Feedback sound at Satellite L450D

Just got my daughter a Satellite L450D-113.
She has suddenly experienced what I would describe as a nasty feedback sound if she turns the volume up at all while listening to any audio playback. I think it may have something to do with the mic, as it sounds as if it is switching on as the volume is turned up. Hopefully its a case of adjusting settings, so if anyone can help it would be great if you keep your answer as simple as possible.

I bought a Satellite L450D for my daughter for Xmas.
It has the same problem.
A kind of high pitched warbling noise through the headphone jack. Sounds the same with headphones, external laptop speakers, or plugged into the line-in on the hifi.
But it only happens when I'm using the AC adapter for power.
If I disconnect the AC and run on battery, then sound is perfect.
I tried a 19v power supply from an older laptop and problem goes away, sound quality is great.
It looks like the Toshiba power supply is the problem.
My Toshiba power supply has a 3-pin 3-leaf-clover shape power cord connector. The other 19v power supply I tried uses 2-pin figure-8 power cord type. Not sure if the 3-pin versus 2-pin power type is significant, or whether the whole Toshiba power adapter is the problem.
I'm going to try Toshiba tech-support and see what they say. If all else fails, I'll take it back to where I bought it and see if they'll replace it. Trouble is, I've done some digging about the internet and seems a lot of people are reporting similar problems so just exchanging it for a new one might not make any difference.

Just phoned Toshiba UK tech support (01932 841600) if you don't want to use the 0844 number. Navigate thru the "choose option..." menus until you get to Tech Support for Laptops option.
If you ring them, you need to know the serial number of your laptop from the sticker on the bottom - its the first thing they ask before they will talk to you.
They're going to send me out a replacement power supply, see if it will fix the problem.
If this is your problem too, make sure you have the Toshiba power adapter handy as they ask you for the part-number, output amps, etc etc details. (Don't know why this is - they know what Laptop you've got from the serial number you gave them so they should already know what power adapter it uses!)
The guy I spoke to didn't have any info regarding the 3-pin versus 2-pin power cord question.
I'll update here whether it fixes the problem or not when I receive the new power adapter.

Satellite L450D wont power up

Hi guys
Right here go's , I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D which would not boot up in fact nothing except the green power on light, so I decided to strip it down to have a look after removing the keyboard & power switch ribbon cable & everything else I just thought I would reconnect the power cable without screwing anything back together & lo & behold the fan started to spin but only for 5 secs, the cdrom made the normal sounds I got another green light showing & the battery light came on.
But NO DISPLY never even tried to boot from the hard drive? Anyway I screwed it all back together & tried to power it up but I was back to square one nothing except again the first green light.
So I stripped it down again & attached power ribbon & I was back to lights , cd rom, fan.
I have left it at that just wondered if anyone can tell me what the fault is plz?

Have you tried an external monitor? Probably only the internal monitor is defective and so you dont see picture. Its worth a try.
Also disconnect the AC/DC adapter and remove the battery. Then wait at least for one hour and then connect both devices again. Try to start your notebook now and check what happens.
In worst case you need professional help from an authorized service provider because it looks like a hardware malfunction. Is your notebook under warranty? In such case the repair would be for free. :)

Im asking because you said you deleted the microphone driver.
First of all such driver does not exists.
The sound driver controls the microphone.
But you said that sound is still working so Im confused a little bit.

Satellite L450D-13X - Black Screen of Death/Blue Screen of Death

Hello everyone.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L450D-13X computer for the kids, and for the price it's a good laptop. Have had no issues with it until two weeks ago when the screen froze for the boys whilst playing a game and downloading a program from the net. Had to do a force shutdown and since then we have a BSoD on every boot-up. This is what we have tried:
On 'Starting Windows' we are given an option of either 'Launch Startup Repair' which ends up as BSoD or 'Start Windows Normally' which reverts back to the 'Starting Windows' option list.
Any attempt to enter 'Safe Mode' results in BSoD.
Attempting to boot an ISO of the Windows Recovery Disk on a USB key (we did highlight it and promote it to the top) results in BSoD. Borrowing a proper Window 7 installation DVD and highlighting this as an option results in BSoD.
In fact, the only option we used that threw up something different was using advanced boot options. On one of these options we got the Blue Screen of Death with the following information:
Unmountable_Boot_Volume
Disable Bios Memory Options such as caching/shadowing
Tech info
Stop: 0x000000ED (0xFFFFFA80023C2CDO 0xFFFFFFFFC0000185 0x0000000000000000 0x0000000000000000)
I don't mind erasing the hard drive and starting again, there's nothing on it that's critical. I'd very, very much appreciate a steer on this. Checked the web for stuff and nothing seems to assist in any other options. I am not particularly tech literate but can follow instructions.

In my opinion system has a problem to start, so there are two most possible ways waht failed. Firstly as "Akuma" and "Keany" says HDD so check it. Second thing is RAM module. Check it using Memtest 86+ or if you have a possibility replace it for a while by other module. HDD is more possible, but RAM module is easier and faster to check (that's my opinion)

How to get pics and videos from mobile phone to Satellite L450D-128

I have a Satellite/Satellite L450D series/Satellite L450D-128 and i am a bit thick, i also have a samsung 5600 which i want to get pics/vids from - tried to connect my phonebut it couldnt connect the driver and seemed to be having lots of problems.
I thought maybe i could bluetooth from my phone to my lap top but dont think it has blue tooth?? Does it?? and if not can it??

Is it necessary to use Bluetooth connection?
For my mobile phone I bought an external card reader. So I can copy the files from mobile phone to computer and backwards.
It costs maybe 10 Euro and therefore no additional driver is necessary! :)

Satellite L450D: Diskpart has encountered an error

Hi everyone
I'm not the best with computers but I've been trying to use a Windows 7 product recovery DVD to repair my little brother's laptop (It's his disc, not mine, just to avoid further confusion).
The installation was going fine but then this is what came up:
"Diskpart has encountered an error: The parameter is incorrect.
See the system Event Log for more information.
Copy Recovery Base Files
The system cannot find the drive specified.
HTMPREP....
The system cannot find the drive specified.
Invalid drive specification
ERROR: Copying of Recovery Base files failed!
Press any key to continue..."
When I press a key the command prompt window disapears!
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Thank you in advance.

The Satellite L450D was not supplied with Recovery disk because there was an HDD recovery partition which allows you to recover the notebook from HDD and the notebook came also with an preinstalled tool which would allows you to create an own recovery disk.
Im not sure if the HP disk containing Win Vista is the same like a clean Microsoft Vista disk but maybe its different and this is the reason why this error appears
Or there is something wrong with the partitions on the HDD.
This might be possible too
I would recommend using the Toshiba Recovery disk in order to recover the unit

Satellite L450D-11H - WLan not working when running on battery

Hi everyone,
I have a Satellite L450D-11H laptop running Windows 7 OS.
When my laptop is plugged into the mains my wireless connection works fine.
But when I unplug it and just run it using the battery, my wireless connection stops working.
I have looked at the power settings and changed the battery option to "Maximum performance when wireless"
But I still have the same problem. Could this be a driver issue?
Any ideas?

Satellite L450D-113 BBC iPlayer frame drop

I have had my satellite L450D-113 since Xmas. I recently tried to play a downloaded video through the BBC's iPlayer software.
When viewing in full screen, the picture jerks as though it is skipping frames. Am I asking too much of the machine to play at full speed in full screen.
I am running Win7 32bit with 3GB of RAM. Screen resolution set at 1366x768 32bit. I find it hard to believe that this machine can't manage the above. Even worse trying to play an HD video.

Furthermore, the frame drops occur when playing DVDs (using the Toshiba player) and the audio breaks up when playing CD. Task Manager shows that the CPU is fully occupied (100% usage) when playing audio and/or video. My original post tells that I have tried many strategies to improve performance, but nothing has worked.
From the absence of similar observations of this kind of behavior on the Satellite forum, I guess this is not a common problem with this model of laptop so it is clear to me there must a problem with this one. I should emphasize that the machine worked well for the first couple of months.
Any advice?

Satellite L450D - Need Wireless driver for Linux system

I have a satellite L450D, with a Realtek RTL8191SE wireless card (windows 7). I use Linux for college and i can't get on the internet when i use linux cause the oporating system dose not find my wireless card.
When i check from command line for wireless cards, it shows that there are non.
I know other people that had this problem and basically i need a driver for it.
Can any one let me know what driver i need or where to get it? I would really appriciate this as i need to use Linux for college.

I googled a little bit and found some tips in the internet.
It seems that there is no Linux driver for Realtek WLan card rtl8191se and rtl8192se.
Bu someone has managed the WLan installation by installing ndiswrapper from synaptic in Ubuntu + GUI. He downloaded the W2K driver net8192se.sys and net8192se.inf.
The W2k driver work but the combination driver W2Kxp or the xp or vista doesnt work.
After that you can use WPA because WEP encryption is not supported

How you would be able to reset BIOS? This is not possible like on desktop PC!
BIOS can be rested only by ASP technician too so please dont mix different notebooks with an common desktop PC.

Satellite L450D-11V - Recovery partition update

On my Satellite L450D-11V with Windows 7 Premium 64bit, Tempro today indicated there was an important update that replaces the recovery partition with a new one, to get over the problem of an error message on laptops with more than 4GB RAM. Even though I only have 3GB, it says the update is for everyone as you may upgrade to over 4GB in future.
That's all very well, so I downloaded it and tried to run the unpacked .exe, but half way through installation, it stops and tells me the update is only for 64bit versions of Windows 7....which mine is. I've only had it five days, it came with Windows 7 Prem 64bit, and I've definitely not used the 32bit downgrade DVD...and it clearly states "64bit operating system" in My Computer.

Which update do you mean exactly? Can you post some informations please like file name, etc.?
Normally there is no recovery partition. There is only a folder called HDDrecovery on the second partition where you can reinstall Windows from this folder. On Vista and Windows 7 there is a hidden partition but its the Windows recovery environment and has nothing to do with Toshiba.
Furthermore I dont use TEMPRO because install the updates manually if its necessary.

Netbook nb200 annoying feedback sound

My netbook has an awful feedback sound sometimes.
At times it sounds off if I touch the unit while it is booting up.
at other times, if the audio level is set to high and I am on a website with sound, I hear the audio, but I also hear this feedback noise.
It appears to emanate from the right corner of the keyboard, below which (on the bottom of the unit) exists a circular ring of holes from which the speakers emit sound.
Anybody else have this problem? Is it a driver issue with Realtek??

I think I have solved the feedback noise problem on the Toshiba Netbook. The feedback seems to come from the built in microphone near the camera. If you plug in an unconnected plug in the mic slot on the side of the computer it disables the built in mic and the feedback seems to go away. To be safe I have used a spare plug in both the mic and earphone slots on the side of the computer.
I’m not sure this solves the problem; I have only powered on and off the computer about 20 times without any feedback. Now maybe I won't get shot at the airport. Hope it works for you. Let me know. [email protected]

Can I use motherboard from L455D in my faulty L450D-128?

The K part number details are not known to me but I guess every notebook/computer manufacturer use own internal part numbers and I guess this is such internal part number.
Just for note: if you want to get details about compatible notebook parts, I recommend you to call an authorized service provider in your country.
The service guys should be able to provide such compatible part.

IPhone 4s Feedback Sound level issues

The normal lock and key pad feedback sound effect levels go from normal to full volume randomly on my phone. I have ringer volume set for less than half. Very odd. Any suggestions?

I have been experiencing the same issues on the iPhone 4S since I got it up and running. It seems that when unlocking the phone from its sleep state, more times than not, the unlocking sound and relocking sounds are turned up to maximum volume for maybe 10 seconds or so before everything adjusts to the normal volume setting. It isn't just limited to the locking and unlocking sound, that's just the first place you notice it. If I press and hold the home button to bring up Siri, she will speak at maxium volume somtemes before settling down to the actual volume setting. Or, if I get a phone call, it will sometimes ring at full volume which can be annoyingly loud. Again, it usually takes the phone a good 10 seconds or so before the volume level adjusts to what it is set at. Put the phone to sleep and the process usually starts over the next time you wake it. Very annoying.
