Female US English voice of Siri sounds different in iOS 8.1.3

Has anyone noticed how Siri sounds more robotic now?
I have tested all the voices, and every one of them has the same expressiveness/tones/friendliness, whatever word you want to use. The one voice that doesn't anymore, is the US English female voice. It doesn't say "Brrr" the same way anymore, and it just responds flatly when you ask it to do different taks now, like text someone, email a person, perform a command, etc. If anyone else has noticed this let me know. I'm blind and use Siri every day, I know something is up. Thanks,
Josh

  • HT204389 Siri sounds horrible since ios 7

I just got a iPhone 5c and Siri sounds like crap. She sounds like a robot, and sounds worse than ios 6. I need help.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that didn't help, reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. No data will be lost but all device settings will have to be entered again.

  • Why does siri sound different all of a sudden?

So I'm currently using a Verizon iPhone 5s and got it about 2 weeks ago. When I first used siri she had more of a fluent human like voice but now she sounds robotic, like how when the iPhone 4s came out with siri she sounded robotic.

There could be a number of reasons, first thing to check is if you are clicking Command + or Command -. The Command 0 keystrokes restore Safari to the actual size. You can also reset Safari by Safari - Reset.

  • Siri sounds different, robotic after a reboot, iphone 4s?

  • Siri sounds different to my friends

I had my ipad repaired at a shop, and since then he sounds really weird

Go to settings>Siri>Off. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Siri>on. See if that makes a difference.
If it didn't - Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that didn't work,  You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.

  • Why Does Siri Sound fast/robotic?

I notice that with iOS7 that Siri sounds different on TV ad's and videos online, but after I updated mind does sound different but robotic, works fine and only after I bought a used iPhone 4s from a work friend and setup for my Mom to use as an iPOD her Siri voice sounds so much BETTER... like non-robotic and more natural voice, both are different from iOS6 but my phone is different not natural, I seen many posting about this problem but no real fix.
I have Apple Care and before I call or visit a store I thought ill post this?
    Thanks

    Hey appleab,
Great question. I believe the following article addresses your concerns:
iOS: Understanding Siri and VoiceOver voices
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5025
Your iOS device initially uses a compact voice for both Siri and VoiceOver. After you have configured a Wi-Fi network and have the device connected to a power source, iOS will automatically download and install a more natural-sounding voice.
    Siri
    1. Go to Settings > General > Siri > Language.
    2. Select the Language and Voice Gender* you want to use.
Note: If you change the language or gender for Siri, the new enhanced-quality voice will need to download.
    Thanks,

  • HT204389 Siri sounds like beta Siri after installing a fresh Copy of iOS 7.0.2

I have a 32GB iPhone 5s on AT&T I recently installed a fresh copy of iOS 7.0.2 and now Siri does not sound like the new Siri she has the robotic voice again. I have went to Settings>General>Accessibility>Voice Over(Which is off)>Languages & Dialects>Default Dialect(Set to U.S. English) and turned enhanced voice on. I watched it download the enhanced voice. Still the same thing. I have powered off the phone and powered it back on. Siri still sounds like the siri of old. I have performed a hard reboot. Siri still sounds the same. When I first got the phone she sounded as advertised. Is there anything else I should try?

    Hey hmj9007,
Great question. After restoring or updating a device, the system initially uses a more compact voice while the natural-sounding voice is downloading:
    About Siri
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4992
Can I change how Siri sounds?
Your iOS device initially uses a compact voice for Siri. Your device will automatically download and install a more natural-sounding voice when you first connect to power and a Wi-Fi network.
Change the gender at Settings > General > Siri > Voice Gender. The voice genders that are available vary by country and region.
Change the language at Settings > General > Siri > Language.
If you change either of these, the new enhanced-quality voice will download when you connect your device to power and a Wi-Fi network.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

OH and i just locked and unlocked my iphone and now the enhanced quality WILL NOT DOWNLOAD it keeps going back to the off button instead of on WHATS HAPPENING :((((((((

Well I think you can get the best answers if you walk into a VZW store. But to my knowledge, you will be able to convert your existing number and start a prepaid plan. Then once you have the prepaid plan, I believe it must be on the Prepaid account six months before you can convert it back to a contract account.
And as for the new phone, as long as you start your new contract with your existing phone, you should be able to get the new iPhone in october at the the discounted rate, the same rate you would get if starting a new contract.

  • I just updated my iPhone 5 and Siri sounds more like a robot and I don't know what's wrong. My iPad Siri and my moms iPhone Siri sound like real people. Why doesn't my phone Siri sound like it should???

Siri sounds more robotic on my iphone for the iOS 7 update.....  Help????

    Hello smartbud,
The following article provides steps for changing the way Siri sounds.
Can I change how Siri sounds?
New female and male voices will be available initially in U.S. English, French, and German. You can change the gender by going to Settings > General > Siri > Voice Gender. Your iOS device initially uses a compact voice for Siri. iOS will automatically download and install a more natural-sounding voice when you first connect to power and a Wi-Fi network.

  • Why does siri sound robotic?

Just updated my iPad iOS to 6.0.1 and now Siri's voice sounds robotic like someone's shoved something down its throat. Tried changing to different languages and they all have the same robotic tint to them. Any one have any idea what's going on? I have the most recent iPad ( iPad 3 I think)

  • Siri sounds bad

Since updating on iOS 7, Siri sounds really bad (like a computer voice). On other iPhones Siri sounds clear and natural. What's wrong with my iPhone 5?

I have this problem too on my new iPad Air.
    Apples explanation is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5025?viewlocale=en_US
In general comes a clean iOS install with so called compact voices. Those are the ones that sound robotic. As soon the device knows what language you are going to use, it will download the natural one. (Power and Wifi required just as with backups.)
After reading some of the rumors and assumptions in other Siri voice questions I like to add:
    - the voice is generated on the device, not on Apples servers, thus a high load in the backend wont result in a bad voice quality.
    - including all voices for all languages in the initial OS install packet would increase the size massively and waste space on the device you rather want to use for documents and Lapps. Downloading localizations is sensible common practice in app's. (See Where is my Water 1 from Disney on the iOS App Store for instance)

  • Phoneme mode for non-English voices in OS X 10.7

    Hi!
I need to make the text-to-speech synthesizer speak via phoneme input method with non-English voices.
Is it possible? As far as I can see, only English voices support phoneme input method.
    I'm using the OS X 10.7 voices.
Do I need to set the speech channel differently?
    Thanks!

    Tom,
Unfortunately, I tried that and it's still stuck in Spanish.  On things like...the Login Screen, Warning Screens, etc.  My menu and apps, finder, etc. are all in English, but some of the core items seem still stuck in Spanish.  Any other ideas of how to fix this?  Will there be a chance to adjust this when Mountain Lion is available?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Difference in English languages in Siri

I bought an iPhone 4s and have been loving it, but I'm having a problem with Siri.
I'm an Australian who has moved to the US.  I have a strong Australian accent, and when Siri is set to English (United States), it never understand it when I say "Home" or "Note".  These are very important words for Siri, and because it never understands me I can't things like "Remind me to do this task when I get home", or "Note to self, blah blah blah."
When I set Siri to English (Australian), it understands me every single time.  Thing is, you can't leave it in English (Australian) because Siri refuses to do quite a lot of things in the US unless English (United States) is set.
Does anyone know if there's a way around this limitation for people like me who have our "language" on the phone but are limited by our location?
To the people at Apple, can this restriction please be unlocked?  We live in a global community now, where people living in different countries is nothing out of the ordinary.  Doesn't locking the language or dialect to a set location give the wrong impression?
    L

I have exactly the same problem, an Aussie living in the US and I just posted about it this morning.   It seems there's no way to side-step the locking of language to location-services, which to me is simply bizarre and extremely short-sighted.
The language choices elsewhere on the iPhone do not seem to imply or restrict any localtion-related services, the location of your carrier or Apple account or sometimes GPS location is determining.  Not making Siri work this way is just inviting frustration for no good reason as far as I can see.
Anyway, probably the only way to get Apple to fix this is to get as many people as possible filing bug reports on the feedback link that Tom posted earlier in this thread.  Time for some crowdsourcing.
Meanwhile, I'm practicing rolling my R's and pronouncing every vowel completely and with a nice twang.
