Feedback on Invisible Shield & Question

after doing some major research I decided to go with the invisible shield to protect the screen of my iPod. It arrived promptly and while not much instructions came with the shield, it had a business card with a web-address for more information.
From there it was rather easy to get an understanding of what to do and how to do it. As many people mentioned, make sure the shield is really "wet" with the soapy water. It makes applying the shield and possitioning so much easier.
I first did the front and had to start three times. The key is to place it as perfect as possible and then slightly adjust it. Use a credit card and start from the middle to the edges and push the film onto the iPod and get the air off underneath. I ended up with one small bubble on the very bottom. No big deal to me.
Let it try for 24 hours!
The next day I did the back-side and that was more tricky because of the side pieces. But again, it too me maybe 10 minutes and it was on.
Now 48 hours after I started it's all dry and looks really nice. The feel is slightly different (pretty good grip). The screen looks as great as without any covering. But I feel so much better now and don't have to be afraid of getting scratches onto the screen.
I do have a question for all of you...
Any good recommondations on a battery pack for the 5G 60GB?

There are a number of threads here on the subject, here's a link to a current one:

Also if you Google iPod battery pack you'll get lots of hits on suppliers, here's one:

  • Invisible shield question

    hey guys,
I just applied the invisible shield w/ cutout to my nano.
I read that you should not use it for 24 hours after application. Do you really have to wait a full 24 hours? I was also wondering if you guys put the back on directly after the front or if you even put the back on?
    thanks,
    Baron

I only waited a couple hours for the shield to dry before loading songs into my new nano. :-D
I put the front side on, and then immediately applied the back piece.

  • Displex & invisible shield question

I just got my 30g black ipod last week. i didnt know that it would scratch so easily. i have two bigger scratches on the screen somehow that reflect and do the rainbow thing. so i ordered some displex off of ebay and then went to theinvisibleshield.com and ordered one of those too. my question is if the displex will remove scratches on the black part of the ipod too? i didnt know if it only removed them on the screen or everywhere. is apple taking these ipods back and replacing them since they scratch soooo easy? thanks!

  • The invisible shield question

I got mine in the mail today, but there are no instructions on how to put it on. Can anyone help me on this. I went to the website that it gave me, but it said page not available. If anyone has the instructions that would be great thanks.

I finished my Nano last night, and will do the iPod 5G this evening. The Nano came out looking fine, but I may have a problem with the click wheel. I have not turned it on yet, but the click wheel seems only to click on one side. The other 3 sides and the center button no longer make a distinct click. I am hoping that this will loosen up with use, and that when I turn it on, it will still function correctly. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
    Thanks -

  • Water under the screen while applying the invisible shield

I was applying the full body invisible shield and since it was difficult to apply the back(as suggested by every one) I did it one night switched the phone off all the time and the next morning it was fine and i loved it as it was looking good and on top of it it was protecting the back side of the phone.
The next night i applied the front side(supposed to be the easy side and child's play) and to my annoyance when I switched the phone back on in the morning there was water(? solution for applying the screen protector)under the screen. The screen looks awful
The ringer volume plays up now and switching on the phone is a bit cumbersome as it plays (sometimes in one go sometimes I have to use the home button and the power button together).
My phone is new ,bought on the 2nd of April 2010 and what do I do now? will apple warranty cover this?

Apple will not cover any moisture damage to the iPhone.
You can see if the moisture sensors are tripped or not. If they are then you are out of luck on warranty, no questions asked. Here is Apple's support document of inspecting the moisture sensors...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3302
If the sensors are not tripped, Apple would probably not cover the iPhone under warranty if there is visible signs of water (or liquid) behind the screen. If the button problems are not that bad, then you could switch the iPhone off and place in a bag of dry rice. It might help draw out some of liquid from the screen.
Personally I would stay away from anything that requires liquid to install. If done wrong it can kill the phone, which may be the case here. You can still make an appointment at an Apple store to look into an out of warranty replacement, which would get you a refurbished iPhone for a flat rate. The other option would be to check to see if there are any local third party repair centers. They may be cheaper than the out of warranty replacement, but at the same time could be more.

  • Replacing the nano battery with the invisible shield... How?

Does anyone know how the invisible shield will work when the battery needs to be replaced? I am looking for a permanent solution. While I know that I will be able to peel the Invisible Shield off for the battery replacement, the shield will become stretched and distorted. At this point I will not have a shield, and don't have to want to buy another one. The only solution I think would be possible is if there was a way to slice the shield with a razor (around the seam). Any ideas. Perhaps I shouldn't buy the Invisible shield, it might just be a short term solution.
    Anyone?

Actually, I think the more prudent question is whether or not the nano will even be accepted for battery replacement by Apple, or anyone else with a cover like that attached to it.
They could even charge extra money to deal with it, I can see either situation as being realistic.
If that does turn out to be the situation, then it would come down to a matter of costs as far as what you would need to do.
That being said, I personally think it is way too early to even worry about things like that since it is years off at a minimum, and it could very possibly never need to be done.

  • All talking of invisible shield !!! How easy or difficult to remove it ??

    Hi,
Gone to many posts and reviews related to invisible shield or any such type that protects the iPhone 3G. My question is; How good or bad it would be when we actually remove it after few months or may be after an year..?
Does it leave any sticky residue on the phone? Will the phone still have the shine on it the way it has right now..when its new ??

They are very easy to remove and it will not leave sticky residue on the iPhone. I used them on my iPods and a lot of my other electronic devices, but not on the iPhone. I prefer a leather flip case for more protection.

  • Hard Shell or Rubber Case on the top of the invisible shield?

    Hey Guys,
I have installed the invisible shield on my iPhone 3G S and let it to dry for around 3 days now .. I just wanted to install shell on the top of it just in case to protect it from any drop damages and so on. The question is : Is it safe to install a hard shell cover on the top of the invisible shield ? or is the hard shell cover is going to harm the invisible shield in the long term?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rashid

    Our MBP is an A1278  (uni-body) bought in NZ 28 June 2011. S/N: CO2FW8NVDH2G
It looks more like a bit of dark grey foam rubber with a smooth coating . Was attached to the retaining bar and/or plastic pull tab on top of the display data cable connector and about the same length across and tapering towards the cable that goes to the display. I may be thick but who, what and where are OWC?
What problems could an insularor cause? I had another reply from someone via ifixit who said he liked the idea of a bit of neoprene replacing the lost pad! What to do?
    Thanks for your time replying

  • READ THIS IF YOU BOUGHT INVISIBLE SHIELD WITH FREE SHIPPING!

I want to order an invisible shield with free shipping. about how long did it take to get to your location?

I don't think so cause i don't got a tracking number, a code or anything like that. I just got my order number from invisibleSHIELD but that's useless. I think i should start saying goodbye to my $30. Shipping by Miami Express i'll end spending more than what i paid for the invisibleSHIELD. Right now the only thing i can do is hope that someday it will arrive.

  • Something went wrong with the invisible shield application

After putting on the invisible shield, I was really happy because it turned out great. I waited about two to three hours then started using it.
To my horror, I think my nano might have shorted out because when I press play the song changes. sometimes the play/pause button doesnt even do anything when i press on it...when i touch the volume control, it increases and decreases erratically regardless of what im trying to do...sometimes it even seems like my nano has a mind of its own because when i simply move the nano, without touching the controls, the song changes or the volume changes.
this erratic behavior occurs sporadically. sometimes my nano works fine. then right when i think all is well, my nano becomes possessed. is it possible that my nano has shorted out? maybe i should let it dry?

    hey carl,
The process of applying the shield requires that I wet the film with soap and water. What do you suggest I do? My mistake was that I did not put on the hold button when I was applying the wet film and thus my ipod turned on while I was putting on the shield. i realize now that my nano should not have turned on for 24 hours. Should I just wait and see if the funky behavior goes away? or should i visit the nearest apple store?

  • Invisible shield left a sticky residue...how do i remove it

Hi everyone, I had a problem with my invisible shield so i called them up and they sent me a replacement. I just riped off the front of my invisible shield off of my 30gb ipod video i did it very slowly, but damm this thing was stuck down. Now it left a lot of sticky residue that i can not seem to remove. I have checked there website but found nothing regarding this. All they say is that it will remove with out leaving anything behind. Can someone give me some insight on how to remove this. I have tried spraying it with applicator solution and letting rubbing it, i have also tried rubbing it dry with my thumb in hopes to ball it up. None of this has been effective all it is doing is making it worse... please help

just did this yesterday on my ipod and mine also left a residue. I just used the applicator solution and those soft cleaning cloths that you use to clean glasses. It took a while but it eventually all came off, leaving a few new scratches. I had some old polish from an old ipod i had, and used that to mask the scratches. After I put the new sheild on, i could not see any more scratches. Just give it a little elbow greese.

  • Is this really a Shieldzone the 'Invisible Shield'?

    Hi
I ordered a Shieldzone skin for my nano, and as I'm in the uk I couldn't order from the USA site, so found a company through Amazon to buy it from. It arrived today, but on the packaging, rather than a Sheildzone logo, there's a CAPDASE logo. Overall the product looks like a cheap version. Have I been 'done' here? Not knowing what the proper product should look like, i just wanted to get some advice before 'kicking-off' at the company thats sent it.
    Any help greatly received.
    Cheers
    Wayne

Shieldzone is the company that makes the Invisible shield.
    http://www.shieldzone.com/
Looks like Capdase (http://www.capdase.com/) is a completely different company.
If you go here -> http://www.capdase.com/index.php?page=product&type=8&cat=5&brand=5
Quite a few language/speeling errors also.
Looks like a Japanese/Chinese company with no one really reviewing the language conversion on the website.

  • Do Apple Stores stock the Invisible Shield?

Im based in the uk, but a friend is heading over to San Fransico next week and im wondering if the apple stores stock the invisible shield or will i have to order from the invisible shield website?
    cheers guys

    Hi there,
AFAIK the only way to get them is via their website.
I'm from Germany and have been looking around the last days to find a German or at least European dealer, thinking it might arrive faster. Haven't had any luck though :/
So, I ordered mine 2 days ago via the website. I'm pretty curious how long it will take to arrive here.
    Cheers from Germany,
    Mara

  • How to avoid water damage when installing invisible shield

Just wondering what you have to do to avoid water damage when installing Zagg invisible shield? What precautions should I take so that I do not damage the iPhone when installing Zagg Invisible shield?
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.
    ...B

    Hi BGmail,
I would stay away from invisible shield by zagg or similar products. I tried it, waste of £15, could have got myself a dock stand for my phone for that ****!! The problem with IS(invisible shield) is that the screen protector has a rubber feel which makes it annoying when swiping your finger on it + it's not scratch proof at all!! Mine scratched 2 days after the installation so badly that I had to remove it. The back it's hard to apply, does not cover everything you'd like to, also a dust trap that could get between tha film and the phone causing it to scratch, some people reporting the film going yellow after a while(on white iPhones).
What I think of IS: A poor american product heavily/aggressive advertised!! Mine is off, using a hard clear plastic shell and a good screen protector, might look bulky but it's safe, only using the shell while at work, the iPhone is pretty tough, don't forget.
    Your choice... Good luck !!
