Feedback on Firefox's claimed attempt to save the product/web

Greetings,
I have just Googled "How to turn off javascript in Firefox 23.0.1" and found this discussion thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/967188 and this blog post: http://limi.net/checkboxes-that-kill/
Feedback
a) Most probably you know there are many sites (specially blogs) who use javascript to disable right click, copy, hack clipboard, and many more things. So far, you could solve these by simply pressing ALT T O and one click. Now, you need to install an add on to do it. (I have not installed it still, I have 31 tabs open at this moment, I'll install it after finishing work).
b) In the blog post (linked above) they have said: "As Privacy Engineer Monica Chew at Mozilla asks, “Is it really worth having a preference panel that benefits fewer than 2% of users overall?” — obvious spoiler alert: The answer is no. "
— Do they have any data, what percentage of users use Inspect Element, Firefox shortcuts, view page source etc options?
c) (may not be practical, but relevant) They have marked this option as "disastrous", but,the adult sites, few screensaver etc download sites and their viruses are much much more dangerous. They may destroy the whole system.
d) If your browser's javascript is turned off, a good number of sites will give you error message "Your browser's javascript is disabled, please enable javascipt" or so.
e) Actually not only in Firefox, everywhere in the web people are trying to oversimplify things. We are customizing things keeping mobile users in mind, changing products options keeping social networking sites in mind, changing settings focusing "only" the newbies. I personally feel, each and every internet user should learn about malicious scripts/downloads/links, phishing, web safety, basic functions of javascript (as a part of "how web works).
f) A much better option could be an in-built alert system (the same way they ask to make Firefox your default browser) "Alert: Note, your browser's javascript is turned off. You may not be able to use may featured in the web including Google's search option. Do you want to turn on Javascript? [Yes/No/Details/I know it, don't show again]
That's all.
Thank you.

The removal of the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox probably has protected many users from aggravation and confusion, but clearly it has inconvenienced some other users, who now either need to use the about:config preference editor to switch JavaScript on/off or install an extension to make it more convenient.
The global on/off toggle was always too blunt an instrument to use for privacy/security. The NoScript extension (sites are guilty until proven innocent), the YesScript extension (sites are innocent until proven guilty), the Tab Permissions extension (tab by tab on/off toggle for scripts), and the Controle de Scripts extension (enable/disable various features scripts can use), offer much more powerful and flexible approaches to the danger and annoyance of scripts. For an advanced user such as yourself, they deserve strong consideration.
Could these features or some combination of them ever find their way into the core code of Firefox? Maybe, but it will be hard work and someone needs to be the champion to develop the vision and push it through.

  • How can read BOM component date before save the production order??

    Hi Experts,
In our company, we need to develop a program to read the BOM component data of the production order
before we save the production order.
That for example ,when we create and release a production order , before we save the production
order,we want a porgram to read the BOM component data. If some component data can meet our
requriement (may be if there is material requirement quantity>100 EA),then the system will pop up a
small dialog box to remind us.
There is user exit PPCO0007 and PPCO0007.But it seems they only can read the head data of the
production order before we save the production order. And the BOM component data of the production
order are saved in the RESB(Reservation Table). So if we do not save the production order, all the BOM
component data are not saved in the RESB table.
So how can slove the problem??
How can read component date before save the production order??
Are there any other user exit we can use???

Hi Just wanted to check am I right that you are trying to check if you have enough Materials Available before you release or Save the order right ? if this is your business objective then when you create order you have material availability tab which checks and gives error if shortage is there. Please let me know if is this wht you asking for ?

  • FIrefox won't let me save the same website to multiple bookmark files

I am using Firefox 19.0 on a MacBook Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2
I tried to bookmark a website in multiple folders. For example, this website had information about gardening, cleaning and beauty. I bookmarked it first in my gardening folder, then I changed the name of the bookmark and tried to save the site to my cleaning folder. I changed the name again and tried to save the site to my beauty folder. When I went back to check if it had worked, the site was not bookmarked in the gardening and cleaning folders, but was bookmarked in the beauty folder. I don't understand why I can't bookmark the same page in multiple folders. I may not think to look in the Beauty folder for information on gardening.

This has come up a few times before. Not sure whether all these old tricks work in the latest Firefox, but please take a look.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Getting an error message in Word when I am attempting to save the doc as a PDF - word then crashes.

This has only started happening today and I was using it fine yesterday - have tried 3 different ways to create a PDF (1) using the Acrobat tab on the top ribbon (2) Opening Acrobat and using 'create' - to upload a file (3) using save as a PDF [the Acrobat PDFMaker add-in].  I have uploaded the latest version of Acrobat, repaired my Microsoft Office 365.  Is there something I haven't addressed?

    Hey tracyc55762834,
Could you please tell me if you are facing this issue with any specific word file or all files.
You also stated that there is an error message, what is it?
If possible, please share a sample word doc with me so that I can check at my end.
I have sent you a private message with my contact id details.
    Hope to get your response.

  • Firefox 7.1 does not save the tab groups

    i have windows 10 and firefox 7.1

'''azizy.aris'''.....I have done EXACTLY what you have said and perhaps it has helped others but it has NOT helped me. Could you perhaps think of anything else that may be causing this??? I was saving them for awhile but all of a sudden it stopped. Do you think it's because I have the Firefox v. 4 Optimized for Yahoo!? I don't remember if it worked prior to me updating to the version for Yahoo or not. Any help you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thank you in advance for all your and anyone else's help.

  • Is Firefox 4 English (British) different from the product intended for U.S. use?

A page appeared on my computer offering an opportunity to download Firefox 4 English (British), but I am in the U.S. Is this product designed for U.S. use, or is there another version that is better suited.

You can get the English (US) version from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
For info the differences are fairly minor.
    * There are some spelling in the user interface that are different, for example colour instead of color
    * The default search engines used in the search bar are UK specific
    * It does not include a dictionary for the spell checker, you can add a dictionary from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/

  • How do I stop Firefox from claiming to have sessionrestore errors or opening the wrong session items and/or remember the wrong window size and/or position.

Since automatically updating to version 25 Firefox is randomly opening recent tabs and windows from the browsing history, and/or randomly positioning the browser window from history.
Currently using Firefox 25.0.1 on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Problems started immediately after automatic updates to 25.0.0. Problems are most noticeable on the Vista box because it has so much screen geography (the Windows 7 box is a laptop).
    Problems include:
Firefox may open the correct tabs into a properly sized and positioned window, without problem. (Not a problem, included for completeness since it does, occasionally, work without error).
Firefox open a single empty tab (about:blank, my Home page). (Listed as a problem because Firefox simply forgot the tab which was open.)
Firefox may claim it cannot open the correct tabs and pop up about:sessionrestore. Proceeding will open all tabs (usually only one or two for me). This gives the impression Firefox did not actually have a problem. But, then, often, the tab Firefox is having problems restoring is about:blank so I should hope there was no problem!
Firefox may open randomly selected recent browsing items, without other problems. This gives the impression that Firefox does not properly record recent history for about:sessionrestore. Checking History appears correct; Firefox simply reached back hours, or days, or even weeks, and restored a random session from long ago.
Any of the above may occur, but the window position and/or size will be randomly selected from another recent history item. This is most noticeable when the position is on the wrong monitor and can be annoying since Firefox simply "disappears" if (as it often is for me) that other monitor is disconnected or powered off.

If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.<br />
Also make sure that your anti-virus software doesn't mess with files in the Firefox profile folder.
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Multiple_profile_files_created
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • Firefox is not prompting to save password for specific user on specific site. How can I correct this?

I am using saved passwords feature. The site in question is a common webmail site. I have more than one account for this site. Usernames and passwords for each account were stored in Firefox 'Remember Passwords' feature. I unintentionally deleted one entry from the dropdown list that is displayed when I go to the site's login page. Now, when I log in to this account, Firefox will not prompt to save the password. If I display my saved passwords list, there are entries for the other accounts on this site, but none for the user account in question. The Saved Passwords 'Exceptions' list is empty. How can I get Firefox to re-prompt to save the password for this user on this site? (Note: When I speak of 'user', I am not referring to user account on the PC or a specific Firefox user profile.)

I am using Avast free version. Today I removed the LAN cable out of the 24 port switching hub and plugged directly into the router port. Now the program runs fast when checking for emails. Looks like all the emails are showing up. I do have other computers plugged into the switching hub with no problems. The hub is brand new. My thinking is the cable connector might be to blame. I will try re-crimping the wires. As for now, things are running good. I will keep investigating. Thanks

  • Help! Muse 2014.3 keeps crashing when I attempt to save my .muse file

I have the latest version of Muse [2014.3] Since the update the application repeatedly crashes at the least 'provocation'.
I'm building a multipage website for a client and brought the last file home [I'd been working on it at my office]. One or two of the image files needed updating, which I did. When I attempted to save the updated file I got [and keep getting] a fatal error.
The error message reads: "Dangling Ref or Ownership: BoxPageItem refers to unknown UID, BoxPageItem refers to unknown UID, BoxPageItem refers to unknown UID".
The application then hangs and I have to force quit. This is happening repeatedly and the dialogue tells me nothing about how to fix these errors [3 image errors perhaps, since the current crashes happen after updating images?]. I'm in a serious time crunch now, how can I recover my file to continue working on this project and what is causing the problem? Anyone help me?
Is this version of Muse really that unstable?
    Thanks,
    Charlie

    Hi Fabia,
I think I fixed it over the weekend. But interestingly, my problem was images inside compositions too.
I did something similar to you, where I didn't let Muse update when the file opens [which was causing the crashes]. Instead I located the images in the assets panel, opened them in Photoshop and resaved them. Then I imported and saved after each one. This seemed to work.
For me, the 'container' was apparently OK, I had the background fill set to none anyhow, so reasoned there might be a problem with one of the seven images [seven in my case, but which one, or maybe all?]. Since then, I've been able to add content and save normally, and this morning I've been able to let the client see the site progress, as promised.
Thanks for the reply and good luck with your project.

  • Recently when I attempt to save a Pages document it won't allow me the option.  The SAVE button is not bolded as an option to click on.  Any ideas how to fix this?

Recently I have not been able to save Pages notes/documents that I have created.  I have never had this problem before.  When I attempt to SAVE, the button isn't bolded so I don't have the option to save.  Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hi Peter,  I appreciate any ideas you might have.  I tried Apple support and I ended up at some 'unavailable' voicemail!?!!
    I am using Pages '09.
    It's not being auto saved.
I typically save to both pages and document files but I can't save anything.  When I go to close it and it asks me if I want to save, the save window comes up but the SAVE button isn't bolded as an option.  I have tried Command C but of course it brings me back to the same window.  This only began happening a few days ago. I use Pages a lot.
