Ok... I'm an old guy trying to figure out this Dinc thing. I don't think I'm an idiot. But HOW DO YOU CLOSE AN APP????
I have AppKiller which can kill off an app, but when I open the Internet window, I can't find a Quit option in the menu. I thought that was insane, then I noticed none of my apps have a quit. This can't be right so I must have missed something in the 300+ pages of my manual?

To follow is from one of the articles. i've inserted my response/experience after each statement. So… the TL;DNR Version:

Most services (while possibly running in the background) use very little memory when not actively doing something. "very little" sure....but they are still using memory!
A content provider is only doing something when there is a notification for it to give. Otherwise it uses very little memory. again...still using memory.
Killing a process when it isn’t ready only causes it to have to reload itself and start from scratch when it’s needed again. if you want the app to stay open, just put it on the "ignore list" of your app killer.
Because a task is likely running in the background for a reason, killing it will only cause it to re-spawn as soon as the activity that was using it looks for it again. And it will just have to start over again. so what? if it'll restart...and if it's a vital app to you then use the "ignore list." (clock, calendar, etc)
Killing certain processes can have undesirable side effects. Not receiving text messages, alarms not going off, and force closes just to name a few. see above. if you use third party apps for email, mms, sms, etc....you just have to "ignore" those apps. but the killer DOES not kill the stock messaging or email programs.
The only true way to prevent something from running at all on your phone would be to uninstall the .apk. true...but you can at least kill the dozen apps running with one touch (if you use the widget instead of the app)
Most applications will exit themselves if you get out of it by hitting “back” until it closes rather than hitting the “home” button. But even with hitting home, Android will eventually kill it once it’s been in the background for a while. OR...you can kill it immediately with an app killer!
here's the deal.....if you learn how to use it properly an app killer is valuable. not necessary, but convenient. if you know how to use the ignore list and include what you need to, then i have yet to see how it can cause any harm. i'm no expert, but have had the inc with app killer for 4 months and love it!!! anyone can correct me if any of my input is inaccurate.

Just wondering if anyone shares how I feel. I bought a G5 Imac 2.1 Ghz a little over a month ago, I am doing some video editing etc.....
Now with this new one out so soon, I feel like an idiot buying the other one (20' inch at $1700).... I could really use the extra speed (if it's true that it's twice as fast.)
I wish they would have offered some type of an upgrade offer for people who bought their Imacs just recently..

I was planing to wait until the intel macs came out to buy a new computer (My first Mac btw).... but when the G5 iMacs with iSight came out, i couldn't resist... and convinced myself that i would be waiting a long while till the intel macs were released... so i got one...

sure, the new ones might have a few problems, but i can handle that, i would rather that, than this G5 that is going to age FAR quicker than the new Intel ones... and my iMac is only ONE MONTH old... and it is out of date already!!

I'm syncing music to my iPhone. My playlist has 15.96 Gig but when I go to sync it, the iPhone says 18.1 Gig of audio. Any ideas as to why (I realize I'm probably going to feel like an idiot when I get an answer)?

Do you have any voice memos that were created on your iPhone?
Did you include music videos?
If the iPhone isn't behaving like other iPhones, try restarting or restoring it.

Preloader problem - feel like an idiot

I feel like a total idiot. I can't seem to get my
preloader to work. Here's my code. What am I doing wrong? The
problem is that myApp.swf loads successfully but the .onEnterFrame
function thinks that loader_mc is 1 frame and 0 bytes long.

Again, I much appreciate your help. I had put some trace
statements in trying to find out what getBytesLoaded/Total were and
they were coming back with values I didn't understand, so I kept
thinking it was trying to get the values of the empty_mc I had
instantiated instead of the thing I was trying to load and I kept
scratching my head as to why and tried a lot of different things
and was baffled. At any rate, in the end I think it's a timing
issue if I understand correctly. In other words, I think the
function started executing before it could really grab the correct
information about the .swf that I was trying to load. Is that
right?
Oh well, I'm out of the ditch with that silly problem now and
moving on to my next set of challenges. :-)

Okay....I feel like an idiot

Trying to burn a dvd from iMovie 08 to iDvD 08. GEEZ! My movie project does not transfer to iDVD 08. I can't burn from iMovie and when I try to transfer to iDVD, I cannot find a way to burn a simple video. It ends up copying like a test disc. Once done, I open the dvd, and it appears with a menu item and doesn't just play on my computer. When I load it on my dvd, it shows that stupid menu page with Root as the main subheading. On the pc, Roxio just burns a video to a disc and bingo. Instant video. I cannot figure out how to transfer in a proper manner. Please.....Help.

Or am I missing something?
To add to what AppleMan has already said, you need to "author" the DVD. That is, you need to encode your iMovie project output to MPEG-2 video content and multiplex it with either PCM audio (in the case of iDVD or DVD Studio Pro) or AC3 audio (in the case of Toast or DVD Studio Pro), add certain additional files which tells the DVD player which files to play and in what order, etc. Strictly speaking, the "templates" and menus are not required. You can, for instance, can create "insert and play" DVDs with Toast or DVD Studio Pro (or even turn an iDVD image files into such using an external utility) but this is not the normal way iDVD authors its DVDs.

Ok, what exactly is the Airport extreme? I have a router and a wireless modem at work. What piece of equipment is this replacing? I don't get what it actually does and what advantage it would offer me. My current modem is wireless capable. So is the extreme a modem or what? I know this is an elementary question but I just don't get it. Any explanation is appreciated.

The Airport extreme has a few other functions added. Printer sharing without having to leave one computer on to share the printer and network storage. There is only one USB port, however you can use a USB hub to share
ultiple printers and HDs. It also supports the back to my Mac service you get with a MobileMe subscription.

I feel like an IDIOT! Please help me...

I have had my iBook for 2 1/2 yrs now, and until now just used it to store photos & music, do some desktop publishing & word processing. I decided to venture into the "iMovie" application which is interesting. I'm trying to make a movie from pictures in iPhoto which is doing fine but not i'm having MAJOR probs.
1. The text in my "title pages" looks good on the preview & fuzzy during the movie.
2. Sometimes while playing the movie to see how the music sounds with the pics, it "stutters", whereas in iPhoto the slideshow plays flawlessly.
3. I(thought I) finished my movie & hit the "Create iDvd" button, and I get a message that says 'COMPATIBLE VERSION OF IDVD REQUIRED, VERSION 3.0 OR GREATER REQUIRED'
****When I called Applecare, they said all I needed to do was go online & do an update, but I can't figure out what "update" i'm looking for. PLUS... (I don't know if this matters or not) I don't have an "iDvd" icon on my computer, just the button within iMovie.
Sorry for the long post, but i'm getting extremely frustrated, and I just want to finish this movie as a Memorial cousin who was killed last year to give to his mom.

1) Text always looks better on the computer because it has much higher resolution than a TV so once in the movie it is downgraded to TV format. It will probably look better on an actual TV but still not as good as a computer.
2) What processor and speed is your computer? It could very well be a problem with the processor not being able to keep up with everything. Sometimes you get this when previewing, but after sending to a DVD or tape it plays fine.
3) Do you have a Superdrive on your computer? If your computer is an older one that didn't come with a Superdrive, then it didn't come with iDVD.

You can hold down on the "control" key as you click the trackpad button. You can also enable an option if you hold two fingers down on the trackpad to get a right-click when you click on the trackpad button in the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences. You also have the option of using a mouse that has a right button, it should be recognized by Mac OS X automatically.

Apple doesn't feel like responding, so I'll post this here.

Pre-note: This is actually a series of emails between customer support and I, but I emailed them back about a week ago and they haven't responded since, so I'm seeking a little help here. Please be patient and do read the whole thing, I tried to make it as clear as possible. You'll first read my first email I sent to them, then their response, then my latest response that I havent gotten a response to. Hopefully you'll understand my situation
My original email:
Ever since downloading 7.4.3 I could not connect to the iTunes store due to iTunes error 11333. I found out the only fix was to download 7.5. However downloading 7.5 corrupts my audio drive for some reason, and that matter I'd rather not get into unless you can provide me a clear solution for the problem, because of possible similar problems other users may have experienced (but none that I have seen browsing the forums -- which I myself asked for help with this issue, but to no avail). With 7.5 I CAN connect to the store, but cannot hear anything from my computer as nothing will sound. So I just quick-restored to when I had 7.4.3, reinstalled Quicktime, and sound was fixed but store connection was not. (by the way -- reinstalling Quicktime with 7.5 did not help with the sound problem)
Anyway, BACK to the matter at hand, now that you have a little back-story... I've been waiting for an update for 7.5 since...mid-November? It's been a little over two months now, I believe. Isn't that a little long? I mean, with 7.4 and previous versions, it seemed as if updates came out every couple weeks or so. I realize that there are numerous problems with 7.5 that need to be dealt with, but I am getting kind of impatient now. I have a nice gift card I'd love to spend but cannot. So, give me an estimate, about how long do you think I and all the other frustrated customers will be waiting for an update?

Hello again, sorry for the long wait. No, sadly nothing has been fixed. I decided to just give up for the time being, but I've honestly had enough of not having sound on my computer, it's completely ridiculous. iTunes 7.6 did NOT help with the situation (read below), and neither did your suggestions, sorry to say. Updating to 7.6 caused the same errors, and will probably continue to do so with the next updates.
I was reading around the Internet and not many people could help, but I did get one suggestion that said I could try uninstalling and then re-installing iTunes. So, I tried this, but it did not help. Please help me with this situation, frankly I'm sick of not being able to hear anything from my computer.
For more info on my situation that needs fixing, read at the bottom[sic] (actually the top in this thread), and disregard the "when will you update 7.5?" question. I just want to know how to fix my audio configuration problem.

Thanks for the suggestion! But unfortunately, XP has no such options...
However, in the control panel there is an option called "Sounds and Audio Devices." When I click on it, it says there is no audio device. There is also another option in the control panel, called NVIDIA nForce Control Panel, whereupon clicking I get the message, "Failed to initialize NVIDIA audio driver! Please install and try again."
!!! Oh the frustration. The only way to fix this problem is to quick-restore to when I had 7.4.3 iTunes, which was over two months ago now, and then uninstall and then re-install Quicktime. However doing this will cause me to not be able to even access iTunes, as my library is updated. So I really only want to use this option as a last resort.
Here's something else I did awhile ago with the suggestion of someone else, not sure of its importance but it might just help. I right-clicked "My Computer" and clicked "Manage". I then clicked the tab "Device Manager." Under this option were a number of devices, among them the NVIDIA(R) nForce Audio Device and the SM Bus Controller, both under "Other Devices". Both of these have a little icon next to them that consists of a yellow question mark (?) and exclamation mark , so it doesn't look good.
Just now I right-clicked my audio device option and opened up Properties, and it said:
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
Should I go ahead and follow those instructions? Same instructions for the SM Bus Controller (whatever the HECK that is).

Is your phone still covered by warranty? If so, go to your nearest Apple store and depending on what happened, this may or may not be covered by warranty. If it is, then you can get a replacement exactly as the phone you already have.
If out of warranty, then there is nothing you can do and you'll have to pay.

Trying to restore my iPhone 5 from a backup but its says that it will take over 24 hours to finish. Is there something I can try to do to speed this up? I feel like it shouldn't take this long

So I have been restoring my iPhone5 from a backup for about 3 hours now however iTunes still says that it is going to take over 24 hours to complete the restore process and the progress bar hasn't moved much at all. I feel like something has gone wrong somehow and it shouldn't take this long to complete. Is there something I can do to speed up this process or do I just have to try to wait it out? I'm scared to just unplug my phone and try again since it might screw something up.

if u unplug then that could put ur device into recovery mode. i would wait
