Feed already submitted message on a new podcast feed?!?

Hi all,
I successfully submitted a podcast last year - here's the feed
http://www.carlturner.net/media/Podcasts/feeds/podcast01.xml
Come to submit a second podcast based on the code of the first feed
http://www.carlturner.net/media/Podcasts/feeds/podcast02.xml
Validated it - checked it downloaded to itunes but came to submit it and got the message 'It appears the feed has already been submitted'
How can this be? I know it's always something simple but I can't seem to suss this one. Any helpers?
Cheers

It's because the second podcast has the same name as the earlier one. If you change the title slightly in some way it will probably be accepted - you can change the title back when it has been.

I used to have a podcast that had been accepted on Itunes, but my I began to have problems with my host, so I changed host and created a new podcast, and I submitted my new podcast, Apple refused, and now says the feed has already been submitted? Maybe Itunes thought that I was someone trying to copy my old podcast because I kept the same name, I tried to change the names but it looks like I'm on a blocked list...

There is a procedure for changing the feed URL for a podcast, which it seems you haven't followed: you have to add a special tag to the old feed - just submitting a new feed will have exactly the effect you describe. The proper method is described here:

  • Podcasts show as already submitted

I recently had 3 podcasts removed from your iTunes store because I am changing the feed and, since I can't edit or change the source code on the prior feed (at Mevio), I had to have them canceled/removed, with the intent to resubmit them.
    All three podcasts...
    1. Podcast for Dummys
    2. Gracie Sez Hai
    3. Topical Vacation
...were removed as requested. As of early yesterday there are no traces of the show or any episodes when doing a search on any of them.
When attempting to submit the new podcast RSS feeds for any of the three, I get the message "podcast appears to already have been submitted" (to paraphrase). I understand that this is because it recognizes the title information in the podcast as being the same as what I previously had, however, again, those podcasts have been removed, so they should not be showing as having already been submitted.
Additionally, I could understand if perhaps these new feeds were already being reviewed - thus the message above - however, I have not received any email notifying me that this is the case. I know that were one to be sent, I should receive it, as another podcast I just submitted (which hadn't had a previous incarnation on iTunes) went through the submission, notification and acceptance process with no problems.
At this point, what is keeping me from being able to submit these feeds if the previous podcasts have been removed? Do I have to wait for some time to be able to submit them or have they already been submitted with their new feed successfully? Who would I contact to find out?
Thank you. I'm happy to answer any questions in order to sort this out.

It doesn't say anything about "Other iTunes Store Features" but it does have "iTunes U & Podcasts". However, in whatever way I get to the Express Lane, it keeps on asking for an order number (presumably from the store), and won't let me continue.
For now I guess I'll have to try just changing the name and hope I can change it back. Until I can get a hold of someone at Apple, anyway.
    Thanks Roger!

  • Old podcast rss feed no longer exists, do I need to creat a new podcast show for new rss feed?

    Hi,
I have an established podcast (Tommy Unit Live) but the RSS feed is no longer valid. Do I need to request a new show (set up a new show) to update with the currect RSS feed?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
    Tom Meehan

Do you mean that the old feed no longer exists and you don't have access to the server to replace it? In that case your best hope is to email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to transfer the iTunes Store's attention to the new feed: give them the ID number or the URL of the Store page, and the URL of the new feed - check this beforehand by subscribing manually in iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) so that you are sure you are dealing with a working feed.
They've just done this for someone else so hopefully they will do it for you: the alternative is to start again from scratch and submit the new feed as a completely new podcast (you would need to change the title slightly or you will be told it has already been submitted).

  • How do I change picture, author and description of new podcast submitted?

So I just submitted a new podcast, The Jay and Clay Show, and it was accepted by iTunes. However it has the wrong picture, author and description and I need to change it. Apple's technical support e-mail was not too helpful on this. Also I am not too knowledgeable about RSS feeds so if you could please explain the steps necessary to change this that would be great.
My RSS feed URL is: thejayandclayshow.wordpress.com/feed
    and my URL is: thejayandclayshow.wordpress.com

You will need to enter the new name and category in the same places that you entered the current ones. However you need to check whether this will affect the feed URL: some services incorporate the title into the feed URL so changing the title would change that and iTunes would lose contact with the feed. If the feed URL doesn't contain the title you should be good to go. Exepct the Store to take a couple of days or so to update.

  • Having problems getting podcast on iTunes, tried to resubmit and got an already submitted error

Having problems getting podcast on iTunes, tried to resubmit and got an already submitted error. How can I get the podcast on iTunes?

You didn't need to get it removed: you can make any changes to a feed that you want, changing, adding or deleting episodes, and iTunes will pick them up.
However, in the present situation you have fallen over a bug in the submissions process. The workaround is changing the title; as this hasn't worked you need to change the feed URL if possible, and also you could change the contents of the 'link' tag.
If you can't get it sorted you could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to reinstate you (give them all the details) - their responses are a bit variable, but they may help you.

  • I tried to submit my podcast but showed difficulty in downloading and later showed already submitted please help!

I tried to submit my podcast but showed difficulty in downloading and later showed already submitted please help!

If your podcast was submitted but rejected for any reason then the automated part of the submissions process will give you that error despite the rejection - I assume it's a bug. The workaround is to change the title slightly.
But if they had difficulty downloading (what? - the feed, or the episodes - didn't they say) then you have a technical problem you need to address. Obviously I can't advise any further unless you care to post your feed URL.

  • Podcast already submitted, but never shows up

    http://www.returntothepit.com/itunes.xml
that is the feed.  I submitted it probably 5 years ago maybe more and it has never shown up.
When I try to add it again, it says it was already submitted and I never see any info on it.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I just emailed podcast at apple dot com... let's see if that gets me anything.

  • How can I sync my iPad 2 with my new MacBook Pro when it is already synced with my old MacBook? I am getting a message on the new MacBook Pro that says I am not allowed to sync the iPad 2 because it is synced to another iTunes library.

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
also, there are PhoneView and iRip.

It sounds unlikely of course. But from your question it's hard to tell what might have filled your HDD. Are you constantly on file sharing or has filled the drive with movies?
Best way to tell is to start checking what folders occupy space. "Get Info" for the HDD and its subfolders is a way to start checking where the data in question resides.
And as BGreg say, call Apple support is also a good way to begin with.

  • Getting "object already exists" message when trying to install new software.

Quite coincidentally, I came across a solution for the "object already exists" message that had recently been interferring with the downloading of new software.  This solution was offered by another on a different website, but it has solved my problem.
My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.
The Windows Security Update  KB2918614 seems to be wreaking havoc with some systems.  It did so with mine.
After removing this particular update, I am now able to install software (was actually just trying to reinstall my HP printer software as I am having another issue with it).
Don't know if this will help anyone else, but it worked for me.

To rid myself of the "object already exists" issues due to the Windows Security Update KB2918614 . . . I have learned that an additional step must be taken to keep Windows Updates from automatically reinstalling this update . . . once again, preventing installation of software.
One needs to hide the update to prevent Window Updater from reinstalling.
    Taken from the Windows community:
Marilyn - Support Engineer replied on December 9, 2008
The update in question can be hidden, which will prevent this update from downloading and installing.
    To hide this update:
           Open Control Panel
           Open Security
           Select ‘Windows Update
Select the option View Available Updates in the upper left hand corner
Locate the update in question, right click and select ‘Hide Update’
    Thanks
Once again, my operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate and this particular update was causing difficulty for my specific operating system.

  • I need some help with my new podcast. Please!

I've just set up a new podcast and it's online on itunes. The xml file is hosted on my website. Can i edit the text within this file...i.e. if there is a spelling mistake...ping this...and itunes will update it? Cos i tried doing that but no changes were made...any ideas?
Also, to generate my xml file, i used this website
    http://www.podcastblaster.com/podcast-feed/index.php
However i noticed that feedburner allows you to collate statistics on subscribers and podcast downloads....how can i switch to feedburner? i find this all so confusing. does anyone know what im talking about?

From looking at their site, Podblaster creates the feed file from the data you give it: so it's no good you editing the feed file yourself as Podblaster will over-write it the next time you add an episode. Any changes you make to data or episode in Podblaster will cause an amended version of the feed file to be uploaded and this will eventually be reflected in the itunes Store; it usually takes 1-2 days, occasionally longer, for new episodes to appear in the Store, and it's possible that minor amendments to the texts won't show until you upload a new episode.
To take advantage of Feedburner's statistics facilities you need to submit the feed to Feedburner, and then submit the feed it generates to the iTunes Store. This will involve you either using the procedure detailed here (which involves adding a special tag to the feed - something you may well not be able to do) or submitting this feed as a new podcast to the Store (which will necessitate making a small change to the name).
If you have any further queries please post both the URL of your feed and of the iTunes Store page (please include the http:// in both cases), without which it's possible only to give very general answers.

  • Adding new podcasts - not showing up in iTunes music store

Is there some sort of manual process that must be undertaken when you add a new podcast to your site, to get it to show up in itms?
I successfully added my podcast series (had two of them ready to go) and submitted to ITMS. They accepted it, and it shows up just fine there. But after adding a third episode last night, it still only shows two episodes this morning.
Is there something more I must do?
    Jim

OK, I got it to work by running the feed through
feedvalidator and fixing all the errors. The wierd
thing is that the xml file was created by a program
called RSSBuddy, so it shouldn't have been messed up.
Interesting. I suspect that the XML parser used by the iTunes Store is fussier than the iTunes software itself!
I guess I need to find a new program for editing the
    RSS feed. Any recommendations?
If you're on a Mac then Podcast Maker is a great choice. For Windows there's a product made by Feed4All.
    Cheers,
    Greg.

  • New Podcast Artwork help

    Hi there,
I created a new podcast which is now live in the iTunes Podcast Directory. The problem is that my artwork is not showing up. I have the itunes:image tag properly filled and the image appears when I navigate to it directly in a web browser.
    The Podcast Channel is: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/onone-university-webinars/id416896519
    The feed is: http://ononesoft.cachefly.net/video/webinar/podcast/feed.xml
The image is located at: http://ononesoft.cachefly.net/video/webinar/podcast/images/webinarlogo1.jpg
I don't want to start promoting the channel until I can get the artwork posted.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Brian

    Hello,
I've been trying to get my cover art to show up on iTunes since Nov/Dec. (See thread below). Roger confirmed my information was good to go, I've talked to iTunes support, and waited patiently, but no cover art work shows up in the iTunes Store. All I get is Apple's default purple podcast logo.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2686636&tstart=0
Could you please tell me more about changing the reference to a smaller image? What size was it before and after? Are you using iWeb? After referencing a smaller image, did you do anything else or did iTunes suddenly pick it up?
    My cover art was 300px X 300px and I just reduced it to 295px X 295pm.

  • How Long does it take for a NEW PODCAST to appear in iTunes?

I was curious if maybe you know the answer to this question- How long does it take for a brand new podcast, once submitted to iTunes, to appear in the podcast section of iTunes? Does it really take 5 days? And, will I receive an email once it's on there? Thanks!
    -hdtvguru

    Hi,
I found the answer to this question after doing two podcasts.
It takes about week and half to be fully listed. When you first submit you receive an automated email. Emailed to the email address of your podcast feed. Then your podcast page is created for itune store and you receive another email that it's approved. You should receive this email sometimes two days after you received the first but it still won't be browse able until another few weeks(ie. listed in category). In the mean time don't remove your podcast feed file from your hosting account and don't make changes which will change the link to the feed you submitted.
The only other part I couldn't figure out was why podcasts episodes don't come up when keywords from episode sections of podcast feed are typed in itune search box.
