Fedora Core 2 Oracle Calendar Client

I am having trouble using this application. As root I can start the gui, press the other button and enter the host nmae of the server, as soon as I press the Lookup button I get this error message :
/usr/local/OracleCalendar/bin/Ocal: relocation error: /usr/local/OracleCalendar/bin/Ocal: symbol __pthread_atfork, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libpthread.so.0 with link time reference
As a normal user running the gui immediately throws me out with the same error.
Has anyone seen this before ?
Many thanks for your help,
Neil.

The 9.0.4.2 client is working properly for me on Fedora Core 2 both as root and as a regular user. Have you applied any patches to your system or is it still a stock CD install? (Mine is still stock)

  • MSI package for Oracle Calendar Client

It would make the deployment/upgrades of the Oracle calendar much easier if it was distributed as a microsoft installer package .msi file so that I could install it automatically on my windows clients by group policy.
The former product "Steltor/CorpoateTime" used to be available as an .msi in addition to a .exe format.
    Any suggestions?

the best way is to make a snapshot of the oracle calendar setup and convert it into a msi package. wise for windows installer (http://www.wise.com/wfwi.asp) is a reliable and easy to use software to make such msi packages from installation snapshots.

  • Error when trying to create Calendar Client GPO

I am trying to create a GPO in a Windows 2003 domain to deploy Oracle Calendar Client 10.1.2. I run cal_win_1012.exe /a and it installs the app in the specified network location (\\Server\Share\OracleCalendar\program files\Oracle\Calendar) and the 'Oracle Calendar.msi' file in this location. When i attempt to create a GPO with this MSI file, it gives the following error:
Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct.
I am able to browse to the MSI file from a PC and run the installer, and it installs, i just cannot create a GPO with the MSI file. Any help is appreciated.

Might be an idea to search support.microsoft.com for the errormessage (or Google). Seems that you are not alone. Could be a bug in Windows and not in the package.
I see things like this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324886

How would one add default server connections to the base Windows Oracle Calendar Client installer? I would like to have predefined servers setup with the install so I don't have to set them up for each user. Thanks for any tips!

  • Oracle Calendar - System Tray icon

    Hi All,
    Thanks a lot in advance.
Was wondering if there is any way to keep the Oracle Calendar client minimized to the system tray.
Most of the times i lose interest in opening, closing the client many times in a day
( because i dont want to keep a taskbar icon showing for the client)
I have checked in the Options but could not find a hint
Please suggest if this is possible... Or is it possible to consider as an Enhancement ?
    Thnakyou once again,
    Warm Regards,
    Swathi

I find Oracle Calendar's lack of a minimize-to-tray option intolerable.
As a result, I've resorted to using a small utility program, Trayconizer ([http://www.whitsoftdev.com/trayconizer/]).
There's some more info on it at [http://www.freewaregenius.com/2008/06/13/trayconizer-add-built-in-minimize-to-tray-functionality-to-your-apps/].
    In Windows, simply:
    1) Create a shortcut to the trayconizer exe
    2) Right click on the shortcut icon, select properties
    3) Select the Shortcut tab and in the Target field, specify the path of the executable to be passed as a parameter
    (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Trayconizer\Trayconizer.exe" "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Calendar\OCal.exe")

  • Oracle Calendar MacOSX and SyncML

    Hi!
I am a bit lost after reading tons of threads and links...
    Here my questions:
    1. I sync my Pocket PC running WM5 and SyncML client from Synthesis.ch to sync with Space2go.com, which works fine. On the other side I would love to sync that server with Oracle Calendar. Unfortunately the server address given is not being accepted by Oracle Calendar.
What could be the issue? The server address is http://sync.sync2go.com/sync/ml.dll
Could it be that Ocal does not support SyncML?
    2. I have no clue why I cannot import any ics files from iCal into my agenda. I get the error message: There are no valid entries to import!
Am I completely on the wrong track or could someone enlighten me?
    cheers Nicolas

I had the same problem using Oracle's iCalendar Import option with some iCAL files, this is what I learned:
Using: Oracle calendar client V10.1.2.0.0.710 for Mac OS X (I have not tested on Windows client).
The iCAL (.ics) file was generated from IBM Lotus Notes 7.
    ie. "PRODID:-//Lotus Development Corporation//NONSGML Notes 7.0//EN"
    Issues:
-- 1. Time zone string using by IBM was not supported by Oracle in format "Eastern".
    needed: America/New_York
-- 2. If the event has "RECURRENCE-ID" line it will not import into Oracle
-- 3. Events with RDATE line and "VALUE=PERIOD" in will not import into Oracle
    Details:
I have found solutions four problems in the iCS file from IBM that stop the import:
    1. Time Zone not valid:
         DTSTART;TZID="Eastern":20070529T140000
         DTEND;TZID="Eastern":20070529T150000
    Change in to:
         DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20070529T140000
         DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20070529T150000
    fixes the problem.
    2. Time zone not valid ie.:
         TZID:Eastern
    changed to:
         TZID:America/New_York
    fixes the problem.
    3. deleting the line:
    RECURRENCE-ID;RANGE=THISANDFUTURE:20070529T173000Z
    4. PROBLEM: "PERIOD" format not support converting to "DATE" works.

  • Oracle Linux Calendar 9.0.4.2/10 and Fedora Core 5

    Hi folks --
I recently migrated from FC4 to FC5 (did a fresh install), and to my chagrin, the Oracle Calendar linux client install is now broken. This was running fine under both FC4 and RHEL 4. Here is the error I receive on any of the installs (silent/text/graphical):
    [root@pcalarco OracleCalendar_inst]# sh silent_install.sh

I know Fedora Core isn't officially supported, but does anyone have a solution for this? Are these just path errors for the JRE as in previous problems with Fedora?
Also, does Oracle Calendar 10 run any better in FC5?
    Many thanks in advance!

    --------------------------------------------------

I did some searching, and found that this is a common problem with many applications migrating from FC4 to FC5. This problem is caused due to incompatibility of the installer's Java Run-time Environment with certain system libraries.
In order to solve this, run these commands on the {OracleCalendar_install/cal_linux_904 file:
    $ cp cal_linux_904 cal_linux_904.bak
    $ cat cal_linux_904.bak | sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > cal_linux_904
    $ rm cal_linux_904.bak
    Now the installers work fine.

  • Install and Configure Oracle client in Fedora core 3

    Hi guys
    I am raghu ,
I need a help regarding Oracle client installation in Fedora core 3
can any one guide where to get oracle client and installation steps
    Thanks
    Raghu

    Hello.
You could use paper for installation of 9i or 10g database because client is one of options of installer.
    http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora9_fedora.html
    http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora10gR2_fedora.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/install/index.html
You could also install only instant client (so you don't need download all 3 CDs of Oracle database) and set appropriate enviroment.
    You could obtain it from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/instantclient.html

  • Oracle 9i Client on Fedora Core 3

Has anyone managed to successfully install Oracle 9 Client on Fedora Core 3? Installing the 10g Client was no problem, but I need to run the 9i Client as the 10g Client cannot be used when connecting to 9i our Management Server.
    All help appreciated!

you need to tell path to script.
    like /instatntclient_odbc.sh /usr/local
/usr/local is the place where unixodbc configuration fiels are placed
If you are done with your setup.
Can you please let me know whether oracle client software is also required or oracle instant client 10g and odbc will work

Fatal error: Call to undefined function odbc_connect() in /var/www/html/waseem.php on line 20
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is the problem with oci_connect or odbc_connect?
The phpinfo() output shows '--without-unixODBC' which may be a root cause. There is no 'odbc' section shown in the phpinfo() output so I wouldn't expect odbc calls to work.
But if the issue is with OCI8, then make sure that Oracle environment variables and LD_LIBRARY_PATH are set BEFORE starting Apache.
More information on OCI8 and PHP is in http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/underground-php-oracle-manual.html

  • Error Compiling php 5.1.6 with Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.5 on Fedora 5

    Hello
I have Oracle 10.1.0 enterprise database installed on a Windows 2003 server.
I have another machine that has Fedora Core 5 installed on it. I downloaded:
    Apache 2.2.3
    Php 5.1.6
OracleInstantClient 10.1.0.5 (base and skdk packages) from technet.oracle.com
I created a directory called /usr/lib/instantclient10_1 in which I unzipped
the files for the Oracle Instant Client and the SDK into /usr/lib/instantclient10_1.
    So inside /usr/lib/instantclient10_1 I have:
all the unzipped filed from the base for the instant client as well as
a directory called sdk with files inside this subdirectory.
    I compiled and installed Apache.
I then tried to configure php using the instantclient with the configure option
    --with-oci8=instantclient/usr/lib/instantclient10_1
The first time I did this I got the error: "link from
    /usr/lib/instantclient10_1/libclntsh.so to libclntsh.so.10
    not found"
Well I had the libclntsh.so.10 but no such link. So I did the following:
    ln -s libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so
I assume this was OK to do but I found it strange that I had to do this.
Question #1 - why should I have to do this?
I then tried to configure php again but got an error that I paste in from
the debug.log. From this debug log you can see the configure options I gave for
php as well as the error. It says "cannot find -lirc". Now I did put into
/etc/ld.so.conf the line /usr/lib/gaim since that is where libirc.so is and ran
ldconfig but it still complained. When I copied libirc.so into /usr/lib it then said there were
lots of errors in that libirc.so. The only item in the configure options depending on lirc is
the with-oci8.  Why does with-oci8 depend on lirc?
I also tried the above on Red Hat AS 4.0 and got the same errors.
    Question #2 -- what do I do?
    Thank You
    Gail Lange
Here is the debug.log in the case when libirc.so is just in /usr/lib/gaim:

    '--enable-inline-optimization' '--with-gd' '--with-zlib' '--enable-debug'

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure. Everything I could find on it had to do with IRC or some kind of remote control thing (for controlling audio/media players). Maybe if Ivan stops by he'll know what it means... he knows quite a lot about the inner workings of many of these libraries.
http://us3.php.net/install.unix was the most useful info I could find.

  • Help Required for Oracle 9i Installation on Fedora Core 3

I am new to Linux on Oracle and wanted to set up oracle on Fedora Core 3.
    I have downloaded Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition
    for Intel Linux from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/linuxsoft.html
I have downloaded it on Windows XP Can any one please suggest me what should be the next steps to install it on Fedora Core 3?
    Thanks in advance

So copy downloaded installation from Windows to Linux machine using SCP.
You can download GUI SCP client here: http://winscp.net/eng/index.php
If you preffer command line tool then you can use PSCP tool: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
Then use some installation steps for Fedora for example you can use mine (follow exactly all steps):
    http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora9_fedora.html
Just little advice don't use root to login to Linux computer, use oracle instead (once it is created).

    2) XE Forum. If you have XE working and can get to the web page, you should see the link to register for the XE forum. You must register and then 'sign in' to see the XE forum. The link on your XE home page should point to http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration'
    1) What's the difference ... ?
OK ... here we go ....
Oracle has hundreds of products. I like to group them into 'technology' and 'application' products.
The 'technoloy' products I group into
    - data management == database
    - data access == applicaiton server (fusion)
    - data manipulation == developer tools and languages
    - data sharing == collaboration suite
Without data access, the data management and data manipulation is plain 'client-server' stuff.
With data access, you stick an application server (web server, J2EE server, other server) between the client and the database.
The Oracle Application Server is a collection of Oracle technology designed to support n-tier computing. The technology includes:
    - http server (Apache stuff)
    - reporting server
    - portal server
    - forms/data entry server
    - generic J2EE server
    - BPEL and SOA orchestration
    - Web Services server
    - workflow and intergration server
    - centralized security and single sign-on server
    and a lot more.
The Oracle database, of course, stores and manages data. Oracle now has many 'database managers', including
    - Oracle Database == the traditional one
    - Times Ten == in memory only, but very high speed
    - Berkeley == embedded (to be included as part of your application)
    - Lite == for laptops and remote devices
    and more
The traditional Oracle database has many features. These features may not be needed by all organizations. So Oracle has created several editions. These are Express, Standard Edition One, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition and Personal Edition. In the order presented, each adds more feature than the one before but includes all the features from the one before.
The Express Edition has the fewest features and the simplest install. It has no official Oracle support and has size limitations (4GB data max, only runs one 1 CPU). It includes Application Express which allows you to access the data from a web browser. I think of this as 'Microsoft Access, with Oracle multi-user reliability, on the Web'.
The Standard Edition One has everything from Express and adds: Java in the database, ability to use up to 2 CPU, many more features such as multi-media storage, no data size limit. It also changes the install to use the Oracle Univeral Installer.
Standard Edition adds Real Application Cluster to allow up to 4 CPU to be used, whether the 4 CPU are on one, two or four machines.
Enterprise Edition adds many high availability and scalability features to ensure the database will try to stay up all the time and will be able to handle many hundreds or thousands of users. Many DBA features are added to allow detailed tuning and management. And many options such as Partitioning, Label Security and Spatial can be purchased and added to this edition.
Personal Edition includes all of Enterprise Edition AND all of the Enterprise Edition options except Real Application Cluster. It is designed to be used by the Oracle developer so it is very inexpensive (in comparison to the Enterprise Edition) but it is limited (by the honor system) to one user access.
So when you use Express Edition, everytthing you do can be done in Enterprise Edition as well. Express Edition is a great learning tool for getting comfortable with the commercial Oracle database. It is also a great tool for developing applications for small organizations or even for home use. A great tutorial for XE is at http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm
All of this is described in a few pages of documentation (about 70 thousand) at http://docs.oracle.com. If you want to understand Oracle well, you may have to spend a bit less time with the nuns for a while.

  • Calendar client and fedora 3

    hi,
i've installed calendar client 9.0.4.2 and get an error when i try to start it:
"symbol __pthread_atfork, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libpthread.so.0 with link time reference"
    any tips???
    thanks...

    Hi,
I have come across a scenario which reproduces your problem. By chance are you using ldap authentication when logging into your Linux machine? On Fedora Core 3 this can cause your error. (Fedora Core 2 seems fine.)
If this is the case you can work around the problem by starting the nscd daemon on your local machine.
Note that this has nothing to do with using ldap to authenticate with the calendar server. In this case ldap is being used as an alternative to nis when authenticating the user on the local linux box.
    Cheers,
    Peter.

Error while installing Oracle 10g on Fedora Core 1. After 40% of the Installation is thru, the progress bar is showing 40%, it gives error "Not connected to Oracle" and the installation has to be terminated.
We have tried by using the on-line procedure and changing the required script to make believe it as said.
