Ff 33 does not fully shut down

My FF v 33.0 stays open in processes under task manager.
All my other browsers do fully shut down.
I have reloaded FF on my virus/malware free computer but FF will not completely shut down.
Very annoying.
Please help

Hello,
Try opening in [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] and see if the browser closes properly after opening in that. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes). Since Firefox has trouble closing, make sure that it is not running in your Task Manager before opening in Safe Mode.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>
[[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds.''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

  • ThinkpadYoga does not fully shut down or restart, only display off.

    hello lenovo helpers community
Everytime I want to shut down or restart my Thinkpad Yoga (11e, running on Win 8.1. Pro), it doesn't fully shut down. The display turns off, but the red LED light remains on and I can hear the vents running.
No matter how long I wait, it doesn't turn off. I always have to force the shut down with the power button on the side. This is really no solution.
I have tried a couple of things that are recommended online, but so far, nothing helped.
Examples of things I tried: power button options, energy options, registry, cmd shutdown -s -f -t 5, scanned virus etc., looked at the autorun list, registry scan (although I didn't really have high hopes on that one), updated all drivers and Win 8.1. Pro, ..
    Please help me, thank you!
    Best, Isa

    hello again
well, I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm really sorry if I did! The mere fact that you took the time to reply tells me that you care a lot about this. So I will take the time to set this straight, as well.
I did only have the experience with the German customer service hotline which, too, might be a factor. When living in the States for a couple of years I learned what service was truly all about, coming back here (to Germany) wasn't easy
Either way, I base my feelings about the German Lenovo CS not on the fact whether or not they could help me, but on how easy it was to reach someone who would try to fix my laptop for more than just five minutes and how fast I was asked to send the laptop in, especially after I told them that that would be the last option (I live in the countryside and getting to the next post office or Lenovo service partner would require at least a 2 hour drive and I don't have a car).
The M.Windows CS was nice and actually took 2 hours (!!) to figure out what was wrong via remote control, and gave me a couple of numbers to call in the area, that might be able to send someone over. So, although he couldn't help me, I felt like he really tried and took my situation into account.
I agree, that the final issue was hard to guess and also that it is weird that error notices were disabled. No one really knows though. Maybe just one with a hickup
I will not give up on lenovo though, promise

  • Adobe Reader does not fully shut down

After closing all PDF documets, Adobe Reader remains open. The Processes Tab in Windows Task Manager typically lists multiple instances of AcroRd32.exe after I close all PDF files. If I open a new PDF file, the PRocesses tab shows two instances of AcroRd32.exe. What causes this? What is the fix for this?
Windows Vista Home Premium (32), SP2, Adobe Reader 10.1.4 (latest download availabe from the adobe web site.
    Thanks

    Hi Pat,
Thank you for the information and the patches.
I installed them, one at a time, rebooted, and tested the outcomes.
10.1.5 – Adobe had run Adobe Distiller when I rebooted and checked Task Manager. This is the first I have seen Distiller listed in a long time. I opened an Adobe file. This added two instances of AcroRd32.exe to Task Manager. I closed the Adobe file. The two instances remained in Task Manager. I opened another PDF file without clearing the instances from Task Manager. This added two more instances of AcroRd32.exe to Task Manager.
With only 10.1.15 installed and after doing some other things, I retested Adobe Reader.  This time, when I closed the PDF either by the X in the upper right hand corner of the file or by File / Exit from the menu, Adobe Reader shut down completely and did not leave any instances of AcroRd32.exe in Task Manager.
10.1.16 – Could not find this patch file. Instead received this message in Firefox:
The requested URL /pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.6/misc/AdbeRdrUpd1016.msp was not found on this server.
Received a similar message in Internet Explorer
10.1.17 – Downloaded, installed, and rebooted PC. Did not see an instance of Acrobat Distiller in Task Manager after the reboot.
Opened a PDF file – two instances in AcroRd32.exe in Task Manager. Without closing the first PDF file, opened another PDF.  Momentarily saw two more instances of AcroRd.exe in Task Manager. Then they disappeared. Closed one PDF file using the X. Two instances remained. Closed the second file. Adobe Reader shut down completely and cleared both instances from Task Manager.
Not sure what had been going on. For now, things seem to operate about as they should.
Thank you, again, Pat. This will help keep my PC from hanging up after I view several PDF files. At times I have had 16 or 18 instances of the executable listed in Task Manager. That really slows down the PC.
    Kind regards,
    Jon Bergeson

  • Satellite A100 does not "really" shut down

    Hey everybody!
I have a Satellite A100 here and the problem is ... yeah, it does not really shut down. I can choose "Shut Down" in Windows and Windows shuts down, the monitor turns black and the notebook does not work anymore, but it does not turn off itself. The blue lights are still glowing. To switch off the system I have to push the on-off-switch for a few seconds.
The problem occured three days ago. I don't think it's a virus (someone on the net assumed that), because the system has no connection to the internet and has'nt seen any usb-stick or whatever for at least half a year. The user told me he changed the energy-options from "Toshiba Power Saver" to "Desktop". Of course I changed it back, but this did'nt solve the problem. I also did'nt find anything helpful in the options. Anyone out there who knows the problem or knows what to do? :-)
    Greetins,
    coincidence

Unfortunately, I can't. I choose "Shut down" in safe-mode and the operating system does a simple reboot. The notebook does not turn off at all.
Thanks so far. :) Merry Christmas!

  • Calendar alert snooze does not survive shut-down

I set many calendar alerts for a day or more in advance. I often snooze them for 2 hours, several times a day, to repeatedly "nag" me and keep the task in the forefront of my leaky brain. In OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, I could snooze an alert for 2 hours at, say, 11 PM, just before shutting down and going to bed. The next morning, that alert would reappear at startup. In 10.9.3 Mavericks, it seems that the snooze expires at 1 AM while my MacBook is shut down overnight, and it does not reappear at startup the next morning. Is this the "new normal"? Thanks.

I have also submitted feedback to Apple about this, as I think they have rendered Calendar all but useless by stripping out the ability to set sound cues, and to specify the lag time when hitting the "snooze" button. I completely agree, this is a serious and unprofessional messtep to remove a core function as though it were a trivial feature of the software. I've been a loyal Apple consumer for two decades, and this really makes me angry.
I am hopeful the wonderful people at Apple will restore this function with the next update to the OS.

  • Macbook Pro will not fully shut down!

Recently my MacBook Pro will not shut down. It looks as if all programs close, the dock disappears, the desktop clears, and then there is the circle of dashes that comes on when the MacBook is turning on. The circle of dashes (I'm sure there's a better name for this!) just keeps going round and round. It will go forever. Eventually I hold down the power button to shut it down. My software is up to date. What's going on?

or if you have another mac with no problems stick that sucker in T mode with a firewier and go throw disk utility from there.
or if you go throw the installation disk dont fully install it as soon as you see the word utility on your tool bar. then hit repair disk.

  • Firefox does not automatically shut down when I turn off my computer. It used to before this latest Firefox upgrade.

In the past, when I shut my computer down, Firefox would automatically close. Now, Firefox has problems closing at shut down. This happens every time I shut off my computer. I'm using Windows XP pro on a desktop.

Yep, that did it. Thanks for that tip.
However, the other issue is that whenever I start Firefox, the tabs I had open when I shut down do not automatically load. Again, this did not happen before the latest Firefox upgrade.
I have to say that I like the idea of AVG watching my back against malicious links, and not that it's disabled I'm concerned about viruses. Or should I be?
    Thanks again for the help.

  • Satellite A3OO-15X does not go SHUT DOWN

When I give to disable the laptop, so it is not off, but only restarts in sleep mode.
I have the basic panel for switching.
After entering hibernate mode it is also my only notebook restarts in sleep mode.
I have OS Win Vista bussines

    Hi
Im afraid I didnt understand exactly what you have done
You have clicked on the shut down button in Vista is it right?
And then your notebook goes into sleep mode? Is it right?
Please consider that the default action for the Power button on the start menu in Windows Vista is Sleep mode!!!
If you want to change this then you have to go to
Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings
Then go down to option "Power buttons and lid. Here, you can change the options:
Power button action - Changes the hardware power button action
Start menu power button - Changes the power button on the Start Menu
There you can change the power button to Sleep, Hibernate or Shut Down mode.
    Cheers

  • Firefox does not completely shut down when X'd out, I have to do a restart to completly close the program, is this common?

I just upgraded from 5.0 to 6.0 and the upgrade program told me that Firefox had to be closed before the new version could be installed. I had already X'ed out Firefox knowing that it needed to be closed before I could do an install. I finally had to do a restart before I could install the new version. This has happened in the past with other versions of Firefox. Firefox keeps running in the back ground for some reason and ends up using resources that are needed else where. In the past I have deleted Firefox from my computer to solve the problem, can you solve the problem or should I delete the program and use another browser?

Must be the "hang at exit" problem. You already know how to do Step1; now just determine which Add-on (Extension or Plugin) is causing the problem.<br /><br />

  • Computer will not fully shut down

I go to the apple sign in the upper left hand corner and click on shut down. When prompted with the countdown I go ahead and select shut down. I wait a few seconds and seemingly my computer shuts off. But I come back anywhere from an hour to a day later and it is still on ( the light is still glowing). I click on the space bar key and the screen pops up with the message "are you sure you want to shut down". Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do you close the top before it is completely shut down?
Because if you do, that puts it to sleep, even if you have
    selected "shut down".

  • Not fully shutting down

After upgrading to windows 10 from  windows 8.1 upon shutdown my laptop goes through all the normal processes but when the screen turns black the power light is still on any thing connected to the USB ports will still be running and the fan is still running. I have already tried to disable hybrid shutdown along with updating various drivers. Though for a short time after start up and logging in the lptop is able to shutdown normaly but after about 2-5 minutes of use the laptor will be unable to shutdown properly.

I would try resetting the system management controller:

  • Why does iPhone 5 shuts down in  2 C degrees? This should be inside operating temperature limits?

    Hello,
Why does iPhone 5 shuts down with  +2 C (celsius) degrees outside? This should be inside operating temperature limits? I´m living in Estonia and I was using iPhone 5 approximately 1 hour with +2 C (celsius) outside. Suddenly it just powered itself off with 25% of remaining battery. I was not able to switch it on again before warming it up inside the house.
I´ve been reading lots of similar complaints regarding other customers iPhone 5-s. Seems that the problem may be the aluminium back cover and thin, large-surfaced battery cause older iPhones are operating with same temperature just fine. Do you have any plan to fix this issue in the future?
    Best regards,
    Silver Siilak

You're not speaking to Apple, just your fellow users.  The specs say it's good down to 0°C... sounds like you have a hardware problem, likely battery.  Contact Apple, it's still under warranty.
