Feild selection in MM01

Hi, my goal is to make the a certain tab in the Material master as required or optional.
I know I can go to feild selection groups and copy from a standard feild and assign that to a plant specific. But the thing is I want to make it material type specific i.e if I go to MM01 and select my specific material I should get a tab (Ex:material group) as optional.
The second thing is I have a material zlabel copied from the standard material type and how do I make certain views a must like basic, sales, purchasing etc...is it possible...I can make only these views available in OMS2 but ...I mean if I have 6 views showing and 3 must be a must in MM01... is it poosible.
And the third is the material type zlabel ..its view did not have material group as required when I select sales views, but when I select purchasing view it becomes a must, is it connect to views...I need to remove this ...please explain..
I know these are a lot of questions at once.....and may take twice to read them ...if they are confusing just say and I will repost it

To make field optional and mandatory you have to go to Field selction for the material and there you must assign the field to a field selection group.For this you maust know on which data screen and what field you have make field mandatory.Create and maintain field references For example in your case you want the purchasel group in the purchasing MARC-EKGRP check the field refernce and select field selection group of the material type and there you can change change the assignment of fields to field selection groups as required.
for the selection of the view sgo to define attribute of material type there you can click the material type for which you wanna to do select the views which you wanna to maintain.

FBL5N - Feild selection non editable mode

When i execute FBL5N transaction,i am not able to select the feilds as per my desire bcoz the feild display ICON is in non editable mode.
The only option i have is layout selection and not the feilds selection.

You don't have authorization for maintain ALV layouts. Please contact to your Basis department for authorization.
ALV layout authorization object is S_ALV_LAYO. Please tell your Basis departman to give this object value for '23'.

I'm not able to understand ur question, see the selection itself is your requirement based on that system will ask you for input & you can control this via tables attached in access sequence, then where is the question of changing fields. in case if you don't want any particualr field means in simple don't include that table in screen sequence.
anyway it's interesting i'm checking on this will post u if i'm able to findout.

Contract Create,Change feild selection while processing a contract

SAP Gurus,
In create contract feild selection i maintaned one feild mandatory and change contract i dont want to appear that feild as mandatory.
Create Contract - Field Selection ZES
Chnage Contract - Field Selection ZMS
But one feild selection only will be assigned to a contract document type.
Where exactly i have to configure,Let me know and please suggest me.
But i want these two thing should get captured in the contract create and change

You can customize
via
SPRO>Logistics - General>Material Master>Field Selection>
first from
Assign Fields to Field Selection Groups
you must assign MARC-EKGRP (Purchasing Group)
to a selection Group which will be mandatory.
Then from Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens
you must choose the Material Types which you want to make
Purchasing Group mandatory.
You must check Reqd Entry for the material types you want

With ref. to the above subject I want the Short text feild in display mode except for item category D. I have maintained the same in PT9B. But if I choose account assignment K it is allowing to create without material number and only with material descrription

yes system will allow you to create a pr or a po w/o material code and by just giving the material description
as this material is assumede to be for direct consumption and not for the stock purpose and as u said that u have used the field selection key to make that field as in display mode then let me tell u one thing that
there are 7 factors which affects the status of a field
u have made the field descpr. as dispaly mode for one of the fatcors but still there are other facots left and due to which u are still able to put the description

Views Selection during MM01 MSICHTAUSW-DYTXT + LSMW

Friends,
I am using LSMW to upload material master from legacy system to SAP. I made the LSMW project in one client - SANDBOX and exported the LSMW to Quality Server.
There is some mismatch in Views selection once I select Material and Industry Type. One of the view "Production Resources/Tools" is not appearing.
Would you pl suggest me where exactly I can change the settings in the configuration to make this view appear?
I tried searching the settings for Technical field name MSICHTAUSW-DYTXT for views selection.
This is bit urgent guys. Pl respond back.

In Material Master for Material type ROH , I need to make Volume, Size/Dimension, Basic Material as Mandatory field.
If i select field group 14 (where i can see size/dimension & basic material) systm also makes industry specific standard as Mandatory
Pls guide me how to group these fields together(above said 3 fields) and make it as Mandatory fields

The reason is Field selection group 14 by default assigned with
MARA-GROES -> Size/dimensions
MARA-NORMT -> Industry Standard Description (such as ANSI or ISO)
MARA-WRKST -> Basic Material
and Field selection group 86 is assigned with
MARA-VOLEH -> Volume unit
MARA-VOLUM -> Volume
{this part is OK as you want both of these}
Now in Field selection group 14 you want only 2 fields as mandatory entry
Go to OMSR -> find field MARA-NORMT here assign a new field selection group ( from available say 207)
No need to change MARA-GROES and MARA-WRKST as you require both of these ( keep them as 14)
and in OMS9 make this Field selection group 14 mandatory for your raw material

Feild selection for Mvt types

I want to modify 501 561 and 563movement type where I want to enter Vendor Batch Number at line item level for batch managed material. How do I get this field on the screen for the movement type with transaction MB1C or MIGO.

This is not possible because the influencing fields functionality is not available for MIGO. You can also check the note 329334 which explains this.
There are also no exits BADIS for this purpose until now.

Go to the transaction OMR4,select the topone document type and select the document type
RE for Gross Invoice or any required document type then click on details in the bottom you can see the refference field ,select and save .

Adding field to std screen mm01

i want to add a feild( idnlf ) to mm01 transaction.iam able to add the feild, bt data is not updating in mara table.iam using enhancement mga00001.in enhancement i wrote code as:
Tables: Mara.
Data: idnlf type mara-idnlf.
if sy-ucomm = 'BU' or sy-ucomm = 'YES'.
import mara-idnlf from memory id 'IDNLF'.
move mara-idnlf to cmara-idnlf.
endif.
and in function group screen :
MODULE ASSIGN_DATA INPUT.
if sy-tcode = 'MM01' or
sy-tcode = 'MM02'.
export mara-idnlf to memory id 'IDNLF'.
endif.
ENDMODULE.
My question is if im adding custom field the data is updating.but if iam using standard field(idnlf) the data is not updating.please let me know can we add standard field and update if so how.

CAT2 - making user defined feild visible in profile

am facing a issue ,
I need to create a New profile in CAC1 [ done] by coping the already existing profile.
IN already existing profile we have made DISPLAY settings to "CATS_ADDFI-FIELD1" - Additional field 1. This is defined as ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION. This is working fine for existing profile in CAT2 tim sheet booking. In CAC5 the Activity description is defined against YYACTVITY.fine.
Now how to make Activity description column visible in DATA ENTRY AREA in CAT2 for my new defined view . Currently I am not able to see as its in invisible mode.
Help me as its very urgent

Solution :
I could solve the problem . In CAC2 , I have selected screens thru INFLUENCINg tab and selected the profile. But I have not set chnages in global template . Means when u go in CAC2 , there is a global template for data entry profile , This needs to be chnages first and then chnages in Influencing tab .
Now my second questions:
My client needs sowm shuffle in data entry area for Eg: Work center should follow behind wage type. I have request them that create the changes and then save under new Varient . My client is not happy with VARIANT creation in CAT2 nor making it default as global.They dont wanna create any Varient but they wannt to fix the feild selection as they desired under BASIC SETTINGS.
Can we do this ? Can we chnage the feild selection under BASIC SETTINGS.?? or is theer any configuration to assign the columns to our desired way in WORK LIST or DATA ENTRY AREA??
Please advice.

Compose an Email - How to modify this feild?

This feild in red circle bellow, is a nice feature in the selection of quick contacts to send emails. It had always defaulted to the most common email address I would send through the z10.. But today this feild is another address. Does anyone know ho to modify or to add your favorite contacts? I know as you select, it will add to the email recipient, how are the workings of this feild selected.. ?

Is there more discussion about this feature anywhere? I am having trouble finding support for answering some questions about it.
- like, where is this field information stored?
- having the two frequent email addresses shown is nice, but what about the third one? It seems like you should be able to swipe / pan over to the next one.
- How do I eliminate one of what the Z10 wants me to have there? Especially, if I have a lengthy exchange with a support issue or something, and I don't want to see [email protected] permanently in that location until I email [email protected] enough times to move it to a place of honor.
- I really like the associated emails feature, where you can select one of those frequent two, and others that you typically cc will appear as well. However, where are those addresses stored? I would like to be able to add those cc's in some easy fashion to my Contacts - like, an "add all" feature or something. For those suggested cc's in the list, why don't they pop up as a suggestion when you begin typing? For instance, if one of the two email addresses is [email protected], if I compose an email and begin typing in the "to" or "cc" field "MyF . . ." I can select [email protected] only if that entry is already in my Contacts. How do I transfer all the other emails that are obivously stored somewhere to my contacts?

Validation for PO text in the material master.

Hi experts,
I am trying to do a validation on the Purchase Order Text (long text) which must always be filled in Language EN and DE.
Thus if a user tries to edit a material in MM02 or creates a new one in MM01 - this box of long text (PO text) must be filled, else it should throw an error.
i created a BADI and inside that i am calling the FM read_text , but it check for only existing text already saved in the database.
WHAT ABOUT THE RUN-TIME (ex creating a material).
or what if the user purposely deletes an existing PO long text and then tries to save it (database might already have a PO long text saved for that material).
Kindly help me if there is any FM which can be called to check in the Runtime if the PO long text is filled or if we can do some customizing and make that PO long text Mandatory.
Please not we need this field mandatory only for only 03 plants, that's where the problem is coming.

Hi,
You can maitain the PO text of material master record in english and german. To do this goto POtext view below languages maintained create icon will be there select that give the english language, enter the text in english and save. Again select german and enter the PO text.
To get the PO text view mandatory , go to SPRO, logistic general, material master, fielld selection,define plant specific feild selection and plant specific screen selection. For 3 plants you can configure here.Hence the POtext view will be mandatory and gives error if not maintained. I hope this will resolve your issue. Thanking you.
