Fedora

Hello everybody.
Im a developer and I work with Oracle Database 10R2 ,Forms & Reports DevSuite, and Apex and Red Hat Linux ES/AS 4 all in one computer installed.
I know that I can install Oracle Database in Fedora, (www.oracle-base.com) but, my question is : Can I install DevSuite and work good ,with Forms & Reports, also in Fedora ?
Thanks in advanced and regards everybody.

On site I write you, there are all step for install db (11g also) on Fedora.
You was talking me about Fedora free,
you thought then to CentOs which is similar to Red-hat(3,4,5) and 100%Free and for and for some things (i.e. upd2date against Yum) better than Red-hat
And belive me, I have some Installation, Oas,
various Db (from 10 to 11g on VmWare on Red-hat and centOs and never had problems)
Anyway, I think if you install 10G Forms/report on fedora or centOs you will not ever problems.

  • Installation problem on fedora linux

    Hi
    I am trying to install oracle 10g to Fedora Linux.
    When I type ./runInstaller :
    Exception java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/OraInstall2007-08-21_12-40-12AM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so:...........................
    Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
    Please help me to solve this problem

    Ricardinho,
    try post full error message (or stack trace) because in this case we can only guess...
    Also when you post name of Linux distribution then don't forget post the version.
    Anyway according to partial error message I think there is missing libXp.so.6 library on your OS.
    So execute "yum install libXp" to install required package. Od locate the package on installtion media and install it via "rpm -ivh" command.
    Note: In FC5 and later libXp.so.6 is included in libXp package. In FC4 and older releases you need to install xorg-deprecated-libs package.

  • Running under fedora 2 kernel 2.6

    labview crashes when run under fedora 2 with the new kernel 2.6. error message is LabVIEW caught fatal signal
    7.0 - Received SIGSEGV
    Reason: address not mapped to object
    Attempt to reference address: 0x27e1bf7c
    Will kernel 2.6 be supported soon?

    I'm able to run LV 7.0 on kernel 2.6.3 without problems. However, I've
    read that it could have trouble with the new threading system in 2.6.x.
    LV 7.1 supposedly resolves potential threading issues. Still, you should
    be able to at least open LV without any problems - from what I've seen so
    far.
    I bet the problem you're seeing is more links to the Fedora 2 distibution.
    Be careful with Fedora, they tend to use the most recent release of
    everything. I had a similar discussion with someone less than a month
    ago. Looked like there was a problem with the version of glibc libraries
    in Fedora 2. I'm not sure what he did next, he never replied to the
    group. I bet he went back to Fedora 1.
    Good luck!

  • Fedora 13: After upgrading from FF3.6 to FF6.0.2 I no longer have a Java plugin. How do I configure the Java Plugin for FF 6 ? There is no Java Plugin at the site

    I am Fedora 13x64 bit. I just installed FF v6.0.2 from the FF download site. I backed up the existing FF 3.6 as firefox_old
    I need to have a Java plugin to access company site, how do I configure the Java Plugin ?
    At the Plugin area in FF6 there is no Java Plugin available, even after a search.
    I have Java 1.6.0 installed in the OS at:
    /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
    I googled how to configure Java Plugin for FF 6 for Fedora 13 and the trick was to create a soft link from /home/<userID>/.mozilla/plugins to the above libnpjp2.so

  • J2esdk installation problem on fedora 2

    Hello All
    I am tring to install the j2eesdk-1_4_01-linux.bin on my newly intalled redhat fedora system
    while running on command prompt as
    $./j2eesdk-1_4_01-linux.bin
    it gives error message like
    ./j2eesdk-1_4_01-linux.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    please help me
    Thank you

    This hang is a known issue on some Linux distributions and seems to triggered by particular environment settings. To work around it, you can run:
    /j2eesdk-1_4_01-linux.bin -javahome <java_directory>
    where java_directory is location where you have preexisting JDK or JRE 1.4.1 or higher,
    If you don't have preexisting JRE or JDK installation, you can also take a look at workaround (unzip and invoking Java installation wizard directly) described in this thread:

  • Studio Creator installation problem with Fedora 5

    Hi,
    I tried installing JCreator in Fedora core 5, but I get the problem concerning the graphical installation. I tried installing Jcreator in silent mode using the command line options -is:log log.txt silent and a sp file which sets the installDir and is.debug to 1 , however the installation does not complete, properly and it does not install the SunAppServer8 directory

    I can't recall what they are, but I know that there are some libs that you need to install to get the Creator installation to complete OK on Fedora 5.
    I think that I ended up using some libs from either Fedora 3 or 4 since there were no Fedora 5 versions available for the two (and again, I can't recall what they were) libs.
    I do know that it is possible though as I have Creator on Fedora 5 right now.

  • 9i installation problem on Fedora 5

    Hi,
    I am having some difficulties when installing Oracle 9i on Fedora 5 using the article from http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora9_fedora.html.
    Specifically, it is when "switching the GCC3 compiler binary with GCC2 compiler binary as following" by doing these:
    su -
    # cd /usr/bin
    # mv ./gcc ./gcc3
    # mv ./gcc296 ./gcc
    When entering the 3d line, I got this message:
    mv: cannot stat './gcc': No such file or directory.
    Can someone help?
    cder.

    I was kind of succesful to bypass this step. However now I have another issue. The article that I have been following (http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora9_fedora.html) says to install j2re-1_3_1_15-linux-i586.bin, or higher. So I downloaded jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin.
    // part of article
    Login as root and make the the file executable and then execute it. When the JRE is exracted move the "jre1.3.1_15" di rectory to "/opt" directory.
    # chmod +x j2re-1_3_1_15-linux-i586.bin
    # ./j2re-1_3_1_15-linux-i586.bin
    # mv jre1.3.1_15 /opt/
    // end of the part of article
    I assume a directory will be generated after extracting the file. However, I did the first 2 lines using the appropriate file names but there is no new directory.
    Can someone help? I am a real newbie on this. :-)

    the GUI is completly goes to wait stage. it shows a white screen.
    what is the problem please post the solution immediatly.
    Regards,
    Sateesh.

    Dear sateesh,
    could you please explain in more detail what you are referring to when saying
    In our organization sap is installed on fedora linux with 'jre1.6.0_14'
    In this forum, we normally assume that you mean SAP on the server side. But the subject of this thread is called, SAPGUI problem, therefore I assume that you are only facing SAPGUI problems on the client side (and not the server side).
    SAPGUI problem on the Client side:
    For officially supported distributions for the JavaGUI [1] are mentioned in SAP note 959236 - Supported Java frontend platforms for 7.10 / 7.11 / 7.01. This note says that Fedora Linux is supported, so you are on the safe side here.
    Also, the JavaGUI is fully compatible with Java 1.6. I', using the JavaGUI with jdk1.6.0_14 without any problems. I'm using a small script to start the JavaGUI on my machine. You should try it youself. Please note that you have to adept the paths accordingly. Sometimes it happens that some variables are not set correctly. Also, the Java path is very important!
    #!/bin/sh
    # SAP GUI Path
    SGP=/home/hannes/data/progs/sapgui/SAPGUI7.10rev8
    export SNC_LIB=/usr/lib/libsecude.so

  • For the 10^6 time -- JMF on Fedora does not work!

    I've tried everything under the Sun (no pun intended), and I've seen many other people with this same problem, but no solution...
    (1) I installed the performance pack version of JMF 2.1.1 for Linux.
    (2) I modified my .bash_profile to read as follows...
    PATH=/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/bin:$PATH
    export PATH
    JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06
    export JAVA_HOME
    JMFHOME=/usr/java/JMF-2.1.1e
    CLASSPATH=$JMFHOME/lib/jmf.jar:.:${CLASSPATH}
    export JMFHOME CLASSPATH
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$JMFHOME/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
    (3) Just to beat a dead horse, I even copied-pasted the following:
    /JMF-2.1.1e/lib/*.jar --> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/lib/ext/
    /JMF-2.1.1e/lib/*.so --> /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/lib/i386/
    both *.jar and *.so --> /usr/mozilla/plugins/
    (4) But when I try running the online diagnostic applet
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/jmfdiagnostics.html
    I get the following:
    Java 1.1 compliant browser.....Maybe
    JMF classes.....Not Found
    and none of the sample JMF apps on the Sun website work.
    Any clues at all??? Does JMF not work on Fedora???
    I guess I'll just keep asking this question every few days until someone from Sun answers?
    Thanks anyways...

    Yes, I didn't make that clear (first thing in the morning). Even though the JMF Diagnostic applet doesn't work for me on RedHat 9.0 using the Java Plugin with JDK 1.4.2, JMF DOES work for me from the command line. It seems that the Java 1.4.2 Plugin isn't finding JMF on the path. For me, the Java 1.5 Plugin resolves this issue.

  • How can I stop firefox from auto discovering printers on fedora?

    On Linux Fedora (19 & 20 at least, likely others) Firefox automatically finds network attached printers, completely independently of CUPS. The printer it finds for me is legitimate, but it doesn't install drivers to make it work correctly. If this printer is used, it will print out gibberish; sometimes PDF control language, other times total junk. It won't render the page right, and wastes tons of paper.
    Thanks!

    Hi Debashis Mallick,
    it seems the program xuser need the libraries libdl.so.2 and libc.so.6 and don't find it.
    Both are in package glibc-2.6.x. ,maybe your have Version < 2.6 installed?
