Female to Female Thunderbolt Coupler

Has anyone could find and can direct me to source for a female to female thunderbolt coupler? My plan is to go from firewire to thunderbolt and thunderbolt to ethernet to place a G-raid pro, which only has firewire 800 ports, onto my network.  Unfortunately, can't find firewire to ethernet at a reasonable cost (this one list for $340 used - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231064512293). Now there is thunderbolt to firewire and thunderbolt to ethernet adapters available. Also, Apple didn't make the new Apple Extreme with a thunderbolt port...sadly.

Connect the G-RAID DIRECTLY to another computer with the fastest Interface it has (FireWire 800 or eSATA, for example) -- not to an Apple Extreme Base station with adapters.
Connect your local computers with Gigabit Ethernet cables (all eight wires connected), and set them for Gigabit Ethernet Speed, Full Duplex, flow control, and Jumbo Frames.
Then enable
System preferences > Sharing > File Sharing ...
... on the computer holding the G-Drive. [Sharing in Apple's view, means "Making available for others to use". Once available, you just use the Shared item (and that use is not referred to as Sharing.]
File Transfers go directly from Computer-to-Computer, they do not use the Router as intermediary. So they will be at Gigbit speeds.
If you are concerned with leaving the computer with the G-Drive on all the time, set it to "Wake on Network Access", since it is supported (in a fairly round about fashion) by having a smart Apple Router or Apple-TV on the network.

  • Thunderbolt male to mini dvi female

I am trying to use an old tv to do karaoke in my game room.   Being new to the Mac world, I purchased a mini dvi to vga which would have worked if I actually had a mini dvi port.  My macbook pro has thunderbolt connection. Now I know that mini-dvi and thunderbolt are not the same things.  Looking to purchase the adapter, it seemed as though the retail community used thunderbolt and mini dvi interchageable.  Help please.

Edit #2 (as I lose my mind making a cable centipede ):
Actually, I don't think anything above would work and the only Frankenstein that works together would need another double female adapter like this:
    Thunderbolt (M) from the new monitor -> Thunderbolt Adapter (F) -> Thunderbolt (M) with HDMI (F) -> HDMI cable -> HDMI (F) with Mini-DVI (M) -> Mini-DVI (F) in the old Mac

  • Thunderbolt Female Adapter

Does Apple or anyone else make a Thunderbolt Female adapter to USB female adaptor.

Exactly what are you attempting to do with this adapter?
More details might be helpful if you can explain what devices and ports you wish to connect together.

  • If I get a FireWire 800 male to USB female, and a Firewire female to Thunderbolt cable

If I get a FireWire 800 male to USB female, and a Firewire female to Thunderbolt Male cable, would I gain any transfer speed of the thunderbolt over standard USB speed? So basically I'm talking about chaining together a few cables and am trying to gain more transfer speed. Thanks......

Apple has announced a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter, but not yet given a release date.

  • How can I connect my 27 in display that has a Mini Displayport out (male) to my early 2011 MacBook Pro with a Thunderbolt in (female)??

I purchased a 27 inch display and am struggling to find a simple way to convert the Mini Displayport that leaves the display to my 13 inch MBP that has a Thunderbolt input? I cannot seem to find a simple adapter or cable. The Mini Displayport is connected to the display and cannot be removed. The mini displayport cable fits into the Thunderbolt plug....but does nothing. Any solution is appreciated!

It should work plugged into the Thunderbolt port.  No adapter is needed.  Is the plug pushed in all the way (no metal showing)?
Is the display's power cord plugged in to a power outlet?

  • What cables do I need to connect my 2013 macbook pro to my HD tv? I know I need mini display to HDMI, but male? female HDMI??? and also, do I need a separate cable for sound?

what cables do I need to connect my 2013 macbook pro to my HD tv? I know I need mini display to HDMI, but male? female HDMI??? and also, do I need a separate cable for sound?

Actually you need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. It will carry both audio and video.
This one will work: Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support

  • Can someone recommend a Mini Displayport Female to HDMI cord/adapter?

I would like to get an Apple 27" to use with my PC, which has both HDMI and DVI inputs. Thanks!

Please clearify which Apple 27" display you want to connect.  Is the the 2010 model which uses a mini-displayport.  Or is it the current thunderbolt model.
If it's the TB model you're out of luck.  You cannot connect a TB device to anything other that TB.
    Confusing Mini DisplayPort with Thunderbolt
I generally recommend monoprice.com for cables and components.  But a female mini-displayport adaptor to hdmi may be a problem to find.
Note, for DVI, if you want to use a 27" to it's full resolution you need dual-link DVI if you decide to use a DVI port.  Also DVI does not pass audio.

  • Male micro USB to female apple dock connector

Hey there does anybody know where I can get a male micro USB to female apple dock connector cable from?

  • Where to find a USB "full power" male/female cable?

Last year i got an ElGato Turbo h.264 usb stick. It speeds up encoding. It needs to use the full power USB port so it won't work connecting it to your keyboard. ElGato included a "full power" male/female cable so the user doesn't have to reach behind the iMac all the time to plug the usb stick in and out.
Does anyone know where to buy cables like this? I don't need a powered usb hub. Just a cable.
    thx

  • Does apples 30 pin male to female adapter work with iphone 4s to skydock

does apples 30 pin male to female adapter, work with iphone 4s to skydock (xm radio car cradle/charger)?

    Howdy nanster23,
If you have as yet been unable to use this 30pin to lightning bolt adapter, I would like to recommend the troubleshooting in the following article to help you get that squared away:
If you need help with iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch accessories
These sections in particular since you have already done a couple of them:
Disconnect and inspect the accessory, then restart your device
Disconnect the accessory and turn it off, if possible.
Inspect the connection between the accessory and device and make sure that no debris or other damage is present.
Restart your iOS device by turning it off, then back on. When the Home screen appears, reconnect the accessory.
Restore iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Restore your iOS device. You should rarely need to use this step with an accessory issue. If the issue only affects a third-party accessory, contact the manufacturer before restoring the device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • 24 female looking for people to play online with

I have no friends that have a ps4 so I cant play online and its getting boring ha so if anyone's keen to multiplay then add me I got cod AW and ghost, assasins creed untiy black flag, bloodborne, the last of us, wolfenstein, resident evil Lego movie and a couple more. Don't bother adding me if your just gonna be a tool though I don't have time for that lol.

By "tool", do you mean, spend all my game time attempting to sweet talk you into some type of online relationship that will never happen and then when I realise it's futile, turn on you, bully and threaten you and then call you a woman of ill repute to all your online friends?  Cause if you don't want me to follow the classic "lonely young male gamers online interaction with a female gamer formula" - then sadly I guess I wont friend you. If you're a dude pretending to be a chick though - call me!

  • Mini-DVI to VGA cable... LCD TV has female input

I recently bought a mini-DVI to VGA adapter from an Apple store, to connect my MacBook with a broken screen to a UMC LCD TV. When it came to plugging the VGA end into the TV, I realised it has exactly the same connector (female I think) as the TV. This obviously means they will not connect, and I haven't been able to find a connector that will do the job. I was surprised to find that after a fair amount of searching no one else appears to have had this problem, so maybe I'm being stupid somewhere here. Thanks for help.

You need a VGA male-to-male cable to connect the Apple mini-DVI to VGA adapter to your LCD TV:
MacBook > Mini-DVI to VGA adapter > VGA male to male cable > LCD TV

  • IMac 10.4.11 Because permanent vertical lines have appeared on my screen, I need to get a new monitor. The adapter apple sells goes from female VGA to mini-DVI. What kind of cable should I get as well:female to male?

If I use an adapter (female VGA to mini-DVI) for my iMac 10.4.11 OSX, I also need a cable. Should that cable be female VGA to male VGA?
Permanent vertical lines have appeared on my display, and connecting to another display (monitor) requires a cable and adapter. I want to be sure I am purchasing the correct cable for the Apple adapter.

What made me think I need to format if I upgrade the OS?
    I just presumed so really.
What made me think I need to constantly format computer with my problem?
Well, after many attempts to repair the drive, which fails, cannot even reach the log in screen, I am left with no other choice?
And also, I have to note now, System Preferences keeps crashing without reason, it either takes ages to load, just by clicking it to open, or clicking something within it, or it just crashes.
And temporarily, it freezes the computer totally, with no response.
Seriously, am I missing a system file or something? Anyone experienced this problem before?
My computer is literally a blank computer right now, installed VLC and Shades, updated Adobe Flash Player, installed Skype and Adium. I would say Growl from Adium caused it, but it has happened prior to Skype and Adium. Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks,
    From Lelouch

  • Does anyone know if the HDMI to DVI Adapter that comes in the Mac Mini box is DVI end male or female?

Does anyone know if the HDMI to DVI Adapter that comes in the Mac Mini box is DVI end male or female? Should I be getting a male to male DVI cable, or will this one work out of the box? Thanks!!

Looking at mine - the DVI end is female.

  • Is the apple mini DVI to DVI 'D' and 'Male' or 'Female'

    Hi all,
New to DVI and HDMI... So excuse me if this is an obvious question...
I plan to buy the Apple mini-DVI to DVI cable. My lcd tv only has HDMI... I believe a female input.
I plan to buy a third party DVI to HDMI cable. The one I am looking at is a Male DVI-D to Male HDMI cable.
Will the DVI at the end of the Apple cable work with the DVI-D Male third party cable?
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Alan

Just about anywhere has DVI to HDMI cables. The HDMI will plug into your TV with a male end from the cable to the female of the TV. The Mini DVI adapter will plug into you MacBook with a male end to the female of the MB. The cable you have (the DVI to HDMI) should have a male end (the one with the prongs) which is inserted into the Mini DVI to DVI cable you get from Apple.
