Feels like an alpha release

Looked forward to using safari, unexpected release for windows. One of my main concerns about switching to osx was that some sites might not work with this as majority of sites are developed for IEx only.
I like the look and feel of the UI, very elegant design compared to IE7 UI which does not appear to have been released before the UI was finished.
So far I have had several crashes, once the whole OS locked up and had to reboot the pc to continue. It would have been better to wait until this release was stable to avoid bad pr comparing to released FF or IE products.
Also had problems using some sites, in UK, unable to view BBC videos, freezing when trying to select media type (real or wm), also ebay uk states that I should upgrade to firefox to use its features and shows safari 1.0?
Hopefully apple are listening to these comments and will send out a real beta soon! Will continue to use to see if all my regular sites can be used..Back to FF for now.

There is no difference, you didnt get "shorted" Mavericks is a FREE DOWNLOAD
Open the APP store and download Mavericks.
You didnt buy a "clearance" item, you just got an Air that was there at the shop before Mavericks was released.
There is no difference other than a 40 min. download.

HT1338 This morning my mac has started pressing th 'one' key whenever it feels like it. Any ideas?

So I work from home mostly on my mac book pro, which i bought early in 2011. I set and started working exactly as i would every other day.
The mac took no irregular knocks, nothing was spilt on it but it's decided to put 1's in whenever it feels like it. I've deleted a whole bunch just writing this!
I tried to update the software because i figured it might correct a bug. I also googled the problem to see if anyone else had posted something similar but i haven't had any luck.
I don't feel comfortable taking the mac apart and my nearest apple store is a little out of the way so any help on here would be great!
oh and sometimes the 1 doesn't work, but that came with the problem never had an issue before

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Safari 6 feels like beta software! Eeek!

So I quickly installed Safari 6 on the day of release. I ended up with several problems.
1. Safari 6 crashes alot more than Safari 5 did....particularly when the dev tools are turned on.
2. Sometimes Safari 6 doesn't render the whole page. It's a really strange bug.
3. Safari 6 is sometimes unresponsive?
4. The dev tools don't make any sense. I was one of those who preferred to develop for Safari first. The tools seem like a HOT mess now. I like that they look new and all but they crash the entire browser or slow it down significantly at a time when I need it to work most.
It's like working with a slightly faster less stable version of FF. Its the most unstable Webkit release I've seen so far. I can't believe developers tested this out and thought it was ready to ship or maybe Apple just doesn't want developers developing for it's products. Safari 6 feels like self sabotage.

Just wondering if anyone shares how I feel. I bought a G5 Imac 2.1 Ghz a little over a month ago, I am doing some video editing etc.....
Now with this new one out so soon, I feel like an idiot buying the other one (20' inch at $1700).... I could really use the extra speed (if it's true that it's twice as fast.)
I wish they would have offered some type of an upgrade offer for people who bought their Imacs just recently..

I was planing to wait until the intel macs came out to buy a new computer (My first Mac btw).... but when the G5 iMacs with iSight came out, i couldn't resist... and convinced myself that i would be waiting a long while till the intel macs were released... so i got one...

Is your phone still covered by warranty? If so, go to your nearest Apple store and depending on what happened, this may or may not be covered by warranty. If it is, then you can get a replacement exactly as the phone you already have.
If out of warranty, then there is nothing you can do and you'll have to pay.

Am I the only person that feels like the salesman lied to me, wrote up contract wrong, etc?

I had purchased two Iphone 4's without contract and enjoyed not having the bill and extra fees every month. Through the prepaid carrier, my son and I didn't even know we could use a laptop or anything with our phones. Luck would have it, the only thing I had left through Verizon was my USB device that I put on my computer and after 3 years, it broke. I went to Verizon to purchase a new one, and pay cash for it to not be under contract, the first salesman assured me it was compatible like the other but after four days I had to take it back for lack of connection. 79.00 was what I paid, when returned, of course I got stuck paying the restocking fee of 35.00 and a new sales person named Cofe (at Jonesboro location) comes to assist me. He talked me into the wifi jetback for 20 or so with the NEW TWO YEAR CONTRACT as he understood I would be needing for portable devices. Had to pay full price for it and wait for my 50 bucks on the rebate card. He spots my son scoping out the 4S, he said he could make the deal worth my while if we wanted to get newer phones...never telling me how much the cost. Against my better judgement, we got new phones, promised new free Lifeproof cases, etc. I told him my funds were tight and I only wanted a plan of about 160 or 180 total for all. Paid the small amount he said was due, then get a bill for 443 a couple days later. We kept going over the data on our phones, not knowing that he in fact set us up to pay 220 a month for 10 gb data, use of jetpack and two smart phones. Paying over for what we had on the mifi we didn't know exitsted caused us to have 30 too much on device and usually 30 overcharge data. Fianlly look at bill wondering why I couldn't get it paid up and 6 calls to customer service, digging through receipts, 10 hours of phone bill hunting, and numerous hours on the phone brought to my attention that he had set me up on almost the most expensive plan, charged us 99 each for cases, 99 for two new contracts and swiped a gift card for 400 to my account without any knowledge. Also, this was a new plan since not under contract, and HE TOOK OUR PHONES that I could've sold for a small chunk and there is not a trace of where they went? He made himself a sale that day!! They have removed some of the charges since I took back the FREE cases, etc., but this has been a horrible experience. I begged the people to please let me out of my contract because now I am unemployed and sure cant afford this and I feel like he did some underhanded tactics selling and not starting the plan off right. He didn't have to sell me the jetpack, we can run laptop of phones, and I guess if I were only gonna get 99 bucks for a three month old phone, I wouldve taken it elsewhere. It's amazing that of all documents scanned in My Verizon, it does not really show a trade in, which he didn't explain anyway, nor does it show what or the actual value. I get horrible service in my area and it drags on the web.not taking long to use the data. In the last week, my phone was cut off so I had to go to the prepaid place and port over. Paid enough to keep my son's phone and laptop and got told if I dont have remaining balance in a few days, they won't port my number back to Verizon, service interrupt on all and then the process server will get to bang on my door. I have never been so disgusted with service and some of the people in that building by their actions. One tried but of course he took up for his dude Cofe.....I don't know what to do now, try to pay it or tell them take the phones and FIND MY OLD ONES then go back prepay. Read this customer service specialist, because I am pretty sure DECEIT, RUNNING GIFT CARDS, AND WRONGFULLY SETTING UP NEW CONTRACT is grounds for an official claim. You have a password, so good move on your part. Whether you erase it or the thief does, they still get to use the iPhone as theirs. Which is more important (pick one), protecting your data or punishing the thief?
Ringing occurs at the carrier. Chances are you're going to voicemail after only two or three rings. If you have an iCloud backup also a good move. Re-read my question in the first paragraph.

I feel like i am going to cry after my 3 hour update generated an 9006 error message. apple support tried to restore my ipod and when they made an error they just returned the thing to me and said sorry. sorry is not enough for breaking it. it's dead.

[SOLVED] New Install of Gnome 3.2 doesn't feel like loading

Before making this post, I have spent the majority of the day trying to solve this issue. I have switched from nvidia drivers to nouvela (sp?) drivers, incase that was the issue. I have scoured google, arch-wiki, and the forums until my eyes have bled. I have dug through the xsession-errors log to search out any missing components that might be causing this... but to no avail. If anything, trying to run and try Gnome 3.2 has made me feel like a complete idiot, who has obviously learnt nothing after years of using linux. So, I come here hoping that some one can point me to the solution my brain cannot itself come up with.
Here the situation:
I have been running KDE4 for quite some time happily. I have ran Gnome 3 back in its beginning days succesfully as well, but that was an older, now dead, pc. Having seen some neat little things about the new Gnome 3.2, I got an itch to give it a try. So, I go and follow the Gnome article on the excellent arch wiki- installing both gnome and gnome extras, letting it grab everything, change from kdm to gdm, and reboot.
Well, it gives me the old gdm I remember from the early gnome 3 days (wasn't this changed) despite it showing that it is GDM 3.2 via pacman. It shows my user name, lets me put my password, and shows the stripped background. One thing to note is that the cursor remains a clock face, never changing to a pointer.
I log in, choosing GNOME, all that remains is the wallpaper, with the clockface cursor, no pointer. I go take the kids to the bus stop, come back apx. 20 min. later, no change.
Ok, bug crushing time right? So I go through the steps. I make sure that gnome shell is indeed installed. I remove any config files (there weren't any), remove gnome shell, reinstall. No go. I rinse and repeat, but removing & reinstalling different things, such as GDM, and even gnome completely. No go.
Hopping into pekwm, I search. I make copies of the xsession-errors each time, and load them in pekwm after a reboot, looking through with pacman by myside to make sure I have any possible missing files. And finally after failure after failure I give up, and come here.
So, here's my xsession-errors log. Please, if anyone can help, or even offer any kind of suggestion that might spark something in my brain to get me going in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. If this thread needs moved, merged, etc, please do so... I've searched the forums, but now my brain is numb, so yeah...

Ok, I guess all it took was for me to post this to wake up and be able to solve the issue.
It is simple really. I just needed to re-install libltdl.
So, for those searching, if you get this similar problem,
pacman -S libltdl
is what solved it for me.

If you are having intermittent but persistent responsiveness issues with your mouse or trackpad, you may want to try using Activity Monitor to see if these incidents correspond to occupied system resources, especially system memory or CPU. Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.

So I have been restoring my iPhone5 from a backup for about 3 hours now however iTunes still says that it is going to take over 24 hours to complete the restore process and the progress bar hasn't moved much at all. I feel like something has gone wrong somehow and it shouldn't take this long to complete. Is there something I can do to speed up this process or do I just have to try to wait it out? I'm scared to just unplug my phone and try again since it might screw something up.

if u unplug then that could put ur device into recovery mode. i would wait
