Fetching the number of records in a multi-record block...

Hi ,
In Forms10g runtime-and in previous releases too- there is , as a message, the number of records fetched/inserted in a multi-line block such as Record:5/9. Is it possible to catch these two numbers (i mean 5 and 9 , or at least the number of records)...not only in query but in the insert mode as well...?????
Many thanks ,
Simon

No, you can't capture that text, but you can write your own code to do the same thing.

  • Restrict the number of records to be fetched

    Hello Gents,
    The situation is like this, I have a report on Oracle reports 6i which fetches 2+ million records and it takes lot of time to generate,
    I’m not sure whether it can be handled in discoverer because the report has some validation procedures (Program Unit) and triggers.
    I want to restrict the number of records to be fetched in groups; I have gone through of Oracle online help
    1.     Group Filer: Filter fetches all records from database and displays only the number of records which is set to the property
    2.     Maximum Rows to Fetch: This property fetches only the number of records which is set to the property.
    I want to fetches records incrementally; I don’t want to keep resources busy
    Is there any property similar like Discoverer “Retrieve data incrementally in groups of” or any workaround?
    Help or any advice is appreciated

    If you generate a pdf, it has to fetch all records for pdf.
    If its in previewer: do you display total number of pages on the report?. If yes, >remove that and see how it comes. Other options are tunning queries and gather >the data into temp table before displaying it on the report. No, I'm generating a pdf
    No, the report is not having display page no on it.
    If I would have to create temp table, I would have used discoverer instead
    Is there any property in reports to restrict the query to get the data in groups?
    Any advice appreciated.

  • Can we specify limit on the number of records to be fetched?

    Can we specify limit on the number of records to be fetched from the database?
    I have millions of records in my DB and I want to fetch say some 50,000 latest records to optimize the performance of reports.
    Is it possible in any version of Crystal Reports?
    Regards,
    Amrita

    Hi Amrita
    Do you have any groups in your report.  If yes then this is what you need to do:
    1) Insert a section below on the Details section so that there is a Details A and Details B.
    2) Create the following formulas:
    @Formula1
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    NumberVar Number := 0;
    @Formula2
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    NumberVar Number;
    Number := Number + 1;
    3) Place @Formula1 in the Group Header. Format the formula to Suppress.
    4) Place @Formula2 in Details A. Format the SECTION (not the formula) to Suppress.
    5) Format the Details B section to conditionally Suppress by selecting the X+2 button INSTEAD of the selecting the Suppress box. This launches the conditional formatting Formula Editor.
    6) Enter this formula:
    {@formula2} > 3
    When you preview the report you will only see 3 records per group.
    Let us know if you need any further help with this.

  • Problem fetch large number of records

    Hi
    I want to fetch large number of record from database.and I use secondary index database for improve performance for example my database has 100000 records and query fetch 10000 number of records from this database .I use secondary database as index and move to secondary database until fetch all of the information that match for my condition.but when I move to this loop performance terrible.
    I know when I use DB_MULTIPLE fetch all of the information and performance improves but
    I read that I can not use this flag when I use secondary database for index.
    please help me and say me the flag or implement that fetch all of the information all to gether and I can manage this data to my language
    thanks alot
    regards
    saeed

    Hi Saeed,
    Could you post here your source code, that is compiled and ready to be executed, so we can take a look at the loop section ?
    You won't be able to do bulk fetch, that is retrieval with DB_MULTIPLE given the fact that the records in the primary are unordered by master (you don't have 40K consecutive records with master='master1'). So the only way to do things in this situation would be to position with a cursor in the secondary, on the first record with the secondary key 'master1' retrieve all the duplicate data (primary keys in the primary db) one by one, and do the corresponding gets in the primary database based on the retrieved keys.
    Though, there may be another option that should be taken into consideration, if you are willing to handle more work in your source code, that is, having a database that acts as a secondary, in which you'll update the records manually, with regard to the modifications performed in the primary db, without ever associating it with the primary database. This "secondary" would have <master> as key, and <std_id>, <name> (and other fields if you want to) as data. Note that for every modification that your perform on the std_info database you'll have to perform the corresponding modification on this database as well. You'll then be able to do the DBC->c_get() calls on this database with the DB_MULTIPLE flag specified.
    I have other question.is there any way that fetch information with number of record?
    for example fetch information that located third record of my database.I guess you're refering to logical record numbers, like the relational database's ROW_ID. Since your databases are organized as BTrees (without the DB_RECNUM flag specified) this is not possible directly.You could perform this if use a cursor and iterate through the records, and stop on the record whose number is the one you want (using an incrementing counter to keep track of the position). If your database could have operated with logical record numbers (BTree with DB_RECNUM, Queue or Recno) this would have been possible directly:

  • Limitting the number of records in query

    I like to limit the number of records retrieved in the query. I set Query All Records block property to NO, Query Array Size to the number I want to retrieve. Before doing that, I set form Preference - Array Processing checked. The result is form always retrieves all records meets the search condition. Could someone tell me what's wrong with it?

    I do not understand why and what exactly you want to do. The query array size defines the number records your form should fetch at a time, i.e. if you have 100 records in the database and you set the array size to 20, forms will perform 5 fetch cycles to retrieve all records. However, this is transparent to the user and he will see all 100 records. This property is used for performance tuning when working with a large volume of records.

  • How to find the number of records per months  in cube

    Hi,
      how to find the number of records per months for my all cubes?
      Can i use the ListCube transaction to find totl number f records per cube monthwise ?
    Jimmy

    Hi,
    Here is a program to generate no of records and list of ODS and Cubes in Active version.Schedule this program in background and create a cube to load this information and schedule to the data from the file generated by the program. Schedule this all per you requirement.
    1.Copy the code into your Z<programname> from Se38.
    2.change the FILENAME in CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' in the program to the location from where you can pick the information to load data to cube(eg Application server).
    3.Save program.
    4.Schedule the program in background as required
    5.Create cube with infoobjects to hold no of records and Infoprovider name
    6.Load this cube based on event after the program job is done.
    Hence you can report on this cube to see no of records in  CUBE or ODS in your box.
    Please find the code below.

  • How to find the number of records in ods?

    how to find the number of records in ods?
    Pls suggest the solution apart going to the table of ods and seeing the number of records.
    Is there any program or function module to see the number of records in ods?
    For eg: SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS is a program which gives the detail (number of records) of infocube.

    Hi,
    I was looking at this and found the following tables that may be of help.
    One of these tables will include a summary of the record count of all the tables in your system based on the last time each table had it's database statistics calculated:
    DBSTATTADA
    DBSTATTDB2
    DBSTATTDB4
    DBSTATTDB6
    DBSTATTINF
    DBSTATTMSS
    DBSTATTORA
    We run on an Oracle database so the table record counts can be taken from DBSTATTORA. Type in AZ in table selection field in SE16 to restrict the output to ODS (or DSO) tables only.
    The record count is at the time indicated in the timestamp field. Obviously this is not real time but should not be too out of date - if it is you may be having performance issues and should get your DBA / Basis to run a full refresh of DB stats.
    Hope this helps, alhtough not real time the table should give you a decent indication of the size of all your ODS objects (or any other table for that matter!)

    Optional prompts are not a problem.
    Assuming you first query uses the following SQL statement
    select a,b,c from t where x=y and z=@prompt(...)
    The query for checking the number of rows should use the following SQL code
    select count(*) from t where x=y and z=@prompt(...)
    The original query should be modified as follows
    select a,b,c from t where x=y and z=@prompt(...) AND (select count(*) from t where x=y and z=@prompt(...)) < 65000

  • How to calculate the number of records in Multiprovider

    Hi Experts
    I have created a report based on the multiprovider (Consist of Cube and ODS)
    I need count the number of records inside the multiprovider, how can i do it in the reporting level
    Regards
    Santosh

    Hi,
    You can use calculated key figure with replacement path variable.
    Follow This:
    1) From the context menu of the Key Figure directory, choose New Calculated Key Figure.
    2) From the context menu for the Formula Variable, choose New Variable.
    3) Choose the Processing type as Replacement Path.
    4) In the next screen, select the Characteristic Info Object based on which the number of documents is to be displayed in the report (For example: Document Number / Order Number).
    5) Choose Next.
    In the Replace Variable with drop down box, choose Attribute Value.
    In the Attribute drop down, select Characteristic Reference (Constant 1).
    6)Choose Next.
    On the Save Variable page, an overview of the settings made for the variable will be displayed.
    Confirm the entries and Choose Finish.
    7) If the Formula variable is directly assigned to the Calculated Key Figure, a warning Calculated Key Figure is not defined correctly will be displayed while executing the Query.
    8) Properties of Calculated Key Figure dialog box, assign a Technical name for the CKF.
    9) set the Time of Calculation to After Aggregation.
    Hope this will help you.

  • How do I count the number of records returned in the CMIS query

    How do I count the number of records returned in the query CMIS?
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ora:t:IDC:GlobalProfile WHERE ora:p:xRegionDefinition = \'RD_PROJETOS_EXCLUSIVOS\''}
    Euler Homero

    Hi Euler,
    interestingly enough, the reference guide for CMIS ( http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/CMIS_Query_Language ) that I found does not mention the COUNT function at all. On the other hand it states that: "The SELECT clause identifies which virtual columns to return in the result set. It can be either a comma-separated list of one or more queryNames of properties that are defined by queryable object types or * for all virtual columns."
    There are, however, some other posts like e.g. http://alfrescoshare.wordpress.com/2010/01/20/count-the-total-number-of-documents-in-alfresco-using-sql/ which state that they could make it working.
    Having asked in the WebCenter Portal forum, I assume that your content repository is WebCenter Content. The CMIS doc for the Content is available here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e15813.pdf (no COUNT there either). It does, however, mention explicitly that "CMIS queries return a Result Set where each Entry object will contain only the properties that were specified in the query.". This means your could rather investigate the Result Set. Note that there are also other means than CMIS how to get the requested result set (e.g. calling a search service directly via so-called RIDC).
    In the given context I am also interested what your use case is. OOTB CMIS in WebCenter Portal is used, for instance, in Content Presenter, where it is content rather than "parameters" what's displayed.

  • Any table or program to get the number of records in P, A and F tables

    HI all
    any table for program to get the number of records in P, A and F tables. I want to create SQ01 queries to get the status of number of records. We are gng for a production cutover next week. Want to capture all the data before and after Upgrade cutover.
    Also suggest me how to create sq01 queries.
    Thanks in advance

    Use Transaction LISTSCHEMA to see all the tables assosciated with ur cube
    Total number would be what you find in both the E & F fact tables. If there is no compression in the cube then E table will be empty.
    Alternatively u can use se16 transaction and enter E table and F table manually
    E table - /BIC/E(Cube name) and Ftable -  /BIC/F(Cube name)
    Or else u can go to the manage of the cube and without selecting any field for O/P and ticking the option output number of hits execute. The total of Row Count will give u the total no of records in the cube.

    But i wanted to know if there exist a master table which would  return me the number of records irresepctive of the  infotypes.
    Best Regards
    Manoj

    Hi,
    if you want to know the number of employees, then u should  use the infotype PA00001 and PA0000 with appropriate criteria. Infotype PA0002 should not be used to find the number of employees in the HR.
    As you requested there are no specific BAPI to find the records. Hope this helps you.
    Or u can use PAR2 transaction to find details.

  • How to set the number of records displayed at run time

    Is it possible to set the number of records displayed block property at run time? The built-in 'GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY' can retrieve the number of RECORDS_DISPLAYED. But I can't find SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY to set this property. Is there anyway I can set this property programmatically? Thanks for any suggestions!

    Bookmark Go to End
    goal: How to vary the number of records displayed in a block
    programmatically
    fact: Oracle Forms Developer
    fix:
    Block property 'Number of Records Displayed' can not be changed during runtime
    using SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY. However, it is still possible programmatically change
    the visual appearance of the form so that it creates effect of changing this
    property. To achieve such an effect follow these steps:
    1. in Forms Builder, in the multirecord block define the new set of items.
    The simplest way is to copy/paste the original item and rename created item.
    2. set properties of these new items so that they are the same as the properties
    of the original items. If these new items were copied from original items
    then properties are already the same. Modify following properties
    'Database item' on new items to value 'No'
    'Synchronize with item' to the value of the original item
    'Number of Items Displayed' to desired value.
    'Visible' to 'No'
    In other words, these new items are mirrors of original items.
    3. code event, which is meant to trigger the change in block appearance.
    This code should use SET_ITEM_PROPERTY built-in to set properties
    like 'VISIBLE', 'ENABLED', 'NAVIGABLE', 'UPDATE_ALLOWED' and others
    to desired value for items which are about to be displayed, then
    move cursor to one of these just displayed items with GO_ITEM built-in
    and then hide the previously displayed items.
    Example:
    Assume that the block is built on SCOTT.DEPT schema. Following will
    change the set of displayed items
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',visible,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',visible,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',visible,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',enabled,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',enabled,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',enabled,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',update_allowed,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',update_allowed,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',update_allowed,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',navigable,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',navigable,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',navigable,property_true);
    go_item('dept.mdeptno');
    set_item_property('dept.deptno',visible,property_false);
    set_item_property('dept.dname',visible,property_false);
    set_item_property('dept.loc',visible,property_false);

  • Rows Per Page doesn't affect the number of records displayed

    I just updated from 3.2 to 4.0 this morning. When I change the Rows Per Page value in the action menu the report doesn't change and the number of records displayed stays at 10. The report has ~6000 records. I edited the report attributes and add the rows selector to the IR search bar. This doesn't change the behavior either. I noticed that if I change the rows per page in the action menu then the drop down select list is updated, but the report still doesn't change from 10. I tried paging to the next set of results and it still remains at 10.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Tony

    Yes, Tony, I've seen this in several versions of APEX. In most cases, simply starting a new session was enough to force APEX to refresh the page and grab the new set of pagination directives. If that doesn't work, please give more info like: what type of report you are doing and what the Pagination values are. Please note the following:
    Report Template
    Pagination Scheme
    Enable Partial Page Refresh
    Display Position
    Number of Rows/Number of Rows Item
    Maximum Row Count
