Feedback on Keynote

I've been trying Keynote during the 30-day trial and I think it's great... but, there are definitely some features missing from PowerPoint. Mostly, the ones I have discovered are in the graphs, such as the ability to angle labels on the axis and the ability to color individual bars different colors in graph. I'm sure I will find a few other small things. I still plan to continue using Keynote because overall, the ease of use is much better than PowerPoint.
Is there someplace I can send feedback in hopes the that these issues might be addressed in updates down the road? Thanks

Keynote animation for ios

Does anyone know of anyway to include a keynote animation in an iPad app.? The plan is to design a keynote animation and pass it over to our iOS iPad developers to include within the App build. Not sure if Keynote is the right way to go though. Anyone with ideas welcome.

Keynote Skin for iOS presentations

Hi Folks
There is one thing that bothers me every time that I build a keynote presentation and send it to my iPad. As you all may know, there are several desktop keynote features that gets lost on translation.
If I look harder, I will probably find some guideline that tells me what feature I should and should not use to import my presentations to iPad. However, I think it would be much easier if Apple had some kind of skin selector or presentation template that would turn the desktop keynote into a mobile presentation builder. This way, the user would only see the features and transitions that can be properly imported to mobile keynote.
This would be very helpful. This way I'd not spend a lot of time preparing a presentation just to find out that all the hard work is lost in translation and I have to customize it all over again for iPad presentation.
Would this make sense? Is there any current solution for this that I'm not aware of?

Placing multi-page PDF's

Maybe this question has already been posted but I could,t find it, so:
You can place a pdf in keynote, but is possible to select another page than the first one from a multi-page pdf.
That would really simplify the proces of putting together a presentation...

Yes, I can imagine that some interface that would allow you to set different pages WITHIN the app would be cool. To place an image that you can change without changing it's connected attributes,
1) Drag in an image
2) Mask the image
3) Do Format -> Advanced -> Define Media Placeholder
Then, you can copy/paste the action from one slide to another and replace the image as you need to without having to re-set all the animation.

Can the next version please allow for the line height to be zero in a text box? I can only go down to .01?

I want to create a flipping calendar. I had this brilliant idea of putting each date 01 02 03, etc in one text box, with a hard return in between, and then set the line height to zero. Then set the type to appear one paragraph at a time. It would eliminate 20 animation steps. It worked beautifully except that I can't get the line height to set to zero. It will only go to .01. Bleh!
So please, Can the next version allow for the line height to be zero in a text box?
Also, separate timelines would be nice instead of one long string so it would be easier to have more than one animation happening at once.
Just a thought.
PS - I also noticed it would be nice to have the option of having the first line in a text box dissappear or dissolve or flip out before the next one comes in, rather than just each building in on top of each other.

Can the thumbnail container (TC) in a light box be set to a fixed size and a single row/line?

I would like to set the thumbnail container to be one row and a fixed length. I also want the thumbnails to rotate/slide from left to right along the row. Currently, I can only set up thumbnail container to show all the thumbnails in rows. Can the container be set for a fixed length and a single row; and the user be allowed to scroll through thumbnails that exceed the length of the container?

Keynote animated GIFs

I recently purchased iwork 8. I have been using 6 and have used a lot of animated GIF files with a clear or transparent background. This has always worked well with 6 but with 8 the GIFs show up with a white box background. They place and play the way they always have but there is this white box behind. I have even tried opening an old presentation with 8 where the GIFs had a clear background and they show up with the box also. I have called Apple support but they don't have any answers. Please help

How do I set up a master slide in Keynote that provides placeholders for multiple images?

I came across an article in Mac|Life (Oct 2012 p90) titled "Create a Stylish Slideshow". The steps include creating a master slide that allows for you to add multiple photos. My master slide list for all themes allows for only one photo per slide. What am I missing and how can I set up a slide to which I can add multiple photos as they do in this article? Yes, I am using Keynote '09 v5.3.

Thanks for the info. Following the instructions which are covered in chap 12 of the User Manual, I found that I cannot use shapes as placeholders. The only success I experienced was if I used an actual photo image. With photos I could select Define as Media Placeholder, with Shapes, the only option was to Define as Text Placeholder. I will address this with a thorough review of chapter 12.
My initial problem was that I assumed that all themes in Keynote possessed the same set of Master slides. When I found this not to be the case I looked at each theme and identified 12 of the 44 provided different master slide options which provided placeholders for more than 1 photo (a few provided up to 6). For helpful information for others, here is a listing of those themes that provide master slides for more than 1 photo: Editorial, Kyoto, Brushed Canvas, Typeset, Craft, Stock Book, Blue Print, Vellum, Modern Portfolio, White Corners, Storyboard, Formal.

Since Yosemite upgrade, high pitch noise creating case vibration on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) (on watching the keynote online)

Great work on Yosemite, great new design as well.
Several problems since the Yosemite upgrade though :
    - When playing high pitch noise (watching the keynote for example), the speakers make the case around it vibrate. This was not happening under Mavericks and previous OSXs.
    - This page (post editing) does not allow the right click (works everywhere else as far as I'm aware).
    - when changing the volume, I have now the noise feedback when clicking on shift+volume up/down and no sound when clicking on volume up/down on my keyboard (was the inverse before).
    - The keyboard light was stuck in off, had to restart the computer.
More general problems (covering the last OSX since introduction of 10.9) :
    - lack of possibility of choosing for a 3x3 set of desktops as it was before (the new mission control only allow us to have a horizontal set of several desktops)
    - Notifications cannot be turned off automatically when being in full screen. (only options for auto turn off given are "display is sleeping" oO and when "mirroring on another display" -> meh, would have prefer when having an app in full screen)

Is there any way to view a keynote presentation and the presenter notes on the iPad at the same time?

Is there any way to view a keynote presentation and the presenter notes on the iPad at the same time? My professors at school have keynote presentations and i take notes during class with the presenter notes feature. I was wondering if there was any way i can view both of them on the same screen on my iPad while studying? This way I could see their slides along with the notes i take during class.

Printing notes in Keynote

Has anyone had the experience of printing notes in Keynote, only to find that the notes don't all fit on one page and are subsequently cut off? Is there anyway to adjust this so that when printing slides you can see all of your notes? Thanks in advance for the help.

the only solution i have found is to change font size to times 12 and be aware of how i lay things out, eg unnecessary returns etc, that take up real estate
it is a shortfall of the program. i sent them a feedback suggestion.....but no one listens to me

How can I assign a period (instead of B) in Keynote for blank screen so I can use a Logitech R800 presenter? An option in next version?

I have recently bought a Logitech R800 presenter which works very well with Keynote on a MacBook Pro. The start/stop presentation key does not work but that can be easily fixed by assigning F5 to "Start presentation" for Keynote in the keyboard system preferences. The remaining issue is that the blank screen button sends a period (".") which works as a prompt for a blank screen in PowerPoint, but in Keynote it causes the slideshow to end. Keynote uses the letter "B" for blank screen.
How can I assign a period (instead of B) in Keynote for blank screen? Some sort of work around would be very useful as I often use blank screen in my presentations and much prefer Keynote to PowerPoint.
Perhaps it will be an option in next version of Keynote?

As far as I know you can not change these keystrokes without changing the Program files. I am sure it is possible there, but I have no idea where to even start to tell you where to find it.
Your best bet it to go to the Keynote Menu>Provide Keynote Feedback and let Apple know you would like the option to change them.

Using Leopard with iCal, Apple Remote Desktop, and Quicktime/Keynote

Hi,
I need to create the following 'synergy' or workflow or 'automation' between these softwares:
- iCal
- Apple Remote Desktop
- Quicktime/Keynote
This is the application:
Remotely controlling (ARD) and scheduling (iCal) several quicktime/keynote files for display (ie. playing full screen video but controlling which file is playing from home).
How can I integrate all softwares?
Extended application:
I would also like to know if Leopard or any Apple software has the capability to read serial (RS-232) commands. For example, I would like to know and/or be advised if a screen/monitor is turned off (regardless if the computer is properly displaying the content or not).

It is if you are trying to stream it.
Users may want to stream their music into a third party program such as Ventrilo (as I do) to share their music (but not their libraries) with other listeners and speak on Ventrilo at the same time. You need two user profiles running Ventrilo at the same time, and two user profiles running iTunes.
When I roll over to User Profile #2 after setting up iTunes to stream into Vent in User Profile #1, iTunes stops playing. This is a recent change. It's annoying.
How do I change it?

Keynote has unexpected error when copying a table- how do I report this?

I looked for a place to send a report of this error in Keynote 09, but can't find the place to do so. Seems a simple operatoin like this should not cause a fatal error.

If the error is on your mac computer, launch Keynote, then click the word "keynote" beside the apple, and select to "provide Keynote feedback"

Keynote file can no longer be opened

Hi everybody,
I really need urgent help. I spent this weekend on working on a keynote presentation. My G5 Dual 1.8 suddenly freezed and the mouse cursor could no longer be moved forcing me to reboot the computer.
After this I tried to reopen my Keynote file… Unfortunately, this is unpossible and I get a Keynote message "Keynote can not open this file".
Urrrrghhh!
What's this? Has all my weekend work gone forever? Is there a chance to salvage the file?

I know this is an older thread but I am praying you guys have found some solutions since the last post on here. I have a file that started as a KN2 file and now saved as a KN 3 file. As I have upgraded versions of KN, I have saved them in the newest versions. That should not be so rare. This particular file worked just fine as I was working on it. Before I closed it, I copied it as a back-up onto two external hard disks plus I have enabled back-up mode in KN3. Today I find I could not open ANY of the original files nor back-ups. I've already rebuilt this file once from a previous working version. I'd hate to start from scratch with a brand-new file but is that what I am left with at this point? I am no XML genius but it seems the problem is in there (I opened up the package, moved the xml file to a new KN3 file, no dice). Any help would be tremendous. Thankfully, I still have time to start from scratch if need be.
