Female voice distortion

I'm putting together a podcast and I've used the male to female conversion filter. I'm very impressed with the overall effect, however it has some high frequency distortion. Is this normal? I know that I could put a filter over it, but, if this is a common problem somebody might have a more precise solution. If you do, I'd love to hear it!

I just happened in here as I wanted to ask a question or two about creating my first podcast and I saw your answer about the "pencil icon" - something I've seen reference to before but never, never, EVER seen in any GB window which I've opened!
All I want to do is to make some daily observations for a handful of people to hear yet I can't seem to even find the most basic controls to make a decent vocal recording... I'm going to post a gripe, moan, and plea msg elsewhere but where, may I ask, is this pencil icon????

  • Female Voice saying "Verizon Wireless" keeps playing for no apparent reason.

I got my droid on release day, and ever since it says "verizon wireless" in a female voice pretty often.  The phone would be sitting idle, and i did not get any notifications or anything.
Is there any way to disable that sound or any thing that might be causing this?
I would also love to disable it completely,  it can be annoying to hear it every time i recieve a phone call, before the ringtone, or i place a phone call, before it starts ringing.

I have this also and I have tried to find this option and disable it but I havent had any luck so far, I am sure its something I activated in menu but I cant figure out what option, if anyone knows the solution to this and know how to turn it off, PLEASE SHARE.... because its driving me crazy (Crazy Tick)

  • How to set female voice as software instrument?

I want to use the GarageBand software keyboard to play female vocals (to use in practicing pitch matching). I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Maybe there's a plugin I need?
I'm pretty technically competent, but a novice w/music sw.
To be clear, I don't want setting that optimize recording a real female voice. I just want to press a key and hear a female voice, in tune, that I can match the pitch of my own voice to.

Do you have the JamPacks installed?
In the Jam Pack "Voices" is a Software Instrument "Synth Soprano Solo". That is the closest you can get to a female solo voice with the ready made instruments.
The JamPacks are available as part of MainStage 3 bought from the AppStore.
Or create your own vocal instrument by duplicating a "Sound effectss" Instrument and adding your own samples to the scales.
Sing the scales once and correct the pitch with flextime to get it perfect. Export the scales as an audio file and reimport it.
Cut out regions "C", "C#","D". etc.
Create a software instrument track.and set it to "Sound Effects Instument". Safe the Instrument with anew name . Now modify the sound effects by dragging your samples to the corresponding keys and you can play your own voice perfectly in tune.
    Safe your new instrument.
See this help text: GarageBand '11: Play sounds with the Sound Effects Software Instrument
You will see the sound effects you added to your custom instrument, when you hover the mouse over the keys. This will display the name of the sample the key will play.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 change female voice to man voice?

its my first time using adobe audition ps help me...im just using this for our project in english
we recoreded a video and there are some videos that didnt have clear voices...i hope i can edit it ....to change it...like to cut all the voice in the video then replace it with the voice which im trying to create....
is it possible to change a female voice to a man voice? or somehow similar ... or just like deepens the voice? if yes...how?
pls help me...i really have to do this....thank you to those who would reply...

Well, it's possible and easy to lower the pitch of a voice.  Use Effects/Time and Pitch then select the "Stretch" option.  Select the "Pitch Shift--Preserves Tempo" box and drag the control until you get the pitch you want.
The bad news, though, is that the degree of shift you want is going to sound very artificial and "science fictiony" rather than a real voice.  If you want the reasons behind this, do some Googling on the word "formants".  The human voice is very complex in how it produces sounds  and simply playing with pitch makes the relationship between these sounds incorrect and artificial.  I believe there are very expensive bits of software that can do this but I've never played with them.
The other parts of you question suggest to me that you may wish to attempt what is known as "looping" or "ADR" in the professional film industry.  This is getting an actor to re-voice the dialogue that was recorded on location.  In a big budget film, it's not uncommon for 80 or 90% of dialogue to be replaced this way.  Basically, you need to break your dialogue into short (one line) segments and arrange your monitoring so the actor can hear it over and over (usually with two or three timed "beeps" counting down to the line) so the actor can get the timing and speak in unison with the pre-recorded audio.  It's time consuming but not TOO difficult.  However, be careful with the acoustic of where you're recording.  An echoey room will sound wrong if your scene is shot outdoors for example.

  • Turning off audio of female voice stating "Verizon Wireless?" (Droid X)

    I am using a Droid X.
When I turn on my phone, a female voice says, "Loss of service" and then says, "Verizon Wireless." The "Loss of service" audio message also occurs if I turn on the phone's Airplane Mode. Also, when the phone rings, the female voice says, "Verizon Wireless."
My wife has the identical phone and never hears these audio messages. I looked for a way to turn off these audio messages in "Settings" but I couldn't find it.
How do I turn off these audio messages?
    Thanks.
    Richard

The setting you're looking for is called "Enhanced Roaming Indicator" but on the Droid X I think settings just calls it "roaming tone". uncheck that and the voice should go away.

when I use voice over to read an epub in my Ibooks app, which is in Dutch, sometimes he start reading a book with an English Female voice and some books he reads with the Dutch male voice (which is good). All my epubs are Dutch books so the English voice sound terrible trying to pronounce Dutch. Can i fix this problem? Thanks, Tom

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

  • Why do I have this voice distortion on export

Hello to akk, I am facing this problem while editing and exporting my current project: voice distortion. FYI, the present project has stretches of voiceovers interspersed with audio recorded by my Sony handycam. Even while editing the project on the timeline, I experienced, while adding effects to the audio, a voice distortion coming on and off. This voice distortion I experienced in both the voiceover and also the 'handycam-recorded' audio sections. I guess that while editing, I resorted to this method of getting rid of this distortion, stopping the play and starting again from a previous part of the project. This used to get rid of the distortion. While reviewing the project many times before export, the audio seemed to be fine. But after exporting [H 264 720p, 5 mbps, single pass], I have found this problem: the voiceover stretch is distorted whereas the 'handycam-recorded' audio is fine.
Is this distortion of the voice due to the effects I have added? The audio effect which I suspect to have caused this distortion [upon export] couls be 'STEREO SPREAD'. The other effect I have aded to the voiceover audio clips is: Voice Over Enhancement.
I shall move on and try to export after removing the 'stereo spread' effect and see what would happen. But untilsuch I time I would love to know from peers as to what has caused this problem. FYI, I have very little knowledge of the requirements of editing audio and I can say I am 'dabbling' with this matter. I have not had any distortion related audio problems when I was using the 8th version of FCPX.

    Hello Russ and Peter,
Thanks for being helpful. I trust the following screenshots will help you to understand the matter:
FYI, this screenshot shows the position of the project after I have done the unchecking of the stereo spread effect for all the 3 [compound] audio clips immediately beneath the primary storyline. When I had made the first export, the stereo spread effect was checked in all the three clips.
The first clip which has been selected and whose information is presented in the inspector window is the 'introductory' voice over which is a compound clip of several voice overs done for that section. It is this compound clip having the voice overs that is having a voice distortion. Pertinently, there is no voice distortion when the clip is played on the timeline having both the 'voice over enhancement' and the 'stereo spread' effects checked. It is only in the exported movie that I get the distortion. You may hear this distortion by viewing the video which I have posted on You Tube. The link to this video is given at the end of this post.
The above screenshot shows the second compound clip being selected. This clip contains the audio fro my Sony Handycam. The effects which have been added to this clip can be seen in the inspector window. You can see that the stereo spread is unchecked, but, it was checked when I had made the first export. There is no voice distortion in this compound clip either on the timeline or in the exported movie.
The above screenshot shows the third compound clip selected. This clip has all the voiceovers of the ending message of this project. There is no voice distortion with this clip either on the time line or after export with the two effects checked.

Thanks in advance. Regards and take care!

  • While in shuffle mode, a female voice suddenly cuts into a song. How do I stop this?

The last two times I've used my nano (ipod touch) during workouts, I've put it in shuffle mode. In the middle of the workout, a female voice cuts in announcing the song. Eventually, the voice starts reciting all of my playlists and randomly plays them, continuing to cut in and announce the titles. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? Thanks.

It sounds like you are using the headset with the controls on the wire. If this is the case, your sweat is getting into the controls and causing the center button to act as if you are pressing and holding it. Try using a different headset that does not have buttons on the wire.

  • Voice Distortion

I am brand new to Final Cut Pro and am trying to learn some new stuff. I want to do a voice distortion on an interview clip. Sort of like in those NBC news shows where they interview someone who saw a murder and they don't want people to know who it is so they deepen the voice. Can anyone help?? Thanks a lot!

how hard do you want to make it?
you can bounce the interview segments out to SoundTrack Pro and do some pitch shifting there
or grab a free AU plug such as Octave Shifter from Audiowish and use it from within FCP
or just use the one already built in Audio Filters>Apple>AUPitch

  • Male to female voice changer app?

hi everybody! anyone know whats the name of this app, where you can change your voice from male to female or vise versa in real time while making a call?  thanks!

First, read the TOS about double (multi) posting. You will only upset everybody here and get all your posts deleted.
Second, no app can work as an add-in to another app (eg: no app can run while on the phone) thus no, nothing can do what you want.

  • Voice distortion problem in Garageband...can anyone help?

While recording a 30 minute audio clip of voice with some ambient noise...the voice begain to get distorted. There are 5 segments of voice all recorded using Macbook Pro microphone built in. On the second segment, a noise that sounds like low white noise began to occur while the voice was speaking. It comes up very quickly just before the voice and goes away just after. This hapens in the middle of the segment with no changes I can see and continues into the rest of the segments.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks...

If you used the built in microphone you may have captured the the noise of the fan starting if your MacBook Pro was heating up. That noise sometimes does sound like low white noise.
If tht's the case let the computer cool down between recordings or use an external microphone.

  • HT204389 how do i change siri to a female voice

can you change siri to a female voice

Siri's voice depends on your location. UK is male, whilst US and Australia is female. You can change it using these instructions. Changing your location may result in issues with recognition and dictation, as the languages are slightly different.

  • Garage Band Podcast Female Voice

I am trying to produce an all-vocal podcast using Garage Band, and when I record my voice, it sounds deep and draggy. I tried to change the pitch, but that didn't work.

I am using the built-in mic, but for some reason, the problem fixed itself. Now I have a new issue. I want to fade out my jingle only and not the vocal recording. How do you edit one region at a time?

  • Holding play button starts female voice, voice over is off.

    someone can help me?¿

    Hi, Peter.
See if "Mac OS X: Text to Speech voices can be previewed in English only" applies. The play button is dimmed if your language is not English.

  • IMac xp bootcamp microphone voice distortion

Has anyone experienced the problem with the microphone not working under Bootcamp XP with iMac with the Cirrus Logic chipset? The only sound emitted sound like slow motion robotic voice. Any help from apple would be great. I am trying to run a mission critical video conferencing software. The problem exists in Window specifically so this problem is not caused by third party software.
If Apple representative is seeing this post please assist.
note: IMacs running Realtek Audio chipset do not have this problem with the mic.
    Thanks

Unfortunately some Macs don't have an external microphone input. In order to use a microphone, you either have to use a Mic amplifier or a Mic with a built-in amplifier to bring the input up to normal line-in levels.
An imic might be a good solution:
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic
I've seen them as cheap as $30 from suppliers such as Amazon.
A microphone pre-amp (available at guitar/instrument shops) can be gotten for about 50-80 dollars. That is the best solution if you use an external microphone also for VOIP (such as Skype). It gives the best sound quality (most pre amp have voice compression, automatic level control, anti feedback circuitry, etc built in).
