the 2 Xcelsius servers, all QaaWS queries will be redirected to those new servers. You do not need to restart the entire BOE cluster.

  • How to you enforce special characters under Authentication in the CMC?

    Is there a way to to enfoce special characters in the password for user authentication?  I do know BO XI R2 SP3 does allow special characters, but I would like to notify users when they get prompt to change their password.

    Margaret,
    Using the CMC, navigate to the entry entitled "Authentication", next choose the tab "Enterprise".
    There are two key options (they appear towards the top), and here is a brief explanation of these:
    When you enable the enforce mixed-case passwords option, then it ensures that passwords contain at least two of the following character classes: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, or punctuation.
    The second option, must contain at least (N) characters stipulates the minimum length that a user can choose for his or her password.
    From a practical point of view, I would say that if you have the first option taken (enforce mixed-case), then your next option should be set at no lower than 8.
    As far as educating the user, this is done externally from the web page when it presents to the user (the user gets three prompts:  old password, new password, and re-type new password).  As far as a clue to using at least two of the upper/lower/number/punctuation in their password, I don't know how you communicate that other than an internally circulated "Introduction to Our System" handout and you include this tidbit amongst other details you'd like your users to know, etc, etc.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Don't see Windows NT option in authentication tab on the CMC login page

    I installed BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 and installation was successful. We are using Widows NT athentication.  I mapped the Window NT Users. Window NT Users group was populated under u2018users and groupu2019. Everything looks fine.The problem is that I am not able to see Windows NT option in authentication tab on the CMC login page. (I can see only Enterprise, LDAP and Windows AD). I can  see Windows NT option in authentication tab on the infoview login page without problem.
    I tried to reconfig the web.xml file ( I replaced 'secEnterprise' with 'secWindowsNT' but it still doesnu2019t work).
    web.xml in E:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\warfiles\WebApps\CmcApp\WEB-INF is as followed now
    <!-- You can specify the default Authentication types here -->
        <!-- secEnterprise, secLDAP, secWinAD, secSAPR3 -->
        <context-param>
            <param-name>authentication.default</param-name>
            <param-value>secWindowsNT</param-value>
        </context-param>
        <!-- Choose whether to let the user change the authentication type -->
        <!-- If it isn't shown the default authentication type from above will be used -->
        <context-param>
            <param-name>authentication.visible</param-name>
            <param-value>true</param-value>
    Any idea? Thanks

    Sherri, on page 457 of the admin guide it says:
    "The CMC and other Java-based applications do not support NT
    authentication."
    I think it's because only windows based app supports windows NT authentication but not java based ones.
    I thinkt he CMC is a java based application.

  • WebElements: What should the default URL be in the CMC

    Hi,
    Had issues with displaying the HTML output on update and refresh of a given report selecting specific categories. Current, using CR 2008 and Central Management Console(CMC) Product 12, 2008.
    Cannot view the report's output using webElements like SelectDuo, SelectLink etc. When one clicks on a filter from the formula passed to the SelectDuo
    the report redirects to the SAP Business Objects info-view Logon page.
    Here is the default URL, in the CMC: Does it need to be tweaked to view the result of the same report refreshing itself without prompting for a login.
    https://internal_servername:8443/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=%SI_CUID%
    Thanks,
    -Rp

    In order to use OpenDocument without getting a login screen, one of two things need  to happen:
    1.  If you have single-sign-on enabled for BI Launchpad, it can also be enabled for OpenDocument.  See the Platform Administrators Guide for more information about how to configure this.
    2.  If you don't have any type of single-sign-on, you'll need to have a valid session/logon token that you can add to the end of the OpenDocument URL.  For more information about how to build an OpenDocument call, go to help.sap.com/bobip.  This will bring up the list of help docs for BI 4.1.  If that's not your version, find your version on the left side of the screen and click on it.  Then go to the "Development Information" for that version and find something like "Viewing Documents Using OpenDocument...".  If there is no link for that (it wasn't updated and published for every SP), try the next earlier SP.  Keep trying until you find it.   This will give you information about how to add a logon token to the URL.

  • BO Edge 3.0 - Changing The CMC Port

    Hello Everyone,
    Can someone please tell me if it is possible to change the port that CMC runs through - ours is currently set to 8080 (the same as InfoView) and we would like to change it if possible...if indeed it can be done, please can you advise on how to do so?
    Many Thanks.

    Hi,
    i believe its in one of the following web.xml files. Just open them and search for "8080"
    <TOMCAT_INSTALL_DIR>\conf\web.xml
    <TOMCAT_INSTALL_DIR>\webapps\InfoViewApp\WEB-INF\web.xml
    Alternativly you could search the whole tomcat dir for "web.xml" and search each file for "8080" and change the entries to your port. But there will be a lot of web.xml Files.

    -Seb.
