Fewer paper choices when printing in v3.4.3

I haven't printed from within Aperture in quite a while and was surprised to find fewer paper choices within the print dialog. It used to show a long list of a variety of media, including 4x6 photo paper, but now all I get is A4, B5, JIS B5, US Legal and US Letter.
Also, after hitting Print in Aperture and the next print dialog comes up (the Mac OS one), I no longer have the choice of selecting which paper tray to print from, so photos I want printed on 4x6 photo paper only print from the 8x11 in the default paper tray.
I am using an HP Photosmart 3200.

If the image supplied to the Print module is not the same shape as the cell, LR has two options - enlarge the image to fill the cell which will crop the photo (most users would rather control the cropping in the Develop stage) or print the image without doing "zoom to fill" which will mean one side of the cell remains empty, i.e. white, thus de facto creating a wider border, Any crop applied in the Develop module can easily later be removed by stepping back in History or resetting the crop tool.

  • Change paper size when printing

    How to change paper size when printing pdf? No option for paper size appear.

    That is a feature of AirPrint. If you do a Google search on "AirPrint paper size" you'll find documentation from major printer manufacturers. For example, this is copied from some HP documentation:
    What paper and media sizes are supported?
    With AirPrint, paper and photo media sizes are automatically selected depending on the application you are using on your Apple device, your HP ePrint printer, and the region in which you are using AirPrint. You do not have the option to select different paper sizes.
    For example, from Apple’s Photo application, if the HP ePrint printer has a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses 4 x 6 inch photo media as the default paper size. If the printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint uses letter-size paper. If you are printing from Apple’s Safaribrowser, letter-size paper is the default paper size in the US region, and A4 is the default paper size in Europe.
    AirPrint supports the following paper and media sizes:
    Letter
    Legal
    A4
    4 x 6 in photo paper
    A6 photo paper

  • Paper jam when printing photo from Microsoft Photo Editor

    On my C7280, I want to print a photo from Microsoft Photo Editor onto plain 8.5x11 paper. This always produces a paper jam. If I copy/paste the photo into, say, Word, and print from Word, the document prints properly.
    This is not a "false paper jam" - the printer attempts to feed the paper, and jams (and creases) the paper in the attempt.
    In Photo Editor, I explicitly chose "plain paper" and "main tray", rather than automatic settings.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello @Lonewolf777 ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
    I understand that you are getting paper jams when printing from your Android device.
    I would like to help.
    Have you tried to print using the HP ePrint app?
    Also, if you are having problems using the in OS print system, install the HP Print Service Plug in.
    It acts like a print driver for your phone.
    If it is already installed, try the old, uninstall and reinstall trick.

  • I am unable to select the correct paper size when printing photo's in iPhoto 11. When I select the paper size in the custom window for 4x6 prints the prints only appear on an 8 1/2x11 page. My Mac is a year old iMac running 10.8.2.

    I am unable to print 4x6 photo's using iPhoto 11. When I do they only print out on lettter size paper even though I enter 4x6 in the custom window in the print size menu. My older Snow Leopard system using iPhoto 9 the paper size window offered a 4x6 paper size which worked well.

    Selecting paper size in the first sreen tellis iPhoto what papery you are going to use - it does not tell the printer what paper to use - printer specific options on on the last (second or third if you customize the print) screen where you tell the print any specifics like paper source (typically printers need to you tell them where a specific paper is loaded - they do not really know the sizes in each paper tray)

  • Choosing the paper type when Printing to Canon S9000

    How do I choose the paper-type setting from the print options menu?
    The Canon OS X manual speaks about a pull down menu which allows for selection of "quality and media."
    I am finding options for printer choice, rendering, layout, print image etc, but nothing that allows me to choice glossy photo paper vs. matte, et al.
    I have also downloaded a canon software update without noticeable difference.
    Am I missing something obvious here?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your response. I am accessing the print menu and subsequent options, but what I see is a window in which the correct printer is selected then below it is a section for choosing layout, then one for margins, rendering, image adjustments, image options. Everything but quality and media.
    If I futz around in I Photo I do see a limited paper choice option from a pull down, so I assume I am still missing something in Aperture itself.
    Thanks.

  • How do I select paper type when printing from Photoshop?

    Sorry to be a total technotard, but in the olden days, I could select paper type (e.g. glossy photo) from the print menu when printing from Photoshop.  Now there is no way to select paper type, at least not that I can find.  Is this an Adobe thing?  Cuz I can't figure out how to do it from InDesign either.  I'd like to be able contol image quality as well.  Thanks in advance for any help... I'm wading around in all these forums trying to find a simple answer and am having no luck...

    "hp website says the driver is built-in to the new macs, and I don't need to d/l a new one"
    First of all, this is a crock.  And a very tiresome one, as it's been used as an excuse not to post drivers for download.
    The driver is not "built into" a Mac.  There may be some version of it installed IF you happened to install hundreds upon hundreds of gigabytes of printer drivers (the vast majority of which are obsolete and brands you've never nor will ever own) when you installed the OS.  This view is just so idiotic, as you won't have installed every HP driver ever made if you didn't own an HP printer or plan to hook it up to that computer.
    Apple compounds the problem by not giving you any way to pick and install a printer driver.  Seriously, in 2009.  And this in addition to the Mac's inability to detect a new printer after you plug it in, and ask if you want to install a driver.  People tolerate that while making fun of Windows, which has been detecting new hardware and prompting for drivers since what, 1995?
    Anyway, I believe it was HP who complained that they "didn't have room on their servers" to offer drivers for download.  Unfrigginbelievable.
    Nobody who pays any attention to their printing should even consider an HP printer.  That's how incompetent their drivers are, for both platforms.
    Sad.

  • Can't change tray/paper size when printing photos

    I'm using an HP Photosmart C5200 and I want to print onto 4x6 photo paper, but I can't seem to change from the default tray with 8.5x11 paper. I've played around in the print dialogue box and File>Page Setup but to no avail.

    Not sure if this is the same problem I'm having. I have a HP C5180, and when I go to print I get all the necessary options (by dropping down the traingle as advised above), and all's great..... apart from the Source tray is always set to Main Tray instead of the Photo.
    I can change it each time I print, but it won't stay defaulted to Photo Tray even when I save or 'Save as' a new Preset. I have tried to overwrite the default ones, but no go, and also saved as a new Preset, but it still doesn't come up as the default selection next time I go in to print.
    Sounds easy enough to cope with I know, but I've set it up for a 84 year old to print from and I don't expect she'll manage to do this change every time.

  • How to set the paper size when printing to postscript...

    I need help in setting the paper size in the PrintPreference when using either the Postcript File or Adobe PDF printer to generate ps files.
    Here's what I am doing (in c++) and I seem to be getting only 8.5x11 no matter the document page size:
    LPDISPATCH p_Dispatch = Document.DocumentPreferences();
    p_Dispatch = Document.DocumentPreferences();
    if(p_Dispatch)
    DocPreference docPreference(p_Dispatch);
    pgOrientation = (idPrintPageOrientation)docPreference.get_PageOrientation();
    pageW = docPreference.get_PageWidth();
    pageH = docPreference.get_PageHeight();
    paperSize = docPreference.get_PageSize();
    docPreference.ReleaseDispatch();
    p_Dispatch = Document.PrintPreferences();
    if (p_Dispatch)
    { PrintPreference printPreference(p_Dispatch)printPreference.SetPrinter(idPostscriptFile);
    printPreference.PrintFile(outfile);
    printPreference.SetPaperSize(paperSize ); /*I have also tried idCustom but it crashes with invalid parameter for the object type.*/
    printPreference.SetPaperWidth(pageW);
    printPreference.SetPaperHeight(pageH);
    VARIANT vprinterPresetType;
    vprinterPresetType.vt = VT_I4;
    vprinterPresetType.lVal = CInDesignApplication::idCustom;
    Document.PrintOut(FALSE, vprinterPresetType);....
    So how do i pas the document paper size to the print preset or preference?
    I appreciate your input.

  • HT204135 paper selection when printing

    On my last computer, when I went to print a job, I was able to communicate with the computer and printer and let it know that I was using a certain quality of paper, whether it be glossy, matte or something like standard. How come that option isn't available for me now on my MAC? I have an Epson R220 printer if that helps.

    The option should be available in the print dialog. When you select to print from an application, if you only see a limited view, then maybe you need to press the Show Details button, as shown below.

  • Paper creasing when printing

    When a sheet of paper exits from my printer, there's a long crease on the upper left corner of the paper. I've tried the solutions for "paper creasing" in the manual (changed the media, reversed its position in the media tray, etc.), but the creasing persists. The paper also creases when I use the straight-through printing option in which the paper exits from the rear of the printer. Any thoughts?

    Hi,
    you can define it using SAPD trasaction.,
    click on full administration->then choose Device Type tab-> then click on FOrmat types.
    here you can create your own formats.

  • Paper setup when printing PostScript not supported

    I am trying to print an InDesign 6,3x9,6in document to a PostScript file and the only PPD available is "Device Independent", which doesn't support custom paper settings. I'd like it to be centered on the A4 rather than on the bottom left corner, which it does by default. There's no Acrobat PDF printer, and it is not in the last backup.
    If I try creating a PDF directly from InDesign I cannot specify page settings and my crop marks appear at the edge of the smallest page. I can try creating bleedings but it seems a bit messy and I'll never get the document to be an exact A4.
    I suspect this is to do with the Snow Leopard vs Acrobat PDF printer issue. While we wait for a solution, is there a way around this problem, please?

    The option to print to a PostScript file using the PDF Printer was removed in Snow Leopard because the new security features made it impossible to implement. There will be no "solution"
    Exporting a document allows you to control all the normal functions, but as you have found you cannot choose the "paper size".
    The only workaround as far as I know is to open the saved PDF in Acrobat Professional, go to Document > Crop Pages and use the option to Change Page Size you will find lower down on the dialogue box. You will see that there are options to position the content in the centre or elsewhere.
    Hope that helps!

  • Printer Paper Folds when printing

    We have a Hp officejet 7000 printer. Receive it yesterday and it is printing quite nice.
    The problem every time we print on A3 paper it folds the paper before printing. Why does it does that and what can we do to prevent it?

    How long have you been using the printer? the printhead may be wearing out... as long as it still prints , its ok. YOu may need to replace the printhead in the future.

  • When printing out a hard paper copy of your itunes library

    Greetings Everyone...
    I've just finished the herculean task of adding all my CD's into my ipod (29,637 store-bought discs and a smattering of vinyl LP's and singles...and still have 6gb left!). The artwork has also been entered, but I have a question:
    When printing out a hard paper copy list of your itunes library, the only artwork that appears alongside the title/songs is the first image. What if there is more than one image per LP/CD? Is there a way to manipulate the choices show all images appear on the page for each album? Some artwork is just too rare not to be able to view everything. Please advise, and thanks in advance.

    Hi boglegod,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    It sounds like you need to unistall the 32 bit version of iTunes and install the 64 bit version on your Windows computer.  Do you have a backup of your iTunes library?  Do you have any other security software installed besides Norton?  The following articles may help you with this:
    I would suggest following the information in the "External drive" section of the article below:

  • Just bought a 8500a, when printing a photo on HP Premium Plus paper, the prints come out not glossy

    Just bought a 8500a, when printing a photo on HP Premium Plus paper, the prints come out  flat,not glossy.
    On my old HPL7680 a photo w/same paper come out glossy & shiny. This maybe what should be expected w/8500A and is not a problem w/the printer. The 8500A is set to advanced photo paper, best quality. I worked w/HP tech support and was told to send back to the Amazon where I bought it for replacement. But if this is not really a defective printer than it doesn't make sense to send it back. I also purchased a HP C510 Photosmart and the quality on photos is excellent, so I have solved my photo printing problems per say. Has anyone else noticed lack luster, non shiny photos coming from the 8500A?
    My thought process was that if the L7680 printed a shiny, glossy photo, then the 8500A should too. But this may not be what I should expect...
    IS MY 8500A DEFECTIVE OR JUST WHAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED FROM AN OFFICEJET PRINTER AS OPPOSED TO A PHOTOSMART PRINTER.
    thx Jim

    The Officejet 8500 uses pigmented inks which have different characteristics than dye based inks.  HP Premium Plus paper is not really very suitable with pigmented inks, a better choice would be HP Advanced Photo paper.

    Hi -
    I can't tell from your post which specific jam you are experiencing.
    I found the following on the HP.com support web site at
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01450544&jumpi...
    On this page are a lot of possible jam causes and solutions.  This one is a description I think sounds similar to your report.
    Common causes of jams
    Cause: When printing on lightweight paper or on jobs with heavy toner coverage, paper is wrapping on the fuser causing Fuser Delay Jam or Fuser Wrap Jam messages.
    Solution: Set the LIGHT MEDIA optimize mode on the Print Quality menu to ON .
    Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
