Feedback prob
i am currently using a sound blaster xfi card and when i use my microphone, i get terrible feedback. every word i say is automatically played through my computer's speakers. is there any way i can disable the playing of the microphone through my speakers without turning them off?
I've had that problem before. Right after i got my ipod, the loud speaker worked fine, and then out of nowhere it was finicky. I never went to the apple store to fix the problem, i just waited it out. For awhile it chose to work when it wanted to. The dust thing wasn't my issue. It just didn't work.
It works for the most part now. But sometimes the loud speaker turns on by itself, even with the earphones in it, and plays, when the ipod was off, and in the hold position to keep it that way.
If i would try to turn it off it would turn back on. The screen would say the song would be paused to, but it kept playing. It would take a few mintues to get it to turn off.
If i was you, i'd use the warranty to get it looked at if the problem persists.

I used to have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card and I recently switched to an Audigy 4 . (I got the SE version or OEM version - whatever you want to call it) With the old card I would open 2 instances of cool edit and have a file playing in one instance and record it in the other. I had my speaker output running through a compressor then back into the computer in the line in input so I was playing the wave file in one instance and record the line in on the other instance . This always worked fine. With the new card when I do this , if there is no sound coming into the input I get feedback . Once I start to play the wave file it records normally and when the wave ends the feedback starts again. I did notice that with the TB card in play properties I could mute the line in and in record properties I selected line in , but with the Audigy if I mute line in in the play properties it won't record. It's not really a big deal except I get this feedback until I open play properties and mute the line in when I'm done recording. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen or if my card is possibly faulty ? Thanks. I thought I would add I can play and record at the same time without a problem as long as the line in isn't involved . It's only sending the wave out of the computer and back into the line in and recording it from there that I get the feedback.
I beli've you mean this from Steampowerd.

Gosh, I don't know where to begin...
When I first downloaded the feedback version of FF about a month before it launched, lots of little details were malfunctioning. Minor, but annoying things like, my login bars were all prefilled with "enter name"...etc"here". I would have to double click it and erase it. FF stopped remembering my passwords....
I went back a version or two and things were just all screwed up. Downloaded FF4.0.1 today. When I click the icon to open FF, it just bounces endlessly and I have to Force quit.
So I erased everything. All FF files/dwnloads, moved it to trash, emptied... then downloaded again. Click the icon to open FF, it's just bouncing and I have to force quit.
PS: I am being forced to use chrome and I really miss FF.You should still have the older version of Firefox (the beta installs alongside the older version). Check under add/remove programs. If you do, just locate the .exe in program files under Mozilla, and create a shortcut.

New System Build feedback/advice, please...
Time to build a new WorkStation. My motivation for upgrading is that I have been using a mediocore laptop (i7m, 8gb, 250gb ) from my work as my home system for the last 2 years, I am starting to get more freelance coming in and need a good desktop.
I am not so sure about my processor, mother board and video card choice. I am more interested in app usability than absolute throughput and want to maximise my dollar investment.
Purchase date: this week
Budget: I'd like to stay close to $1000-1300, but can spend more for significant performance gains. As I do more research, my inclinations are trending higher.
System Usage: My primary uses will include photo editing with Lightroom and Photoshop, 3D graphics using 3D studio Max, Maya and Mud Box, HD video editing using Premiere and After Affects and Web Design. I will also use it as an HD media player and hifi audio is important. Maximizing cs6 performance in premiere & pShop is my main target. I am focused mainly on user experience while running these apps. If I need to encode hrs of video or crank out frames in max/maya, I can do it at work. I seldom run games.
Monitors: I'm running two Dell U2410's IPS, calibrated w\Color Munki, one portrait one lanscape.
Parts to Upgrade: Full system build
O/S : Win7 Ultimate, I might play with Ubuntu/Virtualization
Vendor: Newegg unless I can save big $$ else where. I like B&H.
It needs to be an Intel machine & I have chosen lga 2011 becuase I'll eventually go to 64gb. I'll do some modest overclocking.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your expertise.

I have picked the MSI motherboard due to its support for 128gb ram, superior audio and other high end features. The AS Rock for its rep for solid value/performance. Opinions?
Finally, I would like some advice on video cards. I prefer nVidia to ATI, but I'm not sure which chip to go for. The six fifties are cheaper, but the 660 ti provides more CUDA cores.Alex,
I sure wish you would quick picking fights with lots of knowledgeable people just trying to help people build good PCs for running Adobe Premiere. (I am stating that based on not just this thread, but rather the strong challenges you seem to bring to about half of the threads that you've chosen to participate in).
I was the original poster to suggest that Neal select a larger case. Next Harm agreed and cited 6 points which I would agree with regarding why a larger box is better for a video editing rig.
What are the typical goals for someone wanting a video editing PC? I would expect that most users want:
- robust, runs and never fails
- has incredible power; face it, video editing with AVCHD is one of the most taxing applications a PC can face today
- quiet; who wants to be doing creative work with any server room like wind noise
Now let me be specific where you are simply WRONG WRONG WRONG:
You stated: "Back pressure increases in larger spaces due to natural impedance of airflow (much like with electricity traveling over distance)"
Fact: Exactly the opposite; Back pressure decreases in larger spaces due to more room for the air to flow (much like thicker copper passes electricity with less resistance than a thin wire)
Your stated: "Open non-compartmentalized spaces are a recipe for hot spots - areas of turbulence with higher temperatures." and then cited a server room article talking about cooling air taking the path of least resistance -- going under the floor in a server room, instead of through rack mounted servers.
Fact: Lots of open space for large, slow moving fans to keep a video editing box cool is a great way to go
You stated: "Full towers - in themselves - are worse for cooling"
Fact: That is one crazy indefensible statement!
I seriously doubt that you fully comprehend the differences and importance of thermal conductivity, heat capacity, conduction, convection, and radiation for you to make the statements that you have so far and these are the staples for discussing how heat transfer takes place.
Note to other readers... There are lots of ways to cool components including cpus, hard drives, gpus and memory. I suspect that the noise levels brought by servers and some gamers would be totally offensive to the ambient noise level that you want in the room with you for video editing. Therefore we are left with just a few quiet alternatives: 1) lots of volume at low velocity (large cases, large fans, slow rpm), 2) liquid cooling, and 3) Cases with doors or baffles to keep the sound from a noisier solution from getting back to your ears.

Trying to decode this from USB Prober re. old joystick device
I'm troubleshooting a USB issue with an old joystick device. I can't find explanations to the various fields in USB Prober, i.e. what are the consequences of specific values/labels. I would like to verify that this device will not work with OS Mavericks or if possible find a workaround.
The device shows up on USB Prober, but it will not show up in "Joystick and Gamepad Tester" for Mac and will not work in FG v3.0 for Mac.
The device does work under a virtual WinXP on my iMac, but the application (FG v3.0) under the virtual machine is running very slow.
I suspect the "Not Captive" could be the problem, but I would appreciate help to simply understand what the various outputs from USB Prober means for this device and what you think causes it not to work and of course if there is any way in your opnion to make it work.

The Wingman Force and Formula Force are not USB HID products
They do not use the common drivers that HID products can
They are serial products that can use a special USB adapter and communicate to the PC in very nonstandard ways
Their feedback effects HAVE to be prewritten to the memory of the device and executed by calling to the memory space of the effect. Every USB Force Feecback device we made after these two devices can accept on-the-fly effects sent to them from the comptuer and do not require preloading to the hardware.
The memory of the device was quite good at the time of the build, but now and with what game developers are doing, it's very limited
To extend the life of the product, we implemented ever-more complex tricks to get the device to transparently work as long as possible, but modern game effects continued to put more demand on the hardware.
With 64-bit addressing, our tricks were completely broken. Considering the limitations of the hardware on such a fundamental level, we did not continue development. To unify the codebase, all support was taken out for both 5.x builds, and if you want to continue using this product, use LGS 4.6 on a Windows x86 machine.
Our LGS 4.6 code is not prepared for public release and I do not think we will ever release it openly.

This PodSalvage software will only work with Macs running OS X. See the PodSalvage page at SubRosaSoft.com: http://www.subrosasoft.com/MacSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=2

Late 2013 15 MBP Win 7 Bootcamp, user feedback?
Hey.
Im considering getting a new 15 Macbook Pro, and need some serious feedback on Bootcamp. I currently have a mid 2010 MBP i5, 2.53 ghz 4 gb ram, running Win 7 64 bit, and have been experiencing alot of overheating and graphics kernel problems (screen blacks out for a short amount of time when im browsing). Im using both the OSX and Win 7 platform for music making, running some DAW´s alot of Vst´s. What im worried about is how bootcamp runs on the new machines? My external soundcard is firewire, does firewire to thunderbolt work properly under bootcamp? Is overheating in bootcamp still a major problem (been reading alot of threads with users having the same probs as me)? Any feedback highly appreciated:-)
ThanksYour original configuration is an HDD. Have you considered replacing it with an SSD. It helps quite a bit.
The current 2013 (and now the 2014) MBPs are excellent machines, and can run Bootcamp via native EFI (Win 8/8.1 - Win7 has some driver challenges), rather than the CSM-BIOS layer and you will get very good performance. I would recommend a 16GB MBP. If you do a lot of external display work, dual GPUs may work better for you.
I use the TB-to-FW for accessing external disks, not sound cards, but the storage works fine. This machine can support 8GB RAM, which may also be worth considering. -
First serious prob w/Mac Pro -- errors galore
New to mac, got this a few months ago, using Final Cut Pro a fair amount, which was my impetus for getting it.
Earlier this week I went to http://www.brother-usa.com/ptouch/ and downloaded the mac version of the p-touch printer program, so I can run it (runs fine from my PCs). I installed, didn't seem to work, uninstalled.
Then the fun began. Suddenly other programs wouldn't open...dreamweaver, adobe acrobat, compressor in final cut pro, then final cut pro.
So I reinstalled these programs, not all worked, so I did my best to delete the original version, then reinstalled again, and each one seems to be working okay now, except for adobe having some probs (but after effects and photoshop cs2 never had problems and I haven't had to reinstall).
Anyhow, I feel like things are still off and not sure how to check, if there's a program I should be running. For example, when I look at
/user/library/preferences/
I see files like "DivX Decoder 6.0 Preferences" and "Roxio Toast Prefs" which under "kind" say they are "Microsoft Entourage preferences" -- and quite a number of the files in this library are listed as "Microsoft Entourage preferences" which I know is not right. I do have a microsoft office package installed, which all seems to run fine at the moment (though I can no longer print PDF files, which used to be an option...).
So is there some virus in here? Or something that has changed the "kind" for certain files so that they stop being correctly recognized and don't work right?
Would appreciate any advice or insight since, as I said, I'm a total newbie to mac and hardly know where to begin understanding my prob. Thanks.Mac OS X - it is essential when installing software to launch Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.
Command + I when you click on an item, bring up the "Open With..." and change it to the correct default.
Sounds like might need to update the Launch Services database or something.
I use Applejack and use to use Tiger Cache Cleaner to keep mac healthy, along with use of Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, and some bootable backups (no limit on how many drives can have a boot volume).

Besides the virtual machine where there is a WinXP driver there's also a driver for it in Linux. I do not know if the open source of Linux can be used for anything in this respect. Do you know anything about that? -
Health probe - not running and trying to see why?
Hi,
Im trying to fix our exchange server 2013 (patched upto and including CU8)
when I run the following command
get-healthreport -server servername | where {$_.alertvalue -ne “healthy”} | ft -auto
Server State

when i run the next command to get a list of the monitors that are unhealthy
$test = get-healthreport -server servername | where {$_.alertvalue -ne “healthy”}
foreach ($line in $test) {$line.entries | where {$_.alertvalue -ne “healthy”} | ft -auto}
it shows me that the following monitor is unhealthy in the outlook healthset
Server State Name TargetResource HealthSetName AlertValue ServerComponent
xx NotApplicable OutlookRpcCtpMonitor Outlook Unhealthy None
From this I found that the probe is OutlookRpcCtpMonitor, so I then tried to invoke the probe
invoke-monitoringprobe -identity Outlook\OutlookRpcCtpProbe -server xx
that returns the following error..

I have restarted the server, recycled the MSExchangeSyncAppPool. Not sure what else to try so that can fix the unhealthy set within exchange.
Kind regards
SimonHi,
According to your post, I understand that OutlookRpcCtpMonitor is unhealthy and run “Invoke-MonitoringProbe” failed.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Please try to run Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer to test Outlook connectivity:
https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
Also, try to run Test-OutlookConnectivity with OutlookRpcCTPProbe to test a logon from Client Access server for the mailbox.

CSM health probe for server farm with multiple vservers
Is there a way to specify the vserver port that a health probe monitors when multiple vservers are configured for the same serverfarm? Let's say I have a serverfarm named farm1. farm1 services two ports www and https so two vservers vserver_www and vserver_https are configured and bound to farm1. I would like to enable http health probe on farm1 with the intention of only monitoring vserver_www http port but, instead, the health probe monitors both www and https and since a http probe on https fails it takes farm1 reals and both vservers vserver_www and vserver_https out-of-service. Is there a way to configure a health probe to monitor a specific port? Or, should I create two duplicate serverfarms farm1 bound to vserver_www and farm2 bound to vserver_https and only enable http health probe on farm1? Any other ideas welcomed.
Appreciate the feedback. I also found what I was looking for in configuration examples. To summarize I've borrowed the comment from the URL below:
# The port for the probe is inherited from the vservers.
# The port is necessary in this case, since the same farm
# is serving a vserver on port 80 and one on port 23.
# If the "port 80" parameter is removed, the HTTP probe

Hello Everyone!,
I am facing very weird problem with my vi. The TDMS write in my "Processing" case/state records the processed data for each channel of every run. However, instead have different set of data for every run, I get same set of data in for all rows. It basically just duplicating first set of data in every row for each run. And the weird thing is that, if I use the probe tool on the wires going in to the tdms write in same case, it records the actual data in respective rows. so with probe tool, it looks like right data doing in and records the correct data, without it, it just duplicates the first row. can anyone please figure out what it going on with it?
I have attached the VI. While at it, please feel free to provide feedback/suggestions on me design of vi, so that I can work on making it better.
I appreciate all the help in advance!
-Nilesh
Kudos are (always) welcome for the good post. :-)

Glucose Sensor Developmental VI.zip 77 KBI figured it out. In processing case, I was reading from the same group eaverytime. so the all the processign data was same. All I had to do was to get the current group value from the property node and wire it to tdms read function.
Kudos are (always) welcome for the good post. :-) -
Hey all, within 5 days of purchasing my X6 I had the following problem...when typing a text msg, the back arrow key or delete key would get "stuck down" and therefore either scroll the cursor backwards thru the msg continuously, and wouldn't stop unless the phone was shaken vigourously, or would simply delete the entire msg I had just typed!!! The best way I can think to describe it is if it was an actual keypad, the key got literally got stuck down. Previously had a Nokia N95 which I loved but was very disappointed with the X6. Touchscreen keypad seemed to have a huge difference in sensitivity at different times, and some basic things I found useful on the N95 were not available on the X6. For eg, when typing txt msg using predictive typing, and you are choosing between the diff words a particular combination of keys made up, the N95 has a 'previous' AND 'next' ability so if you accidently go past the word you wanted, you select previous. Seems fairly basic and I didnt realise how much I used it until I didn't have it anymore!!
Anyway, due to a huge stuff up by Allphones whereby they had my X6 for 4 weeks and never actually sent it off to Nokia for me, they are saying I can get a brand new X6 or even a diff handset if I want so I am considering the N97 mini instead of the X6. I txt a lot and am very quick at txting with predicitve typing of the numerical keypad if that makes sense, so hesitant about the qwerty keyboard on the N97mini. Have read many posts on the X6, both good and bad, haven't seen anyone that had same prob as mine, and I am undecided....any advice from all you Nokia phone experts?? If I go with X6 again, I will get a brand new one, from the 'second batch' (so Allphones says) delivered to their head office. I would appreciate any feedback to aid in my decision...to be honest, am very over the whole thing, loved my Nokia N95, just wanted to update to a newer Nokia and it has turned into a huge drama.i have the same problem with my battery.
along with many other problems - typing issues and a very noticable lag when opening apps and especially when receiving texts. any solutions?
/t5/Nseries-Devices-and-S60/Typing-on-X6/m-p/689523#M209605 this is the other discussion i am having regarding typing issues, your advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks. -
Hi,
I'm running a motion control system with the MID7602, PCI7352 and a stepper motor plus encoder. The problem I have is the folowing:
With the stepper I drive a linear, leadscrew alike, mechanism to bend some probes. Those probes will provide in return a voltage to tell me how far they are being bend. The question is, how could I implement a function with the ADC as primary feedback to tell the motor to stop motion at a given voltage-level? Furthermore is there a chance of suppling a vi with similar functions, so i could understand the mechanism better?
Thanks!
Message Edited by Endeavour-1770 on 03-19-2008 08:26 AMHi!
Yes, I do use LabView 8.5 with the NI-Motion 8.5 Module and I'm aware of the ADC read function, but maybe I didn't make my problem very clear. Looking for some examples within the LabView help ended up in no examples as with the Read ADC being integrated in the primary feedback. In the NI-Motion manual were a few examples, but there the read voltage from the ADC is just feedback as a position in a way that wont work for my setup.
The thing i want to do is to move a pushing rod towards a sample...the sample will be bend a return a voltage "somehow" (not predictble) proportional to the bending...i already read back that voltage with the Read ADC function, so that is no problem...what i want to do then or next, and that is with what i'm struggeling, is...to tell the motor to move the pushing rod towards the sample until i reach, due to bending, a certain voltage value (predefined) like a trigger and then stop the motor...similarly as i'd do by telling the motor via the Move to Postion VI to move into a certain position and reading back the value of the position with an encoder all the ime until the final position is reached. As far as i understood i could feed that ADC value into the Move to Position VI and the value of the ADC will be interpreted into a position as if there was an encoder, but that's not what i want to do...I want to know how to tell the motor to move until it reaches a defind voltage value? -
My realistic A/V setup... any feedback?
Hello
I've been asked by my colleages to create a shopping list for A/V gear - I've made a "my ideal" list which nears £15K! Not that this is posible, but I wanted to see what could be achieved, ideally.
So, my realistic list is:
Nikon D3200 WITH Nikon AF-S 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 G ED VR Lens
ZOOM H4N
Plural Eyes Sotware (WITH PR CC P-EYES extension, possibly)
ADOBE CC (naturally!)
Sennheiser K6/ME66 Microphone & Head
Boom Pole & blimp
X2 LED battery powered key fills
I can see from http://www.atomos.com/discovery-what-cameras/ that the D3200 doesn't support 'Embedded Stop/Start Trigger --- Embedded Timecode'.
We already use a D3200, and the visual is good, great - no probs - the audio - well DSLRs are not Pro Cams - even with a ME-1, the audio is not pro-quality.
My concern is that the job of A/V sync in post will be a nightmare...
So, my question:
Does anyone think that the above is the right solution for obtaining pro-quality audio using the D3200?
Any feedback much appreciated.
Regards
DylanThanks for your reply.
At the moment, the camera / mic setup is still undecided, but yes - I'm aware of those you recommend. Blimp - as in wind shield... not RODE particualry... But, yes, I will check. Thanks.
My ideal list is the Canon EOS 5D MIII - certaintly, which might be the future choice.
Regarding XLR - H4N as in 'double system' setup. Sync A/V in post. XLR (shielded and balanced o/p in all cases).
On LED - yes, piece to camera interview style will be the norm... I'll look into the proconsumer + market.
I've heard the clapper board recommendation quite a few times in the last 24 hours, will add to list.
These mikes have XLR connections your Nikon does not, how are you coning to connect them?
This is the main determing factor - quality audio - the H4N seems feasible = though I've contacted Red Giant (Plural Eyes) and a dealer for H4N to asking for their feedback.
If H4N & P-EYES will work with D3200, then seems about realistically ideal. What I mean is: sync in post - seems obvious that H4N, P-EYES for audio, and D3200 for visual will work - but, you know, different systems behave differently in different setups. A/V sync is my main concern. The quality of D3200 + H4N + SAID MICS seems acceptable. -
First feedback after 1 day with BPM11gR1
This is my feedback after one day of work with the BPM11gR1 (installation from scratch, no reuse of beta2 environments):
The goal of the first test was short:
-> Making a small process in BPM Composer with 1 initiator task and 1 human task to validate without gateway, with the default role.
-> Publish it in MDS repository
-> Import it in JDeveloper and add 2 string data object ("name" and "lastOutcome")
-> auto-generate human task
-> deploy the process and screens (and mapping role and users)
-> make one execution from start to end (only 2 steps) without any error.
My observations during this quick test:
- The "call" activities are activated in BPM Composer but not in JDeveloper
- The name of activities and all graphical elements are not transfer from BPM Composer to JDeveloper (and from JDeveloper to BPM Composer)
- During the auto-generation of the second human task, JDeveloper has frozen and needed to be killed by the Windows task manager. The project folder had to be cleaned manually.
- The import from MDS in JDeveloper generate a double project windows folder (like
..\myWork\<myApplicationName>\<myProjectName>\<myProjectName>\...)
- On first deployment (process + the 2 screens), JDeveloper ask to restart the server to finish the deployment of the 2 screens.
- After writing the mail to ask the restart and doing 1 short work, I came back to JDeveloper and it was another time frozen (taking 30%-40% of CPU). I did not killed it immediately to see if it is just temporary frozen. I had waiting a meeting delay (more than 1 hour) without any modification on Jdeveloper => Another Windows kill.
- After the reboot of the server, the initiator task works. I had the screen auto generated and I was able to submit the first step. But the second screen (just to approve or refuse) didn't work. I got an internal server error 500 (null pointer exception).
- I had made several deployments of the 2 screens (the 2 screens are in the same .ear file and always deployed in same time). Sometimes the second screen worked but not the first, another time it was the first but not the second or both didn't work. I had never managed to have both screens working in the same time if I deploy them in the same deployment. To have both working screen, I needed to deploy them separately.
- If we deploy the process and screens with the option "Append composite revision to name": the first time we got on ear profile name
"BC-UI-BPMComposer_rev_c1v1.0", the second time "BC-UI-BPMComposer_rev_c1v1.0_rev_c1v1.0", etc...
- I got another time the JDeveloper freeze. It's seems to append when I do nothing with it during a "long" delay.
During this test a colleague had tried to design our prototype process (one main process with 2 possible starts (a human or a web service) with 4 sub-processes linked with service activities). He got same errors but also others:
- One unwanted log-off during the design of BPM Composer
- JDeveloper crash during Auto-generation of ADF Screens.
- In the beginning, he had save the project on a network drive but JDeveloper was too slow. So he made a "make clean" and copy the project folder to a local hard drive. On the first deployment, JDeveloper had an error because it couldn't create the file: ..\myWork\<myApplicationName>\<myProjectName>\<myProjectName>\classes\scac_out.xml. He had to create manually the folder "classes" and after JDeveloper can start the deployment.
- After the deployment, he had mapped all roles to users. But he couldn't manage to have the link in the application panel to start manually the process with the initiator task. He tested also by removing the web service start (and having just one human start).
- He tried to create a small process, with just one initiator task reusing the initiator human task of the previous process but he got null pointer exception on delpoyment (even he put data object in process with mapping, added other human task)...Hi Heidi,
The current used version was downloaded on OTN the 28th of April. SOA and BPM extension were imported by "check for update...".
You can find bellow the a part of the about of JDeveloper :
